CC and NB have a new movie for ABC

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Terry Bradshaw, Christopher Gorham and former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" cast members Charisma Carpenter and Nicholas Brendon will star in the ABC Family cable TV movie "Relative Chaos."

The movie centers on a family reunion that takes sibling rivalry to a new level. Every year, Will Gilbert (Bradshaw) holds a weeklong competition among his kids -- Dil (Gorham), Gil (Brendon) and Lil (Jenn Robertson) -- where the winner takes home the family trophy, the Gilbert Cup.

Never victorious, Dil doesn't want to participate this time, but his new girlfriend (Carpenter), a highly driven business consultant, has vowed that this will be Dil's year -- even if it kills him.

Principal photography begins this month in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with the movie slated to premiere on the cable network in September.

In addition to WB/UPN's "Buffy," Brendon's credits include Fox's "Kitchen Confidential" and Sci Fi Channel's upcoming "Alien Fire." Carpenter has been appearing on UPN's "Veronica Mars." She also starred in WB's "Buffy" spinoff "Angel."

Gorham's credits include CBS' "Out of Practice," UPN's "Jake 2.0" and WB Network's "Felicity."

Bradshaw, a former NFL star and now a football analyst for Fox, appeared in the feature film "Failure to Launch" and voiced a role in the film "Robots."

I see that Alyson has been talking about a Buffy movie in her Teen Television interview.

TeenTelevision: Okay, the question everybody asks you. Will there ever be a “Buffy” movie?

Alyson: I don’t know. I don’t know what they would do with my character. The last episode kind of wrapped her up but we’re all friends and I love the show so never say never.

TeenTelevision: There was talk that there might be a spin-off ‘Buffy’ movie about Willow. Did anybody talk to you about that?

Alyson: I’ve heard so many rumors and when he [Joss Whedon] talked to me it was going to be Spike and it’s always up in the air but it’s never been a serious conversation.

TeenTelevision: Would you do it at this point?

Alyson: I don’t know. I’d absolutely do it if Joss were involved but he’s so busy. Wonder Woman is going to take up a lot of his time. I wouldn’t want it to be thrown off and ‘oh, this guy you’ve never met is gonna do it’. If it were Joss directing and writing, absolutely but is Joss gonna write and direct it? No.

TeenTelevision: The fans are still out there for it. Would you want to do a ‘Buffy’ film for them?

Alyson: Yeah. It’s amazing and wonderful. The longer that we’re away from it and people still care, sort of makes me more scared about returning to it because I would hate to mess it up. Like ‘oh, hey, it’s been seven years, we’re going do ‘Buffy’. ‘Oh, Joss, sorry but I just totally ruined Willow, sorry’. She’s more and more cherished as time goes on. The more she’s a memory, the harder it would be to bring her back I think.

It doesn't exactly sound as if she's desperately waiting for a spin-off movie. In fact she sounds positively relieved that it's unlikely to happen.

I don't know, she seemed to be pretty supportive of Josswad and it sounds like if he was definitely the one doing a Buffy spinoff and asked her that she'd do it. She didn't seem so equivocative to me. Actually, my take on the between the lines would be that Josswad was involved hardly at all in season sux and severed and that is what she feels was wrong with the show then. Which would put more of the horrible onus on Ms. Noxious and the other writers. And Josswad for not being there, but still. Of course she could just be being diplomatic as well. However, we really haven't heard anyone, especially Emma Caufield, unload on Josswad or the show since its end and I would have expected something.

Anyway, that interview with Aly was nice and she seems to be doing well.

For those interested, J. August Richards (Gunn in "Angel") had a featured role in the most recent episode of "The 4400". :)

I'm happy that Richards is getting work after Dick Wolf's NBC show Conviction got canceled. He was very good in it, and the show was never really given a chance to take off. (The fact that it initially sucked donkey turds didn't help).
Good for Richards. He's a talented guy.

I'm glad amber got a role in supernatural - would be great if it is recurring - though I'm kind of wondering how i will react seeing her play a vampire

For those interested, Morena Baccarin (the "Paid Companion" from "Firefly") has been cast as Adria, the adult version of Vala's (played by the luscious Claudia Black :drool ) daughter on Stargate SG-1.

Since she plays the "Orisai", it is likely that the role is recurring and that she will re-appear more than once. :-)

SMG sure is busy - and DB is back tonight in BONES

By Nicole Sperling

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hoping to continue her winning streak in the genre business, Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed to star in the Hitchcockian thriller "Addicted."

The independently financed project centers on a woman whose husband and brother-in-law both end up in a coma after an accident. When the brother awakes, claiming to be her husband, she must try to understand the reality, suspecting something more sinister is at work.

The story is based on the 2002 South Korean film "Jungdok." Swedish filmmakers Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist will direct. The film is set for an October start.

Gellar, former star of the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," will be in theaters October 13 with "The Grudge 2" and then November 10 with the supernatural thriller "The Return." She recently wrapped production on "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing."

FYI - from media week - bones opened well

Bones opened season two with a respectable, albeit non-spectacular, 6.7/11 in the overnights (#1), 8.43 million viewers (#1) and a 2.6/ 9 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 8 p.m. The series-premiere of legal drama Justice followed with a compatible 6.6/10 in the overnights (#1), 8.91 million viewers (#2) and a 2.9/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#1) at 9 p.m. Although an expanded Wednesday edition of ABC's 20/20 (Last Days on Earth With Elizabeth Vargas) was the only original entry competing with Justice, growth out of Bones of 480,000 viewers and 12 percent among adults 18-49 (and minimal audience erosion at 9:30 p.m.) means that Justice was amply sampled. Let's wait and see what happens once the official start of the season kicks in.

Hello Kittens-

And every project she takes puts her further away from her TV days. Interesting she's doing another Asian movie based film.

Some folks never learn:
http://www.cinematical.com/2006/09/07/charisma-carpenter-still-wants-wonder-woman/
But fear not, oh fans of Carpenter -- the lady refuses to give up and still hopes for a reunion with Whedon. In yet another interview with TV Guide, Carpenter responded to a Wonder Woman question by stating she is "working on it," and went on to say "I'm dying to kick butt as Wonder Woman. Itching to kick butt! In my last year of Angel, I was really pregnant and I couldn't do any butt-kicking, so I would really like this opportunity to work with Joss and take it to a new level."

I wonder if she realizes that after Josswad fired her on Angel, he would never pick her to star in one of his projects. Prolly not.

For those interested, Julie Benz has a featured part (the girlfriend) in the strange new Showtime series "Dexter".

Edited to add: and as if that wasn't enough, Rudolf Martin (Dracula from the 1st ep of Season 5) also put in appearance as one of the villains.

Whoopeee! I just saw the delightful Dr. Who episode "School Reunion" with Anthony Stewart Head as a deliciously eeeeeeeeevil alien headmaster of an English high school. He looked really different and sinister with his hair all slicked back.:)

Last night's (Thurs, 11/1) episode of "Bones" featured Kali Rocha in an important part. This successful series (it's on its 2nd season) also stars "Buffy/Angel" alum David Boreanaz. :)

Thanks Hemiola! Like many Kittens, haven't watched either so drew a complete blank but really he was barely in Buffy in any case. It's been so long that I've really forgotten that show. Checked IMDB and he was also in "Saving Private Ryan" so I checked out that bit of my DVD but that was not one of his better performances (or at least I hope not) as he really over plays and chews the scenery.

DB's got a "sleeper success"

from media week

Beginning with 8 p.m., sleeper success Bones on Fox remained just that, with a dominant 7.2 rating/12 share in the overnights. With Idol at 9 p.m., the potential pre-tune-in factor lifted Bones to a 7.7/12 at 8:30 p.m. (6.7/11 to 7.2/12).

Bunch of stuff, but will post where needed.

James Marsters and the big dumb guy from Firefly (Adam Baldwin) are going to be in the new "Death of Superman" DTV animated movie by Bruce Timm and Co playing Lex Luthor and Superman respectively.

Not set in the BTAS-STAS-JL-JLU universe it plays out the 1993 "Death of Superman" comic story.

I have heard Baldwin's Superman, I gotta admit it is not bad.

zap2its tvgal is pushing for amber to be back on the small screen

Put Them on a Show

As if to prove my point that TV is a fickle business, moments after I had I written my column last week, Merrin Dungey was replaced by Audra MacDonald on "Private Practice." We'll get to see Scott Patterson (Luke on "Gilmore Girls") again very soon. He'll now play the dad on the new CW comedy "Aliens in America" (which I think has real potential). And (whoo-hoo) Stephanie Niznik, Nina on "Everwood," joins the cast of The CW's "Life Is Wild." Dana Delany and Nathan Fillion will move into Wisteria Lane next season. All of this means our recommendations could be heard.

Last week I asked you who you think should be back on TV and here are your most popular picks.

John Schneider: Oh, you so miss him like crazy on "Smallville." Serena, Gina, Leann, and Carrie don't really care about what show he ends up on, they just want him back on TV now.

Tiffani Thiessen: Nick is hoping that the rumors of our Tiff, last seen stirring up trouble on "What About Brian," being admitted to "Grey's Anatomy" are true.

James Marsters: Maggie will take either a blonde or a brunette Spike back on TV. Good news: Marsters pops up as a guest star in the new TNT show "Saving Grace" which premieres on Monday, July 23. Jennifer thinks he could pop up as a love interest for Brennan on "Bones" thus recreating a little love rivalry between Marsters and David Boreanaz.

Amber Benson: Keeping up the Buffy love, you would love to see Tara back on the small screen. Dana thinks she would be a perfect fit for "The L Word" or to go back on "Supernatural," where she popped up on as a guest star this season.

David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc: Jacki envisions the former "Friends" in a "My Two Dads" meets "The Odd Couple" sitcom where three windowed dads meet in a support group and decide to move in together with their kids. Jacki, I like it! Scott thinks Schwimmer would fit right in with the wackiness of "Boston Legal."

Paula Malcomson: Myke would love to see Trixie on "Deadwood" and Meg on "ER" as a cop on "Law & Order."

Neal McDonough: Lori would love to see the "Boomtown" favorite back on TV. She just has one warning for him: Stay away from NBC.

Autumn Reeser: Lindsey believes Reeser made the final season of "The O.C." worth watching. And I have to agree.

Laura Leighton: Anthony thinks that Leighton, best known as Sidney on "Melrose Place," had great guest stints last season on "Boston Legal," "CSI: Miami," "Shark," "Law & Order: SVU." He would love to see her on "Grey's Anatomy" or "Nip/Tuck" next season.

From our mouths to network executive ears, let's get these guys back on TV. I mean if ABC can actually bring back "The Nine" and air the previously unaired episodes, I'm beginning to think anything is possible.

As I said in the "Supernatural" thread, AB as Lenore would be terrific as a regular and/or continuing character on that show. She would make a wonderful ally for the boys as a "good" vampire. ;-)

given this is an older skewing show - I'm wondering if JM's fans will follow him to it?

from media week

James Marsters Heads to Without a Trace:
Former Buffy, the Vampire Slayer/Angel star James Marsters will appear on CBS' veteran Without a Trace in the recurring role of a new detective. After a one season stint on Sunday, Without a Trace is back in its original home: Thursday at 10 p.m. out of CSI.
