Good episode. I was a little skeptical at how jumping back and forth from 'reality' to 'reality' was going to play out on screen but it worked quite nicely.

really touching sceen at the end between Buffy and Joyce. I miss Joyce.

ending in the institution threw me at first. I was thinking ME was trying to imply something but now I'm incline to think it was simply another flash since Buffy had still not received the antidote.

Lovely Willow and Tara goodness. And some arm touching after the tumble down the stair. What? I know it's not much but a girls gotta take what she can get.

just had to add my favorite line.

Willow practicing talking to Tara: '"Do you wanna go out some time, for coffee, food, kisses and gay love?"

Finally I've found a sig.

Interesting that they've implied that the "institution" is where Buffy spent her "summer". Not heaven excactly but a cross-section between realities. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but I have a weird logic to explore:

If Buffy wasn't fully ready to die at the end of season 5, could the "institution" be considered a limbo of sorts -- the place where you work out your issues until you can accept what has happened to you and move on to the next plane. Joyce being there, loving her daughter, helping her make the choice. But before she could accept it, she was yanked back into her body and a second chance at life. And in this episode, Joyce is there again, helping her daughter understand that she'll always have her love and support, but it's time to stop "going through the motions" and live fully.

Which she finally does.

Of course, that doesn't explain Hank's presence or the final shot (which, to paraphrase another show, had me silently screaming at the writer/director -- which is a good thing 'cause they got me, and that's hard to do). But, as other kittens have posted in other threads, this season has been about perception and how easy it is to distort it.

Now slightly OT, I wandered over to aint-it-cool-news to check Herc's review. 2 1/2 stars? Either that boy needs sleep or his love of Buffy's been dulled by his jonesing for Alias. He obviously loves female butt-kicking characters who take girl power to its utmost; maybe he has problem sharing the love.

Just saw the episode, very strange one, on to the W/T scenes…

At school, Willow is waiting in a hallway practicing some lines…”Hi, um, Tara, how are you? I was wondering, maybe, if you want to go out sometime, for coffee, food, kisses and gay love? sighs “Hi Tara, guess what? Magic free for insert number of days now”
She sees Tara coming out of class, so she starts walking towards her with a big smile but this other girl walks up to Tara and kisses her on the cheek (just a peck) but Willow is hurt by this and walks away, Tara notices her going and looks concerned.

When Buffy gets home, she sees Willow online, they start to talk…

B- I thought you were gonna go see Tara.
W- Saw her, saw her completely.
B- Ouch, just got a scratch from all that brittle.
W- It’s when I was seeing her, she was seeing someone else…a girl.
B- You mean.
W- I mean, not “seeing” seeing, well maybe, I don’t know, it was inconclusive and I didn’t stick around to find out, might have magicked my fist through a wall or something.
B- Will I’m sorry.
W- (all depressed) And they’re probably just friends, I press my lips against my friends all the time.
B- I’m sure they’re just friends, once you fall for Willow, you stay fallen.
W- (smiling) Thanks Buffy.

Tara enters the house and calls out “Hello? Anybody home?”
She opens the basement door, starts going downstairs, she calls out Willow’s name, then she sees what’s going on and casts a spell which releases Willow and Dawn from their bonds, then casts another spell that sends a shelf full of cans and other stuff flying at the demon, she then starts to walk down the stairs and Buffy grabs her foot and sends her stumbling down the stairs, Willow yells out her name and runs to her. Buffy comes back to her senses and shows what slayer strength is all about, very easily kills the demon. Willow and Tara are getting up, and Tara has her hand on Willow’s back as they’re getting up then they just all stand near Buffy.

Yup, Willow is very cute in this episode tommo.

And Xita, as for jealous Willow, I can't really remember. I was extremely distracted by some rather nice, form-fitting pants Tara was wearing in that scene. Yes, I was distracted by the pants.

I saw no hints at her having been in the institution during her summer of death, I saw hints of 2 things, 1) the institution was a figment of deamonpoison induced imagination. and 2) The institution was real, in LA or thereabout, and she'd been there since she saw her very first halucination of a vampire. Joyce never died, her parents never got divorced, there are no such ppl as willow tara xander anya and dawn etc. I liked how they ended it though, in the institution and not in the basement of the summers house, I like that sort of endings

Epicurus, it airs at 7 est.

Also wanted to add that when Willow sees Tara and then talks to Buffy, she's got straight hair, but after that, she's got a ponytail, which reminded me a lot of a certain very sexy band geek

working off the wildfeed, I have noticed that on other boards there is speculation re the whole season being a dream (or even the last 2). But surely this is too complicated (and a bit silly).

my take is that the 'alternative buffy' (the mental institution one) is what the real buffy, deep inside, wants to be the case. That she hasn't suffered through years of fighting and pain and death. That it has actually always been a dream and that there is some way out of being the slayer and what it holds for her future. The absence of Dawn - the person she doesn't know how to cope with. Her loving parents.

However, at the end she realises she is the slayer, it is her real life. the last scene is the 'death' of her alternate reality, the acceptance of what is real and what she is.

this, it seems to me, fits into the whole season and buffy's problems/not very well hidden belief that she may have been better off dead. She now, hopefully, realises she is really needed. She has to accept responsibility.

Understand your point but the doctor makes a pointed reference about Buffy becoming lucid for "several months last summer" before "her friends pulled her back" into her supposed fantasy world.
This is, I think many will agree, a direct reference to the timeframe that Buffy 'died'.
I am taping the episode tomorrow night, and will rewatch to make sure I didn't mishear the statement but I'm pretty sure I got it right.
Did any other kittens catch this moment or am I sniffing glue?

working off the wildfeed, I have noticed that on other boards there is speculation re the whole season being a dream (or even the last 2).

Yes the few, the proud - those who have seen the Embarassing Pictures(tm).

I don't have time to crank out fanfic these days, but I *am* working on a skit this week about spoilers leaking onto the internet, and the consequences thereof.

And not to completely derail the thread -

What? Oh, sorry garfield. The nice men in white uniforms are here, telling me it's time for bed. Goodnight.

Yup, Willow is very cute in this episode tommo.

And Xita, as for jealous Willow, I can't really remember. I was extremely distracted by some rather nice, form-fitting pants Tara was wearing in that scene. Yes, I was distracted by the pants.

Corinthian: I'd have to say a general "no" to your whole post. I liked how they ended it though, in the institution and not in the basement of the summers house, I like that sort of endings

my take is that the 'alternative buffy' (the mental institution one) is what the real buffy, deep inside, wants to be the case.

Lips; "mouth-" or "Nether-" ?

I'd happily place either set of lips on either Willow or Tara, or even both at the same time...Oh, yeah - I'm bad.

Well, now I know I've gone blinvisible like poor ole Marcie Ross - even Dr.G ignores my posts and attempts at smutty witticism. What have I come to? *melodramatic sob*

Yea, have we not in our bothness traversed these very threads many such seasons passed, revelling in mutual amusement? Yea verily, sir, art thou now friend or indifferent stranger?

Ha hum Wiccie dear, you will *never* be invisible, but my love for W/T can blind me to other posts at times. Having said that, though I did not mind seeing another girl place a peck on Tara's cheek, that is about as far as I want it to go, any other gay loving is for Willow only. If you will write some smutty or not so smutty W/T stuff, I will be shamelessly sucking up to you.

And call me Garfield, I have seen you in your Xena outfit, I think it's time we drop the formality.

Alright...Garfield. *girlish giggles*

Yes the few, the proud - those who have seen the Embarassing Pictures(tm).

I don't have time to crank out fanfic these days, but I *am* working on a skit this week about spoilers leaking onto the internet, and the consequences thereof.

*sigh* I know, I know...No smut, no love. *pouty face*

And not to completely derail the thread -

Hey! What was Diego smokin' when he penned this one? Whoo-ey, I may need a Special Dr.G Recipe Dutch Brownie to understand it...

What? Oh, sorry garfield. The nice men in white uniforms are here, telling me it's time for bed. Goodnight.

Mmmm....Netherlips...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Part of me REALLY wants alterna-Buffy to be real, or at least explored over the next few eps. When does S6 conclude? When, more to the point, will it be shown on UK terrestrial? Ah, so many questions, so little time before my EXAM this afternoon...I miss Joyce And who can blame anyone for kissing Tara - I mean, really...

B- I’m sure they’re just friends, once you fall for Willow, you stay fallen.
W- (smiling) Thanks Buffy.

I love this bit.

and...

" Do you wanna go out some time, for coffee, food, kisses and gay love?"

Do you think we could use that to pick-up line?

So,they are really having Tara doing the spells part now.I think that's pretty cool.Or was there something I missing or got it wrong?

Anyway...,Willow's cute little line + Tara's kick ass stuff...

Can't wait to see whole ep.

Ange, thank you! I love it.
I love this one of Willow stealthily approaching.

Ah poor Willow, first so happy to see Tara, then so hurt. And I love the look of concern on Tara's face, no intention whatsoever to hurt Willow, to make her jealous, 'just' love and concern.

Oh and those pants, oh yeah...
