Thought I'd post this here for any interested British kitties. Channel 4 will be showing 'High Art' on Wednesday morning at 2:30am. That's in about 4 and half hours. A bit short notice but I only just noticed myself. Anyway, I thought I'd mention it since this has become a sort of all-purpose queer films thread Btw, movies I reccommend are 'When Night is Falling', 'Wild Side' (if you can get over the first twenty minutes or so) and 'Show me Love.' I'm off to hunt for a video tape...

BTW- just brought the Matrix on DVD today! (you're a Matrix fan, right?) It rocks!

How'd you know? Actually that's not where I got the name, as he spelled it with a 'y' and wasn't a nice guy. You might have also seen me mention it on another thread....

I don't have DVD, but I have the tape with a lengthy making-of at the end. I think I've heard the DVD for The Matrix has quite a lot of additional extras (stuff you could only do on a DVD).quote:quote:

I've only caught parts of it (on HBO), and I've been afraid to seek out and sit through all of it. Sometime I'll have to, though, because it looks interesting, especially the couple that gets kicked out of the coffee shop (near the beginning?).

I finally caught (almost) the whole movie last night. I missed a few minutes here and there (I wish I'd gone ahead and taped it) but saw the vast majority of it, finally. I'd been reluctant because most of the parts I'd caught before were the unpleasant parts and I was afraid it would just make me too upset.

But the upsetting parts were fairly well-contained (and important) and the overall story was much more uplifting and beautiful. The characters are so interesting (though the mother is quite aggravating in the earlier parts!) as they struggle with issues of their own feelings and with the feelings of others. It raises many issues regarding tolerance and understanding (and the occasional lack thereof). I just wish they'd resolved the "Customs" issues, but it leaves you hopeful that they will ultimately prevail.

Now I'll have to find it on cable again and catch the few parts I missed, like the opening dance number.

I finally saw it a couple of days ago. Needed something to take my mind off world events for 90 minutes. Great little film though, quite touching in places.

Wow, so many in the "Clea is a hottie" Club. Well, this is completely off topic, but since the roar of the club members are so deafening, I thought I'd let you guys know I just found out there is a feature on Clea in the new issue of "Flaunt" Magazine. I've never even heard of the magazine which also means it's not available around here, but it's supposed to be a large article with several new pictures so I thought I'd give the heads up to more fortunate Kittens with magazine racks better stocked.

From what I understand after doing a search on the web. Flaunt Magazine is an LA based magazine.

Bumping this thread to say that Lost and Delirious just came out on video (in my remote and culturally deprived area).

This is an amazing movie and totally worth seeing IMHO- i wish it had played in the theatres around here, but no such luck. The acting was excellent, especially Piper Perabo as Paulie who was just breathtaking.

I find myself wondering why i've never heard of novelist Susan Swan before. She's apparently quite famous in Canada. I could go on a rant about "typical american cultural chauvinism" but i'm sure i'd be preaching to the choir. Instead, let me just express my total dismay at the fact that this movie was rated "R" for absolutely no logical reason beyond homophobia.

This isn't a movie about sex, it isn't even about lesbianism, really. It's a movie about love.

Thanks for the reminder. You can apparently order the DVD from the Lost and Delirious profile (or if that link doesn't work go to Lions Gate Films and look for the link to it).

Unfortunately they don't have it available in VHS yet, at least through the web site, so I'll have to wait a bit longer.

Oh, and since this thread popped up again with on-topic movie recomendations, let's make sure Mulholland Dr. gets mentioned here (I finally got to see it recently).

Edited to fix the formatting quirk that breaks nested bold tags, then again to fix my own stupid formatting typo.

I already have it (got the video used) but I LOVE that movie. It's one of my very favorites. Highly recommended. Isn't Clea DuVall beautiful? She's my number one crush, followed closely by Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson of course

Uhh you said Clea was selling t-shirts of her "GIRLFRIENDS" band?? Just wondering did you mean her friend or would Clea be - lol, even after reading the thread about which terminology to use when refering to people who are uh 'gay' I still have no idea which term to use so I'll use a Buffy line instead - 'living the wiccan lifestyle'??If so I had no idea, wow.
Also if there is anyone out there who knows whether 'But I'm a Cheerleader' will be coming out on DVD to Australia??

~KISMIC~, I checked around and it does indeed look like Clea is "living the wiccan lifestyle" with a member of the band, her name is Radio Sloan.

Michele…rofl

I checked out different message boards and they were talking about Clea and Radio, some people had seen them together and it seems they weren’t trying to hide anything, but of course that’s not definite proof but I will use my secret Canadian p.i. skills to find out

More "6 degrees of BTVS"

Another connection in this movie (I didn't think i saw this posted anywhere in this thread before) is that the girl who played "Sinead" played "Sunday" in 'The Freshmen' or so IMDB.com tells me anyway.

p.s sorry if I'm stating something thats already been discussed, I have a bad habit of doing that.
