Anyone out there know if she will be doing any signings anywhere in the city.
We are going to try and get on the show again this year.. we were lucky and drew #1 on the standby lottery last year on my gf birthday... we both have her koosh balls hanging from our desk lamps in our study (doesn't that sound painful!)
It would be good to see her again before she hangs up her chat hat, and wayyy kewl to see her if in fact she does finally come out !
Heres hoping a few others will decide to follow her outta the closet !
YAY FOR ROSIE!

Well, the old gaydar has been wrong before but since the first moment I saw Rosie many years ago I've always thought she could be a 'sista' LOL plus I do know folks who know folks who know... Isn't that how the 'Enquirer' puts it LOL
As you say, it doesn't bother me one way or the other either. She is a great person who does a lot of good for others.

the 'unreliable source'.
It seems now that she's getting out of the talk show business, she's ready to move on and make it fully public.
The interesting thing here, is how much of a non-issue this is - the public reaction comes down to, "hey, she's gay, good for her." Which really is how it should be.
I mean, if Jodie Foster came out tomorrow, who exactly would be up in arms, aside from a few folks in caves who'd be up in arms anyway?

IMHO, I just can't wait for the time when people are treated like W/T on the show: not much of a second glance at them from their friends/loved ones, nor from the public at large, just blind acceptance on the spot.
Sort Of Like:
"Oh, you're gay now...cool. Anyway, do still want to go to that party on Tuesday?"
I can dream, right?
love,
e.
I am not a huge Rosie fan but it's well-known she's a big old dyke. She thanked her partner, Kelli, at the Emmy's last year (or some other awards show -- I can't remember now) and told her she loved her. Of course she didn't explain WHO Kelli was but a lot of people knew. As Kalita noted, it's more of a technical secret than a real, honest to goodness never suspected never saw a trail of evidence longer than the Nile River kinda secret.

No, how it really should be is:
"Oh. So what?" After all sexuality makes no diffrence just like gender doesn't. I wonder if the human race can ever truly be excepting of others...

I think it's good that she's coming out herself, as I don't like it when people are "outed" against their will.

Just watched Will & Grace and this was the episode with Rosie playing the mother of Jack's son, and to my complete surprise, her character was a lesbian, can you believe that, do you think this is some kind of foreshadowing of some sort
yep, i just watched that. i thought it was a coincidence since i had just read on this thread that she was going to be coming out. and i do think this is foreshadowing, or maybe a way to come out without really doing it?

There are other possibilities but that's what I came up with off the top of my head.
I think the bottom line is that just because someone is married or has public lovers of the opposite sex or takes out a full page ad in the paper declaring their heterosexuality or crushes out on someone of the opposite sex in a big public way doesn't necessarily mean squat. I'm NOT saying we should start queering every single celeb, but the truth is that no matter how much progress has been made in regards to lesbian/gay/bi visibility and acceptance, the norm is still straight and many famous people fear (whether it's legitimate or not) that they will be punished if their sexual orientation is revealed. I mean, even for people who are NOT famous the closet exists; people get married for the wrong and unhappy reasons; and fronts are maintained at great personal cost. I know people in my own life who are not on TV shows or movies who are closeted. I imagine the struggles would be magnified if you're in the public domain.
Ah and Judy, you have such a wonderful way with words, I wish you would post more.
Editing to add: well now Judy, my comment was referring to your first post in this thread, how psychic of you to honor my request at the very same time I made this post.

I love the movie you are talking about and I have it on video. I'm going to have to pull the video out and watch it again. I don't remember thinking that Rosie's character was gay, but it probably didn't matter to me when I was watching it, because I just love mysteries and coming-of-age type stories. Anyway, I remember they had the boy that tormented her kiss her (as Christina Ricci playing her as an young woman) and I remember the line about living in sin, but at the time I thought they were emphasizing the character's unwillingness to commit to marriage. Thanks for bringing it up--I'm gonna enjoy watching it again. Sometimes I forget I have videos since I got the DVD player!

Hey Pixie Muso, I think those quotes were separate. THat is, people were first saying Ohhhh, you'll all be surprised by the revelations in Rosie's book! And THEN it was leaked that Rosie comes out in the book. At least, that's how I interpreted it.
Righteo Judy, thanks for your imput. I haven't really been following up any of this stuff with Rosie's book or her talk show (we don't get it in Australia). So, I guess I've never been part of the crowd that suspected about her apparent homosexuality. That article just seemed a bit confusing to me - either that or I was just bloody tired when I read it. lol
Thanks again.

My gf has a crush on Moulin Rouge's Ewan Mcgregor(hope I spelt that right).
I though don't share well with others so there are no free passes after the wedding.
On a weird note my gf has always wanted to take over for Rosie. Singing and dancing, making fun of the NRA. Sorry this is so random.

Watching Will & Grace last night I just felt like it was Rosie saying those words. I heard in the news that she does talk about dating women in her book. So, yeah, I think she'll come out in her book.
