DW - Well, probably the most telling thing about this story is that I added the Fraggle Rock S1 DVDs to my queue. Really, you can ask Sally or Car about it. We'll see when I rent them because I'm not sure they're that exciting for working out but maybe Asher and I can watch them together one day...

Anyway, I love this story as the starter. It's just so adorable. They're filled with angst but so honest too. I love the idea of Willow and Tara as fraggles. Great job and welcome to the group. And definitely thanks for mixing the song and making me sound semi-decent.

I love the whole idea for these stories. Love the theme song, especially the "Oh yes" at the end.

I never watched Fraggle Rock, but it was a cute story.

Now, I see one of the TV Guide excerpts..."Maclay's Seven." Being a big Blake's 7 fan back in the day, this made me chuckle. I take it WIllow would be in the "Avon" role. :party I always said Blake and Avon argued so much that they might as well have been a couple -- A Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name. ;-)

Given that I'm writing Trek W/T fics, I'm sorta an honorary WTTV writer already. Of course, were I to do some other TV show, I'd probably be writing a sitcom. And no, we're not talking one of the rare sitcoms that are the epitome of fine, intelligent writing. To me, our lovable pair just cry out for the silliest, slapstickiest, zaniest, wackiest series of misadventures that would make Three's Company look like Jonathan Swift. No, we don't want to go there. :shy

Looking forward to the next show!

I guess you could consider me a WTTV writer, too. Except that I haven't really written any. Star Witches could be considered WTTV material, if they bothered to put in commercials. Hey, they show movies on TV, too you know.

But its not like I haven't dabbled in writing TV W/T fics. I've actually written out a basic plotline for a Willow/Tara "Red Dwarf" uber that's sort of hit the iceberg a while back, but I haven't really abandoned the idea. I just gotta figure out a way to make it work. And those sorts of things take time.

And I gotta find it amusing that WTTV gets posted at almost the same time that I contemplate writing a Willow/Tara GI Joe uber.

My mind works in myserious ways...

Love it love it love it! It's a big call, but I'd venture to say that Willow and Tara have never been so huggable.

I admit, I only have vague memories of Fraggle Rock. I'm sure I watched it, but it was so long ago, and I haven't ever seen it repeated. Must check out the DVD stores and see whether it's affordable on my meagre budget.

Your story has the best possible quality of a 'children's story' - sincerity. On the surface it might seem like a Willow/Tara Fraggle Rock story would be simple and carefree, but I was really affected by the level of distress Willow experienced at the thought of no longer having her best friend Tara, and Tara when she realised Willow had run away. Poor Willow stuck at the Belching Boulder, with nothing to look forward to and no way to go back - her loneliness was so eloquent and moving. And her reunion with Tara was equally heartfelt, and much the sweeter for having come after such a moving separation. So, sincerity, y'know? All the feelings of real, adult people, but with all the distractions stripped away. When a Fraggle is lonely, she's really lonely - and when she's happy again, it's the sweetest thing in the world.

The comedic aspects were great too - Felix's fear of commitment, the World's Oldest Fraggle (and overenthusiastic assistant), the account of the Silly Creatures, and Doc and Sprocket. And the songs were lovely.

Now, I have to go and see if I can find any Fraggle Dolls to hug...

DW, in addition to a few lines of sparkling feedback I am about to produce, I also wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you put into this project. The theme song is awesome! You and the other Kitten Show collaborators are my heroes. [/swoon]

now....onto the sparkling praise.

One of the most vivid memories I have of my childhood is of watching Fraggle Rock with my grandma. I loved that show; the songs; the characters; the dog...but mostly I loved spending that time with my grandmother....

you were able to capture the spirit of the show I remember so well that it felt as if I were watching an actual episode instead of reading a story. I especially loved the bit when Willow came to Tara's and ran head first through the painting Tara was giving her as a gift. hehehe...that kind of physical comedy is soooo spot on.

I loved everything about this story. It was so sweet and well thought out. With Tara having to chose a complement and wanting to choose Willow but not thinking it would be possible...and then with Willow being hurt because she thinks Tara wouldn't chose her anyway and then running away. (that kind of snap decision making seemed to happen a lot in the actual show)

And I thought your back-and-forth between Sprocket and Doc was great! I could just see them together....it was really Fantastic. And that whole side story with the old girlfriend was entertaining as well.

Your songs were awesome and really fit the feel of the story. And traveling Matt with his unique take on human activities was funny.

I guess I could sit here and go over every single bit of everything I liked about this fic, but we'd be here all day and my fingers might cramp up...so I'll just end this now and say. EVERYTHING was superbly done and highly ingenious. You're a great writer (like we didn't already know that) and I'm so glad that you came aboard as a part of the team.

Wooo Hoooo for Fraggle Rock! Down in Fraggle ROCK!

DW, I'm one of those folks who have never seen Fraggle Rock, but I have to say that I think you've spoiled me for it forever. I wouldn't ever be able to watch an episode without seeing Willow and Tara Fraggle.

The writing and the story and the narrative was really tight. Not a wasted word, not an extraneous phrase. The bookending with Doc and Sprocket was lovely, the angst and the drama and the lesson learned was great, and the humor - ah, the humor! Like Emms, the vision I had of Willow with her head through the painting that Tara made for her was priceless. So cute.

Great job, and what a great start also!

So I also have never seen Fraggle Rock. But now I wish I had and that it was like this. Great episode. It was cute and fun but still worked the emotions. And the theme song absolutely rocks! Way to go!

Are you tired of watching your kids frollick and rapantly take over your home?

“Xander! The orgasm product is screaming and finger painting on the walls again - give it a time-out!”

“Anya, I’m tired from a long day at the construction site. Why don’t you do it?”

“Cos I have to count the shop money…over and over again.”

Wouldn’t it be better if they were quiet, chemically restrained, and needed little to no parenting? From the makers of Man-Be-Hard and Road Rage Liquid Gels, comes a product called Quitlin. Just three little pills a day will suck the life out of a rugrat better than any vampire.

“Where is my little precious today, Xander?”

“Listening to the wallpaper paste dry in remodeled bedroom, dear.”

Exercising and spending time with your children is for losers.

Need a better way to drain the energy?

Use Quitlin.

Possible side effects include: dry throat, headaches, upset stomach, lycanthropy, ringing in ears, hallucinations, permanent blindness, flashbacks to 16th century Ireland, runny nose, memory loss, unsexy dancing, muteness, desire to manage a Broadway show or sort socks by color, uncontrollable hunger, vomiting, swollen feet, unexplained brusing, explosive diahrrea, irritated eyes, sudden ability to speak in the vernacular of early 20th century England, loss of fingernails, sore throat, and possible spontaneous combustion. Do not allow children to eat, drink, stand, sit, lay down, or think for up to thirty minutes following a dose of Quitlin.

Cyd, what a hoot! Great lines in this commercial, and also quite a social commentary on the USA's tendency to medicate children at the drop of a hat. But mostly a hoot.

The "orgasm product" - LOL! And also "flashbacks to 18th century Ireland" - double LOL. Heh!

Road Rage Liquid Gels

Hee! That was my favorite part. Though I do wonder if they cure Road Rage, or cause it.

And I love how you had some of our Anya and Xander come through, with the shop money, and orgasm mention, and the remodeled bedroom, which I'm assuming Xander did himself.

Fun commercial, Cyd!

The nice thing about having the Kitten Show in black and white is that you can access it whenever you have the time, like Kitten Tivo it is.
From the glorious theme song to the top notch production values, this is one network that clearly knows how to please its demographic.
As to the first program broadcast on Saturday, "Fraggle Rock"; now there is a series that I haven't heard of in a long time, a loooooong time.
Like others who have commented before me, it took me back to the simple carefree halcyon days of my child hood as well.
The Willow and Tara episode illustrates what is missing from children's television today.
The bookend scenes with the Doc and Sprocket set the tone for the life lesson to be discussed that week and then it was illustrated through the use of song, parable, and much subtle and gentle humor, especially in Gobo's weekly postcards from his uncle Travelin' Matt.
In the Willow and Tara episode, it was the topic of friendship and listening to your heart.
Always act according to the dictates of your conscience and tradition be damned if it will make you unhappy.
It was a beautiful, simple, and loving lesson to be learned and told in such a happy and carefree way that it made me forget the rude hostility of the time we live in and made me yearn for a simpler time with my own grandmother.
The commercial which followed it tied in as well since kids today are far too over-stimulated and need a dose of something to make them more docile.
I can deny chicks in chainmail nothing.

DarkWiccan,

I know nothing of Fraggle Rock, so was forced to do some surfing.

I'm curious, are W and T based on Red - "the Enthusiast" and Mokey - "the Artist"? They sure seem to fit - the website I visited described Red as "Red Fraggle is the kind of Fraggle someone watches and then says, "Now there's a really energetic Fraggle who knows where she's going and what she wants to do.' And then, CRASH, Red runs right into a stalagmite" and Mokey (on her artistic nature) "Or she might be writing a song, or perhaps something more profound and observant such as, 'Red's hair is like a sunset in the Gorg's Garden.' " Hmm

Regardless - a welcome dose of simplicity and sweetness. Thank you for sharing.

I hate it when that happens. You'd think since they're little they wouldn't leave that big of a mess, but combine that with the explosive diarrhea and so much for your weekend escape to the Hamptons. Best to keep that crime scene cleanup crew on speed dial.

Very funny.

Better late than never, right? ... Right?

DW - Well, I only have the vaguest of memories of Fraggle Rock, because I never watched that much TV as a kid (which might be why I watch far too much these days). But I do remember that the inventor and his pooch book ended each episode, and I think they tended to give the obligatory moral.

I actually think that Sprocket was the standout for me in this silly little tale you've conjured (I know, heresy!), especially his heartfelt attempts to communicate through the medium of pantomime, and the resulting slap in his own face when that doesn't quite work as planned.

That being said, how can you not like the mental image of a fraggle version of Willow with her head stuck through her own portrait? :lol

The latest anecdote from Uncle Travelling Matt was a highlight. Hysterical! :lmao

“Tara, why did Willow run away?” Gobo asked.

“It’s all my fault! I treated her horribly. It’s so awful, I just have to…have to…”

“Have to what?” everyone asked.

“Have to sing about it!”

:rofl Oh, that is just perfect!

“Well, Felix the Fearless,” said the World’s Oldest Fraggle, “That leaves only you. Felix? Where’s Felix?”

“He ran back to his cave, sir,” said Gobo, “He said he just wasn’t ready for a commitment.”

:lmao Ah, I love that kind of ironic humor.

-----

Cyd : That is just ... ... too damn funny!

Bugger!

Oh bollocks to this, I give up.

The highlight was the list of potential side-effects (in suitably small font), but did anyone else notice the similarity between Quitlin and Ritalin?

Great job, Cyd!

-----

Cheers,
Paul.

Quitlin: :lmao

'Flashbacks to 16th Century Ireland' - for some reason, when that passes through my brain it comes out as weird medieval Nam hallucinations. I wouldn't be surprised if Xander and Anya's little orgasm products are found cringing behind a sofa, knuckles white as they grip their toy crossbows, muttering "Paddies in the trees, man... they're all around us..."
