Well since I'll be the first kitten to see the new ep tonight, I'll quote what Zelda said from last week and say...

Here's the place to discuss this week's Buffy after you've seen it. Keep all your comments in this thread for the first day.

Hello Warduke, this is your stalker reporting for duty. How many hours from now may we expect your report? Oh, and if you give it, please be sure to mention who says the "honey...6000 times etc..." line.

Editing to add: Nevermind, I just read the spoiler, I know the answer. It is the one I wanted.

Well I just saw Crush, it was a good ep, not much W/T only two scenes but they were cute scenes.

First scene is them dancing, not slow dancing but dancing slowly, not the same as the dance in Family but still sweet, they were holding hands and it was Tara who said “honey” which is great since I've wanted them to call each other little pet names for awhile now.

Second scene is W/T with Buffy and W/T are talking about The Hunchback of Notre Dame and then Tara is looking for some change for the vending machine and Willow gives her some change AND a very cute smile and of course Tara smiles right back, damn, they even make something like giving someone change a sweet moment that makes you go…awwww

The best line of the ep, Harmony after seeing Dru, tells Spike…You better not be thinking what I think you’re thinking, cause my answer is the same as always, no threesomes unless it’s boy, boy, girl, or Charlize Theron…

Since the people who post the wildfeed reviews describe the whole ep, that’s why I just write about W/T, the best part of any ep

Thank you Warduke! I can go to sleep now finally hehehe. You're right, W/T are the best part of any ep, and these scenes sound like they are worthy of some serious replaying over and over again. Can't wait for the sound files and the pics from these scenes.

Thanks a bunch Warduke! Thank you I love that Tara said honey. It's about time. I know some people don't like little names like that, but I think it's totally cute. It also fits with the context of Tara's worry. I love it. Also, I really didn't expect Tara originally in this ep (because of Dru and the whole s/b thing). So I am happy to see 2 scenes. Can't wait to see it.

Now that I’ve seen the ep again, well ok, just the W/T scenes there’s something I noticed that I missed the first time, when W/T sit down with X/A and Buffy, Xander realizes that Spike stole some of his money and he goes to see Spike at the bar, well when Xander gets up, we see W/T sitting and Tara is rubbing Willows arm, you better be paying attention because it only lasts about half a second and I’m also sure you guys will love the way Tara looks at Willow in this scene, you know the “I completely adore you” look but then again, Tara always looks at Willow that way

I mention this because I know my fellow kittens would have certainly caught it tomorrow night…Warduke, how could you miss the arm rubbing

Xita, I think little names like that are really cute too, I was very happy to finally hear one of them use one, hopefully there’s more to come (sweetheart, sweetie, baby…they’re all good )

~one thing that bothers me...this is the Valentines eppy, Willow and Tara should kiss in this episode I don't care what any censors say....everybody kisses on V-Day...I'm sorry I would not just rub my b/f's arm on V-Day or ANYDAY!!!!!!....come on people lets be a little more realistic (sp?)

but other than that, ya the W/T parts seem great

From Ain't It Cool News

BUFFY 5.14 FAQ
WHAT’S IT CALLED?
“Crush.”

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE?
Teleplay is credited to David Fury, who also authored “Real Me,” the series’ first Dawn-centric installment.

WHAT DOES TV GUIDE SAY?
“After being scolded by her big sister for having a crush on Spike (James Marsters), Dawn sheds light on the identity of the true object of the neutered vamp's affection---Buffy. With his frustrating Slayer fixation finally out of the closet, Spike swallows his pride and professes his love to her face, only to be rebuffed by the supremely creeped-out Buffster. Angry and humiliated, a sulky Spike returns home to find Drusilla (Juliet Landau) waiting...and she's ready to take him back.”

SUCKOMETRIC READINGS?
This “Buffy” must rank as one of the finest ever produced! It’s got everything: huge laughs, nonstop plot twists, major character development, suspense, the best use of Spike since he and Dru fled Sunnydale together almost three years ago, and the best use of Dru since she and Spike fled Sunnydale almost three years ago (even if one considers her recent jaw-dropping stint on “Angel”)!!

IS “CRUSH” AS GOOD AS “FOOL FOR LOVE,” LAST NOVEMBER’S SPIKE-FEST WITH ALL THE FLASHBACKS?
Better!

THE BIG NEWS?
If you’re like me, you will find yourself, against all expectations, rooting for Spike to win the slayer’s heart!

WHA?? SPIKE AND BUFFY COULD ACTUALLY COUPLE??
The Spike that inhabits this episode makes it seems almost LIKELY. And consider this piece of dialogue, spoken just outside the Spikecrypt:

BUFFY: You cannot have a crush on something that is dead and evil and a vampire!

DAWN: Right. That’s why you were never with Angel for three years.

BUFFY: Angel’s different. He has a soul.

DAWN: Spike has a chip. Same diff.

IS DRU STILL IN THE COMPANY OF DARLA?
She is not!

DOES DRU SURVIVE THIS EPISODE?
This is the major source of tonight’s suspense, keeping us guessing until the show’s final minutes! It’s particularly nerve-wracking because Dru quickly reminds us why she’s one of the most compelling and entertaining characters in the Buffyverse. Is Team Whedon REALLY perverse enough to dust her just as she’s returned to major-fun mode??

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT SPIKE TONIGHT?
For the first time in a long time, he’s virtually back to his old pre-Initiative self: charismatic, quick-witted, directed, independent, and brimming with disdainful asides. To see him like this is to be reminded again that – as good as “Angel” has gotten – they probably gave the wrong vampire his own show.

BUT SPIKE IS STILL EVIL, RIGHT?
That’s the OTHER great thing about the new William! The combination of his brainchip and his emerging love for Buffy really seems to have transformed him! Not only is he as amusing as the season-two Spike, he finally seems to be moving in the direction of good and right. Like Bill Murray in “Groundhog Day,” he’s been dealing with adversity so long he’s finally seeing the virtue in being virtuous! Even if Buffy and Spike don’t find coupledom together, we can only hope James Marsters has lots of years left on his Mutant Enemy contract.

WHAT’S SO FUNNY ABOUT PEACE, LOVE AND BUFFY 5.14?
Spike’s sex-games with Harmony (there’s a great Harm line about one of South Africa’s leading film actresses)! And Xander’s new Bronze alter-ego! And Buffy’s reaction to Spike offering her Bourbon! And the lamest, jiffy-popping vampire lair in Sunnydale! And more! This hour: guffaw-packed!

HOW IS DAWN ADAPTING TO HER NEW SELF-KNOWLEDGE?
Very well, thanks in large part to Spike! It’s really his ongoing relationship with Buffy’s sister that lets us see the good in him.

ANY SIGN OF BEN/GLORIFICUS, OR THE KNIGHTS WHO SAY “KEY!!”?
Only Ben, who shows up ever-so-briefly -- just long enough to chat up Buffy and generate a little jealousy.

IS XANDER MADE A JUNIOR WATCHER?
No!

HOW DO YOU SEE MAY’s SEASON-CLOSING 100TH EPISODE?
It will be (pardon the pun) glorious!!! Gimme a colossal, apocalyptic two-hour Crisis on Infinite Buffyverses crossover uniting Buffy, Spike, Giles, Willow, Tara, Anya and Xander with Angel, Cordy, Faith, Riley, Oz, Wesley, and the ghost of Kendra!! I might even tape it!

TELL US HOW TO SQUANDER OUR TUESDAYS, O HERCULES!
The WB’s “Buffy” at 8:00, the WB’s “Angel” at 9:00, and MTV’s “Road Rules/Real World Challenge” at 10:00. Tape ABC’s “The Mole” at 8:00 and Fox’s “Dark Angel” at 9:00. Buy a TiVo and record Fox Family’s 2-hour “Freaks & Geeks” block at 8:00.

HERC’S RATING FOR “BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER” 5.14?
****

The Hercules T. Strong Rating System:
**** better than most motion pictures

*** actually worth your valuable time

** as horrible as most stuff on TV

* makes you quietly pray for bulletins

I warn you not to defy me!

I am – Hercules!

Was that a "honey" thrown in there? Oh, happy day!
Ahh, pretty good ep, and it was really great to actually hear Tara get to say more than one small line at a time. Every ep, she gets more confident. Can't wait to see more.
And, despite the fact that she is unceasingly annoying, it was good to see Harmony in the episode. I was beginning to wonder what had happened to her!
Still, the season seems to be moving along a little slow - from drawing out the Buffy/Riley thing to doing the same thing to Buffy/Spike. Did anyone else see the preview to next week's show? More of the same. *sigh* Oh, well. This has been a fabulous show from the beginning, so there should be a decent payoff if I can just hold on...

Well, there wasn't much W/T action. I will say one thing though: they cannot dance, and
is Anya not a little firecracker on the dance floor?

Amber looked hot as always Love the hair

Now, okay, Spike . . . I'm sorry, but this
Buffy thing just makes him look pathetic. It's pretty evident that he only cares about
getting reciprocation for his affections in terms with how much attention Buffy is willing to pay to him, as seen with his threatening to set Dru loose if Buffy doesn't
tell him what he wants to hear. Thus is consistent with the "I'm willing to inflict violence (the gun in FFL) if I don't recieve the affection I want."

And I'm sorry, but after tonight I really want Spike and Dru back together. They have passion, chemistry, history, and there's that other little thing . . . oh yeah, they actually both *like* each other. This episode made it painfully evident to me that Spike's obssession with Buffy is borne more out of
frustration about his inability to be evil than any true affection for her.

Plus I have dreadfully misssed my vampire ladies

the dance scene with them holding hands and looking all happy was sooooo cute !!!
especially when you play it slow mo

they hold hands coming off the dance floor and buffy picks up on Tara's concerned little arm stroke of willow.

poor willow with lingering headaches.

Tara calling willow 'Honey' and the two of them sitting with no daylight between them !!! who hoo looking like a couple finally!!

and such a nice gesture with willow handing tara the money for the vending machine
loved the girls hair tonight
but please someone tell the xan man to buy some shampoo and spring for a cut!

eekiboo posted 02-13-2001 19:43 EST (US)
when Tara said "honey" to Willow... i yelled out: "did she actually say HONEY?" whoo hoo! that definitely deserves a big snoopy dance! our thinking abt Tara's pet name for Willow is over. all we need now is Willow's pet name for Tara...

oh, but their *moment* was cute! Tara looking for change and Willow giving her coins and an exchange of *smiles!* and this was done without them saying anything! it was a silent yet meaningful moment, Willow knew Tara needed something and gave it w/o hesitation! and Tara saying "thank you my love" through a great big "smile!" oh God, i just love 'em! and Buffy saying: "was he one of the singing gargoyles?" referring to Tara's asking her if it was Charles Laughton in the movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." LOL!

loved Tara's 'do! disliked Willow's scarf (while talking to Buffy at her house) and then her wardrobe during the vending machine scene. (sorry)

i was searching for W/T the first scene and cried out "yay! there they are dancing!" they were both holding hands and getting jiggy with it. cute! and yes Anyalvr, they don't know how to dance. pity!

loved Buffy's expression when she finally found out Spike's in love with her! i sorta gawked at the tv with her! heh.heh. but was too sad for Spike when she didn't want him anywhere near her or her family and friends! the pain he must be feeling! and the door slamming in his face! ugh!

yes Warduke, i saw that 2-second "rub" Tara gave Willow's elbow, and she was even lookin' so gentle and loving again at her and she didn't glance at anyone even while everyone was talking, her eyes were concentrated on Willow alone! i think she was worried coz Willow had a headache and had to take Advil (or aspirin or Tylenol.) and Tara has warned Willow 6,000 times not to take teleportation spells...

Tara: Honey, in case you didn't hear me the first 6,000 times, no more teleportation spells.

so Tara's been naggin' her all the time and Willow's not listening! talk abt an old married couple! heh.heh.

how come when Spike bit into the girl's neck, he didn't feel a thud. isn't it he still has the "chips ahoy" in his head which would have caused a painful reaction? hmmmm, or probably he was just pretending for Dru's sake so she'll think he'll go with her again to do the nasties... ok, i answered my own Q.. duh?! heh.heh.

it wasn't that bad an ep! tho' would have been better with more W/T scenes. TTFN, peace!

tvsurfer posted 02-13-2001 19:55 EST (US)
The girl was dead, dru snapped her neck so spike could feed without pain since she was dead. Remember in the troll eppie he could have had the blood of the victims but didn't feed to please buffy

and yah what was up with the awful scarf on willow? does she ever wear scarfs?
last time a scarf was worn wasn't it by buffy because she got bit by dracula?

is willow hiding a vamp bite ? or a tara love bite perhaps ?

Anyalvr posted 02-13-2001 19:56 EST (US)
I didn't see any indication that Spike felt pain. I think the point of that whole shenanigan was to prove that with a little mind-warp the chip ceases to matter.

HAH! and another HAH! and a HAHAH!

i really liked this ep, lots of squealage moments for me. when buffy socked spike, when dru first showed up, when her doll was shown, when harmony arrowed spike, and most importantly..HONEY! why did they have to dance so..so...oh i dont know a nice way to say it. floppy? anya was sure swingin that hair around. go girl.

oh that was so terribly cute. who else thought tara looked good enough to eat in that scene? oh wait...she looks good enough to eat almost always. mmmHMM!

i was really hoping spike would return to dru. i miss big bad...its cute to see him get all flustered and all but in all honesty, when he and dru were scoping out the kissing couple above...he had that evil look on his face...and i was like ooh yeah...thats the spike im talkin about.

alas. but its all good, we get more buffy dissing spike. and thats always fun.

loved the preview. tight little body... LOL oh GAWD spike.

I really enjoyed to-night's episodes. It's too bad that, given it was the Buffy Valentine's episode, we didn't see more of Willow and Tara. However the scenes they were in were delightful. They looked so happy on the dance floor and I loved it when Tara called Willow honey.

Poor Spike, talk about being unlucky in love. Getting dumped by three girls on Valentines day has to be some kind of record.

Spike and Dru are good together. There is a passion, a chemistry there that Spike's relationship with Buffy could never match. Dru brings out the best (or is that the worst) in him. To-night we saw Spike the way he should be. To quote from the Ain't It Cool News review he was "charismatic, quick-witted, directed, independent, and brimming with disdainful asides".

The one part of the evening that made me angry was the WB promo for Grosse Pointe. To see this promo acclaiming the SMG kiss on that show as the "hottest kiss on television" right after watching the Buffy Valentine's episode where Willow and Tara weren't allowed to kiss was infuriating. That honor belongs solely to our two wiccans.

They didn't really focus on any other pairings in this episode besides the Spike/Buffy/Harmony/Dru thing(not all together at the same time, you know what Harm said...only with Charlize! LOL!) which was kind of disappointing for a Valentine's Day ep.

I mean, i Live for Tara/Willow moments and Xander/Anya moments are always funny and oddly endearing, i wish they had put some more fous on the other scoobs.

A few random thoughts...

--Willow and Tara, adorable as always. I've got a bad feeling that Tara won't let her Honey be the one to take the spell backlash next time...
--Okay, Dawn continues to be a typical teenager, with a crush on the O-Soooo-Wrong-Guy. Snerk. Anybody else notice she's actually quite inciteful?
--Drusilla killed the people on the train. She also killed Spike's victim at the Bronze.
--Spike is changing into something, and some one, new. Right now he's still the charmingly evil s.o.b. we've known before, but there's more to it than that. He's lost virtually everything that's ever defined him. Killing. Dru. His isolation from the prey. Now he's growing new parts to his personality, feeling emotions and trying to figure out what to do about it. Of course he's real awkward (wow is that an understatement) but methinks that's pretty much to be expected. This is proving an interesting journey.
--I can sympathise with Xander. He has no romantic interest in Dawn at all (he's not a perv, fer god's sake) but her crush was a nice little ego-boost that's gone bye bye. Oh well.
--Wow. Anya can dance!

This was a good w/t ep. I was watching late season 3 eps and it bothered me how w/o touched and sat closer than w/t usually did. However, I saw that same kind of thing with wt/ tonight. I saw casual touching, rubbing and sitting closely together. Very nice. Notice the look right before the arm rub

The rest of the ep. Not sure. I just thought it was cute Spike was dressing differently now. LOL. And the not so subtle metaphor of the hunchback. If they have no intention of going through with this, they need to drop it. Harmony was funny and Drusilla not on long enough.
And Dru was the killer at the train.

The look here on Amber's face is precious:

The arm touch would be this one:

Amber did another bendover while at the candy machine and Buffy/Sarah took a sneak peek:

And the rest of the vidcaps for this ep are here although they're a bit on the dark side due to the usual crappy WB feed I get.

Think maybe by next season she could be fed up with men (let's face it, among vampires Spike has been her best option so far). The little ditz might decide Willow has the right idea--not only about girls but in terms of one girl in particular! You can't tell me that wouldn't make a wonderfully wacky/scary episode!

when Tara said "honey" to Willow... i yelled out: "did she actually say HONEY?" whoo hoo! that definitely deserves a big snoopy dance! our thinking abt Tara's pet name for Willow is over. all we need now is Willow's pet name for Tara...

oh, but their *moment* was cute!

Dead Dog posted 02-13-2001 23:44 EST (US)
The look here on Amber's face is precious:

The arm touch would be this one:

Amber did another bendover while at the candy machine and Buffy/Sarah took a sneak peek:

And the rest of the vidcaps for this ep are here although they're a bit on the dark side due to the usual crappy WB feed I get.

alas. but its all good, we get more buffy dissing spike. and thats always fun.

loved the preview. tight little body... LOL oh GAWD spike.

oh, and i was very impressed with anyas observation of xanders comment toward spike being potentially hurtful. how HUMAN of you anya! bravo!

perversely excited for grosse point.

And the rest of the vidcaps for this ep are here although they're a bit on the dark side due to the usual crappy WB feed I get.

thank u Judy, i was on the 'net, checking e-mails while watching it and at the same time looking for W/T moments so my mind was in an excited mode...heh.heh. i should have given it my undivided attention. (bad eek! slaps wrists 3 1/2 times...heh.heh.) forgot abt the doll... so it was Dru! yeah! also, Xander is getting way more confident here. he gets rid of Spike, gives a big tip and confronts him re: the money! go Xander! tho' he was kind of a meany towards Spike.

is willow hiding a vamp bite ? or a tara love bite perhaps ?

yeah, i could not understand why Willow had to wear that huge scarf! it wasn't that cold now was it? atleast the scarf Buffy wore was better than this. oh well, it's probably Tara's fault giving her lotsa kissy marks! and Willow's too embarrassed to show it to her bestfriend... heh.heh. pax

did anyone notice all the poodles on willows sweater? guess she is a dog person. where is kitty fantastico these days?

Speaking of Willow's attire, did anyone notice the blue ribbon she was wearing? It was near her right shoulder, under the big pink scarf. The blue ribbon is a statement against censorship, isn't it? Think it was a deliberate message?

tvsurfer posted 02-14-2001 07:38 EST (US)
I didn't know about blue ribbons
thats cool if it is

which reminds me did anyone see the wb promo for SMG on grosse point and how they are billing this the kiss of the century ??

scussse me but how can they be out promoting a kiss on one network show and banning it on another?

The blue ribbon worn by Willow

Not knowing what it was about bugged me so I did a net search.

It's from Free Speech Online, apparently a campaign of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

You know...(cue evil idea music)

Based on Harmony's comment, I've gotta say she's got good taste when it comes to women. (My brother pointed out Charlize Theron's legs begin at her neck!) Think maybe by next season she could be fed up with men (let's face it, among vampires Spike has been her best option so far). The little ditz might decide Willow has the right idea--not only about girls but in terms of one girl in particular! You can't tell me that wouldn't make a wonderfully wacky/scary episode!

tvsurfer, you are so funny. Yes there are more than posterior people here. I am an all around person myself. I love that picture. It looks like tara has a taste for the finer things in life.

GOOD EYE TARA!!

Speaking of good eye, my gf noticed Willow's hair had magically curled by the time she was with Buffy. I didn't notice It looked nice though. I really don't mind her curly hair. Speaking of clothes, what was that shirt Tara was wearing in her second scene?

Tvsurfer hehehe, that's funny.

And no Xita, I will *not* do big red fonts here, I have hurt enough innocent kittens as it is, but you are tempting me I tell ya.

You really should pay more attention though. You missed the shrimp thing, and now Willowhair? Tssk... I *never* miss a thing!

I certainly did *not* fail to notice the instant chemistry between Willow and Tara in Hush, nooooooo, not me....

I believe that would be a rooster, or cock (pic here). I noticed that the second time I watched the episode, immediately reminding me of the Tara pants/Willow dress comment in this thread.

Well, it kinda looks like a rooster but upon third review I'm not so sure. Had me going, tho.

i'm so glad i wasn't the only one to notice the atrocity that was that pinkish purple shirt! i saw it and exclaimed "dear god, what is tara *wearing*?! it's so...purple and....leopard printed and...hideous!"

but you know what? tara looks adorable in it anyway! she's so cute in that scene... sigh...

as far as i can see, it looks like a fantastic animal, those you find in medieval books, like bestiarys. in portuguese this animal is called "quimera", half hawk, half lion. i think in english it is named a gryphon (it can be spelled as griffon or griffin, i think), but i am not sure.
tvsurfer posted 02-15-2001 14:05 EST (US)
griffon's have a lions body and the head and wings of an eagle. the beast on tara's shirt doesn't quite have an eagleish looking head, I think it looks more like a winged dragon

ROTFLMAO - ok ok I corrected the spelling and wiccie - you are wicked
but you have to admit if your attention is drawn to that shirt its hard not to notice more than the dragon

I don't care what the design is - I'll look at Amber/Tara's chest even if there was nothing on it!

Who's with me?

I'm sorry I missed this question when it was first posted because:

I worked for the Philadelphia Museum of Art for about 3 1/2 years. The museum's symbol, which adorns the exterior of the building, as well as all of our signage and stationery and such, which we had tons of supplementary information on to give to folks, is the Gryphon. (Griffin, Griffon).

Additionally:

One of my local Buffy buddies that I watch the show with every week is a heraldic scholar, who handles much of the registration of heraldry for the SCA around here.

I can say with a great deal of certainty that the thing on Tara's shirt (which I actually liked, go figure) is a Gryphon.

Len, I liked the Gryphon. What I didn't like were the colors and the way it hung on her.
