Alas, we all have to go through all sorts of terrible mistakes. Now here's one for Xander--believing a light show (hasn't he seen the holodecks on Star Trek?) (which did, however, prey on every single insecurity the poor guy has--ick and double ick). Believe me, lucky beyond words is he (or she) who doesn't look back on some choice they made and cringe...
Ask Willow. Or Tara.
But I believe Xander and Anya will find each other again. I believe.
Just as I believe Spike and Buffy will find whatever-they're-gonna-be-to-each-other (my guess? Comrades)
And I really want Dawn to start dating the demon teenager. But maybe that's just me.

In any case, I was correct with my theory: The Harris clan was far my heinous than the Demons in attendance. Nice touch.
Now I have to go be weepy because that was an incredibly sad, but well written episode. Crying now!

Anya's final look sent chills down my spine. I could be reading it wrong, but when D'Hoffryn offered her the job back, it was almost like the spark came back, like she was ready to jump at the possibility. And I'm worried she will go back to the vengeance gig, at least temporarilly. I dunno, I kind of expected to see her confused or conflicted. That wasn't how it read though.

But you know, I don't think she would actually be able to do it anymore. There are two reasons and both were brought out in the open in HB. The first is for the first time she gets love. And the second is that she actually, and other than Xander I believe this is also a first, has a bit of compassion and regret about someone who had been her victim in the past.
Part of the demon gig is being so narrow minded that you grant the wish of a person who has been wronged with no thought to the victims of the wish or other sides to the situation. I actually don't think Anya is capable of that kind of tunnel vision anymore. She might try to do it, but I just don't think she has the heart for it anymore. No matter how much she might be hurting.
Oh, and did anyone else get a strange thrill out of hearing Tara say the words "sex poodle"?

i somehow didn't notice that pivotal moment in my original viewing of the ep. many thanks to you for pointing it out, so that i could rewind and watch it over and over and over...
i was so sad for anya (and xander), but i feel much better now. the adoring smiles, the glances full of love, the hair brushing and hand holding and boob touching... yes folks, w/t are on their way back!
my only complaint is that the w/t scenes were so SHORT! we'd better get some serious w/t screentime soon - we've been waiting for it for months!
there were tons of other things i liked about this ep, but i'm brain dead right now, so i'll have to post them in the morning. night everyone!
Back to the boobage.
Edited to add - I'm having a hard time getting my VCR to pause at the exact *ahem* moment. Screencaps, anyone?

No metaphors...just fucking.
Tara and Willow...that WAS the first touch since Tabula Rasa, and wow! I was watching their hands the whole time, and it almost reminded me of Hush, how neither of them seemed to want to let go, so they kept holding hands, and kept holding hands. *yay*
I also LOVED how, especially in the beginning and in the end, we saw the gang hanging out like they used to. Lots of good B/W, B/X, and X/W interactions. I missed their warm fuzzies. I was also pleased to see Buffy, Willow and Dawn wanting to offer comfort to Anya after the jilting. I'm glad the writers seem to be telling us that even if Anya is no longer a scooby girlfriend, she had the love and support of the gang. (and for the record, IMO even if Anya tries to be a vengeance demon again, I think she will find her heart just isn't in it, and find her way back to being human and back to Xander). (And don't tell me if I'm right or not, please...as of last week I have decided to go spoiler free for the rest of the season!)Going along with my Anya thoughts, kudus to Emma and her acting tonight! She was MAAHHHVELOUS, going through such a wide range of human emotion so believably. She plays Anya with such an innocence...I am enamored with her!
Buffy and Spike. *Sigh* I hope they can remain the kind of friends they were to each other tonight. CLEARLY they both have genuine care for the other, despite whatever feelings of jealousy and hurt they may be harboring right now. Spike reminded me of himself in season 5, and I missed that.
Finally, am I just an annoying bigot or is anyone else raising a wary eyebrow at all of the warm and fuzzy demons that just happen to be cropping up everywhere? I mean, hello, DEMON???? That title used to *mean something*, geez! Yes, yes, I know that in Buffyverse there is never black and white, it is all gray...I am not in the Riley camp of NMR. It is just that lately these demons seem so nice, and friendly, and harmless. I know they provide a dramatic foil for Xander's bastard family members, but I'm finding it hard to believe that Sunnydale is suddenly overflowing with snuggly-bunny demons. Have they been there all along and we just didn't know? Hmmmmm.
Just some surface thoughts. More to come. Also, am I the only one that got a little shiver when Willow told Xander it was a good thing she figured out that she was gay?!?!!

During the cute scene where they were dressing Anya, the look on Tara's face when she was talking about being able to trust him with her heart just about broke my heart, though. There was still a lot of hurt and uncertainty in that look. Amber can cram a lot of emotions in a look, that's for sure. And Willow was so cute and hopeful.Ari
Nail on the head at why I think Amber Benson is one hell of an actress! Seeing friends get married can make one mistful, especially if conflicted. That small moment spoke volumes to me about how much Tara loves Willow, and how hard this whole process has been for the character.
What I also loved was how she pulled herself out of that dark moment, and started to play with Willow again as they continued with the dress. Also very real and true to life.

I have a question did the episode ever point out who was Anya's Maid of Honor. Because to me it seemed like it was Tara. She was the one helping her with her vows staying with her in the bridal room. I thought maybe Halfrek was the Maid of Honor, but she wasn't really doing much and was sitting with the guests waiting for the wedding. This is something that just seems to bug me about the episode.
I don't think they ever said for sure, but it sure seemed like it was Tara. She was wearing a dress that matched The Best Man's (Willow's) She was helping Anya get dressed and practice her vows. I'd be willing to bet she was the MOH. I wonder if the shooting script will clarify this. I also am dying to see the descriptions of the W/T scenes. Should be fun.
