YAY 4 the MUSIC! I can't wait to hear everyone sing.

Okay, so who did really sing in the Xena musical ep then? And who would really sing in the Buffy one? I mean, not everyone's gifted with singing talent (as anyone who's been to chat will know).

Ok...who really sang: Xena, Ares, Joxer.

Re: "The Exposition Song" from "Restless." Joss wrote the lyrics, and if I'm not mistaken the music was by Christophe Beck, who scored the show until this year. And I believe that's him at the piano in that scene as well.

Re: Buffy the Musical. I'm thinking it's gotta be cool or Joss wouldn't do it. I loved the bit in "Restless" and wanted more...now it seems like we might get it. Personally, I'm stoked.

Me too. For one thing, while Joss might do something a litle cheezy sometimes (i think it's his kinda goofy sense of humor) he would never produce an episode that wasn't way cool.

For another, i agree with Willow and Tara- Giles' singing is kinda sexy. ASH is super talented and Amber is amazing on stage- awesome voice. Anyone who hasn't heard/seen her performance in the 'Rocky' video should check it out. Little Willow has audio and video files available. (Maybe someone could post a link for newcomers? I lost all my links when i changed isp's.)

Also, JM is a singer, and don't forget the actor who plays Jonathan- another great voice.

It wouldn't surprise me if Alyson actually has a very nice soprano. Maybe even Sarah- assuming her tone-deaf rendition of "Macho Man" was just great acting. (Something tells me she'd be a good candidate for dubbing, though.

Hmmm. You know, for some odd reason, some people just *look* like they're good singers. And often you can tell the quality of a singer from their speaking voice. Now I love SMG as an actress, but she does have an annoying kind of nasal voice. That's why I'm not sure whether she would have a good singing voice.

Aly, I'm not sure about her voice either. Perhaps though, you know, she would do soprano.

Amber's voice is quite deep and melodious; I'm sure she'd just add to her credible performance in Rocky Horror.

Nick Brendon, he'd probably do rap quite well. Not too sure about singing though.

Emma I reckon could hold a tune.

Pity though, as I think Kristine (Joyce) probably has a lovely voice.

Yeah he did. He wrote it espesially for ASH and that ep. Cool huh. And i know what you mean about not being able to get it out of your head...i'm finding myself needing to watch it now.

That actually wasn't Danny Strong singing. He was dubbed very well, though. Can't think of the guy's name, but he did the singing voice for Aladdin in the Aladdin Disney movie.

Brad Kane was the singing voice of Aladdin. I didn't know he did Jonathan's singing voice. That's funny. I believe he was also in the episode "The Prom" as the guy with the demon dog things.

Joss could probably bring Christian Kane and Andy Hallett over from Angel to do a Buffy musical. Even if the shows are on two different networks, simply disguise Christian as a monster and Andy as a human and no one will know it's them.

"I have no plans to send Tara anywhere. Amber and Alyson have such great chemistry; they're so great together, and they're very romantic together. We have terrible, terrible things to do to them because they're on my show, so needless to say, horrible things will happen--but as a couple, I think they work really well." - Joss Whedon

I was really impressed by Christian Kane singing last night on Angel. I think it would great if Joss brought Christian and Andy Hallett over for at least one number.

I'm very excited about a musical buffy...just because I'm a big band dork and love everything musical. I just hope that whoever writes the music takes into consideration the different voice parts of each character. Amber did a great job at RHP anniversary special...but the song was just a little bit too high for her. She sounds like she's straining in a few places.

Roxton, you're Strong Like An Amazon now! Woo-hoo! Congratulations!

Now I have something to aspire to for my future... maybe when I'm no longer Gay Now! I'll stop having all these disturbing thoughts about Riley...

I really loved the "Ally McBeal" muscial. That was absolutely fantastic, I hope Buffy can produce a really good musical.

ASH can sing really well. I haven't heard Aly or Amber, but I'm sure they're really good.

I've only ever heard Amber and Tony sing. And if they are going to be in the musical eop i think it's gonna be worth watching. I'd really like to hear Aly and James sing as well though. I bet this ep is gonna be great!!

The only Xena musical ep I saw was "Bitter Suite", which I did enjoy. I look forward to a Buffy musical, certainly; I'd also like to see Christian Kane and Andy Hallet if at all possible! If they wanna use a dubbed singer for Aly or anyone else, I won't object to that either, so long as they sound reasonably alike.

A Buffy musical, this sounds great. I have heard ASH sing and Amber, both of them have great voices.

I hear James is a great singer as well, but I don't know about the rest of the cast.

Anyone care to guess to what it might be about.

heh, before I deleted my post thinking I edited it, I was going to say that the Xena ep I saw was Bitter Suite. And yes, I thought it was funny. didn't really think much of the show *ducking from projectiles flying my way* so that was certainly something different for me.

but still, looking fwd to a buffy musical...preferably with a scantily clad cast so that everyone gets to drool over their fave's talent. ahem.

yupyup...see, that way everyone gets something out of it :

  • we get to see lotsa W/T cuteness.
  • those not interested get to see various gorgeous bods on display .
  • and all others can either be

    1. admiring the talents of the amazing cast or
    2. cursing the day that Joss came up with the idea while stuffing their earplugs in.

Well, I for one Loved Xena WP's "Bitter Suite". And If Joss's musical is anything like Rob's I sooooo will love it. When I went to watch Rocky 25th special I didn't even know about Amber or ASH. I was sitting in front of my tv with my mouth hanging open when I saw they were going to be on it. I've been a big fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show for a llloooonnnngggg time. Amber and Ash sing so well. I am also so happy to know that Aly sings too. I can't wait to hear them all.

For some strange reason, I cannot get that song out of mind: "This boy, he got the blues, you can hear it...". Judging by that episode, the most important thing isn't the actor's voice, but the playful experience.
I liked Chicago Hope's musical best. I think it was more inventive than Ally's and that's what counts. I'm sure JW possesses an unlimited source of creativity inside his head and is capable of writing a very funny horror-musical. I wasn't a big fan of BtVS, but since I started watching the show more regularly I learned to trust the quality of each future episode. I haven't been disappointed yet.

What impresses me the most here is that Joss is writing both script AND score, as well as directing. I always like getting the passionate vision of a single creator - that's one of the things I loved about Babylon 5 - and Joss has been very direct in this, from what I saw In "The Body" and "Family" and what I've heard about "Hush" and "Restless" (sill gotta see those!).

In short, I'm primed and ready. Bring it on, Joss, m'man!
