Well, an S9 change with Willow

Buffy stuff. Open to everyone now.

Well, an S9 change with Willow

Postby Dana5140 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 5:03 am

Just read an article about the upcoming comic season and will pass this on, for what it is worth. Appreantly Willow and JFK are defunct, and Willow seems to be in a new relationship with, if the comic teaser is not misleading, an attractive African American woman. More than that I do not know.

She's got a new hair cut too. You can see a little bit here, and the third page has her with the aforementioned women.

Apparently the way it ended with JFK, there was a line that broke the fourth wall and was intended for the readers, something like, "Happy now?" as it ended (obviously in reference to how disliked she was).

*shrugs* The comics don't do much for me. I'm not a comic fan in general.

This hardly matters. The comic was so poorly received in the end that it really doesn't matter what they do. This is no longer the Willow we knew.

Its more messed up than that.
S9 Willow says she broke up with JFK because the was still in love with someone she will never see again.

So you know...If you have to read the comic and don't want to hand of money to Joss..well, you would have to Google a hurricane Torrent of windy Downloads...
just saying..

Well, yes, she says that to Buffy, and it's written to look like she means Tara. But it's clear from a later panel makes it clear she isn't.

Not that she doesn't still love Tara; it's clear from the Willow comic she does.

She just also loves someone else.

And if you don't want to buy the comics, try the library and/or interlibrary loan. Worked for me.

You are probably right.. but there are other ways this can be the big "fuck you gun" cocking.

“Not gonna say what we have planned for Tara in Season 9 but let’s just say that Willow has some major trauma ahead of her,” Allie says. “Willow maybe has reacted the least well at the end of Season 8 and she will be feeling that daily in the series.”

If anything, Willow has been calm, wise Goddess Willow. She hasn't snapped at Buffy, she seems gentle about it, and seems to have a big picture view.
If she is handling it badly, that must be some fantastic prozac.

On a side note, these comments remind me of the comments from the writers in s6 and s7, in that they seem to be cryptic hints at at things that don't happen.

It would have been polite to spoiler cut that. I assumed though, as did many of the S9 followers, that that's what would happen. I'm interested about what that means for the future, but as only skim the comics as a kind of morbid curiosity.

My apologies, I edited the post to add it.
When the show was on the air I posted in the spoiler thread which was sort of a free fire zone, I forgot my manners.

Ok, I am not following the comic, but I do keep an eye on the Wikipedia page for Willow.

Here it is. Copy and pasted from the article with no edits.

Spoiler:
in the forth coming ninth season dark willow returns where she uses a spell to turn all the slayers in to ordinery girls and later on kills thousands of them using a certain power spell. xander once again comes to the rescue to save willow which he willingly dies doing so to save willow.

It's just suck piled on top of suck.

More of the same 'Life sux, the nice guys die.'
God, get a new theme already!

It's just sad and tiresome.

i see glimpses of this stuff here and there and it just makes me feel kinda ill.

@Azirahael.

I avoid the comic. But I do monitor Willow's and Tara's Wikipedia pages.

In the comic it's the same shit different day.
In the RPG, this morning Willow read some news on her iPad, Tara graded papers. (or something as equally mundane.)

Did ya'll see that she's getting a spin off? It's out in November, assuming it isn't canceled last moment like the Drusilla one.

http://shelf-life.ew.com/2012/04/12/buf ... ke-willow/

Spoiler:
Stripped of the magical mojo that had made her a powerful witch, she [Willow] amscrayed a few issues back with Buffy’s mystical slayer scythe, and the new comic miniseries finds her meeting up with Angel (from the parallel Angel and Faith comic series) to try to bring magic back to Earth. Or, at least, that’s what Willow says her plan is.
“She mainly just wants magic back for herself, whether she realizes it or not,” says miniseries scribe Jeff Parker, a comic writer and artist who’s scripted issues for X-Men: First Class, Agents of Atlas, Hulk, and Thunderbolts. “She really misses just being a witch and just doing what she used to do. She doesn’t really know what she’s looking for or how she’s going to do it. Her ego is pretty big at this point, and she thinks she can just figure it out for herself. So she goes charging into a chaotic universe where magic is all that matters, really.”

Willow Info about Angel and Faith 13

Spoiler:
She goes with angel to Qor Toth, I wonder if she has magic there

On a side note, has any character ever been more f@#$#@ over than willow.
Lost her true, lost magic twice, destined to live hundreds of years alone in the dark and be killed by her best friend...

Did I Miss anything?

Postby willowtaralover » Mon May 14, 2012 9:03 am

As you all know Dark Horse and Joss Whedon have been continuing the adventrues of Buffy in comic book form and Willow recently left with the Scythe as she starts a quest totry and bring magic back. Well it appears that Dark horse are now going to start a Willow solo comic about her adventures, the 1st issue available from November 21st. THere's more info on the link below.

I've just been looking through some of the other stuff here about BtVS 9 and it all does sound pretty crappy to me. After reading that the idea that Willow just wants to get magic back for herself would mean a huge step back in character development after the events of the tv series and the season that dare not speak it's name. I just can't believe that this is being done to Willow, she was always my favourite scooby :(. I think I'll make my own season 8 and possibly 9 and have Willow and Tara both in it.

Crimony. They bring back Dark Willow almost as much as Marvel brings back Dark Phoenix.

Next thing you know it will be "Good" Willow vs. "Evil" Willow.

I may have seen this but this was from last year

“Not gonna say what we have planned for Tara in Season 9 but let’s just say that Willow has some major trauma ahead of her,” Allie says. “Willow maybe has reacted the least well at the end of Season 8 and she will be feeling that daily in the series.”

I sort of feel like Willow is being held hostage by assholes, and I am just watching it play out with dread.

Well, the bits of S8 and S9 that I have read, she should be messed up. I admit, I think the idea of
Spoiler:
stripping the world of magic
is a great one, and one that would impact Willow profoundly, and make for some great character development. However, my heart is tired, and jaded, and I am always wary of statements like that.

Update from Dragon con

Postby drlloyd11 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 10:17 pm

Georges Jeanty had some comments on s9, Tara, Willow, and screwing up.

First the chain yanking..
n the larger Dark Horse/Whendonverse news, Jeanty explained how Spike and Willow’s mini series play into things. Spike has already struck out on his own, heading off with his army of bugs to get over being Buffy’s Dark Place. Willow will head out soon – one more issue with the Angel & Faith crew and she’s off on her own. Once she’s through her mini series, she’ll be back in the world of Buffy Season 9 – and that much closer to having resolved the problem of a destroyed Seed and the end of magic in the world.
But, since nothing is straightforward in the Whedonverse, even if magic comes back into the world, it won’t come back smoothly. Willow will have to deal with her own issues, including the temptation to bring Tara back. But wait – Tara died of non-magical causes. You’re not supposed to be able to bring back those deaths, right? Well, no… not really… unless you’re feeling a little bit Dark, that is.

now the screw up
The audience suggested – and Jeanty agreed – that maybe it would be helpful to include a one or two page summary on what the hell was going on with Twilight in Season 8. Jeanty has no idea. Twilight is a universe, not a person… it created itself… it was already in existence… basically, he got to draw sky sex. For Jeanty, the Twilight thing started out great – but got convoluted and fast. It needed Joss to come in at the end and set up Season 9.

Interview with Jeff Parker on Willow series..more random hints

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=40815

Typical comment from writer
""Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow - Wonderland" is very much Willow's story as she heads out on her own and learns a bit about herself on her way to restore magic. Key supporting characters will make some brief appearances, but in possibly unexpected places.

...
"They won't be directly in the story," said Parker. "We'll connect to them in strange ways. Someone from Willow's distant past will be figuring in though, as well as the snake-demon-woman Aluwyn.""

and
" Along the way, she finds out a few interesting secrets of the universe, and how magic works. And, she'll find what's essentially Witch Paradise.""

I can feel the great big "fuck you" gun cocking..
