I have a little mirror in my hallway today and I stole a glance at myself before going outside today and i thought "wow you actually look really pretty" to myself. I havent felt this pretty in a long time and it felt really good. In the words of Jonny Bravo "Man I'm pretty"

Yesterday I ate green beans. Probably for the first time in over a decade. And ya know what? They're actually edible. Gross, but edible. So I ate at least a serving of them-- about a month's worth of veggies in my normal diet. Then I ate pizza with tomato, spinach, peppers, and olives, and once I pulled the peppers of it was actually pretty good. My taste buds seem to be changing.

There is a Play Doh play set on Amazon that costs $160.00. That's right people...$160.00 for Play Doh. That shit better be made of gold.

Random fact:
You must have heard the “London Bridge is falling down” nursery rhyme. Did you know that this rhyme might be over a thousand years old? The Saxons destroyed London Bridge using boats and ropes to tear it down. People think that is how the rhyme originated

When cats rub themselves against you ( or your furniture) they secrete some chemical which only cats can smell from tiny glands on their faces so as they rub themselves against you they are marking you as their own property rather than just being affectionate. that sounds like my Lilly to me :) Cats are amazing creatures.

Sometime in the few years since my first "girlfriend" (read: friend I "dated" for 9 months but never kissed) and I broke up, she and my best friend, who I was in love with for 3 years immediately prior to dating said girlfriend, hooked up. I have no particular emotions about it, but it's very weird; I never hooked up with my first girlfriend or my first love, but they hooked up with each other.

Oh, another random fact: I was about 2 feet away when said "girlfriend" had her first kiss, about a year after we broke up.

FACT: So far this year I have: fallen down the stairs, throwing my computer a few feet in the process; had an oven fire; had a toddler throw her head back into my nose so that it still, 2.5 days later, hurts when I touch it; and hit my head hard enough to get a headache that lasted a couple hours.

FACT: Despite everything listed above, so far 2012 is wonderful.

FACT: I feel like a giddy schoolgirl and quite like it.

I haven't played any MMOs since about June last year and didn't miss it too much, but for the last week or so I had this feeling... this... I don't know, but I REALLY want to play again. Thing is, there is nothing good out at the moment, but about three amazing games coming out in March/April. *sigh*

#1: Adam and I have been engaged for five years as of past weekend. The seventh, in fact.
#2: I can never remember what day it was, just that it was the day before my baby sister went back to Japan for the second half of her study abroad.
#3: I now know what day it was (for a little while, anyway) because my mom looked up the date on the photos.

I'm really good at converting between time zones; I do it subconsciously all the time. In California it's 11:14am, in Montana it's 12:14pm, in Pennsylvania it's 2:15pm, in England it's 7:15pm, and in Italy it's 8:15pm.

1)Felisa Wolfe-Simon, the woman with the controversial 'arsenic DNA' paper, is now saying her paper never claimed that arsenic was incorporated into the DNA, just into biomolecules in general.

2) This is my 400th post. And is appropriately geeky.

I hate April Fool's day. First I don't like any practical jokes. Second, when I was a kid my sister who is Epileptic had a seizure at school. She told the teacher that she was feeling wierd and dizzy but the teacher had already seen a parade of kids pretending to faint so she let her go to the bathroom alone. Then she was there way too long because the teacher ignored her.

I don't mind practical jokes when they are harmless and the other person is good natured about them, but there is something about April Fools Day that just makes people insane.

Case in point: My daughters best friend announced on Facebook that her Dad got a big job promotion and they were moving to Chicago at the end of the school year. My kid was hysterical ALL DAMN DAY! Not to mention it was my Mom's birthday, so emotions were already running high. Turns out that it was an April Fools joke by the kids Dad. Apparently, he had his whole family convinced.

Ok, not to be an asshole but it would totally serve that asshole right if his wife or kids had done something you can't take back like quit her job or bought a fancy car.

I am trying to rewrite these reports at work. I had them basically all done and then the user wanted to be able to sort the columns. And then my boss said shouldn't they use SQL Reporting Services instead of query grids. So I've been exhausting my brain trying to make various things work and here's what I think:

If I just do dynamic html tables (dynamic both horizontally and vertically) I can make them fully dynamic, unlimited and flexible # of columns, formatted however, totals, % columns, multi-level headers. But no sorting. Also, that's nearly already complete.

If I do grid views, they are much less dynamic. I think I can still do a set number of columns that can change values but no multi-level headers. Sorting but once you sort the totals will not work the 2nd or beyond time. Or the multi-level headers will only work once.

SQL reporting services - I don't think I can make work at all. Blech. Or if I do it will take thousands and thousands of lines of SQL code.
