She'd prefer frogs....

Postby thebardgirl » Sat Nov 22, 2003 12:32 am

Hey kittens! I'm sitting here, and enjoying the replies an' all...and just had some free time, so i wrote this up for you! So, i guess right now i'll reply to you then, and then boom! update...Oh! the Tara-sketch...well, unfortunately i have no access to a skanner until monday, so you'll have to bear with me....and i must warn you, i haven't sat down to sketch in a while, so it may not be 'wow' to you....we'll see...

snuggle79-Hi! thanks, i wanted to bring Bob back because he was so much fun to have at first...to bring him back was almost a neccesity...and yes, Anya's pieved now...but um...she'll get revenge...yes, you think positive, you do that...umm how will Tara do in the interview? i don't know...that's still up in the air...thanks dude!

sam darls- yeah, i'm crazy like that with all the wordiness...no prob, no prob. i hope to get that sketch visible soon too...and i'm glad you liked the update...only you may not like this one....its not angsty...just....well, you'll see.

allykat-cool! yes, Anya's evil....gotta stop making her so evil...gotta give her a weakness of some sort...hmm...we'll see...

Arwen276-thankyou! i was hoping some one would get the 'smackdown' ness...cause...seriously...i couldn't stop thinking of WWF: Willow Wacking Federation.....seriously now...and yes, that's Bob...i love Bob...he's my fav. character at this point, and i don't know if i'll bring him back...its just fun to have some one that has no point and make them have a point....thanks!

LostWithoutTara-yes...black market bunnies...i'm sure there is one too....yes, i'm glad you liked Bob as well...yes, the interview...hmmm *looks at update*...you'll see...

sabina-yes! i did! cause i was all with the updatiness...yes, yes, i see you are here on time, although i can only say that it was never a problem for me, late or early if you replied, as long as you liked the story. Yes, my Anya is a bit more uh...mean i guess....yes! this blond is a lot bolder than you first take her for....she just needs the inspiration to be so...i hope she gets it....oh thanks for the balloons! my knee's a lot better, however i still can not go up and down stairs without limping and holding onto a rail. it sucks being 67 at the age of 17....

singgirl-hee...i know...i'm excited too...cause i love having such a rotten character in my fic...its been a while since i've had one...

Tempest Duer-hee, glad you like Bob. i think before the end of this fic, we'll have a Bob fan club...hmm...Tara and Anya...this shouldn't be such a bad interview, right? oh thanks, i'm glad you wanna see my sketchy ness...however, like i said earlier, it will take time to get it up on the internet...

WintersDreamer-no, she hasn't pissed Willow off--yet. Oh dear, you're already grrring? this can't be good, how's about you don't read this update? hmm? i'd prefer it if you'll get really grrery at me....*hides from grrs* well, you wanna read it, read it, but at your OWN descretion, because this is a LGR-17 fic now..."Lotsa Grr's due to a 17 year old..."

The Rose24-Yup. Anya's here and won't go away....i hope Tara will do okay too...

okay, update!

Chapter 31

“Tell me, Ta-ra, how long have you been working here?”

“Over three months,” Tara was already uneasy from the way Anya said her name. It was like she stretched the first half purposefully to mock her. No. Not ‘like’. It was mockery. The last time some one her age had talked to her in this manner was high school. And Tara really, really hated her high school experience.

“Oh, a recent addition to the workforce, Willow?” Anya said turning to Willow’s pre-set face of stone. If she had attempted to pretend a smile, most likely it would’ve found its way into a frown. So she stayed motionless, and quiet. The less she argued, the faster this interrogation would go. What was tearing her up the most inside though, was she was the cause of this attack.

“Yes, Willow hired me after I decided to switch careers.” Anya’s head swiveled back to the once quiet-looking blond. She hadn’t expected the person to talk to her so easily. Didn’t she stutter a few sentences back?

“Oh, what career did you have prior?” Anya asked inquisitively. She leaned onto the side of Tara’s desk to stare directly into the blonde’s blue eyes, causing Tara to squirm further; Tara didn’t know how to answer this question without sounding unqualified for this job. Her brow went into furrow motions as she tried to think up a good enough answer that at the same time wasn’t a complete lie. Willow’s protective voice pulled her out from her thoughts.

“She was working--” she wasn’t going to let this previously annoying interview turn into a full-blown attack on her lover. She’d kick the woman out of her company, literally, before any more slants were thrown Tara’s way. Or prying. Prying was unnecessary.

“Mrs. Rosenberg, I do believe I was addressing Mrs. MacClay here,” Anya stated with a tinge of indignation.

“I was originally in social services, helping people, serving the community,” Tara said a bit firmly to regain the attention back on her. If Willow wasn’t careful, this Anya Jenkins would be angry, and Tara could see she wasn’t the type you wanted to anger. Worse punishment would come as a result.

“Social services?”

“Yes.”

Tara prayed that this would be enough to satisfy the overbearing woman. Luckily, it seemed so, for Anya folded up her pad and brought out a new folder from her briefcase.

“Are you good friends with Mrs. Rosenberg?” Anya said shuffling through papers trying to pick out a form she had been searching for, while asking as off-had as possible.

“Yes.”

Anya kept fussing with the papers, but then slightly leaned in as if this were a ‘girl talk’ session. However, Tara seemed repulsed by the woman’s face so close and thus leant back to regain the lost space.

“How good?” Last time she bagged the best friend, how good was this one?

“You don’t have to answer that, Tara,” Willow said angrily. It wasn’t enough that she had to stick her nose into her work life, but now her personal as well?

“Mrs. Rosenberg, if you can not be respectful of my inspection, I may have to ask you to leave,” Anya said turning back to the fuming redhead.

“I have a right to watch you interrogating my staff,” Willow said through clenched teeth.

“Mrs. Rosenberg the only reason why you are here is due to my permission,” Anya said smiling, waiting for Willow’s next response.

“What are you talking about? This is my building, my employee, and my time that you’re wasting,” Willow said taking on a color similar to that of her hair. “She can’t separate us, that’s wasn’t part of the agreement. She can’t separate us.”

“With your approval of this interview, Mrs. Rosenberg, you automatically agreed to let me have full access to any employee I so wished to question, your presence is not needed. In fact, most interviews are done without the Head Directors, or Presidents present due to the intimidation you might cause,” Anya said smirking, she was fingering a piece of paper, just itching to draw it out for Willow to see. “INTIMIDATION?”

“There is no law against my presence being here; you never spoke of it when I gave you permission,” Willow said trying to control her anger.

“Actually there is,” Anya said pulling out that paper which looked like a contract filled with rules and regulations. One specific sentence fragment was highlighted, just for Willow, which read, ‘…may be removed if so desired by the Prime Inspector…’

“You see, I didn’t enlighten you of this particular rule before because I didn’t see the need to,” Anya said waiting for every anger twitch she could pull out of Willow to appear, “your recent impetuousness has caused me to believe this interview will not be under the best conditions possible.” Tara saw where this was heading, but stayed still, if she showed emotion for Willow, Anya would be clued into their mutual relationship. It was killing her not to explode as Willow was visibly doing right now.

“It is a shame that it comes to this, but I must ask you to leave now, for the good of the interview,” Anya said, almost disapprovingly. Willow didn’t say a word. Her jaw clenched, her eyes glared and her knuckles were turning white from the pressure on her fingers from her palms.

Anya turned her back again, not waiting for Willow’s departure.

“Now, Tara, in your own words, what do you think of your work conditions?” Tara said nothing, she just kept staring silently at Willow, who had not moved an inch. Anya saw the distraction and said in a firm voice, “You’re still here?”

“Willow, its okay, you can go, I’m okay,” Tara reassured the redhead.

Willow said nothing, gave Tara one last look and turned away to leave, when she heard the voice of Anya again call to her.

“Be sure to make that file on the companies outputs and inputs for the next visit, Mrs. Rosenberg. And maybe, you could try to be a bit more polite next time as well.”

Willow stopped walking for a moment and then proceeded to walk forward, not looking back.

“Now, where were we?”

Hee...I'm startin' to love writing this characterization of Anya...although i must admit, it doesn't sound like our Anya..more or less of a bitchy woman....but Anya's reputation and the way she can look fiercly got me to use her as this woman....but thanks for the kind words....i hope to get the sketchy up soon too...

Ah, sorry, I'll get back to topic now :blush

I loved your update :applause

Your Anya is simply the most annoying, irritating person that I have read about, and it is hilarious to see her interaction with everyone :lol

And now she has Tara alone with her... I'm curious to see what will happen next :bounce

Update soon? :pray :pray

Your Anya is definitely irritating. Despite the fact that she's a bit out of character, I think she's a good addition to the story... of course, the Anya we know and love is more tactless than bitchy, but hey, it's all good. Can't wait for more. Okay, well I can, since obviously I'm not going to be able to stop waiting until it's posted, but I'm hoping that saying this, which is really a colloquialism anyway, will get you to update faster, and dude, look at that sentence! This board must be rubbing off on me, I'm starting to babble like Willow!

Hey kittens! i'm unupdated, i know, but i have replies and also, this sketch of mine i'm trying to get up here on this thread....i hope it works *crosses fingers* if not i also got in saved in the same link for my yahoo photos mentioned earlier....so...replies!

allykat- i know, i know...the double whammy....thanks, i'm really enjoying writing this part of the fanfic...so i might be quicker at updating these days...who knows....

LostWithoutTara-yup, that she is! thankyou, i will try to comply to your wish.....

sabina-hey! yup...i might just say its for you forever now...cause its cool...and efficient an' all...very good, very good...although i never remember what chapter i'm posting when replying on the update thread....ah well...the readers of my fic will get it....thanks, i'm glad you liked it! yes, anya is evil in this fic....true blue evil....its grand to write her! will try to update! *salutes*

Tempest Duer- Yes, she is aweful, i'll admit...and i know i don't imitate her voice very well, but that's partly because the character is different, and calls for a much stronger, meaner voice...not quite so lovable-blatant....colloquialism now? you tryin' to get all scary on me with the big words? well then i have one for you: supercalifragilisticexpialidosious.... what now, suckah?? sorry...that was uncalled for....and dude, check out that sentence! you're making me laugh now...

The Rose24-Oooo, some one's got a good idea of Tara's character....good good, you're a fine reader and know your tara well...

bluewillowwitch-yo grace, yes, anya is nearing the 'let's kill her' stage of life....yup, tara is in the dog house, er, i guess bitch house....huh...okay...well i will try to update, i promise, but for now, i leave you with a pic!

sam darls-thanks sammi, i appreciate it, whoo...*sings little rascle's song* i got a rose...i got a rose...i got a rose hey-hey, hey-hey

Yellow Crayon-Thankyou! i love crazy fics where it does leap off the scary side of non-romance between w/t too...so, i'm sorry for not supplying the smoochies for a while...i will try to get an update soon again to keep the story going and not get dull for you kittens...

snuggle79-hey! yes....anya's insane....really insane....yeah willow is going gaga as well...i wonder what questions will be asked too; i haven't written it yet..*snicker*...

okay i hope to bob that this will come out.....if not, i'm suing the computer....and i can...i have power of attourney...somewhere...*looks for attourney power* i know i left it her somewhere....

NOTE: so, yeah...that's the tara-sketch i did. ummm....i kinda did this a little too quickly for my own good...so if it looks a lil' uh, sketchy, meaning scruffy and non-tara like, i give you permission to bop me over the head, that is fine...cause, its been a while since i've sketched for fun....but! i do plan to do better in the future...that is if i can find pictures i like....(i'm very picky with 'em)

thanks for reading and replying, and hopefully judging the artistic piece put before you, i hope you like...if not, i say moo to you!:moo

Worse though she's a bitchy woman who's on a power trip. For some reason she thinks that the fact that she's lady high muckety-muck means she can treat everyone else like dirt. I am so looking forward to seeing her being put in her place.

hey kittens!! Just saying, this title is an insult i got to say in As You Like It, while trying to get the girl who fell in love with my character in drag, to back off. Don't you just love Shakespeare?

willowsgirl-oh good, thank Bob...i've been trying to get things to work for me computer-wise for sooooo long. It's sad. Oh, hey, you likah my drawing? Well, that's just fab. More? Uh, well i could make another, if you want, perhaps one of Willow? well, i don't know, time is always fleeting, but it doesn't take me that long to make one. Thanks for the sweet words.

WintersDreamer-Yes, i'm good at warning. Excellent...no grrs for me. Although...umm....this next update...i'm gonna have to warn you again for this chapter, cause...well....it's somewhat grry...watch out! Yes, i think anya's got something up her sleeve....wait though, i'm sorry but i'm misunderstand the "Tara creative resume adaption"...whatdya mean?

Ooooo Mary Fahl= October Prodject...interesting...i'll look up on that...hope you enjoy the update without too many grrs..

sam darls-thanks, i appreciate it! amazing? huh, cool.

snuggle79- whoo, i'm getting good feedback for a lil' sketch, i should just go all out and have a thread for my sketches....course, most aren't of willow and tara, mostly animals and wildlife, and one dana scully one...interesting.

intricate mirage-hey! Oh yes, Anya's a pain....serious pain....and she gets worse....Tara pulling through, eh? Well....we'll see....hope you like this update...and thanks for liking mah sketch too Cassie!

LostWithoutTara-wow....i like this, i'm sketching more often for people....its a good thing....

allykat-wowzers...this is like the 5th time someone's said such cool words...hmmm i needa get me pad and write all these compliments down, they're so heart-warming.

Doppleganger5x5-:D , i got bananas!! whoo

bluewillowwitch-Grace, thanks, dude....ah yes, What will happen to the dynamic due when all Anya-Hell breaks loose? guess you'll just have to read and find out...

justin-ah! you see? you read what i write at the end of updates, and they do have a point and are valuable comments. i'm glad you understand what i'm saying. I'm not imitating Anya's voice really, but i'm using that character for my needs. Its true, she is lady high muckety-muck...okay that's just a cool title...i wanna be called Lady High Muckety-Muck!!! Hmm, put in her place, eh? Good idea...but who will be the one to do it? thanks, i hope you like the update!

update! and.... WARNING, WARNING...this is (as i've said to WintersDreamer) an LG's-17: lotsa grrs because of a seventeen year old...so watch out now...i'm admitting this isn't a pretty update...especially for tara-lovers...hmm...that's all of us, isn't it? well, damn.

Chapter 32

It’s so difficult to find good help these days. It’s incredibly hard to understand why a person wouldn’t want to make your life just a little easier. A little compassion here, a little sympathy there and you have a much better world already. An efficient world, a world that could lead the human species into a new dimension of happiness, prosperity and of course, wealth.

But no.

Humans must make everything difficult, complicated; the mind of a man has always been the obstruction in progression when you think about it. Revolutions occurred only on the final decision by the populace after years of “I don’t know…” and “maybe next year…” Cogito ergo sum was originally, “I think, I think, and I believe that’s why I am, but I’m not really sure about it.”

Wussies.

Has humanity lost all spunk? All gusto?

Thank God for the Industrial Revolution, at least machines made things go a little faster. It’s true poverty, overpopulation, and resource depletion ensued, but that was only because of the inefficiency of the 1800’s.

It all comes back to humans and their unwillingness to help the situation they’re stuck in. Stubborn, that’s the word. They’re all stubborn. For instance: for two hours I’ve been talking to this employee of Willow’s and nothing, nothing that suggests bad work conditions, anger towards management, low pay, long hours, or abuse to the workers. Nothing! If she wants me to help her, she should be more complacent to my offerings. I suggest things here and there; drop in words that have been proven to psychologically link to other words such as abuse or mistreatment, and still nothing!

Either I’m talking to a wall or she is just as stubborn as the rest of them.

“Have you ever found yourself in a position of discrimination here at WAMK?”

“No.”

If she would just say anything beyond yes or no, that at least would be something to chew on.

“Do you find yourself experiencing stress in this environment?”

“No.”

It would make things go so much faster, I could send in a complaint, have something to bring back to the boss, perhaps get a raise…

“Have you ever felt obligated to fraternize with the staff against your will?”

“No.”

Perhaps she has a weakness? She seems almost impenetrable though. Impossible to get under. What is the key?

“Is this company working at it’s personal best in your opinion?”

“Yes.”

Something, or perhaps someone?

“Do you like the people you work with?”

“Oh, yes.”

Oh?

“Oh?”

“That is to say, I appreciate my fellow workers, and Willo—Mrs. Rosenberg—very much,” Tara said hurriedly.

“Tell, me, Ta-ra, exactly, how do you know Mrs. Rosenberg? I’m still a little unclear on your relationship with her.”

“We’re very good friends,” Tara said lightly.

“Where from?”

“We’ve been friends since she hired me.”

“Willow hired you as…” Anya pulled out another form tucked away originally in her folder, “…a personal assistant.”

Tell me, Ta-ra, why, if you were friends from her hiring you, would she take in a stranger as her personal assistant?”

“We knew each other before she hired me.”

“Ah, you didn’t say that.”

“Pardon me, I misspoke.” Tara said through gritted teeth.

“Hmm…I see this company has difficulties with speaking, look at Buffy for one. That girl can barely get a word through correctly. And don’t get me started on that Rob guy,” Anya said lightly laughing.

“Bob.”

“Hmm?”

“His name is Bob.”

“Oh yes, yes, that’s what I meant.”

“Do you have anymore questions Mrs. Jenkins? I do have things to attend to.” Please, please let me go.

“I believe I have all the information I need for now…” Anya said fading off; this interview was a complete failure. Willow just happened to get a smart friend this time. And a good worker as well. If only she knew what could push this girl to the edge…

“I’ll inform Willow of my report on you within the week, besides that, this interview is finished, thank you for your time and patience.” This interview’s results did not match up with Anya’s visual evidence. How is that this mysterious girl that Willow has paid so much attention to, waltzes in with, and then disappears from the scene, can have nothing dirty on her record?

“You’re welcome.”

“Perhaps they played hookie before I came into the building and Buffy alerted them of my entry? Where were they, though?” Anya thought to herself while mulling through her files. She’d get to the bottom of this soon enough.

“So did you and Willow enjoy your time off?” Anya asked off-handedly.

“Yes, Mendocino was beautiful.” Tara stared.

Anya looked up, surprised, and inquisitive. A sick smile crept onto her face.

“You were on vacation? Together?”

Gotcha.

“No! No, we, I went with her, quickly, to pick up some documents from a c-computer software seminar taking place in Mendocino, so we went together.”

“A seminar in Mendocino? The small seaside town?”

“Mrs. J-J-Jenkins, I r-r-really h-h-have to be g-g-going soon,” Tara said grabbing her bag.

Oh what a sweet sound stuttering can be.

“I understand, Ms. MacClay,” Anya said smiling contentedly.

“T-t-thank you,” Tara said getting up to leave.

“You know, Tara, just between us girls,” Anya said standing up, walking closer to Tara, “Willow is quite the woman, I should know, I mean, what with our history together…but she’s not one to invest a lot of time into; she’s fickle with what she wants, sometimes she wants the leanest beef,” Anya said with her hand fluttering up to the ceiling, “and sometimes, “ Anya said looking down at Tara, “she’ll go for the rump roast.”

Tara’s jaw clenched.

“But, it’s good that you’re selling when you can too, I mean, some women are not for all markets, if you get my drift?”

“Y-y-yes.”

"I’ll see you around Ta-ra…” Anya said, slowly drifting back.

Tara stood stock-still; her bag fell meaningless next to her desk where it originally was placed.

Anya walked away happily; “Like a moth to a flame.”

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it, Happy Boxing Day to the Brits, and happy wintery-holidays all included to everyone else. This time of year is great for many reasons; good food, general anticipation for the holidays...and the fixation for a new grand year (and of course angsty fanfic from yours truly) thanks for reading, and thanks for the kind words for that lil' sketch of mine, that's pretty cool of you.

Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see my own precious jewel sat smiling by me.

And when I awakened I found it not so; my eyes like some fountain with tears overflowed.
