I feel better about the crow thing being in the astral plane. Interesting to think how they would have done that scene in the show.

Come on, Amazon!

Just asking, but has anyone in the UK who pre-ordered the book actually had an E-mail from Amazon saying it's been shipped yet, I've just checked again, and they still haven't sent mine and I'm feeling all left out of the loopy!

I got my book yesterday and I finished it in about two hours. The only thing that impressed me was the wonderful W/T interplay between them. Otherwise, I didn't think the book was very good. *shrug* Maybe I'm just wierd about books about TV shows. I didn't get worked up about the Xena books either really.

Minion, I feel your pain. Really I do. I mean, it's now a week past the publishing date and I could have just gone to a bookshop.

Kieli, I hear what you say about the book. However, I would suggest that this series is actually better written than some of the other Buffy books. Besides, it's not like we're expecting Chaucer is it? The style may be a little forced at times, but overall it's not a bad read.

*smirks with a book in hand*

Cancelled the order with Amazon and hopped over to FP today. These books sell fast...how strange.

Tv/Movie tie-ins are not my usual readings but I really do like the W/T bits, esp since there seem to be a drought of fic out there right now.

Teri, you want to get yourself over to the Pens board, there's stacks of new fic there.

*nods her head* I guess you're right, Ruth. I have no idea what I was expecting really.....maybe that's why I was disappointed. There are days that I wish I could make up my own mind. thinks she might re-read it again

[edited to add: NOW I know what I was expecting! I was expecting it to be as enjoyable a read as any of the great fan fiction I've seen as of late. Engaging, loving, has a plot or two that makes sense instead of splitting up into three or four subplots....that kind of thing. Makes me a hard sell, I guess.]

I met Nancy Holder at a con several years ago, and I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying, "Hi, I can write [i:8e5e498b99]Buffy[/i:8e5e498b99] better than you."

Nowadays I think I'd say, "Hi, I know several people who can write [i:8e5e498b99]Buffy[/i:8e5e498b99] better than you."

Nancy [i:8e5e498b99]has[/i:8e5e498b99] improved, but her style still drifts into the too-cutsey and too-flowery at times. It mushes along instead of snapping along like a TV episode does. Meanwhile, the quality of the fanfic seems to have improved tremendously. Either that or I'm simply hanging out with better writers than I did before.

Being a student sux! Doesn't the government know that i *need* a grant to buy all the W/T and Buffy stuff out there in order to make me happy thus ensuring i get a better final mark? Humph... thanks for all the extracts peeps, tho i've been forcing myself not to read them in anticipation of getting my own copy... I liked the 1st book, esp the Cordelia bit with the runaways, but i really thought there needed to be more W/T moments. I mean, what was Nancy Holder thinking to have them separate? Doesn't she see the cuteness? I'm thinking a book devoted entirely to these 2 is in oder... they're doing it for Oz, so it's do-able!

Amazon finally delivered today. I could have bought the book and read it 50 times by now. Won't do that again.

I kinda cheated - scanned thru it looking for the words "Willow" and "Tara" so I don't have an opinion yet.

But I do agree about the fanfic. I've been reading some amazing stuff on the other board. There are a lot of talented kitties out there!

Heh, my problem is that I read fast. Too fast, especially when its W/T fic. I have been to the Pens board and finished all the fic and can't wait for continuations!

I must say that I prefer alot of those fics out there to the buffy books, some of them are too flippant for my liking, minimal characterization and paper thin plots...yucko..

the difference, i think, between the books and the fics are the target audience. aren't these books written for teens? that's what they felt like to me, but i've only read unseen 1 & 2 so far. will read #3 but then i'll stick to fic.

Bob, I love Nancy Holder. I thought Immortal was excellent, as was The Book of Fours. She's far superior to some of the other writers; the Faith Trials were just really badly written. I teach kids who could do a better job...

Yeah, I hear you, minion . . .

I've got two copies now. *sigh* The pristine condition of the one that arrived three or four days ago from Amazon only serves to punctuate the creases in the spine of the copy I quested madly to obtain with scant hours left in the day before actual on-sale date.

Damn times like these I hate living in Newfoundland. Last year I always got the new Buffy on Monday so I could tease my friends I got to see it first but sadly we don't get books as fast. I live in a small town so I can't get the newest Buffy book until the next time I'm in St. John's which is three hours away.

Maybe I get someone to pick it up for me in St. John's and bring it out.

Hopefully they do a W/T novel someday.
