It's a Brazilian poet named Alphonsus de Guimaraens.
Here's the begining of "A Catedral" (The Cathedral):

E o sino canta em lúgubres responsos:

In English:

Certainly for some people money and materialism is all Christmas is about, for others it's a meaningful religious holiday, and for many it's a day to celebrate and spend time with loved ones.

Do you think presents are an important part of holidays (like Christmas, Hannukah, birthdays, etc.)?

Yes, a vital part.

What will be your Christmas feast?

I have no idea. I'll be at the in-laws. I'll make what I'm told to make and eat what I'm told to eat and feed the kids some food they'll be willing to eat. I do what I'm told at Christmas.

Academic stuff, for my birthday my mom decided to get me things like a digital dictaphone to record my lectures, i was not impressed not really a good present.

this year it will be the fact that this is the first christmas without my pappy. him and my mommom came up from kentucky and stay with us. now he is gone and she isn't coming =/

By boat, and that's only because I can't stand flying over water. I don't get airsick or seasick but I get severely car sick so boat is the best option for me.
