This is a sequel to Shinjitsu Wo Tsukamitore

Well, here's my follow up to Shinjitsu Wo Tsukamitore. Hope you enjoy it. :) It's quite a short first part but it was just to get me into writing it. Took all day yesterday dreaming the plot up just for you guys. :D Hopefully, I'll be updating sometime later on today.

Here's my website with my other fanfictions.

Happy reading.

Disclaimer: I do not own any characters, locations, or references to the universe of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They belong to Joss Whedon.

Rating: We’ll make it PG-13 for now.

Feedback: It would be very much appreciated. In fact, it would make me do a little happy dance. J

Distribution: Sure, if you want it. Just let me know first.

Dedication: To Willow and Tara, the most beautiful couple to grace our television screens and to all the kittens who inspired me to write this.

Timeline: Around Season 6. Willow didn’t meet Tara in Hush in Season 4. They have met only recently. This is a sequel to Shinjitsu Wo Tsukamitore. It isn’t necessary to have read it to understand this story but it is advisable.

Summary: Tara is settling into her new life in Sunnydale whilst Willow handles her newfound love.

Part 1

Change. It was the most fearful thing of all. It was strange how one thing could go from being so bad to absolutely wonderful in such a short while and it worked both ways. Even the small insignificant things a person can do or say can change their life forever. Tara had always feared change. When her mother had died, everything changed. Life went from being bearable to tormenting within seconds. All her dreams had been shattered and she had felt like her own life faded with her mother’s. Now, however, she embraced change with her arms spread wide in total acceptance. She had taken the step two weeks ago to move on from the shy bumbling recluse she was and find a new path in life, one her mother would be proud of, but above all, one she would be proud of. She had but one woman to thank for all of it. Willow.

Change had come in the form of the room she resided in now, a cosy little dorm room she had managed to acquire with Willow’s help. It was quite Spartan at the moment as she didn’t have many belongings but she hoped to amend that in the near future. The second thing she had done after deciding to stay in Sunnydale was find a job, the first being to obtain a place at the university. She had been accepted as an assistant in a small flower shop in town as she had demonstrated an extensive knowledge in plants. She remembered the redhead’s reaction to her acceptance with a fond smile. Willow had leapt into her arms and kissed her on the cheek, walking around for the rest of the day with the goofiest grin she had ever seen. Tara wondered how the hacker would have reacted if she had been the one to get the job. Now, the blonde witch was nicely settled in her room and was slowly getting used to college life. The pile of coursework she had to catch up on was extremely difficult to get through but that was a small price to pay for her freedom.

Tara thumbed through one of her social studies books, looking over the chapters her group were due to do in the coming weeks. The topics looked hard but the subject matter was extremely interesting and she enjoyed it. She was sure, if ever the need arose, that she could write a very long and involved paper on the effects of negative stimulus on individuals and their resulting interaction with society. Then again, if she were to be studied herself, what would the experts make of her having made a complete turn around. She glanced at her bedside clock and saw it was past six o’clock in the evening. Knowing it would be dark soon, she wondered if Buffy would have much work to do tonight but suspected the usual vampires and demons would give her a run for her money. Willow might even help the Slayer as she was becoming quite used to channelling large amounts of magic now. Tara sighed. She hadn’t seen much of the redhead lately due to their busy schedules. If either of them wasn’t in class, the other one was or Willow was involved in some Scooby emergency. The few times they had gotten together over the past few weeks was to organise Tara’s living arrangements and courses. The last time the blonde witch had seen the hacker was a few days ago when she had gone over the basics of Wicca with Willow, testing her knowledge and being surprised at the mixed results. It was clear the redhead was using magic for its power and she wasn’t totally aware of the consequences or moral issues. It worried Tara but she trusted Willow to have self-control. She just wished it was something other than the black arts Willow had involved herself in, she didn’t want to see her tainted by the magic or go down the road so many witches and mages had before her. Tara shook the thoughts from her mind. Willow was stronger than that.

The blonde Wiccan rose from her bed, placing the now closed book on a table and moved to the window, peering out at the quickly darkening sky. Oranges, reds and pinks hued the horizon, painting a beautiful picture. It was ironic how the sky contrasted the chaos of the town below. Tara knew that at this moment, the evil that lurked under Sunnydale was mobilizing and ready to emerge into the streets, raining havoc on the poor inhabitants. Realising she was one of those poor inhabitants, Tara let out a short laugh. The proverbial frying pan and fire, she thought. Though, the prospect of the fire was slightly more inviting than the emotional torture she had gone through in the frying pan. The fading sunlight shone in through the blinds, throwing orange streaks over her blue top and black jeans. The retreating light filled her with warmth and for the first time in years, she didn’t see it as a representation of her hope. Her dreams no longer died with the passing days, they sprung to life, and blossomed like the beautiful white orchids in the shop she tended.

A soft tapping on her door interrupted her horizon gazing and she pulled the cord beside the window, causing the blinds to close, leaving the room bathed only in the light of a few candles. She walked quickly to the door and pulled it open, her face lighting up at the sight of the gorgeous redhead standing there.

“Hey.” Willow greeted brightly, stepping into the room as Tara moved aside. She turned to face the blonde once again as the door was closed behind them. “How’s my favourite blonde?”

Tara grinned, her blue eyes sparkling in the glow of the candlelight. “Just fine.”

“Aww, too bad. I was hoping that you might be in need of hug therapy. You see, I have this urge to wrap myself around a beautiful woman.” Willow’s green orbs glinted as she teased the shy Wiccan.

Tara giggled. “Now that you mention it, I am feeling kind of cold.” Willow moved to her instantly, folding her arms around the blonde’s waist and drawing her close.

“Better?” Willow enquired.

The blonde nodded. “I’m getting all warm and fuzzy inside.” She bent her head forward and kissed the redhead’s nose, glad to be in Willow’s company again. She felt as though it had been forever since they last saw one another. “Aren’t you going out on patrol tonight?”

Willow pouted at Tara’s question. “Don’t you want me here?”

Tara squeezed the redhead. “Of course I do.” Willow’s pout was replaced by a smile.

“I was supposed to be accompanying our fair Slayer but I had to come see my stunning princess. I missed you.” Willow went into dramatic mode.

Tara laughed softly. “So you’re aspiring to become a knight then. Looks like your drama classes are paying off.” She teased.

Willow backed away, her smile never fading. She held Tara’s hand as she sat down on the blonde’s bed, pulling her down beside her. Once Tara was settled, the redhead leaned in against her and rested her head against the blonde’s shoulder. With her free hand, Tara stroked the side of Willow’s head. The pair sat, enjoying each others company for a while, the silence comfortable for both of them.

Eventually, Willow broke the silence. “What are you thinking?” She murmured softly.

“Oh, just about you. Well, about us really.” She answered, distracted by her thoughts.

Willow lifted her head and looked at her companion. “What about us?”

Tara pulled herself from her thoughts and focused on the redhead beside her. She had been thinking about the past few weeks and how they’d grown closer. She wasn’t sure of what Willow thought about the two of them and they hadn’t exactly been labelled either. Were they girlfriends? That had never been discussed. They weren’t lovers yet as they hadn’t passed the kissing stage and they were certainly more than friends but Tara didn’t know exactly what. “That’s kinda what I was wondering.”

Willow tilted her head to the side, wondering exactly what Tara was thinking. “I, uh… what?”

“It’s just…” Tara sighed, resigning herself to what she was about to say. “I don’t know where I stand with you Willow.”

The redhead’s face turned from curious to bemused in a few short moments. Then realisation hit her, the blonde was talking about their relationship. She opened her mouth to speak but shut it quickly again, standing and pacing away from the bed. This was something that had been chipping away at her thoughts for a while now and she had shelved it so she didn’t have to face it. Now, it seemed, she had to confront it and do it quickly or else she might lose this special woman. “Tara, I…” She turned to face the blonde, confusion flooding her green eyes.

Tara stood and moved towards her, stopping before she could enclose the redhead’s body in her arms. “You’re scared?”

Willow nodded, folding her arms over her stomach. “It’s all so new to me and I… I don’t know what to do.” She knew she had very strong feelings for Tara, even stronger than she had had for Oz. It had overwhelmed her because it had happened in such a short space of time and all the emotions whirled around inside of her. She was scared of what her friends and family might think and doubted she could ever handle their rejection but she never wanted to lose Tara.

Tara lowered her head, her long blonde tresses falling forward and obscuring her beautiful features. “I’ll s-support you in whatever you d-decide.” She said quietly.

Willow noticed the blonde’s stuttering had returned but it was something she rarely did when the two were alone. The redhead stepped forward, pulling Tara into a tight embrace. “No Tara no. I didn’t mean… I didn’t mean that I didn’t want to be with you.” She pulled out of the hug and tilted the blonde’s head upwards so their eyes could meet. “I do, I very much want to be with you. I’m just trying to get a hold of the feelings and thoughts floating around in my head. I don’t want to lose you, not because of my silly insecurities.”

Tara smiled. “You could never lose me, I wouldn’t let you.”

Her words filled Willow with happiness and it pushed the doubts away, leaving the two of them alone with the adoration they felt for one another. “I need to say… Tara…” Willow found she couldn’t say what she wanted and stopped herself from forming any more incoherent half sentences. The blonde in her arms continued to look at her expectantly. “Tara, I love you.” She finally managed, a weight lifting from her as the words passed her lips.

Tara’s blue eyes sparkled and tears spilled down her cheeks. She had finally found something she had yearned for all her life. Unconditional love and acceptance. She didn’t speak, instead she pulled Willow as close to her as possible and captured the redhead’s lips in a searing kiss.

Sunnydale’s graveyard was as lively with activity as it usually was at night. The Slayer was perched on top of a gravestone, throwing her stake up in the air, watching it flip over and over several times, before catching it again. She had been sitting there for almost an hour and no new vampires had risen. It wouldn’t have been so tedious if her best friend had stuck to their plans and met her earlier that night but she hadn’t showed up where they had agreed on. Buffy had waited for ten minutes and, deciding the undead didn’t hang around, she went on patrol. Though the summer was just around the corner, a chill hung in the air, making the Slayer shiver. She looked up at the clear night sky, watching as several stars twinkled at her.

A quiet crunching of boots on grass alerted Buffy to the approach of a vampire. She jumped off the gravestone and took up a defensive stance, her eyes darting around to catch the source of the noise.

“Oh lighten up, Slayer.” Came the annoyingly familiar English accented voice.

She spun around to see the platinum blonde vampire leaning against a tree, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. “Don’t you have better things to do, Spike?” She mumbled, dropping her arms to her sides.

The chipped vampire grinned at her. “That’s why I’m here.”

The Slayer rolled her eyes and walked away from him, ignoring his words. She wasn’t in the mood for his testosterone fuelled antics, if he even produced the chemical anymore. She heard quicker footsteps on the grass behind her and surmised that Spike was jogging to catch up with her.

“Wait up, luv. I have some news for you.” He informed her but she kept walking, not looking up at him.

“What might that be then?” She asked.

“I might tell you, if you give me what I want in return.” He spoke in a seductive voice, causing Buffy’s stomach to make a few nauseating gymnastic flips. Did he really think that was sexy?

Buffy came to a sudden stop, turning to face the leather clad vampire. “If you want a smack in the face I’m sure I can accommodate.” She smiled sweetly.

Spike waved a hand in dismissal. “Whatever. Just thought you’d like to know that something big is coming.” He feigned a hurt expression.

“Well, that’s new Spike, never thought I’d see that one coming. Not in Sunnydale.” She moved to walk away again.

Spike grabbed her arm. “I mean it, pet. Demons are packing up and running for the hills. Something has got them freaked.”

This caught Buffy’s attention and she looked him in the eyes, boring down to his non-existent soul. “What?”

Spike let her arm go and shrugged. “Don’t know. That’s my good deed done for the year, I’m outta here.” He spun on his heel and stalked of into the darkness, leaving Buffy to ponder the new threat.

Before she had a chance to go over the miniscule amount of information Spike had given her, she heard scuffling behind her. She turned quickly to see two newly turned vampires bearing down on her. “Back to work.” She muttered as she lunged at them.

*

Willow pulled on her jacket, over the white peasant top she was wearing. She ran her hands over the long denim skirt, smoothing down the rough fabric. She looked over to the bed, her eyes roaming over the body of the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. The blonde perched herself up on one elbow as she gazed back at the redhead.

“I wish you could stay the night.” Tara smiled shyly at Willow.

Willow grinned back. “So do I but Buffy will kill me if I don’t turn up. She’s already going to flip because I’m two hours late.”

Tara nodded, knowing the redhead had responsibilities and that she could manage with an hour of kissing and snuggling with Willow until the next time. “Okay but please be careful. The only marks I want on Willowskin are ones I’ve made.” Tara’s eyes glinted as she flashed the redhead a seductive smile.

Willow was sure her knees had turned to jelly and she found it difficult to keep standing. She wished her sense of duty to Buffy would disappear for just a few hours, no, a few days. That would give her enough time to satisfy the temptress laid out before her on the bed. Her body was urging her forwards but her mind held her back, the conflict inside her making her swoon.

“Oh, Tara, don’t do that.” She groaned the words out.

Tara sat up and ran her eyes up and down the redhead’s body. “Sorry, Will, it’s just right now, I feel like I never want to be apart from you.”

The redhead nodded, understanding how the other witch felt. “I’ll tell you what. Why don’t you come on patrol with me and Buffy?”

“You sure?” Tara was surprised at the redhead’s suggestion. She was certain that Willow would always be reluctant to have her invade on her best friend time. There was also the danger factor but it pleased Tara immensely that Willow trusted her enough to want her along with her.

Willow smiled and nodded again. “You can look after yourself, Tara. I saw that a few weeks ago.” She walked over to where the blonde sat and scooped up her hands. “Remind me never to get on the wrong side of you. You get scary when you’re mad.” Willow let out a giggle.

Tara looked up at the redhead, her eyes serious. “Only when you’re in danger. I’ve never reacted that way before in my life.”

Reaching out with a hand, Willow brushed Tara’s hair back from her face, smoothing the young woman’s furrowed brow. “And I thank you for that but don’t go putting yourself in danger on my account ever again.”

“If not for you, then for who?” Tara asked, leaning into the caress that had moved down to her cheek.

“Let’s not find out.” Willow bent down and pressed her lips against Tara’s forehead, then she pulled back and did the same to each of the blonde’s palms, finally moving to the door. She glanced over her shoulder. “You coming?”

Tara nodded and jumped up off the bed, grabbing a jacket that was draped over the back of a chair. She followed Willow out of the door, pausing to lock it behind her. It wouldn’t do to have the very few items she possessed stolen.

Willow led Tara out of the dorms and down a darkened street, holding the blonde’s hand tightly. She guessed Buffy would be at the cemetery by now, if she hadn’t already left. As they walked briskly along, Willow began formulating excuses in her mind but Buffy would probably see right through any she might try. Willow wasn’t known for lying particularly well. When they reached the boundaries of the graveyard, Willow brought them to a stop and turned to face Tara.

“Now, remember to be quiet, if there are any newly risen vampires lurking around we don’t want to give ourselves away.” Willow whispered. “Also, when we meet up with Buffy and she needs to go into action, it’s best if we just hang back. I always seem to cramp her style when I throw myself into the fray.” She shot Tara a silly grin.

Tara’s eyebrows rose. “You throw yourself at vampires?”

“Uh, well, I actually tend to stumble into them but the outcome is always the same.” Willow smiled sheepishly. “Buffy stakes them and saves the day.”

Tara prodded Willow’s chest lightly. “Give yourself more credit, Will, I’m sure you do a lot to help, I remember Buffy saying you do.” Willow’s cheeks flushed as she thought of her best friend complimenting her. Eventually, she merely shrugged and stepped into the graveyard, pulling Tara with her.

The crispness of the grass under them made silent progress extremely hard and Tara was sure half of Sunnydale would be able to hear them walking. Her eyes darted left and right as her breath quickened. Feeling the adrenaline pump around her body, she found the experience of creeping around at night exhilarating. The mixture of apprehension and fear made for a heady combination and Tara had to keep herself from laughing aloud. Only the realisation that murderous demons were also stalking through the darkness sobered her adventurous thoughts. She wondered if she would ever get the chance to do this with Willow in a safer environment. She smirked at the vision. She almost tumbled into Willow as the redhead stopped abruptly.

“What is it?” She whispered urgently.

Willow held up her hand to stop Tara from speaking, her head snapping left and then right. Finally, she relaxed and faced the blonde. “Sorry, thought I heard something.” The redhead stroked Tara’s upper arm as she spoke to calm the blonde’s nerves if need be. She noticed Tara wasn’t paying her any attention though as she stared past her, an expression of shock and terror on her face. Willow spun around to see a horrendous beast snarling at them, only twenty feet away.

With the basic figure of a canine, the demon had three heads, giant clawed paws, a huge serpent like tail and armoured scales covering its back. Each head was that of a vicious dog, large pointed teeth dripping saliva onto the ground below. The beast was the size of a hefty horse and his red eyes burned into the two witches. Willow backed into Tara, clutching at the blonde’s sleeve, covering her with her petite body. The three-headed hound padded forward slowly, matching their retreat step for step.

“W-Willow.” Tara whimpered as the middle head of the demon widened its powerful jaws and a gravelled growl emitted from its throat.

The redhead glanced at Tara quickly. “Run.” She ordered quietly. Tara hesitated, not wanting to leave Willow to face the beast alone. “Run!” Willow repeated, raising her voice.

Tara turned and sprinted, her body reacting to the urgency in the redhead’s voice. She hurried past graves, old and new, her vision blurring as she ran. The world around her faded as she fled, her mind on the brave hacker whose fate was unknown to Tara. She felt branches whip at her face as she passed through some trees, disturbed leaves scattering to the ground in a whirlwind race. The softness of grass under her feet changed to the rough hardness of paving stones and she became aware that she had left the cemetery. Out of breath, she stopped, her hands on her knees. She took in several gulps of air as rational thinking once again set in. She looked around her, realising she was out on the street beside the graveyard, the darkened buildings looming over her and making her feel trapped. She peered back at the way she had come, not able to see the redhead. What had she done? She’d left the one person she loved alone and unprotected against a vicious monster. She started to head back into the cemetery when someone grabbed her arm, making her scream.

Tara spun around, looking into the chiselled face of a young looking platinum blonde male. The glint in his eyes was slightly disturbing and Tara felt a cold shiver shoot up her spine. She yanked her arm roughly out of his vice like grip, leaving a lingering chill on her skin. Taking in the paleness of his skin, the shy witch’s pulse quickened as she realised what was actually facing her. “Leave m-me alone.” She yelled, stumbling backwards.

The vampire in front of her laughed. “And why should I do that?” His voice was coated in a thick English accent.

Tara jutted her jaw out in false courage. She stood firmly, her back straight and shoulders back. “I know w-what you are and I’m not scared of you.” She readied a spell in her mind, one she could use to confuse the demon.

“If you know what I am then you know what I can do to you.” He sneered, pulling a cigarette out of his leather jacket pocket and sticking it in his mouth. He flicked at the lighter in his hand and lit the cigarette before placing the lighter back in his pocket. His eyes returned to the blonde in front of him and he morphed into his vampiric form.

Tara held back the scream that threatened to force its way out at the sight of the demon. She took an involuntary step backwards, the movement eliciting a smirk from the vampire.

“You look like the type of girl who carries money around, fancy a trade?” He asked, a hint of menace in his voice. When his words were met with a blank stare, he decided to continue. “Your life for the money.” He spoke as if it were obvious.

Shaking her head, Tara continued her slow retreat. “I d-don’t have any m-money.”

The vampire shrugged, throwing the cigarette aside with an exhale of smoke. The cloud of smoke billowed up around his face and his yellow eyes narrowed as he started forwards. In an instinctive response, Tara hit out with her magic, sending the vampire skidding backwards along the road on his back. Her plan to only use defensive measures was now forgotten and she took the opportunity to flee. Running back into the cemetery was probably not the wisest of choices but Tara was desperate, desperate to escape the demon behind her and desperate to get back to Willow.

A scream shattered the silence of the graveyard and Tara realised in a panic that it belonged to her beloved redhead. I’m too late, her mind cried. She tried to speed up but only succeeded on snagging her foot on a protruding tree root and she plummeted to the ground in a pained heap. Her head connected with the trunk of the oak tree and she felt her world contort. Warmth trickled down her temple and she realised she was bleeding. She tried to push herself off the ground but her surroundings spun, causing her stomach to lurch.

She was vaguely aware of someone standing over her and she couldn’t stop the sobs from coming as she thought of Willow at the mercy of the three-headed demon. She didn’t care what happened to her now, she had run from her love when she had needed her and she was too late to save her. Feeling strong hands on her shoulders, her last thoughts were of Willow as her world went black.

I don't know why, but I found the image of Tara working in a flower shop to be lovely.

Her concerns about Willow's use of magic are well-founded, unfortunately she doesn't have the self-confidence to confront her about it.

Great start. Molly be hooked!

Centauri2002, I'm so glad you decided to continue with your story. It was so beautiful when Willow told Tara that she loved her. Interesting that Tara already recognizes that Willow doesn't always use magick properly. Hopefully she will help Willow before it gets too out of control.

Yikes, that's some cliffhanger. I hope both our girls are okay. Great story. Looking forward to more!

I've started the next part of the story and hopefully it will be up tomorrow. Just thought I'd take the time to reply to peoples' comments. :D

fidds: Thanks, you know our girls, they always end up okay. :)

mollyig: I thought Tara being around plants and nature would be perfect. She's as gentle and beautiful as a flower anyway. She might just boost up her confidence soon.

Tiggrscorpio: I found it difficult to write the "I love you" part but it went down well so I obviously didn't do too bad. :)

spazz07: It wouldn't be Sunnydale if things ran smoothly would it? Can't have Tara having perfect time with Willow. *grumble* Okay, I admit it, I'm evil. Or a scrooge.

Kalita: Okay, his name isn't Fluffy and he will be after you if you call him that again. :p The three headed dog may seem a little Harry Potterish but he dates a lt further back than that.

I'm glad you liked that comment by Tara, I'm not too good at the spicy comments.

pikescoob: I'm so happy that you like my writing. *head expands* Thank you.

snuggle79: Thanks and I will be updating soon, I am a regular updater. :D

foreverpiper: All these compliments, I'm beginning to get an ego. *gasps*

ally02: :lol I don't have a particularly large place in my heart for Spike either, that's probably why he's on his back.

Aww, you don't like my cliffhangers? *hangs head*

MissQuirky: You loved it, you really loved it? :lol ahem, sorry. Thanks so much, I'll do my best to keep you liking my stories.

Caz

Tara: I got so lost

Willow: I found you... I will always find you

Part 1b

Postby Centauri2002 » Tue Jul 30, 2002 12:16 pm

Here's some replies first:

The Next Tara Maclay: I'm glad you liked the story. :)

LeatherQueen: I'm glad you're happy with me writing a sequel and as for my cliffhangers... I just can't seem to end a chapter without one.

BFR from Paris: Yes, Tara is going to have to get used to these day to day disasters, wonder if she can manage?

Angst? Moi? ;) Hmm, well, I might just write some in, you never know but I really want to see them happy too... oh the inner conflict. You want more? Well, let me fulfil that request...

This part isn't particularly long but I just wanted to see what sort of response I was going to get... I'm going to be taking a large risk with my writing in the next part but I'm not giving any more away! :p

Part 1b

Terror clutched at Willow's stomach as she stumbled backwards over a plain gravestone, never taking her eyes off the monster bearing down on her. Her back met with something flat and hard, causing her to let out a shocked scream. She glanced quickly behind her, realising with relief that it was only the ivy-infested wall of a fairly large crypt. The demon in front of her paused, examining her with three pairs of glowing red eyes. It's centre head bobbed up and down as it sniffed the air and then glared at her.

"Your fear is flavoursome." The voice echoed inside Willow's mind and was inhuman. The redhead gasped as she realised it was coming from the dog like creature.

"What are y-you?" She forced the words from her mouth, her fear almost paralysing her.

The beast shifted its position, nearing the scared hacker, blocking all routes of escape. Willow noticed its swaying tail ended in the head of a snake, a long red tongue darting out from a fanged mouth. The grotesqueness of this demon caused a nauseating feeling to flood Willow. "Cerberus." The creature growled telepathically, obviously angered by the redhead's words. Okay, it doesn't like being called a what, Willow noted silently.

The fur on the beast's neck rustled as it lowered its three heads, level with Willow's eyes. It folded one of its front paws over the other, dropping its bulky body into a crouching position. To Willow it seemed as though it were toying with her, summing up its new pet. The redhead felt every one of the tiny hairs on her skin stand on end, a shiver wracking her petite frame. She hoped Tara had gotten to safety and not encountered any more demons. Willow would personally curse any creature that harmed the beautiful blonde, that was, if she got out of this situation with her limbs intact.

"So…" She stalled, her voice trembling. "What brings you to Sunnydale?"

The demon's body shook slightly and it bared its fangs. Willow was sure it was laughing at her. "You're an interesting being."

Willow glanced around her, trying to find something she could use against Cerberus, knowing that a spell would be too time consuming and she would be dead by the time she had chanted two words. "Uh, thanks, I think." She muttered.

"Tell me, little one, what is going through your mind?" He questioned her.

The petite redhead was confused as to why this demon was trying to hold a conversation with her instead of dismembering her. It was rather odd and a flicker of hope flared up inside Willow as she thought this might actually be a demon of the non-evil variety. "What do you want?" She asked in response, not wanting to give anything away. If she remained as much of an enigma as she could then that would give her a weapon to use against Cerberus.

"Oh my, we are the brave little human tonight, aren't we?" He taunted. "I wish only to do what I was created to do. Pity you wont get to see me accomplish that." A growl emanated from each of his heads as he lifted himself onto all fours again.

That pretty much dashes the hope of him being a nice three-headed dog, Willow thought, a shiver wracking her body as she watched saliva drip from the demon's mouths. She pressed herself flat up against the crypt, retreating as much as she could but she knew her attempts were futile. She muttered the beginnings of a spell under her breath, hoping she could defy her fears and complete her chant. The demon obviously noticed the rise of power within her and let out a blood-curdling howl before pouncing. Willow squeezed her eyes shut, preparing herself for the impact.

*

Watching the unconscious witch take a few shallow breaths, Buffy let out a sigh of relief. After spotting her running through the graveyard, she followed, unable to get to Tara before the blonde tripped and fell against a tree. The Slayer dabbed a tissue to the witch's brow, which had started to bleed from a small cut. Hearing footsteps and recognising them as Spike's, Buffy turned and scowled at the blonde vampire.

"This is your fault isn't it." She was fairly sure of herself because the vampire wore a pleased smirk on his face.

"The damn bitch had it coming to her. She flung me across the road for no apparent reason. Bloody rude, I say." He complained, flicking a burning cigarette over a gravestone.

Buffy didn't believe him but as she was about to retort, the Wiccan in her arms stirred, moaning quietly. The Slayer looked down on Tara, watching as a panicked look covered her features before blue eyes settled on Buffy's face. She looked momentarily relieved and then panic once again returned. She sat up sharply, wincing as hot needles shot through her head.

"W-Willow." She grabbed the Slayer's arms desperately. "She's in danger, I h-heard her s-scream."

Buffy's eyes widened as the witch's words sunk in. "You mean… that wasn't you screaming?" She stood hurriedly, helping Tara up as she did so. When the blonde shook her head, Buffy turned to Spike. "Get going, see if you can find her!" She snapped.

Tara gasped as she now noticed the vampire standing nearby. "H-H-He…" She pointed weakly at him. Spike grinned at her before hastily retreating into the darkness.

"Don't worry Tara, he can't hurt anyone, he can help us." She faced the frightened Wiccan who was shaking quite violently now. "Where's Willow?" She asked urgently.

Tara motioned between two trees and the Slayer lurched forwards, running at top speed to try and save her best friend from whatever danger she was in. The blonde witch watched her go, her arms wrapped tightly around her shivering body. Willow was in trouble, more than likely hurt and it was her fault, she couldn't begin to forgive herself for that. Her senses whirled, the after effects of her impact with the tree causing her to lose her bearing momentarily. She looked to where Buffy had run, knowing she should follow, but feeling unable to. Her legs shook under the strain of keeping her up right and stars coloured her vision. She held a hand to her face, willing the pain and disorientation to go away. After what seemed like centuries to the blonde, her cloudy mind cleared and she was able to a take a trembling step forward, a buzzing resounding in her ears. She raised her hands out in front of her, feeling her way past trees and crypts, leaning onto the trunks and walls for much needed support. She eventually came across a row of three crypts, their design extravagant and old. Her impaired senses picked up the Slayer's voice but she couldn't make out the words. Looking around as best she could, Tara spotted a blur of a figure to her left but wasn't sure if it was Buffy. A strong sensation washed over the blonde witch and she realised almost immediately that she was sensing the presence of Willow. However, the delightful feeling of her presence was overshadowed by a darkness. A darkness so large it turned the blonde's stomach. She recognised it as the demon they had come across. She felt slightly relieved; knowing that if she could sense Willow then the redhead must still be alive. Tara stumbled forward, her recovering eyesight making out the blur that was indeed Buffy. The Slayer stood frozen on the spot, looking up at the beast, her fists clenched tightly shut.

"Your aura is strong." The three-headed demon stated to the Slayer. "But your defiance is futile, I can not be stopped."

Buffy's brow was creased in worry and frown lines marred her pretty features. Tara knew that the Slayer would never permit the demon to carry out whatever it planned on doing and that would more than likely involve violence of some sort. She just hoped the Slayer could handle a demon of this magnitude.

"Hmm, that's what they all say." Buffy muttered. "And somehow it never ends up working that way. Just because you have two extra heads doesn't mean you're smarter."

The demon growled at her, turning away from the redhead who was crawled up in a ball on the ground, several feet away from a crypt. Tara's heart stopped as she realised the redhead had been hurt, though she couldn't make out any marks on her unmoving form.

"It's a pity you don't have three butts for me to kick as well." Buffy spat, enraging the beast further.

Just as he was about to pounce, the three-headed demon paused, his features softening slightly. "I see what you are trying to do human. Cerberus cannot be fooled so easily. You will not stall me in my purpose." With that, he bounded towards one of the three crypts by Tara.

The blonde witch flung herself behind a nearby tree, hoping the demon hadn't seen her and decided to have a late night snack. With a huge claw, the beast ripped the roof from one of the crypts, debris being thrown in all directions. A stray slab of stone barely missed Willow and Buffy rushed to her best friend's side, pulling the girl into her lap. The redhead's eyes were closed and as Tara made her way over to the pair, Buffy checked the petite body for injuries. The blonde witch dropped down beside them and looked at Buffy.

"I'll look after her." She assured the Slayer who saw the determination in the blonde witch's eyes. She nodded and left her best friend in the arms of Tara whilst she moved towards Cerberus.

Tara smoothed the skin of one of the redhead's cheeks with the back of her hand. "Oh my Willow, please be alright." Tears stung her eyes as she cradled the hacker.

A soft moaning brought a relieved smile to Tara's lips and eyelids fluttered open to reveal sparkling emerald. Willow forced a grin and placed a hand on Tara's forearm. "I want to see that smile every time I wake up." Her grin was then replaced by a slight frown. "Though I'd prefer less of the lead up to my nap time."

Tara let out a small laugh and clutched the redhead to her tighter, eliciting a grunt from Willow. The blonde pulled back immediately, panicked worry in her widened blue eyes. "Oh I'm sorry, did I hurt you?"

Willow chuckled. "Nope, the pain was already there." She placed a hand to the back of her head. Flashes of what had happened came to the redhead and she remembered the weight of the demon slamming into her and then the cold stone meeting her head. She guessed that afterwards Cerberus had merely flung her aside like a rag doll. Then, realising she had told Tara to escape while she could, she looked up into the caring pools of sapphire. "I told you to run."

Tara bowed her head; some of her blonde locks falling across Willow's chest. "I… I couldn't l-leave you." She uttered, her voice dropping to almost a whisper.

Willow beamed, knowing she should be mad at the blonde for putting herself in danger but not being able to bring herself to be anything but happy that Tara cared so much. She lifted her aching body slightly and slipped a hand past blonde hair to touch a soft cheek. Concern etched its way onto her features as she noticed the small wound on Tara's forehead. She opened her mouth to question the blonde but Buffy's defiant voice grabbed her attention. She looked past Tara to see the Slayer circling round a crypt, picking her way through rubble. Fear clutched at her stomach as she saw Cerberus perched on top on the centre crypt, glaring down at Buffy.

The Slayer cautiously edged her way to the final crypt; instinctively knowing the three-headed demon was searching for something. With a quick motion, Cerberus almost entirely demolished the crypt he rested his weight upon. The walls of the burial chamber crumbled, the roof collapsing into the crypt, bringing the demon down with it. Cerberus pawed through the debris, tossing pieces of stone aside, as well as the resident's tomb. He growled in frustration as he didn't find what he was looking for. Buffy decided to take the opportunity to sneak into the remaining crypt whilst the demon was distraction. She slipped through the wooden door, finding herself in gloomy darkness. She could just make out the shadowy outline of a tomb in the centre of the small chamber. As her eyes quickly adjusted to the lack of light, she noticed a slab of stone on top of the tomb. Suddenly, the chamber began to shake around her and dust fell from above, covering her in a thin layer of grey powder. A dim glowing caught her eye as cracks channelled down the length of the walls. The light emanated from the slab she had noticed before and she made her way towards it, avoiding parts of the ceiling that were falling. She grabbed the flat stone, encompassing it in both hands, feeling a shiver wrack through her body as she ran from the room. She knew the crypt would collapse at any moment and she would be buried underneath the debris or fall victim to the demon causing the damage.

Throwing herself to the ground outside the crypt, she heard and felt the rumble of the collapsing stone. She pushed herself to her feet, whirling around to see Cerberus clawing through the remains of the crypt. He seemed confused and, as he looked at the nearby Slayer, three pairs of eyes widened in recognition.

"Give it to me!" He growled.

Buffy lowered her gaze to the stone slab she was holding, noticing for the first time the strange inscriptions etched into its surface. She had no idea what language it was in but she suspected magic of some form as the symbols were glowing, emitting the light that had drawn her to the stone moments before. Something told her she shouldn't hand over the slab to Cerberus and she did what came to her naturally; she raised the stone far above her head and threw it to the ground, causing it to break into several pieces.

A howl of horror came from all three heads of the demon, making Buffy feel as though her eardrums were about to burst. She held her hands to her ears and watched as Cerberus swiped a paw at the remains of the crypt, sending rubble through the air in a fit of frenzy. The Slayer began to doubt her actions and wondered if making this vicious demon mad was such a wise thing to do.

"What have you done!" He roared, baring down on her, stopping a few feet from her, his red eyes burning with rage.

Buffy lowered her hands and steadied her gaze. "Aww, did I break your little… thing?"

"Fool!" Cerberus spat. "You will pay for this." Each of his eyes narrowed, his gaze turning to the two witches to his right. Buffy swallowed hard, trying to guess his next move but the demon was so annoyingly unpredictable. She could smell his putrid breath and the fact that all three heads were breathing her way intensified the horrid odour.

Without any warning, Cerberus leapt away from her, landing to tower above to very frightened witches. He sneered down at them, Tara covering Willow with as much of her body as she could manage. She'd be damned if she allowed Willow to get hurt again. "I require something from you." The demon spoke in a taunting tone. Tara wasn't sure to whom he was speaking.

She let out a scream as on of his head lunged at her, enclosing her shoulder in its mouth without piercing skin with its razor sharp teeth. She was pulled easily upwards to a standing position. Whilst the demon's third head did this, its first moved towards Willow, the redhead's scrambling to get away, futile. The first head's mouth clamped down on Willow's leg, dragging her back towards Cerberus.

Its centre head growled a few words in a language neither girl recognised and a blinding pain ripped through both of their bodies, their cries of agony fading with the three figures.

Buffy ran towards them but before she could reach her friends, they disappeared in display of dark colours. Browns and reds swirled around where the Willow, Tara, and Cerberus had previously been. "Willow!" The Slayer called out in anguish, dropping to her knees as she realised, whatever had happened to her friends, there was nothing she could do.

Part 2

Postby Centauri2002 » Wed Jul 31, 2002 7:51 am

Well, here it is just like I said. :)

Warning: This part is NC-17

Part 2

Willow groaned as she shifted. She felt the soft grass under her pained muscles and the crisp breeze sweep through the night air. As her eyes opened, she saw a mass of blonde hair, where Tara lay next to her. She sat upright quickly, remembering what had just happened to them and, as she looked round, she noted that Cerberus was nowhere to be seen. She was a little confused as to why he hadn’t killed them but no less ungrateful. They were still in the graveyard but she didn’t take much of her surroundings in, she was more concerned with Tara. She reached over to the still blonde with an unsteady hand, shaking her by the shoulder.

“Tara?” Her voice was coarse.

The blonde started and rolled over, looking up into green eyes. “Uh, what…”

Willow placed a finger on the young woman’s lips. “Shh, I think we’re safe for now. Fido’s run off. How are you feeling?”

Tara pushed herself up onto her elbows, her brow creased. “A little odd actually. I mean, we were knocked out… again, so I expect to feel yuck, but I feel strange as well. There’s a… an imbalance in the m-magics here.”

The redhead felt the same sense of discomfort but she had put it down to a concussion or some similar. She didn’t know what the demon had done but that would have to wait. They needed to find Buffy and make sure the Slayer was all right. Willow looked around, taking in the familiar surroundings. Something looked out of place but she wasn’t sure what exactly. As her gaze rested upon the three crypts in front of the pair she realised just what it was. They were completely intact.

“Huh?” Her eyebrows shot up in confusion.

“W-what?” Came Tara’s small voice.

Willow pointed towards the three small buildings. “Did I dream that Cerberus had a stomp fest with those crypts?”

Tara shook her head. “Unless we had the same dream. Cerberus was the demon right?”

Willow looked at the blonde and nodded. “What the heck is going on?”

“I don’t know but it must have something to do with that monster and the magic he used. I heard him say a few words b-before… before we passed out. Maybe we can figure out what’s going on if we knew what they meant.” The blonde suggested.

Willow stood, offering her hand to Tara. The situation reminded Tara of the first real time they’d met and Willow had saved her from a ritualistic killer. That had been just two weeks ago but it felt as if it were another life to Tara. In a sense, it was as she was beginning afresh here in Sunnydale. It had all been going well up until now but she trusted Willow and Buffy would make it right again. She took the offered hand and was pulled to her feet, the redhead possessing a surprising strength for her size. She found herself standing very close to the hacker and couldn’t help pulling her into an embrace, burying her face into copper tresses.

“I’m so glad you’re safe. I was scared I’d lost you.” Tara murmured.

Willow lifted her arms and wrapped them around the blonde, feeling the warmth of her body. Their closeness seemed to replenish the redhead’s depleted reserves and she smiled. “It’s okay, I’m okay, and everything’s going to be all right.” She nuzzled into Tara’s neck, enjoying the moment.

Tara pulled away, placing a kiss on Willow’s forehead. “We should find Buffy now… I… I don’t know where she c-could of gone.” She said, gazing around, her arms still around the petite redhead.

Willow took a hold of one of Tara’s hands and led her towards the three crypts. They approached cautiously, both aware that danger could be around every corner and behind every tree. They finally reached the third crypt, finding that it didn’t even have a scratch in the woodwork of the door. Willow dropped Tara’s hand and pushed against the door, the hinged creaking slightly as it opened. What she found perplexed her even more. The small chamber was completely empty, all four walls bear and the floor naked. She was sure she had seen Buffy run out with something before it collapsed, and even if Cerberus had restored them, shouldn’t there be a tomb inside?

All of a sudden, she felt herself being pushed forwards and before she could complain, the crypt door being shut slightly. She whirled around to see the fearful expression on Tara’s face and she realised the reason for it. She could just make out voices nearing them. Through the small crack between the door and the frame, Willow recognised the voices as female but she couldn’t make out the words. A few seconds went by and no one spoke. All she could hear were Tara’s short quick breaths.

“Just leave me alone!” Willow gasped as she recognised the angry voice as Buffy’s. She moved to push passed Tara to greet her best friend but the blonde stopped her.

Tara shook her head, her hand resting on one of the redhead’s upper arms. “Something’s wrong.” She whispered. For some reason, Tara was more sensitive to the changes around them than most people were and Willow would often stare at her in amazement as the blonde took in the wonders of nature around her, describing what they felt like on a level Willow hadn’t even experienced yet. Sometimes Willow would sense danger or a threat but not to the extent Tara did, as was proved when they first woke from the attack by Cerberus. Tara had been instantly aware of the magical imbalance but Willow had just an inkling of that sense, not being able to understand what she felt. Tara sensed something was also wrong now, so Willow decided to trust the blonde’s instincts.

More silence followed and Willow could make out footsteps coming dangerously close to their hiding place. She felt Tara’s grip on her arm tighten as her own nervousness rose. She didn’t know why she would be apprehensive of being found by Buffy and that lack of knowledge scared her.

“Please, Buffy let me explain.” Willow almost fell over as she thought she recognised the second female voice.

“You’ve already explained. There’s nothing you can do. Now let me do my job.” Buffy’s voice rose in volume as she spoke.

Tara noticed the change in Willow and turned towards her, noticing how much paler she looked. “What is it?” Her voice was in an even lower whisper now and the redhead hardly heard her.

“Uh… I…” She couldn’t force the words out and she froze as she heard the second voice again.

“I understand.” There was silence again but the second voice continued. “I’m sorry. I really am. I should have told you but I was doing what I thought best… no, what my family thought best.” There was no doubt about it now, that voice belonged to Jenny Calendar.

“How can… she’s dead.” Her thoughts pushed their way out of Willow’s mouth and elicited a look of confusion from Tara. She didn’t explain though, only listening to the footsteps fade away and her own thoughts racing about in her head.

*

Buffy slammed yet another book down on the table in The Magic Box, a frustrated sigh escaping her lips. She had called Xander and Anya and told them to meet her here, explaining the situation once they had arrived. She had flipped through several books before they had reached the shop but she hadn’t found anything of any help. After Xander’s initial outburst of concern, Buffy had told them about the demon and exactly how he had disappeared with the two witches. She had also laid out the broken pieces of the stone tablet she had found on the table.

“Sounds like Cerberus to me.” Anya muttered. “He’s pretty unique in the looks department.”

Buffy’s head snapped up at her words. “And you didn’t mention this before because…”

Anya waved a hand absently. “I just remembered, it was over one thousand years ago since I last remember hearing about him.” She said it as if it were obvious.

Xander tried to escape a confrontation and interjected before Buffy could spit out a retort. “So what do you know about this demon, An?”

Anya looked down at her fiancé, smiling. “Well, from what I can remember, he’s been around since, well, forever. He used to guard the gates to hell but since he was dragged out of there by Hercules he has been trying to prove his worth as a guardian for millennia. He blames the human race for his exile but his only goal is to return. I think it was written that there was only one way for him to return and that was if he could find a certain spell.” The ex vengeance demon was lost in thought for a while as the other two absorbed her information. “The spell was continually moved from continent to continent. Apparently, Cerberus has a lot of power, the ability to shift from dimension to dimension and so forth. I bet he’s even able to…”

Buffy cut her off. “Is this the spell?” She pointed down at the tablet; the inscriptions no longer glowed with the alluring light as they had before.

Anya shrugged. “Could be.”

“So, if Mr. Hell-hound can’t complete his only wish, what would he do with a couple of witches?” Asked Xander, running a hand through his black hair.

Buffy shuddered at the thought. It would make sense for Cerberus to go after her as she was the one that had destroyed his only hope but to go after a pair of relatively defenceless girls, it didn’t seem to equate.

“He probably took them to a nightmare dimension, torture them for eternity.” Anya commented, seemingly oblivious to the shocked stares she was getting.

After they were sure Buffy and Jenny were gone, the two witches sat down in the cold crypt. Willow had explained to Tara who Jenny was and how she had died, mentioning briefly about Angel. She couldn’t understand how Jenny was still alive and how Buffy had been unfazed about it. She let her memories drift back to the computing teacher and of her days at Sunnydale High School. Miss. Calendar had always been a caring and helpful teacher and, Willow realised now, they had a lot in common. Computers for one, and then the magic, though Willow was sure she could perform spells far more powerful than her old teacher could.

“What were they talking about?” Tara’s words cut into the redhead’s thoughts.

Willow looked up at the shy Wiccan, noting her pensive expression and the gleam of worry in her eyes. “I, uh… I don’t know.” Willow mumbled, thinking back to the few words she had heard. Miss. Calendar had mentioned something about her family. Wait a minute. “Oh my…” Willow’s voice trailed off as realisation dawned on her.

Tara looked at her curiously. “What?”

She wasn’t sure how, she wasn’t even sure she wanted to know, but she was positive their conversation had been about Angel. Or more specifically, the curse on Angelus. That could only mean that, somehow, they were at the time when Angel had lost his soul and Buffy was torn between killing the one she loved or seeing him harm those she cared deeply about. She felt her throat constrict as memories flashed through her mind.

“How is this possible?” Her voice had raised a few octaves.

Tara shifted closer to her and waited patiently for her to explain, resting her hand on the redhead’s knee.

“I don’t know how, Tara, but we’ve gone back almost four years.” Tara’s mouth gaped in surprise. “Buffy and Miss. Calendar, they were talking about something that happened four years ago. Unless we’re in an alternate reality, yeah, that could be it because that’s happened before. Then again, so has the going back in time thing, kinda.” Willow babbled.

Tara blinked, slowly digesting the young woman’s words. She had never heard of anything like this happening before but then again, this was the Hellmouth and it was a powerful demon that had done this to them. Perhaps it was an alternate reality or dimension, she didn’t know, but one thing was certain, the demon had come here for a reason and they had to find out why. That would be the easy part, stopping it would be an entirely different story.

“If this is the past… if we do anything, could it change history?” Willow’s worried voice came out almost as a squeak.

Tara didn’t know the answer to that question. She wanted to calm the redhead’s fraying nerves but she had always believed honesty was the best policy. “Uh, I d-don’t know, Will. Perhaps, because we were brought here by magic then if we destroy the cause of the magic, all effects will be reversed. I’m not sure if that works the same in this case though. Which begs the question, how do we return?”

This caused the hacker to sigh. “Oh this is bad, this is very bad.” She truly hoped she didn’t go messing up her future by mistake. Something she might do could mean she might never meet Tara. Her heart stopped at the thought and she shook it from her mind. Then another thought struck her, wouldn’t that theory work both ways? She might be able to make the future better as well as worse. Maybe she could save Miss. Calendar. Her brow creased as she realised that might cause a chain reaction and make something go extremely bad for everyone. This whole thing was incredibly confusing. She frowned, wanting to be tucked up in her bed, preferably snuggled up with a certain blonde witch. That thought made her lips curve upwards slightly.

“So, what do we do now?” Tara asked, noticing the emotions flicker across the redhead’s face.

Willow looked up at Tara and her face brightened as an idea came to her. “I know!” She almost shouted. “I want to show you something.” She stood up hastily, dragging the blonde to her feet.

He watched the night begin fade, sensing the approaching light. He rested on his haunches, each of his snouts nestled against surprisingly soft dark fur. For some reason, he always liked this time of the night, when the darkness still ruled but he was aware of the approaching sun. Soon, a myriad of reds and oranges would fill the sky and caress the clouds, causing many inhabitants of the night to scurry into their holes. That certain drawback didn’t curse Cerberus and he was somewhat glad, hating to have to flee from anything.

The spell he had cast had taken a lot out of him, urging him to rest in the dense forest on the edge of Sunnydale. He didn’t mind, though, and quite enjoyed watching his surroundings. Also, the fact that the spell had worked had done wonders to improve his previously rotten mood. The power he had borrowed from the two witches had supplied him with enough to complete the spell. Venturing into the past was something only the foolish did and even then, it would take several covens to channel that kind of energy. He would try anything to return to Hades and be redeemed. His purpose in this time was a simple one. He would kill the young human who had thwarted his plan and return to collect the precious tablet, thus fulfilling his wish and giving him what was due.

The three-headed hellhound watched as a stag bolted from its hiding place behind a tree. He briefly considered chasing it but decided it was a waste of his energy and there were more fruitful beings to hunt. He wasn’t sure how he was going to find the human who had smashed the tablet. Her aura was strong but that was something he was unable to trace. Usually, he would go by scent but this forsaken town made that difficult to go by, the intermingling odours confused him. His only alternative was to go by the feel of her presence but Cerberus found that he couldn’t feel her here, which was odd. As he remembered, her presence had been strong but there was something different about it, as if she didn’t belong where she was. The hellhound decided it would do no good to ponder that thought and instead mentally went over what it was he would do when is energy had fully returned. A small smirk twisted his heads’ features as he realised he’d have to hunt the old fashioned way.

“This might be fun.” He thought aloud.

*

“This is where I spent many of my years studying my life away and saving the world.” Willow’s voice was animated as she spoke.

Tara took in the site of the few steps leading to a path that led to a large building, the atmosphere of the place shouting at her to learn. She would never have thought this could be the ruined site that remained four years in the future. The shadows working across the face of the high school made the place look creepy in the night but she imagined it was a relatively normal place during daylight hours.

“The Hellmouth lies directly under the library.” Willow explained.

Or not, thought Tara. Nothing was ever normal in Sunnydale, it seemed, even the most innocent of things held deadly secrets. Even in the few weeks she had been in Sunnydale, that she knew. She placed a hand on the cold metal of the railing that led up the steps to Sunnydale High School, a shiver passing through her as she felt the shadows of auras left by students. She sometimes had this sensation when in the locale of strong magics but she seemed to be experiencing it more often now. She surmised that it must be her proximity to the Hellmouth that triggered her sight. She could even feel the change in Willow’s aura as she looked up at her old school. The previously darker tones in her aura brightened and Tara looked over to see her smiling.

“I was going to say it hasn’t changed but that would be kinda silly, wouldn’t it?” Willow giggled.

Tara joined the redhead in her giggle and slipped her hand into the hacker’s. Willow moved forward and up the stairs, taking the blonde with her. They neared the building and Willow lost herself in memories. Tara let the redhead dwell in the past for a moment, wondering what she was actually thinking, but not wanting to intrude on her thoughts. Willow tried to remember what her younger self was doing at this moment but as she didn’t know the exact date she couldn’t place a memory, not that she would remember exactly anyway. Her memory wasn’t that good. Something she did recall was that she had just started dating Oz around this time and found out about Xander and Cordelia’s ‘non-existent’ relationship. As she thought back on it now, she realised it didn’t hurt anymore and that it hadn’t for quite a while. She let out a laugh, thinking how silly she was to be so hung up on her friend. It didn’t bother her now, of course, she had grown up, and she had Tara. She gazed over at the blonde, bathing her in adoration. The blonde smiled at her, that beautiful half smile that Willow found so attractive.

“Where shall we go now?” Tara asked, unsure whether the redhead wanted to leave yet.

Willow thought about that for a moment. They should really try to get some information on Cerberus but she didn’t know where to go. The books they would need were probably in the High School library and she didn’t know how a couple of college students were going to sneak in there during the day without being questioned. Then there was the problem that she’d be recognised and she didn’t feel comfortable with letting Tara go alone. If they went now they might be able to find some helpful books but they wouldn’t have enough time to look through them and return them before the school opened the next day. The last thing she wanted was Giles getting suspicious and sending the Slayer out to hunt down some book thieves. She smirked, thinking of the tweed-clad librarian and of how she missed him. She hadn’t seen him in quite a while, not since he’d returned to England. Now, he was still the Watcher in love with the computing teacher, who had a teenage upstart for a Slayer.

“I think we should find some place to get some rest. My head’s still spinning and you can’t be much better.” She ran the tips of her fingers over Tara’s forehead, being careful as not to touch the cut there.

Tara nodded, letting her eyes flutter closed momentarily as she enjoyed the other woman’s touch. “W-Where?”

Willow frowned, her plan coming to an abrupt halt. They had no place to stay and they couldn’t hang about on the streets, it was far too dangerous and no place for her precious Tara. Buffy’s mother still occupied the room she had four years from now, her younger self staying at her parents’ house. Tara’s dorm room would belong to a different student. “I don’t know.”

“We could stay at a motel.” She offered. “I have enough money to last us…” She fished inside her jacket and pulled out her purse, which had amazingly remained in the shallow pocket. “Oh, two nights, maybe.”

Willow nodded. “Okay, lets hope that’s enough time.” She moved towards the steps once again, Tara following quietly behind.

The redhead hoped that a motel owner would be awake at this time of night and they could get a room. A little spark of excitement ignited within her as she thought of sharing a room with the blonde, perhaps even sharing a bed. She couldn’t think of anything she’d rather do. Well, actually, she could but it involved the bed as well. They walked in comfortable silence down the path, keeping to the well-lit streets. Willow realised this put them in full sight of any vampires out looking for a meal but it also meant that she’d be able to see anything attacking them before it reached them. The houses they passed were dark and lifeless, causing the streets to take on an eerie ambience. Luckily, Willow knew the streets of Sunnydale extremely well and they soon approached one of the less seedy motels. She thought back to the motel Faith had stayed in, before she had turned psycho on the Scooby Gang, and shivered, never wanting to be forced to lodge in a place like that. Then, she realised with a wry smile, Faith hadn’t even been passed on the powers of the Slayers yet. Kendra was still alive. The redhead squeezed her eyes shut tightly, trying to force all the memories from her mind. Their trip here had triggered a cascade of recollection for the hacker and it was giving her headache a headache.

She pushed open the creaky door to the motel; slipping inside and holding it open for the blonde behind her. She approached the desk where a balding, plump man sat slumped against it, snoring slightly. Willow inwardly groaned. She was going to have to deal with a grumpy landlord going through a mid life crisis. She brought her hand down firmly on the little bell beside the sleeping man’s head, causing him to jump up, startled. She stopped herself from laughing as she saw his panicked expression. That look soon turned to annoyance as he glanced at the grimy clock on the wall. It was past three o’clock in the morning.

“Yeah?” He grunted, wiping a trail of drool from his chin.

Willow took a deep breath, forcing herself to keep from screwing her face up in disgust. “We’d like a room, please.”

The balding man snorted. “Just the one?” After Willow nodded, he glanced over at Tara, who fiddled nervously with the hem of her jacket, her head dipped. “I’ll be expecting the money every morning at ten. How long you staying for?” He narrowed his eyes at Willow with suspicion.

“Uh, two or three days, maybe more.” She didn’t want this annoying man booking out their room before they left.

That seemed to satisfy him for the moment and Willow suspected he just wanted to get back to sleep. He reached behind him, pulling a battered key off a hook and passing it to the redhead. “Room 101, no pets, no loud music, no noise making…” He leered at Tara for a second and Willow felt like punching him. “And no parties.” He said pointedly.

Willow quickly grabbed Tara’s hand and pulled her towards a door marked ‘patrons’, hastily slipping through it and away from the disturbing individual in the entry room. Tara seemed to relax as soon as the door closed. As they walked down the long corridor, Willow scanned the door numbers, which seemed to be descending in numerical order. An unsettling thudding noise emanated from room 104 and they shuffled past quickly, finally reaching their designated room. Willow slipped the key in the lock and turned, hearing a satisfying click as the door unlocked. She turned the handle and opened the door, retrieving the key as she did. The dingy little room was less than inviting but Willow knew it would serve their purposes. She allowed Tara to enter first and then she followed, closing and locking the door once more. The room was sparsely furnished, containing only a double bed, an old chair, and a small dark table. The wallpaper was striped and coloured in brown and dull yellow, making Willow think that someone had decorated it after they’d drunk too much. The horrid wall covering was matched with an equally nasty carpet, which was dark green in colour and sported muddy stains and cigarette burns. The things I get myself into, Willow thought.

Tara walked towards the bed, slowly sitting on it, pleased to find the mattress seemed in quite good condition as opposed to the rest of the room. Suddenly feeling tiredness invade her body, Tara lay back on the bed, shifting so she was comfortably positioned. Willow walked over, pulling her jacket off and draping it over the battered chair. She placed the key on the table and then lowered herself onto the bed beside the blonde witch. She ran a hand lazily over Tara’s stomach and the blonde’s eyes closed at the touch.

“This isn’t how I imagined sleeping with you.” Willow murmured, a happy smile lighting her face. As Tara’s eyes opened, she realised how that had sounded. “Uh, I mean sleeping in the same bed as you.” She felt her face flush as she spurted the words out.

Tara chuckled, placing a hand over the one on her stomach. “You never imagine actually sleeping with me?” She teased.

Willow’s eyes widened as her blush deepened. “I didn’t mean that! I, uh, it’s not that I… Well, I do, but…” She froze, seeing the playful glint in Tara’s eyes. She patted the blonde on the arm. “You!”

Tara let out a laugh, her body vibrating with the motion. Willow scooted closer to her, slipping her arm fully around the other woman’s waist. “You are so easy to tease.” The blonde commented, finally calming enough to stop laughing.

Willow pouted, donning her best puppy dog eyes. Tara crumbled easily, pulling the redhead in for a welcome hug. “And you’re so easy.” Willow laughed, receiving an indignant “Hey!” from the blonde.

Willow pulled back and saw Tara was in full sulk mode, looking the other way. “Aww, baby, did I upset you? I’m sorry.” She was still being playful but Tara looked at her with serious eyes. “What?” Willow asked.

“You called me…” The blonde paused, searching the other girl’s eyes.

“Well, you are my baby.” Willow grinned.

Tara’s heart felt as though it was going to burst, those few words had made her so incredibly happy and she pulled the redhead closer again. Willow lowered her face to Tara’s and their lips met in a needy kiss, both women wanting to express their feelings for one another. Tara moaned into Willow’s mouth as the redhead deepened the kiss, slipping her tongue past Tara’s lips. She moved her leg over the blonde’s, trying to get as close to the shy witch as possible. The movement elicited another short moan from Tara; her hands travelling up Willow’s back and back down again to sneak under the hem of the fabric there, finally meeting with heated skin.

Willow pulled back from the kiss, deep emerald burning into darkened blue, the desire so obvious to both of them. Willow knew what was going to follow such heated kissing and bed sharing and suddenly she was a little unsure. She had never before done this with a woman and she didn’t know what to do. She was a little scared that she would disappoint Tara and do something wrong. She hated being so inexperienced. Also, it would mean that their relationship would move to the next level and, though Willow knew that was what she wanted, she didn’t know if Tara was ready for it.

Tara saw the uncertainty cross Willow’s face. As if realising for the first time that Willow might not actually want to make love to her, Tara pulled away, immediately missing the contact. “Oh, I’m s-sorry.”

Willow’s brow creased. “For what?”

“I… I didn’t… you’re n-not ready.” She finally managed, looking away.

The redhead let out a breath of relief, which caused Tara to shift uncomfortably, feeling even guiltier. “Oh no, Tara, I am.” She assured.

The blonde looked slowly over at her girlfriend, doubt in her eyes. “You are?”

Willow nodded. “I am.” She said, and then her voice dropped. “I didn’t know if you wanted it and I’m kinda nervous about being bad and not satisfying you and then you’ll hate me…” Tara silenced her babble with a kiss, a passionate meeting of tongues that quelled all their fears.

When they pulled apart for air, Tara looked deep into the emerald pools before her. “I could never hate you, Willow.” Tara placed a finger on the redhead’s lips when it looked as if she might argue. “And the way you make me feel by just being near me, I doubt you’ll have any problems with the satisfying part.” She gave Willow a sensual half smile that caused the redhead’s tummy to flutter.

Leaning in again, Willow kissed Tara with a fire she never knew she had, the desire enveloping them both and pushing all thoughts from their minds. Their bodies pushed against one another’s, needing to feel the heat and love radiating from them. Willow let her hands slide over the rough fabric of Tara’s jacket and slip inside to push it off her shoulder. The blonde pushed herself up into a sitting position, shrugging the garment off easily and tossing it aside so it landed in a crumpled heap on the floor. Willow shifted so she was straddling Tara’s hips, the pair never breaking the heated kiss. The passion flooded the redhead’s veins, clouding her mind in a heady rush, urging her ministrations forward so she could feel flesh against flesh. She had never felt such a primal need before and she couldn’t do anything but satiate that now. She tugged desperately at the hem of Tara’s top, informing the blonde that she wanted the barrier off. Tara was more than happy to comply and she lifted her arms up so Willow could remove it, also breaking their kiss.

Willow’s eyes roamed hungrily over the inviting skin of Tara’s torso, resting on the white material of her bra. Her fingers brushed over the cotton, causing Tara to shiver at the contact. Willow’s arousal deepened as she watched the firm buds of Tara’s nipples harden through the material. She reached around the blonde’s body and felt her way to the clasp of the bra. As she fiddled with it, frantically trying to undo it, she pressed her lips once more to Tara’s their tongues meeting in a spiralling dance. She finally felt the welcome release of the clasp and brought her hands to the blonde’s shoulders, pulling back so she could look into aroused sapphire pools. Her hand slipped slowly over Tara’s shoulders, bringing the straps of the bra with them. The bra fell from the blonde’s shoulders and Willow flung it aside with the previous items of clothing. An emerald gaze wandered over the newly released mounds, marvelling at their fullness. She brought her hand up to stroke the sensitive skin around a pert pink nipple. Tara let out a gasp of pleasure, her eyes fluttering closed for a moment.

Willow lowered her head and placed kisses along the blonde’s collarbone, her thumb brushing over the sensitive nub beneath her hand. She nipped and sucked at her new lover’s neck, eliciting approving moans from low in the blonde’s throat. Willow pushed Tara back on the bed so she was lying down once again. She then grasped her own peasant top and pulled it hurriedly over her head, letting it drop to the floor and revealing her braless torso. Tara’s gentle hands came up to rest on the redhead’s exposed waist as she took in the sight before her.

“You’re beautiful.” She breathed.

Willow smiled and leant down, kissing Tara again, pressing their bodies together. Both women let out a delighted moan as the heated skin met, breasts crushed against breasts. Tara brought a hand up to Willow’s head, entangling her fingers in copper tresses. Their kiss deepened and became more desperate as Willow’s hands roamed the blonde’s sides, exploring her curves. Everything about the blonde was invading Willow’s senses, her intoxicating scent, her addictive taste, the silken feel of her skin, it drove the redhead on, needing to experience more of this wonderful woman.

“Oh Tara.” Willow murmured into the blonde’s mouth, sending a shock of molten desire down Tara’s body to settle in between her legs.

To Willow, it felt like her body was on fire, the spark ignited by Tara’s touch had now turned into a flaming inferno in her nether regions. The sweet torment of the blonde’s hand on her back was driving her crazy and she needed to feel her in more intimate parts. She parted their upper bodies for a moment so her hands could wander over warm flesh. Her fingers drifted over the soft skin of Tara’s stomach and down to the button of her jeans. She swiftly popped the button out of the hole and slid the zipper down, her pulse quickening as she became ever closer to her goal. Tara lifted her hips to allow Willow to slip the denim off, revealing creamy skin. Once Tara was left only in her panties, the redhead moved back up her body, lowering herself onto the blonde. She captured Tara’s mouth, her desire blinding her and she felt as though she was only living for the feel of the blonde against her.

Tara’s senses centred totally on the petite redhead on top of her. She felt the fiery kisses making their way from her lips, over her jaw, and down her neck, sending jolts of electricity through her body. The spark they had felt between them when they had first touched two weeks ago was magnified ten fold now and Tara was sure she was going to pass out through the pure pleasure of it. Her heart pounded at the sensations Willow was producing and she let out a long moan as the redhead placed her lips around an erect nipple. Willow licked and sucked at the pink nub, causing the wetness between Tara’s legs to grow. The redhead’s hand trailed up and down over Tara’s exposed thigh, leaving goose bumps in its wake.

“Willow…” Tara murmured, not quite aware that she was speaking.

The hacker’s head popped up from its task, green eyes searing into blue. The wandering hand on Tara’s thigh paused, causing a little whimper to escape the blonde’s lips.

“I need you…” Tara’s hand ran through red hair and pushed at her head. “Now!” Her voice was almost a growl and it made a rush of pleasure shoot down Willow’s body.

The redhead’s lips returned to the puckered nipple whilst her hand began its slow torturous movements. Her fingers trailed up to the band of the white cotton panties Tara wore, the blonde’s hips bucking upwards, signifying she needed more. Willow’s hand slipped under the fabric, feeling the patch of curls beneath it. Every now sensation Willow experienced urged her on, making her feel invigorating. The scent of Tara’s arousal drifted up to her and she was amazed at how she made this beautiful woman feel. Whilst her mouth shifted to the other unattended nipple, her fingers probed downwards, finding the puffy outer lips of Tara’s centre. The blonde gasped out a groan, pleasurable sensations buzzing through her nerves. The redhead’s fingers stroked the length of Tara’s pussy, the blonde’s hips rising from the bed at her ministrations. Willow sensed that her lover wanted more and she was all too willing to give it to her, needing to feel Tara as much as the blonde needed to be touched.

Tara repositioned her right leg between Willow’s thighs, pressing up against the redhead’s groin, causing her to let out a small moan. Her hand wandered down the hacker’s body, finally fumbling with the buttons on Willow’s jeans. Still straddling Tara’s leg, Willow lifted herself up, helping Tara undo the buttons, eventually succeeding in their task. Tara grabbed the denim and pulled Willow back to her, needing the feel of her skin on hers once more. As Willow continued to stroked Tara’s outer lips, the blonde’s found it’s way under the redhead’s panties and into copper curls. Willow groaned against Tara’s neck as the blonde imitated her own probing, relishing in the feel of the redhead’s slick centre.

Tara’s mouth found Willow’s as she pushed a finger inside the hacker, who was by now panting with every motion. She started a slow rhythm, bringing her finger out of her lover almost completely before thrusting back inside. Willow’s pelvis rocked with Tara’s hand as she increased the tempo.

“Oh Will…” Tara managed as she felt the redhead’s forefinger slip inside her easily before being joined a second digit.

The two witches matched their rhythm and rocked in unison, feeling that they were more at one with each other than they had ever been with anyone or anything, including themselves. Tara’s breath came in short ragged gasps, moans of pleasure escaping her throat from time to time. Willow’s mouth returned to the blonde’s neck and she sucked on the sensitive skin there. She picked up the speed of her thrusting, adding yet another finger as she felt Tara’s inner walls tighten around her digits. She felt her lover fill her pussy with three fingers of her own, causing white flashes of light to impair her vision. She knew she was incredibly close to crashing over the edge of a very welcoming chasm and she was very willing to jump into it. Her hips bucked uncontrollably, their rhythm now erratic and almost desperate. She felt the blonde’s muscles constrict and her inner walls clamp down on her fingers as her breath hitched and she flooded her desire onto Willow’s hand. The jerky responses from Tara caused her to thrust her fingers hard inside Willow and she pressed her thumb against the sensitive bundle of nerves encased in the redhead’s outer lips.

“Tara!” Willow cried out as she felt herself falling into that chasm, a wave of absolute contentment washing over her as her body tensed and she came in a flood of pleasure.

They both brought each other down slowly, basking in the delight of reaching that wondrous place and causing the other to reach it as well. As they extracted their fingers, Willow settled down beside Tara, her breath returning to normal as she draped an arm and a leg over her lover. Sweat glistened off the blonde’s forehead and chest, and a rosy glow emanated from her. The redhead placed a tender kiss on Tara’s lips, sending tingles run the length of her body. The blonde wrapped an arm around the petite hacker, satisfaction flooding her being. She had never felt so complete before and she wanted nothing more than to stay in the arms of this amazing woman forever. Emerald blazed into sapphire as they shared all their emotions for one another in just one look.

“I love you Willow.” Tara’s voice came out in a hushed tone, as if she spoke the words then all of what she was feeling would go away.

Willow reached up a hand and stroked the blonde’s cheek. “I love you too, baby.” She smiled serenely at her lover. All the doubts from before seemed silly and meaningless now as they lay relishing this moment. If there was one thing she knew now, it was that she was meant to be with this woman and if she spent the rest of her life loving her, it would never be enough.

Okay so Fido (heh!) needed Willow & Tara's power to go back in time so he can best the younger Buffy, I think he's underestimating them though.

Interesting where in time he went back to though, the presence of Jenny is intriguing.

If there was one thing she knew now, it was that she was meant to be with this woman and if she spent the rest of her life loving her, it would never be enough. Oh yes! Wonderful!

Centauri2002, wonderful update. You've beautifully described their first time making love. Wonderful twist having Jenny appear. Very interesting that the monster can sense a difference in Buffy. Season 2 Buffy is very different from Season 6 Buffy, who was ripped out of heaven. Scary that anything W/T do, may alter their future. Has to be very tempting for Willow, who always just wants to make everything right.

Very intriguing story. Looking forward to more!
