Willow handled Tyler the right way. I only hope his final statement was meant nicely and not sarcastically.

Definitely enjoyed the bonding. It's like the Jossmonster himself with his found families.

Not surprising but still itneresting how none of us here on Pens ever seems to come up with, say, the same name for Tara's mother or middle name for Tara (unless we delieberately copy one as a salute to another fic.)

Stopping now because there's about 12 things in these 2 chapters which could get me talking about myself instead of the story :blush .

Phantasyland: I am glad the update made you feel better!! :flower

DaddyCatALSO: I am glad you enjoyed the bonding. I don’t get much for the ‘family’ stuff, but I know it is important! As for the name for Tara’s mom or Tara’s middle name - it wasn’t a concious salute to another fic, it just seems to flow well together. I always to to think, if it were my kid and they were in trouble (because that is what a middle name is for) would it flow for me to get the kids attention or not. :wink :lol

Chapter 33

“Tara, what do I need to pack? The only business trip I’ve ever been on was Seattle,” said Willow looking at the pile of clothes on the bed.

“Mmmm, Seattle was nice,” said Tara coming in from the bathroom and wrapping her arms around Willow’s neck

“Yes, there are some VERY good memories there,” said Willow as her arms wrapped around Tara’s waist and let her hands drop to rest on the blondes butt.

“Just good memories,” teased Tara quirking an eyebrow.

“There are good ones, but then there are some very, very, hot, sensual, memories,” Willow said in a low sultry tone as her hands began to caress the jean covered flesh below them.

Tara groan at the feelings that Willow’s touch surged through her before kissing the redhead. Their bodies melted together. Tara trailed kisses along Willow’s jawline and then ran her tongue around the redheads ear knowing that this would drive her crazy.

“You know...what that does...to me,” said Willow tilting her head to the side and trying to remain coherent.

“Oh yes, I know what it does to you,” Tara whispered into the redheads ear before taking Willows earlobe between her teeth and biting softly.

Willow let out a whimper and pulled Tara closer. After several minutes of sensual torture Tara pulled back and smiled.

“This isn’t helping us get packed,” she said and then kissed the tip of Willow’s nose.

“No, but it did help me decide that you don’t need to pack pajamas,” laughed Willow.

“I like the sounds of that…unless you were planning on packing some,” Tara said raising an eyebrow.

“Only if you think I need some,” Willow said licking her lips and seeing Tara staring directly at her tongue.

“You definitely don’t need them!”

“Good, now seriously, what do I need to pack? Connor is going to be here in 20 minutes.”

“Fine, how about I pack our clothes and you get the bathroom stuff together?”

“Deal,” said Willow giving Tara a chaste kiss and squeezing her butt before making her way into the bathroom.

Willow went into the bathroom and packed the toiletries, and then she packed their make-up and hair items. While Willow was doing that Tara packed them each three work outfits and four casual outfits.

Willow came back into the room and saw Tara standing there lost in thought. She put the items she had packed on the bed and went over and wrapped her arms around Tara’s waist. This move brought the blonde back to reality.

“What were you thinking about?” asked Willow as she felt Tara’s arms go around her neck.

“I was remembering when my Mom used to pack for Donnie and I. The woman was a master,” laughed Tara.

“I see you took notes,” said Willow looking over at the single suitcase Tara had managed to pack all of their clothes into.

“I try to do it as well as she did, but I’m still not as good.”

“Tara, baby, you are still perfecting the skill she taught you. I wish I could have known her.”

“Will, while we are out on this tour, will, um...damn, why is this so hard to ask…” Tara said and Willow could see how frustrated the blonde was becoming with herself.

“Tara, look at me,” said Willow waiting for Tara to make eye contact with her. “Whatever it is, just ask. I love you. Remember, you are my safe place and I am your safe place.”

“I love you too,” said Tara nodding that she understood what Willow was telling her. “When we are out on the tour, will you go visit my mothers grave with me?”

“Of course. I would be honored and love to go with you. Baby, why would you struggle with asking me that? Did you think that I wouldn’t? Because, wow, going there...where the woman who gave life and raised the single most incredible and beautiful woman in the world to me is an honor.”

“Thank you,” said Tara as a tear rolled down her cheek.

Willow pulled Tara into a tender hug and held her close for a few minutes before they were disturbed by the sound of the building buzzer notifying them that Connor had arrived.

Willow pulled away from Tara to go answer the door. As she opened the door and let Connor in he could tell that something heavy must have gone on.

“Is everything okay?” asked the young man. The concern for his best friend came out in his tone.

“Yeah, it is fine,” said Tara as she came out of the bedroom after splashing some water on her face. Tara walked over and hugged Connor before moving and wrapping an arm around Willow.

“If you two need another minute or something I can come back,” he said.

“Thank you, but I’m okay. Going back to the East Coast brings back a lot of memories from my childhood.”

“I understand that. You and Donnie lived in Boston right?” asked Connor.

“Yeah, that is where I met Faith and when my mom got sick where she found some help and relief.”

“Did you ever go to the ‘Union Oyster House’ near Faneuil Hall?”

“Yes, it was my mom and brothers favorite restaurant,” gushed Tara.

“My mom and I used to go there all the time too,” smiled Connor.

“Wait, you lived in Boston?” asked a confused Willow.

“Yeah, sort of. Mom had a friend there that we used to go stay with. Someone named Drucilla. She was a bit on the odd side, but really nice.”

“Sheesh, you think you know a guy after so many years and then you find out he has been holding out on you,” laughed Willow.

“Come on, we have to get to the club before the others think you two opted to have sex all night instead.”

“You met Anya didn’t you?” asked Tara.

“Yeah, she said her boyfriend has been out of town and she needed some fun in her life,” said Connor.

“Xander had better get back soon,” laughed Willow as the group headed out of the apartment and towards Connor’s car.

=====================================

“So, this is The Bronze,” said Donald as he looked around the club. “It is a pretty spiffy and nifty looking place.”

“Ugh, Dad,” groaned Donnie as Buffy giggled.

“What?”

“Do you really have to use words like ‘nifty’ and ‘spiffy’ when describing things?”

“What is wrong with those words?”

“They are old words. They make you sound old,” Donnie said exasperated.

“Would you rather I used the words ‘sick’ and ‘rad’ to describe the place?” Donald said quirking an eyebrow at his son and seeing Donnie’s eyes widen.

“No, you were correct, how you phrased it was better,” said Donnie as Buffy started to laugh. “And thank you my supportive date for not rubbing salt in my wounds.”

“I’m sorry, but it is funny,” said Buffy. “How about I go get us the next round of drinks?”

“I’ll help,” said Faith as she and Emily joined them.

“Great,” said Buffy as they headed towards the bar.

“How are you doing Emily?” asked Donald.

“I’m doing good. How are you two doing?”

“Apparently I’m old,” teased Donald.

“I’m embarrassed and may die from it,” said Donnie.

“Oh, you are such a drama queen,” said Donald laughing at his son. “I hear Emily that you and Faith are moving in together. Are you going to work remotely?”

“We are moving in together next week actually. I am looking for work here in Sunnydale actually. My company wasn’t interested in letting me work remotely.”

“Well, that is their loss. What are you looking to do?”

“I have been looking for either a job in PR or Real Estate.”

“Interesting choices,” said Joyce who had just walked up.

“Hi Joyce,” said the group all smiling at the newly arrived woman.

“Hi, sorry to interrupt.”

“It is an interesting and diverse set of skills as Faith puts it. I just don’t know what I want to do at the moment. I was starting to burn out on PR and Sales.”

“Well, if I can help, just let me know,” Donald said smiling at the younger woman.

=====================================

Buffy and Faith made their way to the bar and ordered the drinks. While Buffy waited for the drinks Faith made her way to the bathroom.

“Oh look, if it isn’t Rosen-nerds loser best friend,” said Cordelia snidely.

“Shut up Cordy,” replied Buffy.

“Watch yourself Buffy. Chase Realty is the owner of the property for your gym and is in talks to sell your mother’s house. Although I think that is more of a charity case,” snickered Cordelia as Harmony let out a loud laugh.

“So, where is Rosen-nerd? I haven’t seen her around. Did her rich bitch girlfriend finally come to her senses?”

“Cordy, Cordy, Cordy,” said Tara as she, Faith, Willow, and Connor came up behind Cordelia and Harmony. “I thought I made myself clear when we talked the last time as to the consequences of you talking negatively about Willow or Buffy. Now, I have to do something that isn’t pleasant, because you failed to heed my warning.”

Cordelia and Harmony stood there frozen in shock at the blondes words while Buffy and Willow bit back giggles.

“You two stay right here and I will be back in a minute,” said Tara as she watched Cordelia and Harmony nod their heads.

Tara walked over to her father and whispered something in his ear and he nodded in agreement and she beamed a smile at him and quickly hugged him. She then whispered something to Emily who nodded and got up and walked over to the group with her. Donnie and Joyce looking questioningly between Donald and the retreating Tara.

“Faith, Buffy, why don’t you two and Connor take the drinks back to the table. We’ll be with you in a moment,” said Tara.

Faith had known Tara long enough to know that when she was in her defensive mode not to piss her off or go against what she has told you to do. She grabbed a tray as did Buffy and they made their way over to the section Connor had blocked off for them.

Tara wrapped her arms around Willow’s waist from behind and holding the redhead close she placed a kiss on the side her Willow’s head and then smiled coldly at the two women in front of them.

“Now, I told you that you would have to deal with me, but, well, I am the one that comes up with the ideas, my father finances them, and my friends and family see that the ideas are carried out. Tonight my father has agreed to invest in a new realty company that will be headed by this woman here,” said Tara motioning to Emily. “Our first order of business will be to acquire the land and buildings for Buffy’s gym, Joyce’s house, and any other friendly holdings. Next order of business is to take down Chase Realty and ensure that your parents understand that it is because of you that this is happening. Emily here is a very driven young woman who has access to unlimited funds, support, and staffing. Harmony, your parents manage the properties for the Chase family correct?”

“Yes,” Harmony said quietly.

“Well, hopefully they have other friends or skills,” said Tara smiling.

“Have a good night ladies,” said Tara as she led Willow and Emily back to the group.

=====================================

Donald, Joyce, Faith, Buffy, and Donnie watched from the table as Tara, Willow, and Emily addressed the other women.

“What is Tara up to?” asked Donnie.

“That is for your sister to tell you when and if she chooses,” answered Donald.

“I don’t know that I have ever seen that look on Cordy’s face before,” said Buffy.

“She messed with the wrong person when she pissed off Tara,” laughed Faith.

“What did she do?” asked Joyce.

“We were here a few months ago and from what Willow told me, Cordy decided to be Cordy. She started picking on Willow, calling her a loser, telling her that she had to use the other end of the bar because she was cool enough to use this end. Tara stepped in and put them in their place,” said Buffy.

“Do you know what Tara did to get them to leave Red alone?” asked Faith.

“Nope, I just know that she sent Willow over to get water and when she came back they were very quiet and avoided her the rest of the night.”

“Well, Tara has never been one to allow people to take advantage of others,” smiled Donald.

Tara, Willow, and Emily walked back and Emily sat down next to Faith, Tara sat down and pulled Willow onto her lap and smiled at the others.

“So, do we get to know what is going on?” asked Donnie.

“Cordy and Harmony learned not to mess with Tara,” laughed Willow. “They were talking shit to Buffy and about me. Tara knocked them down off their high horse.”

“I remember when you were little honey, maybe four or five and Donnie told you someone was picking on a friend of yours. You went out and threatened this kid who had to be four years older than you. I never found out what you said but that night his mother brought him over to our house and made him apologize to you for his actions and promise that he would never pick on your friend again.”

“That was Molly,” said Donnie. “I remember that.”

“Oh yeah,” Tara said burying her head in Willow’s shoulder as she remembered the encounter.

“What did you threaten him with?” asked Donnie.

“Davey was five years older than me and he kept threatening to beat Molly up, he’d push her down, all sorts of stuff. I simply told him that if he didn’t stop I would not only tell his parents what he was doing, but I would find someone who would do the same thing to him. Then I went and talked to Scott who was Davey’s older brother.”

“Did you know Scott honey?”

“Nope. He was really nice though. Nothing like Davey.”

“That’s my girl,” Willow proudly said before kissing Tara.

The others laughed at what Tara had done and tried not to stare at the intense kiss that she was sharing with Willow.

“Alright, enough mushy stuff,” said Faith. “What did you do tonight?”

Tara then explained her plan for Emily to become a Realtor and for her to take over the properties in the industrial park, The Bronze, and the other pertinent properties as well as selling Joyce’s house for her.

Everyone sat there processing what Tara had told them.

“Tara, isn’t that a bit harsh?” asked Joyce.

“It is harsh, but people who raise kids like Cordelia and Harmony don’t appreciate others. This isn’t something that will take place tomorrow. I am not saying we are going to make them poor or anything, but a little hefty competition may make them a bit more humble. It also gives Emily the opportunity to build a business that she likes and can excel at. I see it as a win/win.”

“Well, when you put it like that, it will be nice to move to LA knowing that my girls, all three of them are associating and being looked after,” laughed Joyce.

“Alright, enough Cordy/Harmony drama talk. We are here to have a send off dinner for Willow and Tara and their three week tour,” said Connor.

=====================================

“Cordy, do you think she meant what she said?” asked Harmony.

“I don’t know. I hope not,” said Cordelia as she watched the group across the room.

=====================================

The group ate, drank, and danced for the next several hours. Donald and Joyce surprised the others by getting out on the dance floor and dancing with them. As the night came to an end everyone said their goodbyes. Donald told Willow and Tara that he would pick them up at 8 to take them to the airport. Joyce told them that they were to let her know when they got to the hotel safely. Tara promised that they would. Connor drove them home and made Willow promise to let him know as well when they got to the hotel.

=====================================

Willow and Tara made sure that they had everything packed before going to bed.

“Tara, did you really mean what you said to Cordy and Harmony?” asked Willow.

“Yes, I did. Nobody messes with my girl,” Tara said smiling over at Willow.

“I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but thank you,” said Willow.

“I love you, and I will always look after and protect you.”

“I love you too,” said Willow as she rolled on top of Tara. “Now, let me make love to you. My hero!”

Willow leaned down and kissed her girlfriend deeply and passionately.

=====================================

Morning came quickly for Willow and Tara who had spent half of the night making love. The alarm had gone off twice before Tara forced them both to get up. Willow went and made them coffee while Tara showered. They had wanted to shower together, but Donald was going to be there in 30 minutes and they both knew that they would not be ready in time and they didn’t feel comfortable with Tara’s father knowing why.

Donald and Donnie arrived and helped Willow and Tara load their bag and carry-on bags into the car. The Maclay’s talked on the drive to the airport. Willow was quiet her fear of flying coming back more and more the closer they got to the airport.

“Are you okay Sweet,” Tara whispered to Willow.

“Huh? Sorry. Flying…” Willow said.

“Awww, do you have butterflies baby?”

“More like bats.”

“Poor sweetie,” said Tara as she wrapped her arm around Willow’s shoulders.

They pulled up outside the airport and said their goodbyes to the two men. Tara checked their one bag and then after getting through security they waited for their flight to board.

“Will, it is going to be okay. I am a pro at flying and I know you have nothing to worry about. I will even let you hold my hand the whole time.”

“Um, I was going to do that anyway,” Willow said smiling at the blonde.

“Oh really?” laughed Tara.

“Yep!”

They called the flight and Willow and Tara boarded and thankfully Tara had upgraded their tickets to first class so there were just two seats per row. Willow opted to sit by the window stating that if the engines were going to start on fire she wanted to be one of the first to see it. Tara laughed, but allowed her the seat. Once they got through take off and were at cruising altitude Willow let go of the death grip on Tara's hand.

“How are you doing?” asked Tara.

“A little better,” said Willow.

Tara leaned over and kissed her girlfriend. She felt Willow start to relax into the kiss.

“Tara kisses always make things better,” Willow said when they pulled away.

“Funny, Willow kisses always make it better for me.”

Tara pulled out a book that she had brought to read and handed Willow her ‘geek’ magazine. The flight was fine for the first two hours and then they started to hit some turbulence and Willow instantly froze. Her knuckles going white with the grip she had on the magazine.

“Sweetie,” Tara said trying to ease up the redheads grip. “It is okay, it is just a little turbulence.”

“Uh huh, until we fall out of the sky and die,” whispered Willow.

“Willow, seriously?” Tara said giving the redhead a look that made her think twice before continuing that line of speech. “We are going to be fine. I want you to hold my hand, but don’t crush it. If you crush it we won’t be able to fool around.”

“But, but, why take the risk of giving me your hand then?”

“Because, I am trusting you and that you won’t crush my hand.”

“That is a hell of a lot of trust there,” said Willow.

Tara looked around and saw that there were only two others in the first class section and they were sleeping. She leaned over and started to nibble on Willow’s neck and earlobe. The redhead’s eyes closed involuntarily. Willow brought her free hand up and ran her fingers through Tara’s hair pulling the blonde closer to her.

“You have no idea the things I am going to do to you when we get to the hotel,” Tara whispered into Willow’s ear causing the redhead to let out a moan. It was very quiet, but noticeable still to Tara. “I am going to make it so you pass out in ecstasy tonight.”

“Promise…” Willow said breathlessly.

“I guarantee it,” Tara growled into Willow’s ear causing the redhead to shudder.

“This flight needs to get moving,” Willow said before turning her head and capturing Tara’s lips in a searing kiss.

The two sat there kissing until they were interrupted by the flight attendant coughing while standing next to Tara. They broke the kiss and Tara turned and looked at the flight attendant.

“We’re going to be landing soon,” he said smiling at the two women.

“Thank you,” said Tara.

“Honeymoon?” he asked.

“Business trip and fear of flying,” Tara said glancing over at Willow.

“Maybe someday a honeymoon,” said Willow before she realized what she was saying.

“Enjoy your trip,” said the man as he quickly walked away.

“Maybe someday? How long have you been thinking about that?” asked a very shocked Tara.

“The marriage, um, just now. Spending forever with you, since the first time I saw you at The Bronze.”

Tara was stunned into silence. She couldn’t believe that Willow was thinking that far into their future. She wasn’t upset, she had thought about it as well, but they had never talked about anything like that.

The rest of the flight and landing were uneventful. They quickly gathered their carry-ons and went to the baggage area to get their only checked piece.

“Tara, are you going to talk to me again?” asked Willow with a smirk on her face.

“I can’t believe you never told me you were thinking that far into the future about us.”

“You mean to tell me you haven’t?”

“I didn’t say that.”

“Well, if you didn’t bring it up, why are you surprised that I didn’t?” asked Willow.

“Alright, good point.”

They grabbed their bag and headed to get a cab. Once they made it to the hotel and were in their suite Tara turned to Willow and just stared at her with a smile on her face.

“What are you smiling at?” asked Willow who was lounging on the bed.

“The idea of a long future with you,” said Tara as she pounced onto the bed and covered the redheads body with her own.

“Now are you going to make good on those promises you made on the plane?”

“After you call Joyce and Connor and I call my dad, yes,” Tara said before capturing Willow’s lips with her own.

=====================================

“Hi Daddy,” said Tara when her father answered.

“Hi Sweetheart. How was the flight? Or better yet, how did Willow survive?”

“We hit some turbulence, but everyone survived,” laughed Tara.

“Hey, I know you are talking about me,” called Willow from the other room causing both Tara and her father to laugh.

“I love you Willow,” Tara called back chuckling.

“How did she know we were talking about her?” laughed Donald.

“Who knows,” laughed Tara. “She just seems to know these things. She is that amazing.”

“You know that your mother would adore her right?” said Donald.

“Do you really think that Mom would like her?”

“Sweetie, you mother would love Willow if only for the fact that she makes you glow. The added qualities that come with who she is just make it that easier to accept her. I never thought I would see you as happy as you are with Willow.”

“She’s my everything, daddy,” said Tara softly.

“And your mother was mine. I love you Tara. Keep me posted on how the trip goes.”

“I love you too Daddy,” said Tara.

After they hung up Tara sat there for a moment thinking about her mother and what her father had said about her mother adoring Willow. A tear rolled down her cheek for the loss that her mother would never get to know Willow, and Willow would never get to know her mother.

=====================================

“Hi Joyce,” said Willow.

“Hi Willow. Thank you for calling me. How was the flight?”

“It was a bit scary, but Tara made it better,” laughed Willow.

“Somehow that doesn’t surprise me. I won’t keep you, but touch base every now and then so I know how things are going.”

“I will.”

They hung up and Willow overheard Tara laugh and something told her that it probably had to do with what happened on the plane.

“Hey, I know you are talking about me,” called Willow to Tara.

“I love you Willow,” Tara called back to her chuckling.

Willow giggled to herself before dialing Connor’s number.

They talked for a minute before she went to find Tara.

"Baby," Willow said as she walked into the other room and saw a tear rolling down Tara's cheek. "Are you okay?"

“Yeah, I just really wish you and my mother could have gotten to know one another,” said Tara as Willow wrapped her arms around the blonde and held her close.

“I wish I could have met her too,” said Willow kissing the side of Tara’s head. “Let’s go take a nice bath together.”

Tara nodded and Willow led them into the bathroom and started the water running.

Great update. It's so wonderful the way everyone has come together as such a family and friends group. Yay for taking down Cordelia & Harmony. They are adults. What, 22, 23 years old? They should be done acting like such high school assholes.

Thanks for posting and Happy Easter or happy chocolate day!

An update to Meant To Be is my personal highlight of the week. :flower

Wouldn't it be just perfect if we all had a Tara in our lives to take care of the bullies?

I don't recall a mention of Willow's fear of flight earlier. Oh well, fears can develop overnight, I know.

JustSkipIt: I hope you had a great Easter or chocolate day! Image

I agree that Cordelia and Harmony need to grow up. Hopefully Tara playing hardball with them will make them grow up. If not, well, hopefully we can limit their exposure to the gang.

Have a great week. :bounce

Phantasyland: Wow, Meant to Be update as the highlight of your week...no pressure. :lol I would love to have a Tara in my life to take care of the bullies! :drool

Willow had a fear of flying when they went to Seattle, she just didn’t let it show much and they didn’t have turbulence like the cross country flight did.

Chapter 34

Willow and Tara undressed the other while they waited for the water to fill in the luxury tub that was in their bathroom. Willow added some bubble bath so that they could relax and she always enjoyed playing with the bubbles. Tara smiled to herself as she saw the little kid grin appear on Willow’s face as the bubbles started to grow.

“What?” asked Willow when she saw Tara smiling at her.

“You are so cute when it comes to bubble baths,” said the blonde wrapping her arms around her lover and holding her close while the water finished filling.

Once the tub was full the two women got in and Willow sat behind Tara and held her close. Willow whispered thank you in Tara’s ear. She explained that she knew that she didn’t have to be fearful of airplanes, but it was a loss of control that bothered her. Tara told Willow she understood and that the redhead had nothing to worry about, but as long as she had fears and even when she didn’t Tara would be there to hold her hand and kiss her into distraction. To prove her point Tara adjusted and Willow leaned in and they kissed. The passion from their kiss made them both feel as though they were glowing because of their intense love for one another.

“Do you think it is unnatural for a love to be as strong as our is?” Willow asked after they broke the kiss.

“No, I think we are lucky. Very few find a love so intense and right that they can call the other their soulmate.”

“And you think we’re soulmates?” asked Willow.

“I know we are,” said Tara full of confidence.

“You have no idea how right you are my love,” thought Willow continuing to work on a plan to surprise Tara.

Tara leaned back in the bath up against Willow and allowed the redhead to wash away the day of travel and the stresses that come from being someplace not your own. Willow lovingly washed her lovers hair and body, stopping occasionally to kiss Tara’s lips, her neck, her ear, the top of her head. By the time she was done the blonde was almost asleep she was so relaxed. Willow let her rest for a while before nudging her and suggesting softly that they move to the bed. Tara whined that she hadn’t gotten to wash Willow and the redhead promised that they would get up early enough in the morning to shower together and so that Tara could wash her then. The blonde smiled tiredly and they got out, dried one another off, and then moved to the bed.

Once Tara had fallen asleep Willow opened up her laptop and started searching and putting in to place an idea that had come to her the night before, when they were making love. She wasn’t sure how she had a coherent thought at that point, but she had a blip of an idea and the fact that she remembered it told her that it was important and meaningful. After surfing the net for an hour Willow finally surcombed to the exhaustion and put her computer away and cuddled back up to the sleeping beauty next to her. Kissing Tara’s temple and seeing her smile in her sleep filled Willow with enough joy that she knew she would have nothing but good dreams.

Tara jolted awake when the alarm went off and quickly reached to shut it off before it had a chance to wake Willow. Tara had set the alarm earlier than she had told Willow in hopes of getting to watch the redhead sleep. It always made her day easier to handle when she could see the peaceful, serene, features of her lover sleeping.

“No, bad frogs, my mushroom umbrella,” mumbled Willow in her sleep. “Princess Tara will have you beheaded.”

Tara stifled a laugh, but she felt a surge of pride that even asleep Willow still thought about her.

“Princess Tara, I love you more than you’ll ever know…” mumbled Willow again.

Tara felt her heart fill with love at the revelation from the redheads slumber. She leaned forward and gently pressed their lips together. It took a minute or two, but Willow started to respond to the kiss. Willow finally was brought out of her haze and she pulled Tara closer to her and feeling Tara’s naked body against her own was enough to clear any lingering haze she had.

“Mmmm, good morning,” said Willow.

“Good morning Sweetie,” Tara said continuing to place soft kisses on Willow’s lips. “How did you sleep?”

“Wonderful! How did you sleep?”

“Better once someone put their laptop away and cuddled with me,” teased Tara.

“Was I too loud?”

“No, I just sleep better when your arms are around me or mine are around you.”

“I am sorry to have deprived you my hot and sexy love,” Willow said in a sultry voice.

“I do believe I was promised the opportunity to wash you this morning,” Tara said smiling at Willow. She had thought about teasing her about the frogs and Princess Tara, but she decided not to.

Tara rolled out of bed and offered her hand to Willow. She then led them into the bathroom and into the shower where she proceeded to wash Willow’s hair and body agonizingly slow savoring every inch of the redhead’s body. By the time she was done they were both so turned on that Willow pushed Tara against the wall and they made love coming together.

Tara ordered breakfast and they were just finishing getting dressed when it arrived. Willow tipped the young man that delivered the cart and wheeled the cart to the small table in the room. They sat close and fed each other breakfast before coming together in another kiss.

“How do we survive going all day without being able to kiss?” asked Tara.

“We force ourselves apart. You, Princess Tara are at the top of our tower overlooking us humble employees,” said Willow causing Tara to giggle. “You try to say something romantic and you get laughed at.”

“No, you talk in your sleep my love,” said Tara kissing Willow quickly. “You told the bad frog who stole your mushroom umbrella that Princess Tara was going to have him beheaded. And then you told Princess Tara how much you loved her. Now let me tell you my beautiful woman how much you mean to me. My life was incomplete until you arrived in it, now you are the air I breathe.”

Willow felt the tears well up in her eyes and she didn’t know what to say. She did the only thing she could and that was to kiss Tara.

“I love you so much,” said Willow pressing her forehead to Tara’s. “I am going to have a really hard time keeping my hands to myself today.”

“Baby, it will be easier, your parents are going to be with us as well as the founder of the group that they represented to us.”

“Yep, that is a definite mood killer,” laughed Willow.

“I’m sorry to kill the mood, but we need to get prepped and head off to the meeting, but tonight you are all mine again,” Tara said and then kissed Willow lightly.

“I can’t wait!”

The girls finished getting their presentation items together. Willow grabbed her tablet and her laptop, Tara grabbed her tablet and they headed off for their meeting.

The car ride to the Rosenberg Foundation’s headquarters was quiet. Willow and Tara enjoyed the scenery and the fact that there was very little traffic. Since their relationship had progressed they found that even sitting in silence next to the other person they were contented. There were many nights that they would lay on the couch cuddled together either reading a book or playing on their tablets.

Tara had been unsure what to expect when Willow came home from her “technology shopping spree” as she called it. Willow had bought them each an Android tablet and gotten herself a Chromebook to play with. Tara had questioned why they would need any of the items and Willow explained that outside of it being her moral obligation as a geek to test out new techy toys, there were practical uses. Willow set Tara’s tablet up to access her work email and to download her calendar. Tara explained that her phone did that as well, but Willow pointed out that there were apps that she could use where she could hand write her notes and it would transcribe them in for her. That feature sold Tara because she hated duplicating the effort of taking notes and then having to type them up later. It had been a month since then and Tara now didn’t leave home without her tablet. She loved to see Willow smile when she saw her using the tablet.

“We’re almost there,” said Willow looking at the navigation system.

“How are you doing?”

“It will be nice to see my parents and to see what the hell it is that they are doing that is so secretive,” laughed Willow.

“I love you,” said Tara leaning over the center console and kissing Willow on the cheek.

“I love you too,” Willow said smiling back at the blonde.

They finally made their way up to the main building. Willow looked around and nervously asked Tara if it reminded her of a secret compound. Tara laughed and told Willow that she needed to relax and that once they were done with today they were headed to Boston for the first official launch of the campaign.

As they approached the doors of the main building Ira and Sheila along with two other individuals came out to greet them.

“Willow, Tara, it is good to see you again,” said Ira as he hugged his daughter.

“Hello Ira,” said Tara as she shook his hand.

“Rebekah, Jacob, this is our daughter Willow and her boss Tara Maclay. Ladies, these are the foundation heads,” introduced Ira.

They exchanged pleasantries and Willow and Tara were led inside. It hadn’t gone unnoticed to Willow that her mother hadn’t said a word yet. Tara gave Willow a questioning look when she pulled back from the group a bit. A slight nod towards her mother told Tara what she needed to know. She knew that Willow was going to try to find out why her mother was so distant.

“Mom, can I have a word with you before we start the meeting?” asked Willow.

“Certainly,” said Sheila as she led Willow to a conference room across the hall from the large one that Tara had entered.

“Is something wrong?” asked Willow.

“Why would you think that?”

“You hadn’t said a word until I asked to speak with you. Is it something with Tara and I?” asked Willow hoping that this wasn’t the case, but knowing that anything was possible when it came to her parents.

“No honey, it well, in a way it does, but not in a bad way.”

“I’m confused.”

“Your father and I were talking this morning about how the emails we’ve exchanged with you over the past several months have shown us how happy you are and now that you are living with Tara you both pretty much glow. When you walked up the glow just took me by surprise. Oh, I’m being old and sentimental and regretting missing a lot of things in your life.”

“Oh my god, they replaced my mother with a stepford mom,” giggled Willow. She saw her mother smile a genuine smile. “I am truly happy with Tara. I am glad that you and Dad can tell and that you’ve made an attempt to keep in touch more. Maybe when Tara and I get done with this campaign launch tour we can come back and visit and spend some time together.”

“I’d like that. I’m sorry if I worried you, I just know we weren’t there much. Rebekah and Jacob are so involved in their son’s life and I guess I’m starting to have regrets.”

“Life’s too short for regrets,” Willow said thinking about Tara’s mom and her losing her mother so young.

“You are right. Let’s get back before they send out a search party.”

Willow hugged her mother and the pair walked back over to the conference room. Willow sat down next to Tara and watched as her mother sat next to her father. Sheila gave both girls a smile and they began their presentation.

=====================================

After spending the day going over the campaign, seeing the property that the Foundation was on, and driving back to the hotel, Willow and Tara were exhausted. On the drive back Willow had explained to Tara about her conversation with her mom and the blonde agreed that after they were done they would take a long weekend and come back and see her parents. Tara was surprised at the progress Willow and Sheila had made since they started dating.

When they arrived back at the hotel Tara went to take a shower while Willow went online and made plans to surprise Tara when they were in Boston. Tara came out of the bathroom in her robe and Willow kissed her and before going in to shower quick. Once they were both showered they looked at the room service menu and ordered dinner. They had decided to spend the night in cuddling since they had an early flight to Boston in the morning.

=====================================

Tara was walking along the beach in Sunnydale the wind blowing lightly as she stopped to gaze at the setting sun. Tara loved the colorful sky here in California overlooking the ocean. The red, orange, and pink hues that were gracing the sky made her smile. She remembered seeing a similar sunset with Willow. We were sitting not far from here, she thought. Tara glanced down the beach and saw a blonde haired woman smiling at her.

“Mom?” said Tara as the woman walked up to her.

“Hi Sweetheart,” she said hugging Tara tightly.

“Wha,,,how...I don’t understand,” Tara said stepping back from the woman’s embrace.

“You’re dreaming honey.”

“I miss you Mom. I finally met someone. I wish you were here to meet her.”

“I wish I were too. Tell me about her,” said her mom.

“Her name is Willow. From the moment I saw her I think I loved her. Dad and Donnie adore her too.”

“I’m certain if they adore her I would as well. I always wanted you to be happy.”

“I am. She’s got amazingly beautiful red hair and green eyes. She’s smarter than anyone I know. She’s funny, quirky,” laughed Tara.

“Quirky?”

“She loves to set up schedules and detail out every plan. She uses several colored pens to create her schedules and for her notes. Her best friend Buffy said Willow has always done that. She loves to learn, which is good, but still quirky. She loves me and takes care of me.”

“She sounds really special. I wish I could have been around to meet her.”

“We’re going to Boston in the morning. I am going to bring her by your grave site. It’s been a while since I visited last.”

"Tara, you keep me in your heart and thoughts. That is where I truly am."

"I know, but honoring your physical resting place is important to me too."

“Tara?” came a familiar voice.

“Willow,” Tara said smiling. “Sweetie, I have someone for you to meet.”

Willow joined the two women. She was baffled and amazed at the resemblance between them. Their eyes were the same shade of blue, their blonde hair the same. The woman with Tara was older, but she could tell they were related.

“Willow, I want you to meet my Mom,” Tara said proudly. “Mom, this is Willow. The love of my life.”

“H-hi,” said Willow as she was pulled into a hug by the older woman.

“Hello Willow. It is an honor to meet the woman who makes my daughter so happy and loved.”

The elder Maclay released Willow and Tara wrapped her arms around Willow from behind and beamed at how happy her mom looked at meeting Willow.

“The honor is mine. Your daughter is an amazing woman. You would be so proud of her.”

“I am very proud of her,” said Mrs. Maclay before turning her attention to her daughter. “Tara, your father has done such a good job raising you and your brother after I died. I’m so proud of all of you. I love you baby girl.”

“I love you too,” cried Tara as her mother turned and walked away.

Willow was awakened by the feeling of Tara shuddering in her arms. As she became more aware she realized that Tara was crying in her sleep.

“Tara? Baby?” Willow said as she gently shook the woman in her arms and kissed her forehead.

“Mom…” cried Tara as she woke up and saw Willow’s look of concern.

“Baby? I’m here,” said Willow pulling Tara closer and holding her tighter while she cried.

“I dreamt you met my Mom on the beach in Sunnydale,” Tara said as she regained control of her emotions. “She said she was proud of me and happy for us.”

“She has every right to be proud of you my love,” Willow said before kissing the top of Tara’s head. “You are smart, funny, caring, compassionate, sexy, and most importantly, my everything.”

“I love you Will,” Tara said before leaning up and kissing the redhead softly. “You are right, I am.”

“What?”

“Yours.”

Willow beamed at that one simple word. How a word could be so powerful, so important, so defining and short. She marveled at how it made her feel for a minute before kissing Tara with all the love she could put into a single kiss.

“And I am yours forever,” Willow whispered when they finally broke apart and lay back down cuddled together. There were still a couple of hours before they needed to get up and head to the airport.

=====================================

Tara turned the alarm off and then turned back in Willow’s arms to face the redhead. Willow smiled and kissed the blonde lightly several times.

“Hi,” Willow said softly.

“Hi,” Tara said smiling. “Thank you for earlier.”

“Never thank me for loving you. How are you feeling?”

“Better. The dream felt so realistic.”

“Well, tomorrow or the following day I’m going to meet your Mom in a way, so it was probably just your mind acknowledging that.”

“That could be. We should get up and get ready so we can get to the airport.”

“Alright. Why don’t you take the bathroom first,” said Willow.

“Okay,” agreed Tara as she got up and headed into the bathroom.

Willow quickly pulled out her laptop to check that the surprise that she was working on for Tara was still on track. She smiled to herself that she was able to keep this secret and that she couldn’t wait to see the look on Tara’s face.

=====================================

After getting ready and triple checking the room that they didn’t leave anything behind Willow and Tara went down to the lobby. Tara checked out and checked on the shuttle to the airport. Willow looked out the window and saw the dark clouds rolling in.

“Sweetie, it’ll be okay,” Tara said noticing Willow’s anxiety.

“Yeah, us, in a large tin can with lightning sizzling around just kicks. Sounds like good, clean, safe fun to me,” Willow said sarcastically.

“Give me a minute, just sit here and relax,” Tara said grabbing her phone and stepping away. Within minutes the blonde returned and smiled at the redhead. “Let’s go into the restaurant and get something to eat.”

“But the shuttle?”

“Melissa is going to cancel the flight and have a car dropped off for us since it is only a 3-½ hour drive and we can’t check in until later and we don’t have to meet with the event people until 5 tonight.”

“You cancelled our flight because of my nerves?”

“Yep. Now, I’m hungry so lets go eat while we wait for the car to arrive. She said she will text me a time of when it will be dropped off.”

“You are the best girlfriend ever,” said Willow smiling.

They went into the hotel restaurant and got breakfast and as they were finishing Tara got notification that the car would be there in 10 minutes. They both headed back to the lobby to wait. Once the car arrived Tara said she’d drive for the first bit and help Willow navigate through the Boston leg of it.

The drive was nice. They talked about what life was like as a teenager, sang along with the radio, as they neared Boston Willow’s stomach growled and Tara laughed.

“Hungry Sweetie?”

“Yeah, so, you knew my stomach was never subtle.”

“True. Did you want to stop or wait until we got to the hotel?”

“My stomach can be patient and wait.” laughed Willow.

They drove to the hotel and were able to check in early. Tara ordered room service while Willow got the computer and tablets linked so that they could go over the campaign prep and the event details while they ate.

=====================================

While Tara met with the event coordinator Willow inspected the setup of the audio and video equipment as well as the sound system. She found a few issues and instead of waiting for someone else to fix them she did it herself.

“How’d the setup look?” asked Tara as she and the event coordinator joined Willow in the “booth” where most of the equipment was centralized.

“It’s okay. I fixed a couple of cabling issues, so we are set to test and if I’m not mistaken we’re also set to launch.”

“Great, shall we test this and then we can be done and everyone can enjoy the night?” asked the coordinator.

Tara had Willow launch the presentation and the lighting for the launch. Everything worked, Tara tested her microphone and it worked as well. They told the coordinator they were pleased and everyone could call it a night. The pair went back to the hotel and changed and went out for a walk around the area and to get a bite to eat. While they were walking around Tara pointed out some of the sights she knew. Willow told Tara that she had made reservations for dinner for the day they went to see her mother's grave site. Tara tried to get out of Willow where they were going, but the redhead wasn't going to tell her.

After a nice walk back to the hotel after dinner the pair decided to stretch out on the bed and read. Tara laughed realizing how domesticated they had become in just a few short months. She knew that she could spend the rest of her life like this and be the happiest woman around.

Very lovely as always. I feel like Willow's parents are up to something but maybe they are just doing business and maybe Sheila is growing as a person and a mother. Curious all these surprises...

Phantasyland: I’m glad you enjoyed the update! Yes, what Willow has planned for Boston is very nice and thoughtful. :sigh I’m also glad that I am able to brighten your week. :glasses

JustSkipIt: I’m glad you enjoyed the update. I unfortunately see a lot of my own mother in how Willow’s parents act. It wasn’t until I was in my mid to late 20’s that my mother made an attempt to be a part of my life. I do believe in people growing and becoming more than they were. I haven’t decided fully on Willow’s parents, but I think there is strong evidence to support growth. :sighagain

Chapter 35

Tara was up and pacing the room before the alarm went off. She wasn't the nervous type when it came to her job, but there was a lot riding on this campaign. This was something that she and Willow had put together and something they were rolling out. Her father and brother had trusted the two of them. And then there was the fact that Willow's parents were involved with one of the companies that they were partnering with.

“Tara?” Willow said sleepily after reaching for her lover and finding the bed next to her empty and cold.

“I’m right here love,” said Tara hurrying over to the bed.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nerves mostly. I’m fine otherwise,” said Tara as she curled up in her lover’s arms.

“What are you nervous about?”

“It’s silly.”

“Tara, I love you and you aren’t the kind of gorgeous woman who gets nervous about something that you are completely and totally confident about. Now, tell me what you are nervous about,” said Willow propping herself up on one arm.

“I just want to make everyone proud of what we’ve put together. I mean Dad and Donnie put their support behind us entirely, then your parents are involved and going to be there. I also want you to be proud of the work we’ve done,” said Tara lowering her head.

“See, now that is where you are being a big dummy,” laughed Willow as Tara looked up at her. “Your dad and Donnie put their support in us because we have done an awesome job creating this campaign. My parents have already seen most of the presentation stuff, just not with the bells and whistles and they love it. Honestly, this is the last thing you should be nervous about.”

“Really? And what should I be nervous about?” asked Tara.

“Personally, I would be worried that you don’t have enough makeup to cover up that huge hickey I accidentally left on your neck last night,” said Willow looking at Tara’s neck sheepishly.

“WHAT?” squealed Tara jumping up and rushing across the room to the mirror.

“Baby, I’m kidding,” Willow laughed.

“WILLOW! That was cruel,” said Tara laughing as she made her way back over to the bed pulling the covers off Willow’s naked body and stopping at the amazing view.

“You take my breath away you know that?” asked Tara as she stood in awe.

“And you take mine away,” said Willow in a lusty voice. “Now, get down here and make love to me.”

“Yes ma’am,” said Tara.

=====================================

Willow and Tara made their way down to the conference room and met up with coordinator who was already working on the finishing touches for the decorations.

“Good morning,” said the coordinator as Willow and Tara entered the room.

“Good morning,” they replied.

“The room looks great,” said Tara looking around at the finishing touches.

“I’m glad you like it. We haven’t touched the electronics you tested last night, but I always recommend retesting them,” said the woman looking towards Willow.

“I’m on it,” she said smiling and then heading over to the booth with her laptop.

While Willow tested the audio and video Tara did a full walk-through of the venue and made sure that the food was set up, the ‘swag bags’ as they were labeled were complete, she made sure that all the tables were set, and the tables at the door had the nametags.

Once Tara was done doing the walk-through she left the coordinator to take care of the few details they found that needed addressing and she went to join Willow in the booth.

“How are we set in here?” asked Tara as she entered the room.

“We’re all set. I have everything queued and timed, I just need to get you wired with the microphone and pointer so that you can click through instead of running it timed. The applause is always something hard to gauge.”

“Or crickets,” said Tara nervously.

“I’ve heard your speech. There will be no crickets...unless I add them in,” Willow said winking at the blonde.

“I so can see you doing that too,” laughed Tara as she squeezed Willow’s hand. “Thank you for being my rock.”

“Thank you for being my everything,” Willow said causing the blonde to blush. “So, you ready to get wired for sound?”

“Yep,” smiled Tara.

Willow hooked up the microphone pack for Tara and gave her the wireless pointer. They then made their way out to greet people as they started to arrive.

“Willow, Tara, this place looks amazing,” said Ira Rosenberg as he, Sheila, Jacob, and Rebekah walked up to them.

“Thank you, but the coordinator really deserves the credit for most of this,” said Tara.

“I was just following the guidelines you set,” said the woman as she walked up behind them. “Ms. Maclay everything is set.”

“Great, thank you,” smiled Tara as the woman smiled back and walked off to continue monitoring the venue to make sure everything stayed on schedule and as they had set it up.

“Mom, Dad, have you been around to look at the different vendor booths yet?”

“No, we just arrived and wanted to find you two to tell you how amazing this place looks,” said Sheila.

“Well, the booth for the Foundation is towards the center. Three down from the A/V booth.”

“Thank you,” said the foursome as they waved and headed to find their booth.

Willow and Tara greeted people and wandered around the place for about 45 minutes before they were notified that it was time to get started. Willow moved to the booth as Tara moved backstage. The coordinator thanked everyone for being there and asked them to take their seats. Once everyone was seated she introduced Tara and Willow set the lights and audio afire.

Tara welcomed everyone and thanked them all for attending the first leg of their campaign launch party.

“My father started TDM Enterprise with the sole purpose of promoting literacy around the world. He has always told my brother and I that there is no reason in this day and age that anyone should not be able to read and write. Donnie and I agree and are proud to work with everyone involved in this cause. The programs that everyone in this room are involved in by either sponsoring, creating, producing, even teaching are in the long run going to make a difference in our lives as well as those we help and the people they help,” said Tara. “I commend every one of you for your contribution. In this room we have software developers, teachers, literacy foundations, sites that sponsor self publishing for amateur writers, sites that sponsor fanfiction writing, sites that offer research resources, volunteers, and the list goes on. I encourage all of you to mingle today and get to know one another.”

The crowd applauded loudly during Tara’s speech frequently causing her to blush.

“As we speak, Willow my campaign co-conspirator is working to repoint the links residing on your sites to a new site that we have developed for the launch of this campaign.”

“Folks, I need to interrupt for a moment,” said a male voice causing everyone to turn to the man making his way on stage. “I personally want to thank you for your participation in this. When I started TDM, Donnie and Tara were just learning to read and write,” said Donald as he and Donnie joined Tara at center stage. “Now, Donnie is the head of IT and Tara the head of Marketing. And as proud as I am of them for their achievements, it is their embracing of this cause that makes me the most proud.”

“Everyone, my father Donald Maclay and my brother Donnie Maclay,” said Tara introducing the newly arrived me.

“Willow, why don’t we take this time to move to the powerpoint show that you and Tara put together detailing out how we plan on marketing these amazing partners and this amazing cause,” said Donnie.

Willow turned off the microphones, dimmed the lights, lowered the screens, and started the show that they had put together.

“You could have told me you two were coming,” said Tara as she hugged her father and brother off stage.

“Yeah, but what fun would that be,” laughed Tara’s father.

“You were incredible out there,” said Donnie.

“Thanks. I was scared to death honestly,” laughed Tara.

“You couldn’t tell at all,” said Willow as she walked up to the Maclay clan. “You were amazing.”

“Thank you Sweetie,” said Tara hugging the redhead.

Donald and Donnie hugged Willow after Tara finally let her go.

“Willow, your work on this has been incredible as well,” said Donald.

“Thank you,” blushed Willow. “I have to get back, the video will be over soon.”

Willow made her way back to the booth. The remainder of the presentation went on without a hitch. Everyone was greatly pleased and as they started to mingle, Willow set the screens up to display all of the vendors, partners, organizations and such involved.

Tara met Willow at the door to the booth. “Hey cutie,” smiled Tara.

“Hi. You were amazing,” Willow said.

“You made me look good. Dad and Donnie have a surprise for you.”

“I’m scared.”

“You should be,” said a female voice from behind Willow. The redhead turned to see Joyce and Buffy standing there. “Willow, that was incredible.”

“Thanks Joyce. Not that I mind, as a matter of fact I am very happy and excited to see you, but why are you here?” asked the babbling redhead.

“I thought you might like some extra moral support,” said Donald walking up to join them.

“I definitely appreciate it,” said Willow smiling at the older man. “After the event is over, can we talk briefly?”

“Of course,” said Donald.

“Guys, that was amazing,” said Buffy.

“Thank you,” both women said.

The group mingled for several hours. Willow spent time talking with her parents and answered a lot of questions from various IT professionals that she ran into. After thanking everyone for coming and then speaking with the coordinator Tara took Buffy, Donnie, and Joyce up to the room she was sharing with Willow while the redhead talked to her dad.

“I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help with my surprise for Tara tomorrow night.”

“It was my pleasure. Is everything set up?”

“Yeah, I got the final confirmation while you all were on stage,” grinned Willow.

“Fantastic. Now, let’s get upstairs before they start to wonder,” said Donald.

The two-headed upstairs to join the others.

=====================================

“What are Willow and Dad discussing?” asked Donnie.

“I was hoping you had an idea,” said Tara.

“I’m sure it is just business,” said Joyce.

“Actually, Willow reports to me so if it were work related it would be her and I talking,” laughed Donnie.

“She still works for you?” teased Buffy. “I figured she would have replaced you or moved on to reporting to Tara since they seem to work together so much.”

“As nice of a thought as it is, Willow can’t report to me,” said Tara.

“Why’s that?” asked Joyce.

“Well, technically she could, but we’d have to stop dating and well, that isn’t going to happen.”

The group laughed loudly and at the same time Donald and Willow came in.

“Is there a joke that we need to be aware of?” asked Donald as he sat down in one of the chairs and Tara pulled Willow onto her lap.

“Tara was explaining how she wasn’t going to stop dating Willow,” laughed Buffy.

“Like that is or would ever be an option,” laugh Willow. “And why are we discussing Tara and I dating?”

“We were wondering what you and dad were discussing, Buffy thought it was work related. I told her that it would be me you’d be talking to…” said Donnie.

“And I teased him that I didn’t realize you still reported to him. I thought for sure it would be Tara by now for the amount of time you two spend working together. And Tara told us you couldn’t report to her and still be dating.”

“Yeah, I don’t think Faith would appreciate the HR nightmare that would cause,” laughed Donald.

“So, what were you talking about?” asked Tara looking Willow in the eyes.

“It…” started Willow knowing she couldn’t lie to Tara.

“I have Willow working on a project for me outside of work and she wanted to give me an update. It is a surprise for you and Donnie,” said Donald.

Willow and Donald were happy that everyone accepted that answer. Willow knew she couldn’t lie to Tara and she wanted to keep the surprise she and Donald had worked together on a true surprise. The group went down to the hotel restaurant and had dinner before separating and agreeing to meet up the following evening for dinner provided Tara and Willow felt up to it after going to see Mrs. Maclay’s grave.

=====================================

After a forty-five minute drive outside of Boston, Willow and Tara pulled into a small out-of-the-way cemetary. They sat in the car for several long minutes before Tara took a deep breath and they exited the car. Taking Willow’s hand the two women walked along the path towards the ornate marble headstone with the name Maclay carved in it.

“Do you want a moment alone?” Willow asked Tara as they neared.

“No, anything I have to say to her I can say in front of you,” Tara said squeezing the redhead’s hand.

Tara bushed the few leaves off the headstone before kneeling in front of it and placing the flowers she brought in the small vase that was there.

“Hi Mom. I’m sorry it has been so long since I’ve been here. There is so much that has changed in my life,” Tara said looking over at Willow and winking. “We opened another place in California several months ago. Dad let me choose the location. It is in this small town called Sunnydale. It is on the ocean. I wasn’t sure why, but I was just drawn to it. I found out why shortly after we got there. I met the most amazing woman, her name is Willow. She’s beautiful, smart, funny, I brought her here with me today. And Mom, I love her more than I ever knew that I could love someone and she loves me too. Dad and Donnie adore her Mom. Oh, we are even living together,” said Tara blushing. “Sweetie, would you like to um…”

“Hi Mrs. Maclay,” said Willow kneeling down next to Tara. “You have an amazing daughter and family. I-I am grateful that Tara chose me to love and that everyone has been so accepting of us.”

“How could they not be Sweetie,” said Tara kissing the side of Willow’s head. “You are very lovable and sweet.”

“You my love are biased.”

“I am, but tough! See Mom, I’m happy. Dad and Donnie are going to come by tomorrow to see you. They wanted to give us some time alone with you. Well, that and Willow and Dad are up to something and they aren’t telling anyone.”

“Your Dad is helping me with something,” confessed Willow smiling at Tara.

“And what have you been up to?”

“That is between your dad and I. Although, I will promise that you will find out later tonight what he has been helping me with,” smiled Willow.

They spent a little longer at the gravesite before driving back to the hotel. There was still a couple of hours before they had to meet everyone for dinner. Willow laid down on the bed and patted the spot next to her. Tara joined her and Willow pulled her close.

“Thank you for sharing you mom with me,” Willow said kissing the top of Tara’s head.

“Thank you for going with me.”

The couple lay there cuddled together until it was time for them to get ready to meet the others.

“So, is dinner the surprise?”

“Sure,” smiled Willow.

“Sweetie, you realize that by answering ‘sure’ you are avoiding my question right?”

“Yep,” Willow said laughing as she went into the bathroom to get dressed.

Tara finished getting ready and decided to go out onto the balcony to wait since it was a nice night out. She was lost in thought when Willow exited the bathroom. The redhead saw the blonde out there and quietly made her way over to the door and poked her head out the door.

“You okay?” asked Willow.

“Yeah, just enjoying the nice night.”

“Well, I need your fashion assistance,” said Willow smiling.

“My fashion assistance?”

“Yeah, I need to know if I should wear the coat with this outfit or not.”

Willow backed away from the door. Tara entered the room and turned towards the redhead and her breath caught when she saw what Willow was wearing. There the redhead stood in a pair of form-fitting black leather pants, a fitted long-sleeved red silk shirt.

“I...er...where...damn...wow…” sputtered Tara.

“So, you like?” slowly walking towards the blonde.

“Oh god,” growled Tara. “Like is such an understatement.”

Tara pulled Willow into her arms and hungrily kissed her. Tara’s hands drifted down cupping the redhead’s leather covered ass. They both groaned into the kiss. Willow had hoped that this would be Tara’s reaction to the outfit when she asked Buffy to pack it in a bag and drop it off for Donald. Willow hadn’t known that Donald and everyone were going to be coming to Boston, she had just thought that he would be sending the two items for her surprise.

Tara walked Willow backwards and pressed her up against the wall. Their bodies now tightly pressed together, lips moving together, Willow sucking on Tara’s lower lip, the blonde nibbling on the redheads lower lip. The intensity started to heat up and their hips started to move, grinding together.

“I...want...mmmm...you...oh god now,” panted Tara.

“How late...can...yes...we be,” responded Willow.

“Who cares,” said Tara as she trailed kisses up and down Willow’s neck.

Just as things were about to move to the next level there was a loud knock at the door.

“Hey Will? You and Tara still in there?” called Buffy.

“Son-of-a-bitch,” groaned Willow. “I swear that woman has the worst timing.”

Tara let go of the redhead who slipped past her to answer the door. Tara leaned her head against the wall trying like hell to get control of her now raging hormones.

“Hey Buff,” said Willow opening the door.

“Wow, you look amazing Will. I’m guessing with the flushed look on your face and the fact that Tara is leaning face first against the wall that I interrupted something.”

Tara whimpered her response slowly turning to face the two women.

“Let’s just say that two more minutes and we weren’t answering,” admitted Willow as she walked over to Tara and took her hand causing the blonde to whimper again.

“Cruel,” said Tara.

“Well, I know that everyone is waiting for us, so shall we go?” laughed Buffy.

“So, coat or no coat?” Willow asked Tara whose eyes just bulged.

“Definitely coat. I had a hell of a time keeping that away from Dawn,” said Buffy grabbing the coat as the three women headed out of the room.

“So, she knows your surprise?” scoffed Tara.

“No, and neither Willow nor your dad will tell me a damn thing. I was just used for outfit retrieval.”

“Did you know that Dad and Donnie were going to be here?”

“No, your dad was just going to send me some stuff for my surprise.”

“Now I’m really scared,” laughed Tara.

=====================================

The group decided that since they were only two blocks away they would walk to the Union Oyster House where Donald on behalf of Willow had reserved a room for them to have dinner. Donald had been surprised when Willow had called him to get his thoughts on taking Tara to the Union Oyster House since it was a place they always went as a family and after the emotional day of going to visit her mother’s grave.

When they arrived Donald gave them his name and they were escorted to a private room labeled 37 Union.

“This place brings back a lot of memories,” said Donnie as they all sat down at the table.

“Why is that?” asked Joyce.

“This was my mom’s favorite restaurant,” said Tara as Willow took her hand and squeezed it.

“Well, I feel honored to be invited. Thank you for allowing us all in on your memory,” Joyce said as she took Tara’s other hand and squeezed it.

“I took the liberty of ordering our favorites, but please if you see something else on the menu order it,” said Donald.

“What did you order?” asked Donnie.

“Donald,” said the man who had just entered the room.

“Joseph,” said Donald standing up and shaking the man’s hand.

“I heard you had reserved a room and couldn’t wait to see you again. I’m sorry about your wife.”

“Thank you. You remember my kids Tara and Donnie,” said Donald as the two Maclay’s stood and made their way over to shake the man’s hand.

“These aren’t? Wow, you both have grown up,” said the older man.

“Hi,” both of them said.

“I have my best server assisting you tonight. If you have any problems or need anything, please, let me know.”

“Thank you, it was good to see you again,” said Donald as the man left and Tara and Donnie took their seats.

“That was Joseph Milano Jr. He is one of the current owners.”

“He seemed to know you all pretty well,” commented Joyce.

“This was our favorite place to eat. I would say we ate here at least once or twice a week.”

“Hello everyone, I am Tina, I’ll be your server. Tonight I see you ordered for the appetizer round the Mussels - Basque Style. They are steamed with garlic and white wine, garlic bread, then the
Lobster Ravioli, and our famous Boston Baked Beans. For the dinner round the Broiled Fresh Boston Scrod - which is a cut of fresh filet of scrod topped with seasoned crumbs, and the Fried Select Oysters - the Union Oyster House tradition and my favorite, and our Grilled Swordfish. And for dessert the Hot Indian Pudding, Boston Cream Pie, and the Irish Coffee with the best Jameson's Irish Whiskey. Is there anything different that anyone would like?”

Everyone shook their head.

“Great,” said the waitress.

“Um, one thing. My daughter has a shrimp allergy so if the chef could be aware of that,” said Donald smiling over at Tara.

“Of course,” said the waitress as she headed back to the kitchen.

After the waitress left to put in their order she came back and brought their drinks. The group sat around discussing the kickoff to their campaign, their day, and life in general. The appetizers arrived and everyone was amazed at how good the food tasted. Joyce told everyone about the place she had found in LA and how excited she was to be moving, yet she was going to miss her three now four girls. Tara blushed at this and Donald promised to keep an eye on them for her. The entree round came and again everyone marveled at the taste of the food. Buffy who said she was never a huge fan of seafood, but if Sunnydale had this quality of seafood to offer she would be more than happy to live off of it. Willow said it was the first time she had ever tried swordfish and she told them it ruined any other fish for her. Tara told Willow that it was her Mom’s favorite as well.

Donald caught Willow’s eye and nodded to her for support and encouragement. He knew that it was about time for Willow to give Tara the surprise they had been working together on.

“Um, Tara? Can I talk to you alone for a moment?” whispered Willow.

“Sure Sweetie,” said Tara.

Willow took Tara’s hand and they went through a set of double doors, Willow closing the doors behind the two of them. There was a curtain that appears to be draped over the doors so that people couldn’t see in the other half.

“Is everything okay with them?” asked Joyce.

“Yes, Willow just has a surprise for Tara and I thought it would be best if she gave it to her in private.”

“What sort of surprise and how much do you know?” asked Buffy.

“I will say nothing further. Now, let’s give them some privacy,” said Donald.

=====================================

“Will, is everything okay?” asked Tara concerned as to why Willow had closed the doors behind them.

“Yeah, I just wanted to give you your surprise in private. Your dad agreed that it was the best idea.”

“So, my Dad knows all about my surprise huh?” said Tara mock glaring at the doors towards where her father was sitting.

“I needed his assistance…” Willow said with a coy smile.

=====================================
TBC...Any guesses on the surprise??

As someone who presents and facilitates on a regular basis I must say Tara handled the sudden, very unexpected arrival of her father and Donnie very well, especially in front of a large crowd. It was nice to get a better feel for what TDM actually does as well in this section. I have been enjoying this story and realized I had not really commented yet. I like the way you developed the relationship from the start until now and am enjoying seeing the relationship continue to mature.
I would have loved, in the previous chapter, to have read the conversation between Willow and Tara as they lay in the hotel tub and discussed Willow's fear of flying and how it really equated to a fear of not having control. I find those type of conversations can be very powerful to read and help bring the characters to life. I thought the dream sequence with Tara's Mom and the time spent at her grave were well done. It is a big deal to have your significant other go to the grave site of your Mother with you. I know and I often wonder what my Mom would have thought of my amazing wife.
I'll guess Willow is popping the marriage question on Tara and I wonder if perhaps she has Tara's mother's engagement ring from Donald to use. That would be a very sweet moment and a real solid representation of Donald's approval of the two of them.
I am hoping your migraine is gone and will not return. Looking forward to the next chapter.
-H.

I won't guess, not my strong suit. Hickies: my ex was living with ehr folks when we were dating so I know how that can be a problem. Haven't been to Boston often but appreciated the living details. gave it a solid feeling. Nice to be able to afford to go to a place like that frequently.

And defintiely felt good about the company's products. That's the ideal, evne idelaized, form of the AMerican Dream, doing well while doing good, and knowing that cna happen.

Meant To Be - my favorite! :bigkiss

The build-up was excellent! Kept me hooked even if I should have been paying attention to something totally different.

Tara handled the situation with the special guests very well. Back when I'd make presentations a bit like that I would have been extremely annoyed if some people came on stage in the middle of my speech. :gnome

And I don't wanna go guessing. I'll just wait and see. :glasses

loislan1: Thank you for the feedback!! :grin

I have an intense fear of public speaking (or even speaking to a couple of people) so I’m glad I didn’t screw up Tara’s reaction!! My Mom was good with presenting and winging it when she was thrown a curveball. As for what TDM does - I’ll let you in on a little secret - it has taken me until now to figure out just what I wanted TDM to do. Shh don’t tell. :wink I will try to incorporate more of those intimate side conversations going forward.

I agree it is a big deal to take your significant other to the grave site of your Mother...the first time I took my wife was pretty intense.

As for your guess - hmmm...oh wait - the answer is below. :bounce

And thank you - the migraine is finally gone! Please enjoy the new chapter! :grin

DaddyCatALSO: I’ve never been to Boston either - but from doing the research for the story it seems like an awesome place. I may have to make it a family vacation before my daughter heads off to college. :geek

I’m glad you felt good about the company’s products. It is a topic that has meaning in my life! :grin

Phantasyland: Happy to know that Meant To Be a favorite!! :flower
Hmmm, I’ve got you hooked and ignoring what you should be paying attention too...YAY ME! :banana

I don’t do public speaking, I barely do private speaking so I was winging it on Tara’s reaction!

Enjoy the update!! :sigh

...Previously…
"Will, is everything okay?" asked Tara concerned as to why Willow had closed the doors behind them.

"Yeah, I just wanted to give you your surprise in private. Your dad agreed that it was the best idea."

"So, my Dad knows all about my surprise huh?" said Tara mock glaring at the doors towards where her father was sitting.

"I needed his assistance…" Willow said with a coy smile.

Chapter 36

“Willow, what have you been up to?” asked Tara her eyes narrowing slightly.

“It is nothing bad. I have a two-part surprise for you...well three part if you include the outfit that I recall you appreciating before Buffy so rudely interrupted us at the hotel. I don’t know how it is that she can always have such bad tim…” babbled Willow nervously before Tara cut her off with a kiss.

“You’re babbling my love,” said Tara after holding her lips to Willow’s for a long minute.

“I’m nervous,” admitted Willow as she reached down and grabbed what looked like a wrapped shirt box. She stared at the box for a long time before looking at Tara and taking her hand. “Maybe we should sit down.”

“Okay,” said Tara as they pulled two chairs next to one another.

Willow took a deep breath and let it out slowly before handing the box to Tara.

“I have been working on this for a while and I thought today was the best day to give it to you,” said Willow.

Tara smiled at Willow and then unwrapped and opened the box to reveal an expensive picture frame containing several pictures and white gold plaque with the engraving ‘The Maclay’s - Family First’ on it. Tara looked closer at the pictures inside the frame. She saw four baby pictures representing her parents, her and Donnie. There were various childhood pictures of each of them. She saw a picture of her parents from before she and Donnie were born. It was one that she had never seen before and she gave Willow a questioning look before going back to the pictures. There was her parent’s wedding photos. Tara dragged her fingertips across the last picture which was their last family photo. She marveled at how happy they all looked and how radiant her mother was.

“Willow? How?” asked Tara wiping a tear away.

“I noticed when I moved in that you didn’t have a lot of your family photos out, but your family is so important to you. It just didn’t seem right. I had your dad help me with some of the older pictures and then I put the collage together and had it framed for you. After going to see your mother today, it felt like the right time to give it to you.”

“I love it,” said Tara and then kissed Willow. “Did my dad tell you about any of the pictures he gave you?”

“Yeah, he told me about all of them,” Willow smiled.

“What is this one?” Tara said pointing to the one of her parents that she had never seen before.

Willow smiled when she saw the picture that Tara was pointing at.

“That one your dad said was taken by a friend just after he proposed to your mom.”

“Mom told me about that day several times, but I never saw this picture. How did you get it?”

“Your dad got that picture from an old friend. He said he didn’t know that there was still a copy of it around. It was mere coincidence that he received the picture just before I asked for his help with this.”

“Sweetie I love this, thank you,” Tara said wiping another errant tear from her face.

“I’m glad. We can put it up when we get home. I love you!”

“I love you too,” said Tara before she kissed Willow again. This kiss was deeper and conveyed the emotion that the blonde was feeling at that moment.

=====================================

While the group made small talk waiting for Willow and Tara to come back it was obvious by the frequent glances to the door that they were all very curious.

“So, you know what is going on back there don’t you?” asked Buffy looking at Donald.

“Yes and no. I know what I was able to help with and what Willow was willing to share with me.”

“But why the secrecy?” asked Donnie.

“Willow wanted it this way.”

“How long do we wait for them to come back before we send a search party? Or go break up their makeout session,” laughed Buffy.

“Buffy Anne Summers,” scoffed Joyce. “Willow is not going to leave us just sitting here without there being a reason.”

“I know, but when I got to the hotel earlier they were in the midst of what looked like a pretty good makeout session…” whined Buffy.

“Ew, that is my sister you are talking about. Not a mental image I want…” said Donnie playfully hitting the side of his head trying to knock the image of his sister lip locked and groping the redhead.

“I’m going to go with Donnie on that one except of course that it is my daughter,” laughed Donald.

=====================================

“So, I um, said that this was a two or three-part surprise right?” started Willow nervously.

“I’m not sure how you top those two. The pictures and mmmm, that outfit,” Tara said with a small growl.

“There is a way,” laughed Willow.

“Do tell or show then,” Tara said setting the picture on the table next to her.

“I had all these things that I wanted to say to you, but then I figured if I took too long I would start to babble and babbling wasn’t going to work. I didn’t want to babble and now that I’m babbling and I can’t stop it really is detracting from what I wanted to say and do…” babbled Willow.

“Sweetie,” whispered Tara before brushing their lips together. “Remember, I am your safe place and you are mine.”

Willow kissed the blonde again and then went into the speech she had hoped to not forget.

“When I first saw you I thought ‘Wow, that is a magnificent and beautiful sight,’ I had no idea what you were going to mean to my life at that moment. As I get to know you, I am learning how truly magnificent you really are inside and out. The first time you kissed me, Baby, I swear the world ceased to exist. I had never felt something so amazing and intense. I used to lay awake at night thinking about that kiss and even in memory you took my breath away. That takes talent. Now I get to lay awake next to you and marvel at the fact that you love me, you want me, and I am, you know...yours.”

“And I am yours,” interrupted Tara.

“I know you are. I know of only three things that have the ability to make me happier than I am right now at this very moment.”

“And what are they sweetheart.”

“The first would be if you would marry me,” said Willow pulling a ring out of her pocket and holding it in front of Tara.

The blonde sat stunned. Her mind replaying the redheads question over and over. She wanted to respond and tell Willow yes, but she couldn’t make any sounds. Tara finally nodded wiping tears away as Willow put the ring on her finger.

“I love you,” whispered Willow before their lips met in a slow kiss.

“I love you, too,” Tara said into Willow’s lips.

When they finally broke the kiss for air Tara looked at the ring that Willow had placed on her finger. It was a Round Diamond Triquetra Celtic Engagement Ring in 14K White Gold.

“Willow this is so beautiful,” said Tara. “Does my father know?”

“Yes, he was supposed to ship the clothes, ring, and picture to the hotel for me, but instead he brought them. I did the proper thing and asked him for your hand,” blushed Willow.

“How long have you been planning this?”

“To ask you, about a month. The day and how, um, since the night we all went out on the boat.”

“Willow, that was less than a week ago,” said Tara.

“I’ve been busy?” smiled Willow taking Tara’s hand and kissing next to the ring.

“Does anyone else know?”

“No, but you see this spot here,” said Willow picking up the picture again and pointing to a spot that looked a little more bare than the others. “This is where our engagement photo will go.”

Tara thought about what Willow had said and how much thought she had truly put into this. The couple kissed for a few more minutes before they knew they had to get back to the others.

“I don’t want to go back out there, I just want to stay here kissing you,” pouted Tara.

“I know Baby, but your dad is waiting to take that picture for us,” grinned Willow.

“So, am I just supposed to walk out and flash the ring or what?”

“I was sort of thinking that you could just walk out carrying the picture and see if anyone notices,” laughed Willow.

“I love that idea,” said Tara picking up the picture and taking Willow’s hand in hers. Willow beamed back at the blonde when she felt the metal from the ring against her fingers.

=====================================

Everyone turned to face the two women as they heard the door open. Tara’s eyes were red from the tears, but she had a beaming smile that told everyone that they tears had been happy tears.

“So, did your surprise go off as planned?” asked Buffy.

“It was surprises - plural and they both went off as planned,” said Willow squeezing Tara’s hand as they sat down.

“What’s that?” asked Donnie pointing at the picture.

Tara handed the picture over to her brother to look at it. Donnie looked at it and looked over at the two women and then his Dad.

“This is amazing,” he said. “Did you put this together Will?”

“Yeah,” Willow said proudly. “Your dad helped with some of the pictures as well.”

Donnie passed the picture to Buffy who passed it to Joyce.

“This is beautiful Willow,” praised Joyce as she handed the picture to Donald.

“You did do a lovely job Willow. I believe there is still one picture missing though,” Donald said winking at the redhead and blonde.

The two women blushed and then stood in a pose that matched the one of Tara’s parents. Donald took the picture and told Willow he would send it to her to get it added. She smiled and thanked him.

Dessert arrived and they all started to eat. They were all eating when Tara reached for her glass of water with her left hand and the light caught the ring perfectly to cause it to shine.

“That is a gorgeous ring,” said Joyce.

“Thank you,” said Tara as she set the glass down.

“You don’t wear rings,” Donnie said narrowing his eyes. “You especially don’t wear them on your left hand.”

Donnie reached over and looked at the ring on his sisters finger. His eyes bulged as he realized what the ring meant. He looked between Willow and Tara for confirmation but neither girl was even looking towards him.

Joyce looked at the ring next and her eyes also bulged and she received the same response from Willow and Tara. Joyce also noticed the proud smirk on Donalds face. Buffy also looked at the ring, but didn’t understand the significance of it. She told Tara it was a very pretty ring.

“What?” said Tara as her brother glared at her.

“When? How long?”

“About 20 minutes,” said Tara squeezing Willow’s hand under the table.

“Seriously?” Donnie asked stunned as he continued to stare at Willow and Tara.

“Yep,” answered Willow smugly.

“Dad? You knew?”

“Yeah, I knew.”

“Okay, someone needs to clue me in, I don’t speak Maclay code,” said Buffy looking around the table.

“Buffy, Willow and Tara are engaged,” said Joyce proudly.

“What?” asked Buffy looking at the redhead and blonde for confirmation.

Willow nodded and held up Tara’s hand and the ring.

“Wholly crap on a cracker! Seriously?” exclaimed Buffy.

“Yep,” said Willow unable to contain the large smile overtaking her face.

“So, the picture thing was just something you two cooked up as a diversion?” asked Donnie.

“No, that was a surprise for her as well,” said Willow.

“Donnie, the picture in the middle of Mom and Dad was taken right after they got engaged. That is one of the reasons Dad took the picture of us. We’ll put our picture by theirs.”

“So, did you have all of this planned?” Joyce asked Willow.

“I had most of it planned. Donald helped with a lot of the prep work.”

“Why here?” asked Buffy with a confused look on her face.

“Tara told me that her family used to come here a lot and when she was talking with Connor and discussing how much they both loved this place and that it was her Mom’s favorite restaurant. It just seemed to fit.”

“It was perfect,” Tara said before kissing Willow intensely.

“Hello? Father here,” said Donald as the two broke their kiss and blushed.

They finished up dessert and walked back to the hotel. Willow and Tara agreed to meet everyone for breakfast the following morning and then went off to their room to celebrate their engagement.

Donald and Joyce went to the Jazz bar in the hotel for a drink and to listen to music, while Donnie and Buffy went for a walk.

=====================================

“Do you want to call Faith?” Willow asked Tara as they entered the room.

“I do. Do you want to call Connor?”

“Yeah, he is going to be so surprised,” laughed Willow as they sat on the bed against the headboard.

“Let’s do the calls together.”

“Whatever you want my love,” said Willow.

Tara pulled out her phone and sent a text to Faith telling her that she had something important to tell her and she wanted to do it via video chat. Faith replied to give her five minutes and then she’d be ready. Willow set up the computer so they could use that instead of Tara’s phone.

“Hey Faith, Hi Emily,” said Tara when the call connected.

“Hi Tara, I’ll give you your privacy,” said Emily as she turned to walk away.

“Please stay,” said Willow. “Hi!”

“So, what’s up T?” asked Faith.

Tara raised her left hand showing Faith and Emily the ring.

“No fucking way,” exclaimed Faith. “No fucking way.”

“Oh my god! That is so exciting,” said Emily.

“Thanks Emily,” said Willow.

“When?” asked Faith.

“Tonight at dinner,” beamed Tara before she turned and kissed Willow.

“Congratulations T and Red!!”

“Thanks Faith,” said Tara.

“I’m assuming your dad and brother know.”

“Yeah, Dad was in on it,” laughed Tara.

“That old man is full of surprises,” laughed Faith. “When you get back we’re going to have one hell of a party! I’m really happy for you two. I guess your news was worth us getting dressed.”

“Thanks Faith,” laughed Tara. “Mostly for putting clothes on before having us call. That is just not a side of you we need to see.”

“Dear god make it stop,” Willow teased pretending to cry.

“Hush you,” laughed Faith. “Alright, I am certain you two want to celebrate TOGETHER. We’ll talk soon though.”

“We have to call Connor first, then we can celebrate,” said Willow.

“Congratulations you two, we’re really happy for you,” said Emily.

“Thank you,” said both Willow and Tara before ending the video call.

Willow set the computer aside for a moment and grabbed the collar of Tara’s shirt and pulled her close.

“Kiss me, fiancée,” Willow said lustfully.

“Oh yes,” moaned Tara as she leaned in to Willow and pressed their lips together.

They lay there playfully kissing for several minutes before Willow pulled back so they could get the call to Connor over with and then get naked.

“Hey Wills! Hi Tara!”

“Hi Connor,” said both girls.

“So, how’s it going out east?”

“Fantastic,” said Willow gazing at Tara.

“So, why the urgent call if everything is so fantastic?” asked Connor.

“Well, I thought you would like to know now instead of waiting until we got home that Tara and I are engaged,” said Willow giddily.

“I’m sorry, can you repeat that?”

Willow held up Tara’s hand and pointed to the ring.

“Whoa, damn! Congratulations!”

“Thanks!” Both Willow and Tara said.

“So, now for my girlie moment. Gimme details. When? Where? Did you have a clue Tara?”

“When, tonight. Where, at the Union Oyster House. And Baby you have to answer the last question,” said Willow.

“I had no clue, but it was perfect,” said Tara.

“I’m so happy for you both! I gotta run, but we’ll celebrate when you get home!”

“Thanks Connor,” said Willow.

“Have a great night,” said Tara.

They disconnected the chat and Willow set the laptop on the floor and turned to face Tara.

“There, now the most important people in our life know that we’re getting married,” said Willow.

“Sweetie, are you going to tell your parents?” asked Tara as she pulled Willow closer.

“Yeah, but not tonight,” Willow said before kissing the tip of Tara’s nose.

“Oh? You have something better to do?”

“I might,” Willow said with smirk.

“Sweetie, before you asked me to marry you, you said there were only three things that would make you happier than you were then. My agreeing to marry you was one, what are the other two?”

“I totally forgot to finish that, didn’t I,” laughed Willow. “I wonder what distracted me. Oh yeah, it was you agreeing to spend the rest of your life with me.”

“There is no place I’d rather be,” Tara said before hungrily kissing the redhead. “You’re stalling though.”

“No, just really happy. The three things were you agreeing to marry me, our wedding day, and the day we start our family.”

“Wow, you really have given this a lot of thought haven’t you?”

“More like had a lot of dreams at night about our future.”

“You are going to have to tell me about these dreams sometime...just not right now,” said Tara as she pulled Willow on top of her. “Now, we celebrate.”

“I was beginning to wo…” Willow said starting to tease the blonde before Tara pulled their lips together.

=====================================

Donald had ordered a bottle of wine to share with Joyce while they listened to the music.

“I can’t believe Willow and Tara are getting married,” smiled Joyce.

“I must admit, I was surprised when she came and asked for Tara’s hand. I can’t imagine anyone better for Tara though.”

“They do seem to be a pretty good match. I’ve know Willow a long time and I’ve never seen her so happy.”

“I’ve never seen Tara so happy either. They remind me of my wife and I when we were first together.”

“How is the environment at work going to receive their relationship?” asked Joyce. “I’ve been worrying about that.”

“As long as there is no special treatment and they act professional in the business setting I don’t see a problem. I know that Willow and Tara both believe that the only way to get ahead is on your merits not by who you know. If it becomes a problem, I’ll address it though.”

“I don’t think there will be a problem then. I also want to thank you again for flying us out here for tonight. Willow is like a daughter to me and I am so honored to get to share this with her,” said Joyce.

“It was my pleasure. Your family have become a large part of Donnie and Tara’s life it just seemed like the right thing to do. I also know that Willow is closer to you than her own parents and would appreciate your being here more.”

“I hear that they are getting closer though,” laughed Joyce.

=====================================

“Oh god, Tara,” moaned Willow as she kissed her fiancée’s inner thighs. She was able to smell Tara’s arousal and desire for her.

“Yes, Willow please…” groaned Tara as she placed her hand on the back of Willow’s head and gently urged her towards her center.

“Yes, my love,” were the last words spoken by the redhead before she used her tongue to lick her lovers wet and throbbing center.

Tara arched up at the feel of Willow’s tongue part her lips and pressed into her. Her hips started to rock as Willow’s tongue worked at teasing and caressing her clit.

“Don’t...s-stop,” panted Tara.

Willow smiled and curled her lips around the aroused bundle of nerves that she had been teasing and she gently started to suck on it causing Tara to arch her hips higher.

“So amazing,” said Willow just before she slowly slid two fingers inside the woman beneath her.

“Ooooohhhhh,” moaned Tara.

Willow groaned at the sound of Tara’s enjoyment of what she was doing. She slowly started to move her fingers in and out of the blonde while gently sucking on her clit. Willow set a slow but steady pace wanting to prolong these feeling for as long as she could. Tara was moaning louder as she got closer and closer to her climax. Tara tried to encourage Willow faster by moving her hips faster, but the redhead continued her slow and steady pace.

“You...are...oooohhh...dear god yes...driving me...insane,” panted and groaned Tara.

“Mmmhmm,” responded Willow the vibration sending more shockwaves through Tara’s body.

It wasn’t long before Tara’s breathing became more ragged and her hips were moving more erratic telling Willow that her lover was very close. Willow reached up and entwined her fingers with Tara’s left hand feeling the ring pressing in as the blonde tightened her grip. Feeling the change in her lovers movements Willow increased her thrusts and sucked a little harder causing Tara to scream out her name. As she came Tara used her free hand to hold Willow’s head to her center allowing them both to feel her ecstasy as she rode out the orgasm.

Tara lay on her back spent from the ministrations of her redheaded lover. Willow kissed her way up Tara’s body and lay on her side next to the blonde running her fingers teasingly across Tara’s stomach.

“I love you,” whispered Willow.

“I love you too,” said Tara as she managed to get herself onto her side facing the redhead.

They were drawn together in a kiss when Tara’s hand expertly found it’s way between Willow’s legs and she slid two fingers into the redhead causing her to groan into their kiss. Willow hadn’t been expecting to feel her lover’s fingers, but was grateful at feeling them inside her. Tara set a steady pace thrusting and it wasn’t long before Willow was calling out Tara’s name.

Now they both lay there spent from the day and their amorous activities.

“I want to keep ravaging you, but I don’t know that I can move enough to do it,” giggled Tara.

“I know how you feel. How about we take a short nap and then continue the ravaging?” suggested Willow.

“Only if you hold me close.”

“I wouldn’t want you anywhere else.”

The two women drifted off to sleep together only to awaken a couple of hours later to their hips grinding together and their hands moving in very intimate ways in intimate spots.

“Oh Tara,” moaned Willow.

“Yes Willow,” moaned the blonde.

Their lips met and the surge of desire overtook them as they entered the other. They thrust inside the other until they came together.

“That was...one hell..of a wake-up call,” said Tara trying to catch her breath.

“I’ll say. You can wake...me up that way...whenever you want,” Willow said smiling at Tara.

“Um, Sweetie, you woke me up,” laughed Tara.

“No I didn’t,” said Willow confused.

“I guess our bodies just couldn’t take being apart,” said Tara. “I, for one, am not complaining.”

“Me either,” Willow said kissing Tara again softly.

They drifted off to sleep again and slept in the others arms until the alarm went off three hours later.

“Kill it baby,” whined Willow at the noise of the alarm.

“I’m trying,” said Tara her arm flailing around trying to find the clock. Once she finally got the alarm turned off she was awake.

“Good morning, fiancée,” said Willow when Tara turned to face her.

“Good morning,” said Tara with a huge grin on her face as she lifted her hand up and revealed the ring that she had received the night before. “It wasn’t a dream, it was real.”

“No dream,” said Willow.

They came together in a passionate kiss that lasted for several minutes.

“I know we are meeting everyone soon, but what do you say we take this to the shower,” Tara suggested as she got out of bed and extended her hand to her lover.

“Yes ma’am,” said Willow.

The couple managed to wash one another and get dressed in time to head down to meet the others.

=====================================

As the group stood in the lobby waiting for the newly engaged couple they discussed their evening.

“So, $20 says that they are late getting down here,” said Donnie.

“Fine, I love taking your money son,” smirked Donald.

The two men shook on the bet and then turned towards the elevator that was opening to reveal the happy couple.

“Dammit,” said Donnie as the girls walked up.

“You lost another bet to Dad didn’t you?” asked Tara.

“Shut up. It is all your fault,” laughed Donnie.

“We do have SOME self-control,” said Willow.

“Not much, those are some pretty spectacular hickeys you two are sporting,” laughed Buffy.

Both Willow and Tara blushed when they looked at the others neck and saw that to their horror, Buffy was right, they each had a large hickey on their neck.

The group laughed and then made their way to the dining room for breakfast.

“So, are you going to get Willow a ring too?” asked Joyce.

“We hadn’t actually discussed it, but may I sweetie?” responded Tara.

“Of course,” smiled Willow with love.

Their breakfast arrived and they discussed the flight home that the four were going to be making and Willow and Tara discussed the next stop on the tour. After breakfast they all got packed and checked out. The shuttle to the airport was crowded, but they were able to sit together.

After saying their goodbyes they went their separate ways. Donald, Joyce, Buffy, and Donnie headed back to Sunnydale. While Willow and Tara headed south to their next stop.

Very romantic and MFEO update. I love that Willow planned it out so thoroughly. Pood Dawn. She didn't get to come and they didn't call her.

I'm sort of fascinated by Willow's logic for choosing this location. I mean... Tara loves her mom but it's a little strange to take your wife to a place that was special to her when her life didn't include you. You know? I would think it would make more sense to take Tara someplace that was special to the two of them like the Sunnydale zoo or the pier or something. But hey, Tara went for it so that's all that matters.

If it were anyone but these two I'd say it's too soon, but . . . . .

Chapter 37

As Willow and Tara were walking through the airport terminal they heard someone calling Willow’s name.

“Willow...Willow…” called the voice causing Willow to turn in the terminal.

“Mom?” said Willow shocked.

“Hi,” said the older woman as she finally closed the distance between them.

“Hi,” said Tara smiling at the woman.

“Ira,” called the older woman waving her hand as her party started to pass the by.

“There you are,” said the older man smiling.

Ira hugged both Willow and Tara.

“We wanted to tell you both how amazing the convention was, but Jacob and Rebekah were talking with one of the vendors and we missed you,” said Sheila.

“I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope you were able to make several contacts that will help you with the foundations work,” said Tara as she felt Willow’s hand slide into her own.

“I’m so glad we ran into you,” started Willow. “I have something really exciting to share with you...well WE do.”

“Oh, and what is that?” asked Ira smiling because of the giant grin his daughter had on her face. He had never seen Willow as happy as she had been dating Tara.

“Tara and I are engaged,” said Willow holding up Tara’s hand to show off the ring.

“Oh honey, that is incredible. I am so happy for you both,” said Ira as he hugged his daughter and then Tara.

“When did this happen?” asked Sheila in shock as she hugged her excited daughter.

“I asked Tara last night,” Willow said beaming at her fiancée and receiving a loving smile back.

“Wait, you two are a couple?” asked Jacob with disgust in his tone.

“I thought this was a reputable company you connected us with,” said Rebekah. “One with ethics and values.”

“I’m sorry? What is the problem?” asked Ira angrily.

“You support this disgusting…” started Rebekah motioning towards Willow and Tara.

“Watch what else you say! That is my daughter you are talking about,” said Sheila getting in the other woman’s face.

“I cannot believe that you two condone such a, I don’t even know what to call it,” spat Jacob.

“I think that it is best that you just stop there and keep your mouth shut,” growled Ira.

“Ira, Sheila, please,” said Tara stepping between the two couples.

“No, Tara, they are being rude and ignorant and what they should be doing is either keeping their mouth shut or congratulating you two,” said Ira.

“We will not be subject to something like them,” spat Rebekah.

“Fine, we withdraw from your foundation and will take our support elsewhere,” said Sheila.

“Mom? Dad?” said Willow looking between her parents and the other couple.

“We have a contract,” said Jacob.

“Sue me,” Ira said in a tone that told the man he wasn’t messing around. “Bad mouth either of these girls, TDM Enterprise, or their program and I will sue you for everything you personally and professionally have. I know enough about your business to make it hurt. Am I understood?”

“Clearly,” said both Rebekah and Jacob.

“Good, now be on your way,” said Sheila.

Willow and Tara stood in disbelief. Neither knew what to make of what had just happened, but Willow had never been so proud of her parents and to be their daughter as she was at that moment.

“I, er,” said Willow.

“Honey, your father and I may not have been there for you as often as we should have, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t love you and want you to be happy. We have noticed since you and Tara got together how happy you have been,” said Sheila.

“Thank you both. I’m sorry we caused you to lose the work you were doing with the foundation though,” said Tara.

“We aren’t,” said Ira. “After listening to them talk to vendors, we realized we had separate goals that were not going to be met in the direction we were going. Are you guys going to be late for a flight?”

“Actually we aren’t leaving for a while,” said Tara squeezing Willow’s hand. “Willow isn’t a fan of flying, so I booked us on a smaller flight.”

“Well, would you have time to chat, we’d love to hear about this engagement.”

“Of course. Do you need to take care of your flight reservations?”

“Oh right, yes,” said Sheila smiling at the two women before she and Ira headed over to the ticket counter.

“I can’t believe that just happened,” said Willow in disbelief. “I mean, not only are my parents happy for us, they threatened Rebekah and Jacob. Not that they didn’t deserve it.”

“Well, I for one am glad we ran into them. Now they know everyo...Sweetie, we never told Dawn. We had Buffy and Joyce here, we called Connor, but we never told Dawnie.”

“Let’s call her now,” said Willow pulling out her phone.

“Hello?” answered a tired voice.

“Dawnie, sorry to wake you. I forgot about the time difference,” said Willow.

“It’s okay. I have been avoiding getting up for work. Buffy and Mom aren’t home yet,” said Dawn tiredly.

“I know, we just put them on a plane with Donald and Donnie.”

“So, what’s up?” said Dawn a bit more alert.

“Are you sitting down?” asked Willow.

“No, I’m still laying in bed,” said Dawn hearing Willow and Tara laugh.

“That works too,” said Tara. “Morning Dawnie.”

“Morning Tara. So, to what do I owe this wake up call?”

“Tara and I are getting married,” blurted out Willow.

“I’m sorry, repeat that because in my sleep haze I believe you just said you two were getting married.”

“That is what she said,” replied Tara giddily.

“Oh my god,” squealed Dawn. “Oh my god! You guys? Really?”

“Really,” Willow and Tara said together.

“I love you guys!”

“We love you too, Dawn,” said Willow. “What time do you get off work today?”

“I’m done at 5. Why?”

“I was thinking if you wanted we could do a video chat and I can show you the ring that I got Tara and we can tell you all about it.”

“Yay!! You realize you just made this the longest day ever right?”

“Would it help if we took a picture of the ring and sent it to you?” said Tara.

“Uh huh,” said the brunette. “So, Mom and Buffy know right?”

“Yeah, they were there...sort of. I didn’t ask her in front of everyone, but it was while we were at dinner.”

“I can’t wait to hear the full story...but seriously, send the picture,” laughed Dawn.

“We will. Now, get you ass up and off to work,” said Willow.

They finished saying their goodbyes and then took a picture of the ring and sent it to Dawn. Just as they had sent the picture Willow’s parents came back.

“Well, we have an hour before we have to be at the gate for our flight. Shall we go get some coffee?” asked Ira.

The foursome went and got some coffee and then found a quiet table to talk at.

Willow and Tara filled them in on the dinner and about the picture Willow had given Tara before proposing to her. Willow told them about proposing and how nervous she had been. She knew that Tara loved her, but marriage was in Willow’s eyes a lifelong commitment and she wasn’t certain that Tara was ready for that. Tara just looked at Willow in disbelief before kissing the side of her head and telling her she was a goof to think that she wouldn’t want that.

“I’m still fuzzy on why you chose that place though,” said Sheila.

“Tara’s mom loved that place and they went there often. I had already asked her Dad for her hand, but I wanted to include her Mom, or her memory at least in it too. Proposing at her mom’s grave site seemed creepy, so the restaurant was the next best place I could think of.”

"Sweetie? Really?" said Tara as a tear rolled down her face. She knew Willow was thorough with everything she did, but to be that in-depth just made her love the redhead even more.

“Of course,” Willow said wiping the tear away.

“That is really thoughtful honey,” said Ira.

“The ring is gorgeous, Willow. You have great taste,” said Sheila taking Tara’s hand again and looking at the ring.

“She does. Now we just need to get her a ring,” said Tara.

“Are you going to have matching rings?” asked Sheila.

“We never talked about that. Sweetie, do you want matching rings?” asked Tara.

“I want whatever you choose for me,” said Willow. “I chose that one because of trinity meaning and because I thought it would look great on you.”

“Trinity meaning?” asked Ira.

“The three promises of a relationship to love, honour, and protect.”

“Isn’t that a...oh what is it called...oh yeah a Claddagh?” asked Sheila.

“It is very similar,” smiled Willow.

“Leave it to you to find the deep hidden meaning in something that beautiful,” laughed Ira.

“I can’t help my analytical side,” laughed Willow.

“Sweetie, I think you mean your hopeless romantic side,” laughed Tara.

“Fine, that too.”

The two couples enjoyed the rest of their time talking about how the Rosenbergs were going to have to find a new project, but they were going to take some time to just relax before they did that. Willow wasn’t sure what had brought about such a change in attitude with her parents, but she was enjoying the new attitude. She finally felt a connection with her parents.

After seeing her parent’s off Willow and Tara went to hang out at the gate their flight would be out of. They didn’t leave for another couple of hours, but they could play on their tablets while they waited.

=====================================

Willow and Tara arrived at their hotel in Atlanta, GA. They still had a few hours before they were to meet with the Event Coordinator so they decided to order lunch and relax in their room. The food came and they ate and then went and cuddled on the bed.

“I am still in shock about my parents,” said Willow.

“Well Sweetie, I don’t think you can question their love for you,” smiled Tara.

“No, I definitely can’t do that. They are also very fond of you,” Willow said smiling at the blonde.

“I’m grateful for that. I would hate to be at odds with my in-laws,” laughed Tara.

Of all the jokes that were always made about in-laws, Tara had always feared not getting along with whomever her in-laws were. When she found Willow that fear intensified as she knew their relationship was a very special one. Tara was grateful that the Rosenbergs had come around and were becoming more of a part of their life and she hoped that would continue.

“Have you ever thought about your wedding?” Willow asked.

Tara adjusted so that they were both laying on their side facing the other. She reached up and ran her fingers through the redhead’s hair. The gesture was one that emanated love and devotion.

“As a kid I did. As an adult, I’ll admit that since we started dating it has crossed my mind,” blushed Tara.

“Why are you blushing?” asked Willow scooting a little bit closer to the blonde.

“I have no idea. I guess it is because I’ve thought of marrying you, and what our future could hold, but I neither said nothing nor acted on the idea like you did.”

"Baby," said Willow bring her hand up to cup Tara's face. Willow looked longingly into Tara's eyes. "Just because you didn't act on it doesn't diminish the idea. The fact that you thought about us spending our life together at all makes me feel so loved."

Willow leaned forward and softly kissed Tara. There was no need to deepen the kiss or anything, just the soft touch of their lips made them both sigh in contentment.

“I do love you, Willow Rosenberg. Very...very...much,” said Tara punctuating each word with a kiss.

The two women kissed for a while before they had to get up and get ready to go meet with the Event Coordinator.

=====================================

After three hours of meeting with the coordinator and getting everything set for the following day Willow and Tara went back up to their room and Willow ordered a pizza while Tara stretched out on the bed.

“I can’t believe that they didn’t have everything set up,” said Willow as she hung up the phone and made her way over to lay next to Tara.

“I know. I have a new appreciation for the previous venue. I mean we sent all of the specs to each place.”

“At least it is over with. We’ll get some nummies in our tummies, then we can cuddle before calling Dawn, and then maybe we can check out the hot tub,” said Willow.

“I like all of those ideas. Especially the one that involves you wet and naked,” laughed Tara.

“That was my favorite choice for you as well,” said Willow kissing Tara gently on the cheek.

After cuddling for a while the pizza arrived and they ate and then watched some television before Willow set up her laptop so that they could video chat with Dawn. When it was time they called the younger Summers’.

“Hey Dawnie,” said Tara as the chat connected.

“Hi Tara! Hi Wills!”

“How was your day Dawnie?” asked Willow.

“It took forever because I knew I was going to get to talk to you two. Mom and Buffy came in but wouldn’t tell me a thing. They said I had to wait to talk to you.”

“And here we are,” said Tara.

“So, gimme details. Oh, and the ring...you have awesome taste Willow.”

Willow and Tara recounted for Dawn the night of their engagement. Dawn gave several girly squeals and Buffy poked her head in to say ‘hi’ and to tell them to stop making the teen squeal. Willow told Buffy and Dawn about running into her parents and telling them about her and Tara being engaged. Willow then told them about what happened with Rebekah and Jacob. Buffy was shocked but pleased that Willow’s parents were finally coming around.

After they finished their video call, they got the hot tub filled, turned down the lights, and Willow turned on some soft music from her laptop.

“When we get a house, we’re getting one of these,” said Tara as she climbed into the tub and let one of the jets power out a knot in her back.

“I love the sound of that. The whole us getting a house,” said Willow as she eased herself into the tub as well.

“Well, before we buy a house, I need to get you a ring so that the world knows you are mine,” said Tara pulling Willow onto her lap.

“You don’t think that everyone knows by now that I belong to you?”

“I don’t care. I still want one on your finger soon. I like what my beautiful ring means. Do you mind having matching rings?” asked Tara with a nervous quiver in her voice.

“I told you Baby, as long as the ring comes from you that is what is most important to me,” said Willow reassuring Tara.

“Then let’s get your ring ordered tonight,” Tara said grinning at the redhead.

Once the water started to cool off and they were well pruned, the two women got out of the tub and as Tara got situated in bed Willow grabbed her computer sat down next to Tara. Willow brought up the site where she had ordered the ring. Tara slipped her ring off briefly and put it on Willow’s finger to make sure that they were both pleased with the look. Once they were in agreement Tara put her ring back on and ordered Willow’s ring. Tara chose to have it sent to her Dad so that he could get it to them no matter where they were. After ordering the ring Tara took the laptop out of the redhead’s hands and set it on the nightstand. She looked over and saw the same desire in Willow’s eyes as she had in hers.

The couple made slow passionate love to one another. The past few days had been more lust, but this...this was more intense and about taking their time savoring every touch, every sensation. By the time they finished, they were both exhausted, but had never felt as complete as they did at that moment.

=====================================

Morning arrived and the two women showered together and got ready for the day. They went down to the hotel restaurant and had breakfast before heading to make sure that everything they had told the Event Coordinator needed to be done was done.

While Tara and the Event Coordinator walked around checking everything Willow went and looked over the audio and visual setup and made sure that the queues were loaded, the wireless remote for Tara to click through the presentation. Tara appeared in the audio/visual hut smiling at Willow as she worked.

“You know it isn’t nice to stare,” said Willow without looking up.

“I got a ring that says otherwise,” laughed Tara. “How are things going in here?”

“All I have let to do is get you wired for sound and I’m done. How are things out there? Better than last night?”

“Much better,” said Tara entering the audio/visual hut and leaning over and kissing Willow gently.

“What was that for?”

“I need a reason to kiss my fiancée?”

“Never,” said Willow as they kissed again quickly. “Looks like it is time to get you wired.”

“My Dad and Donnie aren’t coming to this one are they?”

“No, but then again I didn’t really know they were coming to the last one,” laughed Willow as she hooked up the battery pack and microphone for Tara.

“Well, I guess I should get out there,” said Tara giving Willow another chaste kiss.

The Event Coordinator introduced Tara and she went through the rehearsed speech from the first launch only this time there was no interruption from her father and brother.

At the end of the presentation, while Willow put up the video loop of all of the participating partners Tara made her way to the audio/visual hut and Willow removed the battery pack and microphone. The pair then went out to mingle with those attending. They started walking around together, but were quickly separated as some of the vendors had questions for Willow and others had questions for Tara. They tried to stay near one another though. After several hours of roaming the room, things were starting to wind down and the women finally were able to spend some time together.

“I think it was a great turnout,” said Willow.

“Yeah, it was. There were some really interest suggestions given too,” said Tara.

“Do you wanna watch a movie or go out tonight?”

“Movie, definitely. I’m exhausted. Someone kept me up most of the night,” Tara said bumping shoulders with Willow.

“I don’t recall you complaining,” teased Willow.

“And I’m still not.”

After they were done and had met with the Event Coordinator, Willow and Tara headed back to the hotel to relax.

“Tara,” called a female voice in the hotel lobby as Willow and Tara were walking through.

The couple turned and saw Erin standing there. Both women groaned at this sight.

“Hello Erin,” said Tara exhaustedly. Willow moved closer to her fiancée.

“That was a great launch party. My company sent me as a representative.”

“I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

“Since when do you wear a ring? Were you getting hit on by too many people and Daddy said you should do it?,” smirked Erin.

“No, actually, Willow and I are engaged,” said Tara smiling and taking Willow’s hand.

“Well, congratulations. I didn’t think you would stoop to dating an employee. You two didn’t seem all that serious when you were in Seattle.”

“Yeah, we did seem serious, you just didn’t want to see that because you were having fun tormenting me,” said Tara flatly.

“That isn’t true,” said Erin with an offended tone.

“Erin, Faith tells me all the shit you say. And Willow is and would never be below me unless we are making love. You are the one with the superiority complex, not me. Now, I’m tired. It has been a long day, and I’d like to go to my room and relax with my fiancée.”

“There is no reason to be rude,” said Erin.

“She wasn’t, that is all you,” said Willow. “Now, if you will excuse us.” With that said Willow turned and walked Tara towards the elevator leaving Erin standing there in shock.

Once they were in the elevator Tara pulled Willow into her arms and kissed her gently.

“Thank you,” said the blonde when the kiss ended.

“Nobody messes with my girl, and that woman needs every square inch of her ass kicked for what she did to you,” said Willow as they got out of the elevator and walked to their room.

Once they were in the room the couple showered together and put on comfortable clothes, ordered and ate dinner, and then settled in together to watch a movie.

“This is perfect,” said Willow as she cuddled closer to Tara who was starting to fall asleep.

“Mmmhmm,” said Tara softly.

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

Morning arrived and the two women showered together and got ready for the day. They went down to the hotel restaurant and had breakfast before heading to make sure that everything they had told the Event Coordinator needed to be done was done.

I love that Ira and Shelia stood up for Willow and Tara's relationship. I'm glad to see that Willow and Tara didn't let the encounter with Erin ruin the rest of their night. Great update.

Sorry for the skipped weeks. My daughter is graduating on the 14th and that means the Dammit Do list caught up with me. I don't know that there will be an update the weekend of the 14th, but I will try!

=====================================

Chapter 38

“Um, Will, Sweetie? Are you ready to go?” Tara called as she finished packing their bags and moving them towards the door.

“Are you sure we can’t drive?” whined Willow as she exited the bathroom.

“Positive. Sweetie, you are going to be fine. I know you hate flying, but I’m still hoping that by the end of this campaign you’ll feel better about it.”

Tara walked over and wrapped her arms around her fiancée and kissed the side of Willow’s head. Willow looked up at her lovingly and they exchanged a soft kiss.

“So, where are we headed this time?” asked Willow sighing.

“Um, Wisconsin,” Tara responded as she glanced at the tickets on the desk.

“Um, Baby? Isn’t it cold there?” asked Willow pulling out of the hug and looking at the blonde.

“Well, I was going to go to Chicago, but there was something that I wanted to show you so instead of taking a day trip I just chose to move the conference to Wisconsin.”

“Have you ever been to Wisconsin?”

“Twice. We went for a huge Cranberry Festival and the other time was to go through their famous corn maze.”

“Their what? What the hell is a corn maze?”

“I’ll show you when we get to the airport. It is a lot of fun and WE are going to do it,” said Tara grabbing some of their bags and heading towards the door while Willow stood there opening and closing her mouth.

=====================================

“Tara, tell me what the hell a corn maze is. I’ve seen Children of the Corn…” whined Willow as they sat down outside their gate to wait for the plane and to board.

“Sweetie, hand me my tablet and I’ll show you,” laughed Tara.

Willow handed Tara her tablet and the blonde clicked around getting on the internet and pulled up the website for the ‘Treinen Farm Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch’ and handed the tablet back over to the redhead.

“Read this my love,” said Tara.

Willow read the website and learned about maze and the farm. Tara could see Willow’s inner child coming to life as well as the nerdy side of her.

“How did you find this place?” asked Willow as she handed Tara back her tablet.

Just as Tara was about to respond their flight was called. The two women boarded the plane and then Willow asked Tara again about how she found the place.

“My Mom saw it featured on TV. She thought it would be fun so my Mom and Dad took us there one year. We had a parents vs kids to see who could get through the maze first and get the most hole punches for the secret locations.”

“I’m going to guess you and Donnie won?”

“Barely. Mom and Dad missed one of the secret locations, but we came out of the maze at the same time. It was so much fun. I thought that since it was late October and we’re going to be in that area it would be fun for you and I to go through it.”

“It sounds amazing. I can’t believe that they cut that into their corn field.”

“They choose a different design every year. So, will you go with me?” asked Tara.

“I can’t wait,” grinned Willow. “Thank you for sharing stuff like that with me.”

“I want to share every bit of my life with you,” Tara said before giving Willow a chaste kiss.

Willow and Tara talked about what the maze was like. Tara told Willow about the Cranberry festival they went to. Willow was amazed that Tara’s parents took the time to make sure their kids had these life experiences. She vowed to herself that when they had kids they would make sure they made the time to give their children these experiences.

“Sweetie? What are you thinking about?” asked Tara looking at the redhead who had a dreamy smile on her face.

“Huh?”

“What were you thinking about just now?”

“Oh, I was thinking about how amazing it is that your parents took the time to give you and Donnie such amazing memories and how I want us to do that with our kids.”

“Kids? Plural?” said Tara grinning and raising an eyebrow.

“Um, yeah,” said Willow scared that Tara didn’t want more than one. She knew they had mentioned having a kid, but it wasn’t something they had set in their plan for their life together...yet.

“I love the idea. How many kids do you want?”

“Two or three. And before you ask I don’t care if they are boys or girls or one of each, just as long as they are ours.”

“I couldn’t agree more. I love you,” said Tara leaning over and kissing Willow.

“I love you too. Um, one question that I haven’t asked and in all honesty I’m sort of scared to ask, but, where do you want to live? I mean do you want to stay in Sunnydale? Do you see us moving around like you have been?” asked Willow nervously.

Tara took Willow’s hand and brought it up and kissed her knuckles.

“I have thought about it, and I love Sunnydale. If you want to stay there, I’d love to buy a house and build our life and family there. The only thing that I truly need for my life to be complete is you. I love traveling, but the moving and not having a true place to call home for any length of time, that is fine when you are single, I’m not single anymore.”

“You aren’t?” teased Willow.

“Nope, see this amazingly hot redhead bought me this beautiful ring,” said Tara extending her arm and admiring the ring Willow had given her.

“So, you like this redhead a little?”

“Yeah, she’s sort of grown on me,” laughed Tara.

“It feels like we’ve been sitting on this runway forever,” commented Willow.

“Will, we left the airport a long time ago.”

“We did?” squeaked Willow.

“Yep, now back to me liking this hot redhead,” said Tara.

“Yeah, back to that,” Willow said smiling.

Tara leaned forward and brushed her lips with Willow’s. The two sat staring into the other’s eyes until they were interrupted by the flight attendant asking if they wanted drinks. They both declined. Tara took Willow’s hand in her own and leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes.

=====================================

The landing was more tense than the takeoff. The main reason was that Tara wasn’t able to keep the redhead distracted as she had earlier. Once they landed Willow went to get their checked bag while Tara went to the car rental kiosk to get their car. Willow grabbed their bag and met Tara as she was leaving the car kiosk. The couple walked out to their car.

“This is not warm weather,” said Willow her teeth chattering.

“Yeah, we may need to get sweatshirts or coats before we go to the maze. I can’t have my girl freezing before I get the chance to marry her,” laughed Tara as they got in the car and Tara started off for their hotel.

“No, you can’t,” laughed Willow as she looked out at the scenery. “It’s pretty here.”

“Yeah, it is,” agreed Tara as they drove down the isthmus towards their hotel.

Arriving at the Sheraton Hotel, Tara checked them in and they went up to their room. Tara hung up their ‘Event’ clothes before joining Willow who was lounging on the bed.

“Hi beautiful,” said Willow as Tara lay down beside her.

“Hi. Whatcha doin’?” asked the blonde laying on her side next to the redhead.

“I was thinking about how much I love you and how lucky I am to have you in my life.”

“I feel the same way Sweetie.”

Just as Tara was getting ready to kiss Willow, Tara heard her phone ring.Tara groaned and grabbed her phone and answered it.

“Hi Daddy,” said Tara.

“Hi Honey. Did you make it to Madison alright? Was the flight smooth?”

“Yeah, we made it fine. The flight was smooth, I even had Willow distracted enough that she didn’t even know we took off.”

“I’m not sure I want to know that you had her distracted,” replied Donald with a small laugh.

“DADDY,” exclaimed Tara blushing and looking and seeing Willow lift her eyebrow. “We were talking. Sheesh.”

From hearing Tara’s side of the conversation Willow blushed imagining what Mr. Maclay had said.

“I’m sorry Honey. You are too easy to pick on at times. So, do you have plans for the next couple of days before the launch?”

“I’m taking Willow to the corn maze that we went too that one time with Mom. Then, we’re going to go walk through the arboretum. With the trees changing colors, I thought it would be nice.”

"That sounds like a lot of fun. Well, the reason I called is to tell you that Willow's ring arrived and I'm going to send it to you there in Madison via private carrier."

“That’s great. Thank you!”

“It should be there sometime before 10 tomorrow morning,” Donald said.

“You are the best! I love you Daddy,” Tara said giddily.

“I love you too honey. I’ll let you get back to enjoying your time with Willow. Call me and let me know how she likes the corn maze.”

“I will. Thanks again, Daddy!”

Tara hung up the phone and turned and saw Willow giving her a questioning look.

“Your ring is being sent by private carrier and will be here before 10 tomorrow morning,” started Tara seeing Willow’s face light up. “And he wants me to call him and let him know what you think of the corn maze.”

“So, this time tomorrow everyone is going to know that I’m taken huh,” teased Willow.

“Oh, I’m not letting you get that far from me so they are already going to know that you are taken,” said Tara as she pushed the redhead onto her back and then Tara pressed her body to Willows.

“I love possessive Tara,” said Willow before capturing Tara’s lips.

“Do you wanna go dancing tonight?” Tara asked when they finally broke for air. “I mean I know it isn’t The Bronze, but there is a LGBT dance club nearby. I used to listen to their DJ when he was on an internet radio channel.”

“Um, sure. Do I get to dance close to you?” Willow asked in a sultry tone.

“There is nobody I’d rather have close to me,” Tara said returning the sultry tone.

=====================================

Willow and Tara got ready to go out dancing. Willow opted to wear the leather pants from the night she proposed and a green shirt and then the matching coat. Tara was wearing a pair of tight black pants and a crop top that showed off about an inch of skin.

“You are so gorgeous,” said Willow wrapping her arms around Tara’s waist.

“So are you my love. Are you ready to go out and dance the night away?”

“Lead the way,” said Willow.

Tara grabbed her small clutch purse that had their money and ID’s in it. While Willow was getting ready Tara had called down to the front desk to arrange for a ride to the club so that both she and Willow could drink.

When the two women arrived outside the club Plan B, the driver gave them his card and he told them to call and he’d be back to pick them up. Tara thanked the driver and tipped him before they went inside.

“Wow, this place is packed,” said Willow.

“Yeah, it is. Do you want to get a drink or dance?”

“Drink, then we can dance,” Willow said as she moved them towards the bar.

“What can I get you ladies?” asked the bartender.

“Two Long Island Iced Tea’s,” said Tara.

“I need to see your ID’s.”

Tara pulled them out and showed them to the bartender.

“Out-of-towners? What brings you to the bar and area?”

“I used to listen to DJ Tim online. We’re here for a business conference and so when I found out we were coming I checked to see if he was DJ-ing,” said Tara as she watched the female bartender making their drinks.

“Which conference?”

“TDM Enterprise kickoff,” said Willow. She had been surprised to see it on the marquee sign across from their hotel.

“Fantabulous. I’ll be there myself,” said the bartender setting their drinks on the bar. “What company are you with?”

“TDM. I’m the Head of Marketing and my fiancée is a Senior Programmer,” Tara said smiling at Willow.

“Well, congratulations! How long have you been engaged?”

“Five days,” said Willow kissing the ring on Tara’s finger.

“Well, the drinks are on the house. Stop back up here in an hour or so and I’ll take you to meet DJ Tim as well. He loves to meet fans. By the way, I’m Lynn if you need anything.”

“Thank you,” said Tara tipping the bartender and then handing Willow her drink. Lynn moved off to help other customers and Willow and Tara moved to find a table.

They drank, sang along with the music, and people watched for a while and then Tara pulled Willow out on the dance floor. The couple danced close and sensually. They both enjoyed the opportunity to be close. Numerous times they exchanged kisses and not so discreet touches. Stuff they couldn’t do while at The Bronze.

After an hour they decided to take Lynn up on her offer to meet DJ Tim. The couple made their way back to the bar. Lynn spotted them right away and had two glasses of water waiting for them.

“Thank you,” Willow said.

“No problem. So, would you like to meet the DJ?” asked Lynn

“Yes, and thank you,” said Tara.

Lynn led them to the DJ booth and she knocked on the door. Tim opened the door and allowed the three women in.

“Hi Lynn,” said Tim.

“Hey Tim. I brought you a couple of fans. Tara here used to listen to you when you did that online radio gig. And this is her fiancée, Willow.”

“Well, it is great to meet you both,” said Tim shaking both of the women’s hands.

“It’s nice to meet you too,” said Tara.

“Hi,” said Willow.

Lynn left them in the DJ booth. They talked with Tim for a while about music, he explained how he mixed the beats and about his DJ and radio experience. They thanked Tim for his time and went back out and danced some more before getting another drink. The second drink having more of an effect on them. After a couple more hours Willow had Tara call the driver and they went back to the hotel. Once they made it to their room they helped one another out of their clothes and they made love before drifting off to sleep.

=====================================

Morning arrived and Tara rolled over to see Willow watching her sleep. She smiled as the redhead leaned down and kissed the blonde. The kiss started as a loving, good morning kiss and quickly escalated into one of need and passion. After making love Willow and Tara ordered breakfast and then quickly showered together. As they were leaving the bathroom Tara heard the phone ring and went to answer it. The front desk told her that there was a courier they’re asking for her room to deliver a package. Tara smiled knowing that it was Willow’s ring. She told the front desk to wait five minutes and then send the courier up.

“Will, you need to get dressed,” said Tara as she was pulling out clothes for them to wear.

“But I like naked time with my beautiful fiancée,” said Willow dropping the towel that had been wrapped around her.

“The courier is here,” said Tara. She watched as what she said finally registered with the redhead.

“Well, then I guess we better get dressed,” said Willow grinning and grabbing the clothes that Tara and pulled out for her.

Just as they finished getting dressed Tara heard a knock at the door. She hurried over and it was room service with their breakfast. She had them place the tray on the little table in the corner of the room. The waiter left and about a minute later there was a knock at the door. Tara hurried over and opened the door.

“Good Morning,” said Faith as Tara opened the door.

“Faith? What the hell are you doing here?” asked Tara surprised to see her best friend standing where she expected to see the courier her father had sent.

“Daddy dearest said that you were in need of this little box here,” said Faith as she walked past Tara entering the room. She then held up the box that everyone knew contained Willow’s ring.

“Hi Emily,” said Tara as she motioned for Emily to come inside.

“Good morning Tara,” said Emily smiling at the blonde.

“So, what is the big deal with this box?” asked Faith tossing the box up in the air and catching it.

“Give me that,” said Tara grabbing the box out of the air. “You know damn well what the big deal about this box is.”

Willow walked over and wrapped an arm around Tara’s waist and kissed her on the side of the head. Tara feeling this relaxed into Willow’s hold.

“I love you,” Willow whispered into Tara’s ear causing the blonde to smile.

Tara turned her head and brought their lips together causing Willow to pull her closer. Faith and Emily waited for a couple of minutes before Faith started coughing to interrupt the two lovebirds. Tara grudgingly pulled away from Willow and glared at the brunette.

“What?” asked Faith as she noticed everyone looking at her. “I gave them a couple of minutes.”

“Honey, you promised you were going to behave,” said Emily putting a hand on Faith’s shoulder.

“Fine...I’m sorry for being rude and interrupting your never-ending kiss,” Faith said turning to Willow and Tara.

“Thank you,” said Tara. “We just got breakfast, did you guys want something? We can order it quick.”

“Thank you, but we ate on the way over from the airport,” said Emily.

Faith and Emily sat down on the little couch that was in the room, while Willow and Tara sat down at the table and started to eat their breakfast.

“So, really, what are you two doing here?” asked Tara as she fed Willow a piece of bacon.

“I was serious when I said your dad asked us to bring the box. He said it was too precious to entrust to a courier. Plus, I was curious about these launch things that you two were doing,” said Faith.

“I’m just along for the ride before I start working at Maclay Realty,” said Emily.

“When are you opening?” asked Willow.

“In two weeks. I have to take my licensing test next week.”

“You’ll do fine babe,” said Faith taking Emily’s hand and squeezing it. The two shared a moment together. “So, when do we get to see what’s in the box?”

“When I’m ready,” said Tara smugly.

They finished eating and Tara set the tray outside the room for them to collect.

“So, would we be interrupting if we hung out with you two today?” asked Faith.

“Not at all. We were going to go to the Arboretum today,” said Tara.

“Why?” asked Faith.

“Because we are in the midwest and they have seasons and the trees are all sorts of pretty colors right now,” replied Tara. “And Willow has never experienced the season like this.”

“It sounds romantic,” said Emily.

“That was the other reason for the walk,” Tara said smiling.

The group decided that they would go to the Arboretum and then find some place to eat before going to check out the venue for the conference.

Tara got directions from the front desk. She thanks the man working the desk and the four headed to the car and over to the Arboretum. Once they arrived they parked and headed towards the path. Tara was holding Willow’s hand and they were leading Faith and Emily.

“It’s really beautiful here,” said Willow using her phone to take pictures of the trees and leaves. “I’ve never seen the trees like this.”

“I knew you’d love it,” said Tara as she pulled Willow into her arms and kissed her.

“Mmmm, I love you so much,” said Willow when they finally broke apart.

Faith and Emily had drifted back behind a ways. They could still see the couple, but they each had their own private space.

Tara saw a bench off to the side of the path. She moved her and Willow over to it. They sat down and cuddled close. After a while of sitting there Tara played with the box that she had in her pocket. Tara slowly opened the box and then got down on one knee in front of Willow and took the redheads left hand in hers.

“Willow, I love you with all my heart and all that I am. I never knew how happy I could be until I met you. You gave me a future and a forever. I know you already asked me, but Willow, will you marry me?” asked Tara holding the ring in one hand and Willow’s left hand in her other hand.

“I want nothing more than to marry you and build a life and future together,” said Willow as Tara pressed the ring on her finger. Tara leaned into Willow and kissed the redhead soundly.

Neither Willow nor Tara noticed that Faith and Emily had caught up to them and Faith taped the proposal and Emily took pictures so that everyone would have something to remember the moment. The two women lagged back until Willow and Tara broke their kiss.

“Congratulations you two,” said Faith as they walked up to the bench.

“Thanks,” said Willow and Tara.

“So, do we get to see the rings now?” asked Emily.

Willow and Tara extended their hands and showed Faith and Emily their rings. Both women agreed that the rings were very fitting for the happy couple.

The group continued to walk along the path enjoying the colors of the various trees. Willow and Tara frequently stopped to kiss. Faith was tempted to tease them, but opted not to. She had never seen her best friend as happy as she had since Willow came into her life. Now that they were engaged, she believed that Willow and Tara were meant to be. Fate had brought them together for this purpose.

After the Arboretum the group then headed over to the Bonfyre American Grille as recommended by the man working at the front desk. When they entered Willow and Emily commented on the decor. Willow liked the contemporary side while Emily said it reminded her of a warm ski chalet. They were seated near one a fireplace. Willow being born and raised in California appreciated the warmth that the fireplace had to offer. Especially after being outside walking through the Arboretum.

“This place is really nice,” said Emily.

“Yeah, it is,” agreed Tara.

The waiter came over and they ordered lunch. Willow ordered the California Turkey Burger, Tara ordered the Korean Beef Taco’s, Faith ordered the Shredded Pork And Pickled Cabbage Panini, and Emily ordered the Tinga.

“I didn’t see Tinga on the menu, what is it?” asked Tara.

“The menu said it was pulled chicken simmered with tomatoes, chipotles, onions and garlic.
Topped with feta, shredded lettuce & crème fraîche,” said Emily.

“That sounds good, but I hope you aren’t planning on getting kissed after that,” teased Faith. “Chipotles, onions, and garlic...yikes.”

“I’m sure if you aren’t willing someone else will be,” Emily teased back.

The group ate their lunch and then headed over to the venue to check it out. The event wasn’t for another two days, but they wanted to make sure that everything was going well with the setup since they were in town beforehand this time.

After they were done at the venue they went back to the hotel to relax and make plans for the following day. Tara told them that they were all going to the corn maze and she challenged Faith and Emily to see who could get all the map pieces and the most secret location punches. Tara knew that Faith would jump at the opportunity to take on Willow and Tara, her competitive side always looking for a good challenge.

They went for a walk along the lake nearby in the early evening. Upon returning to the hotel Willow and Tara went back to their room while Faith and Emily went to their room. They had agreed to meet up for breakfast before heading out-of-town to go to the corn maze.

=====================================

=====================================

Is this DIBS? :applause

This was a fun update! Sweet and lighthearted. I like that! A nice surprise that Faith and Emily show up as couriers. Nice touch!

And to have Willow not notice the take-off at all! No wonder Mr Mclay thought there might have been some other kind of distracton going on... :fallen

All in all, sounds like you know your facts well here. :)

Hey there Branny I'm finally up to date with your story and I just want to let you know how much I'm enjoying it. Such a sweet meet cute story with lots of stuff going on. I do like the idea that while both Buffy and Faith are in it they are in relationships with separate people and not each other and now Willow has proposed to Tara who has proposed right back to her, Can't wait for their wedding together it should be awesome :)

Sigh, if only I'd just happened to walk past that building on the street just as they got out of that cab; I'd never object to W&T passign in front of me. Glad thye only had two drinks. Leaving aside thta they aren't especially big women, Long Island Iced Tea is in the "zombie group" of cocktails, so two is kinda-sorta naybody's limit.

And that w as a beautiful proposal.

There's no *good* way to fly, but I can't think of a *better* way than with a distraction of that sort :-).

Phantasyland: I’m glad you enjoyed the update...and yes, there are some very good ways of distracting someone who is afraid of flying. :fallen I hope you enjoy the rest of their time in Wisconsin. :sigh

zampsa19752001: I’m glad you enjoyed the update. I don’t think that Joyce and Donald will be getting together...but then again, this is my mind and ANYTHING is possible. :grin

willowtaralover: Welcome back!! I’m glad you got caught up!! I like that description - sweet meets cute. :grin I had Buffy and Faith together in another story and it didn’t feel right to me, so, yeah they needed to be in separate relationships. The wedding will be coming - I’m not sure how many chapters before it. I am sad to say that it will be one of the last chapters… :cry

DaddyCatALSO: I would never object to W/T passing me on the street either. :wink And yes, two drink limit with Long Islands is a requirement. I have some stories that still haunt me 15 years later courtesy of more than 2 Long Islands. :sigh :blush

Chapter 39

Willow and Tara were holding hands as they entered the hotel restaurant and saw Faith and Emily already seated.

“Good morning,” said Tara as they approached the table.

“And how is the happy couple doing?” asked Emily.

“Never happier,” said Willow her voice full of love and devotion as she turned and got lost in Tara’s eyes.

“Now we lost them,” laughed Faith.

Willow and Tara eventually broke their shared look and turned back to the other women at the table, both blushing.

“Sorry,” said Tara dipping her head.

“Whatever T. You are entitled to be happy and Red here makes you happy.”

The waitress came and took their orders. As they ate breakfast and Tara told Willow, Faith, and Emily more about the corn maze.

“So, you mean this is a real corn field?” asked Faith.

“What the hell did you think I was talking about?” scoffed Tara.

“I don’t know. I just didn’t think it was a true corn field.”

“Well, it is. This year the maze is a Triquetra Celtic Knot,” Tara said as she pulled the picture up on her phone. “It is just like the design on our rings.”

“Oh we are so going to kick your ass in this,” stated Emily confidently.

“In your dreams,” countered Willow.

The group finished breakfast and they headed for the Treinen Farm. The group started seeing signs for the farm as they got closer. Willow could feel the excitement inside her growing.

“It is a great day out for this,” noted Willow as they pulled into the parking lot and found a parking place.

“Every day is great with you,” said Tara leaning over and brushing her lips against Willow’s. Emily and Faith rolled their eyes.

The group got out of the car and walked over to the entrance for the Farm. Tara paid the entrance fee and they each got an arm band. They entered and saw that there were already a lot of people there. They saw the concession stand and food truck, there was a small gift shop, an area with a pumpkin slingshot, and a pumpkin patch.

“Tara, can we get a caramel apple after we beat Emily and Faith through the maze?” asked Willow as they passed a couple eating caramel apples.

“Anything you want my love,” said Tara taking Willow’s hand.

They continued walking up the path to where a small group of people were gathering and being handed maps. The person giving the instructions went over the rules of the maze. They were told that they needed to find each mailbox to get the next piece of the map. When they had all 8 pieces they would have a full map. They were also told about the special locations hidden within the maze where they would find hole punches. For completing the map they would each get a free caramel apple and if they completed the map and got all of the hole punches they would also receive a free soda. Once they had finished the instruction they were led to the maze entrance and Willow and Tara went in and went one direction and Faith and Emily went the other direction.

=====================================

“We so need to kick their asses,” said Faith as she and Emily started to navigate the map.

“I agree. I checked to see if there was an app or cheats available. There isn’t.”

“I figured as much. It’s okay, we entered here and have gone this direction and we’ll need to turn left ahead.”

“I’m glad you are good at reading these, I know I’m not,” said Emily.

“That is why you have me,” said Faith kissing Emily on the cheek.

As they made their way through the maze, it didn’t take long for them to realize that this was not going to be as easy as they planned. They had come across the same bent corn-stalk three times.

“Give me the map babe,” said Emily grabbing the map out of Faith’s hand.

Emily examined the map and turned them left and then a little ways down the path she turned them left again and then right. They walked a little bit further and then Faith saw the telltale mailbox. They hurried over to the mailbox and pulled the piece out. The piece was labeled 3.

“How the hell did we get to 3 and not two?” asked Faith.

“I don’t know, but tape it to the map and let’s get going,” said Emily bending over slightly so that Faith could use her back as a table.

“Fine.”

After taping the piece to the map Emily and Faith tried to backtrack to find mailbox with the piece labeled 2.

=====================================

“This is really neat,” said Willow as she walked along the path holding Tara’s hand.

“Yeah, maybe we can make this an annual trip and then when we have kids we can bring them,” suggested Tara causing Willow to stop in her tracks. “Are you okay Sweetie?”

“Yeah, I just get full body tingles when you talk about our future like that. Especially when you mention us having a family.”

“I tingle when I think about that stuff too. We better get moving though. If I know Faith she is running through the maze to find the pieces.”

“Alright my love, we’ll get moving,” said Willow as they made a few turns and came upon the mailbox labeled 2.

Tara attached the map piece to the map and they headed out for the next piece. As they were walking they heard Faith and Emily talking. Tara pushed them through an off area in the maze so that they weren’t seen.

“That was close. I wonder what pieces they have gotten. We need to beat...hey, there is one of the secret locations. Come on Will, quickly,” said Tara as she ran to the stake in the ground. Tara quickly used the hole punch on the map. “That’s one piece and one punch.”

Willow smiled at the competitive side of her fiancée. She hadn’t realized how competitive Tara was or maybe she thought it was just against Faith. They had been best friends for a lot of years.

“We’ll beat them I promise,” said Willow squeezing Tara’s hand as they rounded a corner and saw another mailbox and it was labeled 3.

=====================================

Faith and Emily wandered through the maze neither certain where they were until they came across another mailbox. This mailbox was labeled 7.

“What the hell?” asked Faith.

“So we wandered too low? Ugh! Why did we let Tara talk us into this?” asked Emily.

“I don’t know how we let her talk us into it, but I say we just start going up and down as best we can and see if we can find the other stuff that way.”

“Faith, the path’s turn unless you want to go through the parts of the corn field that are supposed to be the walls. If you want to do that, babe you are on your own,” laughed Emily. “I am not going to rub up against some gross and dirty corn-stalks just to beat Tara and Willow.”

“I’d do it for you,” said Faith.

“Bullshit! Now come on, pick a direction to head in.”

“Fine, let’s go this way,” said Faith pointing to her left. The two turned and made their way along the path.

“Hey, that is one of those special things we’re supposed to find,” said Emily pointing to the metal sign post holding the hole punch on a chain.

“Sweet,” said Faith as they raced over and used the hole punch on their map.

“Let’s keep going the same way.”

The two moved along and came across mailbox 6.

“At least we aren’t hitting the same ones,” laughed Faith.

=====================================

Willow and Tara had managed to find all but one of the map pieces and half of the hidden punches.

“Come here,” said Tara pulling Willow into a group of thickly covered corn-stalks.

“What are w…” started Willow before she felt Tara’s lips pressed to her own.

Willow let out a groan and wrapped her arms around the blonde and pulled her closer. Their bodies pressed together. Tara’s hands dropped to cup Willow’s butt as she deepened the kiss. When air became an issue the two broke apart and leaned their foreheads together.

“That’s why,” Tara said smiling as they regained control of their breathing.

“Good reason,” said Willow gently kissing Tara again.

“Get a room,” came a voice from nearby. Willow instantly recognized Faith’s voice.

“Shush you,” said Tara leading Willow back to the path.

“So, how much do you have left to get?” asked Emily.

“We aren’t telling,” said Willow.

“Fine, latah,” said Faith grabbing Emily’s hand and almost sprinting off.

“What the hell was that?” Willow asked looking at Tara.

“I don’t know, but let’s go find that last map piece. I can’t wait to get you alone later,” said Tara her eyes going a bit darker.

“Yes, ma’am.”

Willow and Tara wandered around the maze for a little longer before coming across the last puzzle piece they needed. They taped the piece on and headed back to the tower to wait for Faith and Emily.

Willow and Tara were sitting in the tower when they saw Faith and Emily mid-way through the maze. Tara grabbed her cell phone and sent a text to Faith.

Tara: Ever get the feeling you’re being watched??
Faith: Huh?
Tara: Duh, I see you...put your arm down, you’re killing the corn.
Faith: Where the fuck are you?
Tara: Tower...LOL

Faith looked up and could barely see the rim of the tower. She shook her head and took Emily’s hand and they made their way out of the maze. Tara seeing them head that way took Willow’s hand and they met the two woman at the base of the tower.

“So? How’d you do?” asked Willow.

“All the pieces and three punches,” said Emily. “How about you two?”

“All the pieces and four punches,” grinned Tara.

“No way,” said Faith looking at their paper. “Fine T, you won this, but we still have the Pumpkin Slingshot to do.”

“You’ll still lose,” Tara said bumping shoulders with Faith. The two old friends laughed and started to make their way towards the Pumpkin Slingshot completely forgetting about the two women they were with.

“So, wanna get a caramel apple?” Emily asked Willow. “I mean, they don’t seem to realize we aren’t there...and like you, I thought they looked awesome.”

“Sure,” said Willow. The two women turned to go towards the food truck.

=====================================

“You are so going down this time Tara,” said Faith. “This is MY playing field.”

“Whatever. How do you figure it is your playing field?”

“I am a slayer. I slay the competition. In this case...you and Red,” laughed Faith.

“Whatever, right Sweetie,” said Tara receiving no response.

Tara and Faith turned and realized that their significant others were not behind them.

“Um, where’d they go?” asked Tara.

“I have no idea. When did they disappear?”

“No clue. I think we need to go find them though.”

Tara and Faith started to backtrack towards the tower to figure out where the other two women had gone.

=====================================

“So, how long do you think it will be before they notice we’re gone?” asked Emily.

“Soon probably. Did you know they were that competitive?”

“I knew that Faith was, but I didn’t know about Tara. I should have guessed since they are so close though.”

Willow ordered two caramel apples and paid before handing one to Emily. The two found a picnic bench to sit at to eat their apples.

“These are awesome,” said Emily as she wiped the caramel that had dripped on her chin.

“Yeah, they really are. Tara and Faith have no clue what they are missing.”

“Yeah, I agree.”

The two women finished their apples in silence before throwing their trash away and heading towards the Pumpkin Slingshot.

=====================================

“Where did they go?” asked Tara as she looked around but couldn’t see Willow anywhere.

“Maybe they went to the bathroom?”

“You’d think they would have told us.”

“We would have told you where we were going, but you two wandered off in your competitive haze,” said Willow as she and Emily walked up.

Tara wrapped her arms around Willow and pulled her close.

“Don’t ever scare me like that again,” scolded Tara softly in Willow’s ear.

“I’m sorry, you two were in your own world so we went and had a caramel apple,” Willow said pulling back from the hug and looking Tara in the eyes.

Tara could see that the redhead was sorry, but she still hadn’t gotten through her internal panic.

“Hey, I didn’t mean to upset you,” said Willow her hand caressing her lover’s cheek. “Do you still love me?”

“Yes, of course I still love you,” said Tara looking at Willow in disbelief.

Emily looked sheepishly at Faith. The brunette shook her head and then hugged her girlfriend.

“Not cool woman,” was all Faith said. She kissed the side of Emily’s head and then they gave Willow and Tara a moment together.

After Tara had calmed down, she took Willow’s hand and they made their way back to the Pumpkin Slingshot.

=====================================

“So, how were the apples?” asked Faith as the four stood in line.

“Awesome,” said Emily smiling towards Willow.

Faith was the first to launch her pumpkin. She missed the target, but was very close. Emily launched hers and clipped the edge of the target.

“So, Emily is in the lead,” said Faith a glint in her eyes.

“We haven’t launched yet,” said Tara sticking her tongue out.

Tara walked up to the slingshot. She aimed and then launched the pumpkin. She landed off the target in about the exact same spot that Faith had landed. Now it was Willow’s turn. The redhead could feel them all staring at her. She knew if she made this then she and Tara would have bragging rights for a LONG time. Willow out of the corner of her eye saw Tara walk over to her.

“I know you can do this,” whispered the blonde in her ear causing the redhead to shiver with desire.

“That may not help,” laughed Willow. “But I love how it felt.”

The two exchanged smiles. Willow knew in that moment that they needed to beat Faith and Emily. Willow aimed and then launched her pumpkin. It was like everything switched to slow motion. They watched the pumpkin come out of the slingshot. The pumpkin went higher in the air than the previous three. As it neared the target all four women held their breath. The pumpkin landed square in the middle of the target. Willow and Tara jumped up and down in excitement. Emily quickly joined them. Faith smiled, but her competitive nature wouldn’t allow her to celebrate.

Willow and Tara went through the gift shop buying gifts for their family back in Sunnydale. Willow also got gifts for Emily and Faith.

=====================================

The drive back to the hotel was quiet. Emily and Faith fell asleep about 10 minutes into the drive home. Willow and Tara held hands and exchanged longing looks. When the arrived back at the hotel Faith and Emily told the other couple that they would meet them in the morning to go to the launch. They said their goodnights and each went to their room.

“Today was so much fun,” said Willow as they entered their room.

“Yeah, it was. I’m sorry my competitive side took over,” said Tara wrapping her arms around Willow’s shoulders and pulling her close.

“It is okay Baby. I had no idea that you were that competitive. Now I do, and I know we need to win more often,” laughed Willow wrapping her arms around Tara’s waist.

Tara leaned down and kissed Willow softly. “You are the best fiancée in the world.”

“I am the only one you will ever know,” Willow said.

“Yes ma’am,” Tara said pressing their lips together again. “Shower or bath?”

“Mmmm, shower,” said Willow pulling out of the embrace and taking Tara’s hand and pulling her into the bathroom.

The two women undress one another before starting the water and stepping into the shower. Their lips meeting and hands roaming as their body, soul, and mind became one. They made slow, sensual love to one another before washing the other’s body. Both spent from the day and the love making in the shower, they crawled into bed, cuddled together, and drifted off to sleep.

=====================================

Morning arrived and Willow and Tara had breakfast in their room before getting ready to meet Faith and Emily in the hotel lobby. The four were picked up by the Event Coordinators assistant and driven across the street and parking lot to the venue. Tara and Willow briefly met with the Event Coordinator to go over the last minute details while Faith and Emily wandered around looking at the set up.

“This looks really nice,” said Faith as Willow and Tara joined them.

“Thanks. Willow sent out the set up specs to all of the venue’s so they would be able to get it mostly prepared,” Tara said looking towards the redhead proudly.

“Hey, less work for us,” laughed Willow.

They tested the sound system and lighting before Willow wired the microphone for Tara. The four of them were in the audio/visual hut. Willow kissed Tara softly and they said their ‘I love you’s’ before Tara headed up on stage. Faith and Emily opted to hang out in the hut with Willow. Tara had spent 20 minutes trying to convince Faith to come up on stage with her. She hadn’t succeeded, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.

“She’s really good at this,” whispered Faith during Tara’s part of the show.

“Yeah, she is,” said Willow with pride.

After the presentation was over Tara joined them in the a/v hut so that Willow could remove her microphone. After removing the microphone Willow kissed Tara for a couple of minutes until both Faith and Emily were coughing to interrupt them.

“Hey, what is the purpose of ruining smoochie time?” asked Willow attempting to glare at the women, but being unable to hide the grin trying to creep across her face.

“You will have plenty of time for that later,” said Faith.

“Yeah, but now is more fun,” said Tara pulling Willow close and kissing her neck.

“Yes, but now you are supposed to be working,” added Faith.

“Spoilsport,” said Willow and Tara in unison.

The group left the a/v hut and went separate ways to mingle with those in attendance.

=====================================

As the conference ended and they had started the clean-up Willow was approached by one of the vendors.

“Ms. Rosenberg?” asked the man with the round spectacles.

“Yes?”

“Hi, my name is Rupert Giles. I am going to be the new librarian floating between Sunnydale High School and UC-Sunnydale.”

“Wow, floating between both. You must have some magical powers or something. That is a pretty big job.”

“Yes, so I have been told. I was wondering if you did any freelance work outside of what you do at TDM?”

“I haven’t, but what kind of work are we talking about?”

“Well, I would like to create a system to catalog all of the books in both the high school and college and then allow them to cross reference one another. I want to make it so that no kid or adult is denied access to books simply because of where they are attending school.”

“Don’t they already have an electronic system?” asked Willow.

“I want to create a simplified gui interface,” said the older man.

“Well, I would be happy to give back to my alma mater’s. I don’t know if I will have a lot of free time until after this campaign ends, but maybe when it does you and I can get together and talk.”

“That would be fantastic. Have you been with TDM long?”

“No, only about 6 or 7 months. I believe in the work they do and the message that they are getting out there.”

“As do I. That is why I flew here to speak with you,” said Giles.

“Where did you fly in from if you don’t mind me asking?”

“England,” said the man as he saw Willow’s eyes widen. “I start my new job in Sunnydale next week. I just came earlier so that I might have a chance to speak with you.”

“Well, welcome to the US and to Sunnydale,” Willow said smiling and shaking the man’s hand.

“Thank you.”

Tara walked up to the two of them smiling.

“Ms. Maclay, that was an amazing presentation,” said the man.

“Thank you. I think that since this is the third time I’ve done it I have it down to a pretty good routine,” Tara said smiling.

“Tara, this is Rupert Giles. He is going to be the librarian at both Sunnydale High and UC-Sunnydale.”

“It is fantastic to meet you.”

“And you as well. I won’t keep you ladies any longer. Ms. Rosenberg it was a pleasure to speak with you and I look forward to hearing from you after the campaign has completed.

“Thank you.”

With that the older man walked away and Willow turned to see Tara giving her a questioning look.

“What?” asked Willow nervously.

“What was my gorgeous, sexy, and incredibly brilliant fiancée talking to the librarian about?” Tara asked pulling Willow into her arms and raising an eyebrow.

“He wants me to help create a linked interface between the two libraries so that every student no matter which school they are attending can have access to the books.”

“I think that sounds like an amazing idea. Plus it is a good way to give back to the schools.”

“Yeah, but it will take away from our time,” pouted Willow.

“We’ll make it work. I’ll let you sit on my lap while you code,” Tara said waggling her eyebrows.

“Now THAT sounds like fun.”

Willow and Tara were joined by Faith and Emily. They discussed how successful the conference was and how much energy it took out of them. Faith told Willow and Tara that she didn’t know how they were managing the energy that this took out of them.

“I’m ready to sleep and I didn’t really do anything today,” said Faith.

“You interacted with the vendors, that was something. You also pestered Willow in the A/V hut,” Tara said looking sternly at her best friend.

“Narc,” said Faith to Willow.

“She didn’t say a word. I know you and well, you just confirmed it for me.”

Faith blushed as the others laughed.

“Let’s go,” said Emily.

The group caught a ride back to the hotel and they decided to order in and watch movies. Willow and Tara were cuddled together on the bed while Faith and Emily were curled up under the blankets on the floor.

“T, this feels like one of our old sleepovers,” said Faith.

“It does,” said Tara.

Emily and Willow exchanged a look before Willow decided to speak up.

“So, you two have had sleepovers with significant others before?” said Willow.

“Yeah, why is this the first WE are hearing of this?” asked Emily.

“I...er...Sweet...er,” stammered Tara.

“WHAT? NO!!” exclaimed Faith. “No we never had others with us...I just, grrrr, I just meant that she was on the nice comfortable bed and I was on the hard floor. I...er…”

“I see,” said Emily. “Or is there something more about your relationship that Willow and I should know?”

“Oh hell no,” answered Tara quickly causing Faith to look at her with hurt in her eyes. “I don’t mean it like that. I just mean that you are like a sister to me and the thought of that - nuh uh!”

“I get it T...and you are like a sister to me as well,” said Faith letting her friend off the hook.

Willow and Emily started to laugh.

“You two did that on purpose,” stated Tara.

“Maybe,” Willow said laughing still. “What are you going to do about it?”

Tara looked at Willow for a moment, then at Faith. Neither Emily nor Willow saw the look pass between the two woman, but within seconds they found themselves flipped and pinned on their back with their lovers body holding them in place.

“What the…” started Willow before Tara leaned down and her face was inches away from the redheads.

“What am I doing to do about it?” asked Tara licking her lips and seeing Willow’s eyes following her tongue. “This!”

Tara leaned down and kissed Willow with passion and desire. She thrust her tongue into the redhead’s mouth causing Willow to moan at the feeling of her lovers tongue.

Faith simply leaned down and kissed Emily with force showing her love for the woman.

When they finally broke Faith and Emily excused themselves to their room. As soon as she heard the door close Tara started to remove her’s and Willow’s clothes.

=====================================

Willow could feel the heat of Tara’s naked body pressed against her own naked body. Tara’s mouth was moving over Willow’s body slowly. She felt Tara sucking on her pulse point at the base of her neck.

“Mmmm, Tara,” Willow moaned softly as she pulled Tara up and into a steamy kiss. The moment their lips touched it was as if the world was lost and they were the only two that existed.

They made love all night, completely lost in one another. When light streamed in through the curtains they both started to giggle.

“We are like a pair of horny teenagers,” laughed Tara.

“I think being newly engaged and/or newlyweds makes it okay to act like a horny teenager,” said Willow as she sucked on Tara’s lower lip.

“Mmmm, I can’t imagine not wanting you constantly.”

Willow flipped them over so that she was on top. “That is a very...very...good...answer,” said Willow punctuating each word with a kiss.

“We’re going to have to get ready soon,” Tara said regretfully.

“Don’t wanna,” pouted Willow.

Tara couldn’t resist the urge to suck on Willow’s outstretched lip. They both moaned in the feeling. Willow and Tara lay there kissing for a long time before Tara’s phone alarm went off telling them they had to leave for the airport in an hour.

They got up, showered together, got dressed and packed. They were just about to call Faith and Emily when they heard a knock on the door.

“Hey guys,” said Tara as she answered the door.

“Good morning,” said Faith. “Looking a little tired there T. Did you not sleep well?”

“More like didn’t sleep,” said Tara walking over and wrapping her arms around Willow and kissing the side of her head.

Emily laughed, Willow blushed, and Faith just opened and closed her mouth. She was stunned by Tara’s candor on the subject.

“Well, alright then. When do you two have to head to the airport?” asked Faith.

“In about 15 minutes,” said Willow looking at the clock.

“Us too,” said Emily. “Where are you headed next?”

“Texas, and then home for the Sunnydale/West Coast launch.”

“I thought you were doing two launches on the west coast?” asked Emily.

“We were going to, but Dad sent me an email this morning stating that we were just doing one. I haven’t called to ask yet what is up. We were sort of occupied.”

“I’m shocked. Tara Maclay has found SOMETHING to distract her from work.”

“Not something Faith, someone. Someone very special,” said Tara before pulling Willow’s lips to hers.

“I love you,” whispered Willow after they broke the kiss.

“I love you too,” said Tara brushing their lips together again before turning towards Faith and Emily who were blushing having witnessed something so normal between Willow and Tara, but this time it felt so much more intense.

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

=====================================

As the conference ended and they had started the clean-up Willow was approached by one of the vendors.

“Ms. Rosenberg?” asked the man with the round spectacles.

“Yes?”

=====================================
