We're doing a phpbb upgrade tomorrow as well as cleaning up the HTML left over. It should take a couple of hours but just to be sure, find a nice distraction Sunday night.

It will start around 8pm, pacific standard time, 11pm EST.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

It's simply unacceptable that we have what will add up to about 2 hours of downtime in ten years. Just... I'm shaking with rage over just how much this disturbs me. I might have to go calculate the percentage downtime and compare it to industry standard :grin

Anyway, shouldn't you have been absent for about six years now? What do you think you're doing, hanging around, paying for and supporting this place? What, do you think anyone loves you for it? :dumbo

Shouldn't what's left of the board be covered in porn by now... Oh, wait, this IS Pens so THAT part's kind of true... we just like to call it PWP :laugh

Thank you for the advanced notice... Now back to my new T&W fic... :kgeek

OMG Katharyn, Thank goodness I wasn’t taking a sip of coffee when I read this. Too funny!

First the super cool 10 year Anniversary celebration, then updating the forum and adding a pretty new style that includes a gorgeous banner created by our very own Foo, now this. Clearly, the magic of Willow and Tara is simply irresistible and inspires people to do wonderful things. :wtkiss Hooray!

You’re writing a new Willow and Tara fic? Another Hooray! :)

I need to take better care to read these types of things. I scared myself badly when I was getting FORBIDDEN messages.

Phew.

drlloyd11 has mad skillz with scripts! I still can’t believe it.. ALL the posts, fic and feedback and threads in every forum can read without the ugly html code getting in the way. This never would have been possible, converting every post manually, no matter how much time we put into it.

:bounce Thank you sooo much drlloyd11 ---amazing— THANK YOU!!!

Hola! Thanks for all the work you're putting into the board ^^
I noticed a couple of things though, in some fics there are some lines/formatting that have been cut off, i.e. italicizing/bold or words between double <<. I don't know zit about coding, but is it supposed to do that?
ETA: Waaaa and the signatures!

There’s an issue with signatures messing up posts. At the moment they are off. They should be kicked back on soon. Hang in there.

Heya!

So, I'm having a problem with the board since the recent change.
While the old stories and sigs are now properly formatted (Yay!)
I can't see any new (previously working) sigs, including my own.
Also the background for the posts does not line up with the text occasionally, making it hard to read.
Neither of these issues is a killer, just kinda annoying and something i thought you'd wanna know about.

The sig issue appears on all background styles.
the Text issue seems to only happen on "dirty kitten" background (the one i use all the time)

Figured i should say something.

R

[Edit] Ok, so i'm an idiot, Laragh just told me that all sigs are switched of currently. so i just have a minor display isuue.
Feel free to ignore or delete this post.

Yup, sigs are off. Read above. For all the old posts: All signatures in the old posts were incorporated into the post itself. Technically, that text is no longer a signature and why you can see them but not current sigs. As for the text alignment on Dirty Kitten: There are tons of posts here and, unfortunately, we can't check each and every one for problems. If you could provide direct links to specific posts with this issue that would really help. Just a few will do.

drllyod is working on several issues and it may take some time to get these little bugs fixed.

Please post a direct link to any problems you run across in this thread.

AHA! I checked out Dirty Kitten and saw what you are talking about with the text. EEK. Good news here.. I'm pretty certain the cause is the same one we are having with the quote/text resizing problem which is also why the sigs are off right now. I can resubmit a post and it clears up BOTH issues, as long as the sig is OFF. drlloyd is already hard at work on that and will have it cleared up soon.

Alrighty then.

figured it wasn't my browser, 'cos it happens on my phone too, and you better believe that's a different browser :)

No big panic, but i figure if you don't know you can't fix it.

I appreciate the heads up on that text misalignment issue. Having someone else looking over the Dirty Kitten theme really helps --Thank you!

note to all:

Another thing to look for is emoticons that don’t display. Xita will need a direct link to the post. Most of them have been fixed (thanks Xita!) but there may be a stray or two here and there. Some issues are much less obvious like the invisible (not actually missing coz there’s a back-up file) text in posts. If it wasn’t for kitten “wannafriendsbe” (thanks again!) checking the fic and noticing a problem, we may not have caught it for days, weeks or even years down the road. There are currently 400626 posts here, impossible to check it all, so any reports of things that don’t look right are greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that's the text misalignment issue on Dirty Kitten. You can resubmit the post above it and posts go back in line.. it may take re-submitting several posts to get the full page back in line. It's pretty widespread across the forums. Hopefully that will be fixed along with the other issues here pretty soon.

Got another one:
Emoticons display but do not animate.

Don't know if this is a problem or a function of the repair work, like the turned off signatures.
Happens on both my computers and my phone.
happens with all three board styles.

now you know.

It may be because the gif I re-aimed the url at was not animated. Let me know which ones and I will check.
Side note: I have made many many improvements for the next upgrade, which was delayed by work deadlines /family crisis / and then a hospital stay.
Many apologies for the delay.

no need to apologize for being busy!

For me: NONE of the emoticons animate.
none at all.

They all animate for me too. Hmmm.. that's odd. There are a few rarely used emoticons that still need fixing but most have been taken care of.

Anytime you find a post that looks wrong, other than what's already been mentioned, please provide a direct link to it. Otherwise, it will be nearly impossible to check. I’m pretty sure we’ve discovered most of the bad emoticons and other issues but it is a big forum so any help looking around is greatly appreciated. :)

Ok, seems to be an 'Opera' thing.
Whatever you changed doesn't sit well with the browser 'opera', which is on both my comps and phone.
as to 'which posts' it's all posts on all pages, including the 'post a reply' page

It's not a big deal, i know what the emoticons are supposed to look like.

Internet explorer animates the icons, but it sux, so nevermind :)

:applause <- is jumping and clapping as usual for me. That's what isn't working for you, I take it?

Sorry to ruin the theory but if that's what you mean then the emoticons animate fine for me and I use Opera too. Currently on version 11.62 on the PC and I'll edit in a minute with the version number for Opera Mobile.

Edit: actually it's NOT working on my Opera Mobile version 7.0.29530. :)

Nope, no clapping here.
I might try reinstalling Opera, or just ignore it until the next update.
it is the same version you have.

Or i might go play Diablo 3.

It won't solve the problem, but it's fun :)

Yup, i did!

New problem, don't know if this is new or what:
Searching through the memberlist page, if you click on one of the letters at the top to sort by the letter of the name, it returns an 'address not found' error.

hope this is useful.

Friends, kittens, We are aware that there are some lingering issues, from the upgrade to phpbb3 and from recent attempts to recover old material.
Here are some news:
1. We are trying to recover old Novogate posts and stories. They will be in a separate forum for now. Do not post there.

2. We know there are issues with the italics tag, signatures and some user names, we are going to run a reparse that will fix most of those issues. That will be running in the background for a while, days, even weeks.

If you find other issues, please let us know in the next few days before we start the big reparse.

Thanks for your patience. We're lucky to have some help with this. I have seen other boards upgrade software and have broken posts forever. So, Thanks Brad!

And thanks to Kajun for her continual reports on what is broken. You both love the board and it is very much appreciated.

Thank you, that's a known bug we are working on. As a work around, you can temporarily switch to the kitten theme and look up names, it's only the dirty kitten that's affected. It will be fixed though.
