Remember to Breathe
Chapter 7
The rest of the day went by as slow as an old man on a freeway. Willow just wanted to go to the library and sit and wait for Tara. But, she knew she couldn’t
Ninth period was almost over, but the forty minutes were far from quickly moving. Willow decided in order to pass the time, she would have to do something Tara-related.
So, she decided to write the blonde a letter. And two letters, three letters. Each was too intense or too emotional. Willow wanted just right, but couldn’t seem to find her ‘zone.’
“I’m throwing away the letters that I am writing you,
They would never do.
I would never do.”
But, Willow in fact was right. The class had ended and the bell rung. Tara-time.
~*~*~*~*~*
Willow got her books and went straight towards the library. She was intercepted a few times by random jocks and random questions.
But she finally made it. She entered the library with pure hope and joy. Her eyes were glistening and her palms were sweaty.
Soon after Willow had calmed down and taken a seat, Tara entered. She looked more beautiful than Willow had remembered for no more than two periods ago. Wow.
“Hey.” Tara smiled on entrance.
“Hey!” Willow shot up from her chair like a firecracker on the forth of July.
“So, what do you want to do?” Tara asked her as she approached her with mild strides.
“This.” Willow said as she leaned forward and gave Tara a huge hug and a gentle peck on the cheek.
“My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me,
So wont you kill me.
So I die happy.”
“And after that?” Tara asked coyly.
“That’s it, so you can go now.” Willow joked, half seriously.
“Okay. I’ll see you tomorrow then.” Tara stated simply as she turned and started walking away from Willow.
“No! I was kidding. What do you want to do?” Willow rushed up beside the blonde.
“Its raining.”
“So frolicking in the daisies is a no go? Damn.”
“I know! But I love rain.”
“Me too.” Willow smiled.
“You want to go for a walk?”
Tara in a wet shirt, Tara in a wet shirt. Tara in. A. Wet. Shirt. “Of course.”
~*~**~*~*~~**~*
They were at the front doors preparing to go into the rain and Tara stopped Willow.
“Here. I wrote you this during ninth. I was pretty antsy.”
“I know the feeling.” Willow said taking the note from Tara’s outstretched hand.
“Read it later. Kay?”
“Sure.” Willow said as she shoved the note into her back pocket.
The girls were in the rain, walking and talking. Willow actually, was talking the most. But Tara was in love with Willow’s voice so it all turned out okay.
“Breathe in for luck
Breathe in so deep
This air is blessed,
You share with me.”
“Where do you want to go?” Willow asked, as they were beginning to be almost covered in rain.
“Anywhere?” Tara stated simply.
“My house?”
“Wont your parents be mad that we’re all wet?”
Tara in a wet shirt. Tara in a wet shirt. Remove eyes. Shift sight. “They.. uh, they’re out of town. Business.”
“Then to Willow’s house we go.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Here we are.” Willow said as the two soaking girls entered her house.
“Very nice house.”
“Thank you.” Willow walked over to the mirror in the front hall. She jumped when she saw what was there. “Yikes. I look like a clown on acid.”
“No you don’t.” Tara said as she came up be hind Willow and wrapped her arms around the girl’s waist.
“Well you Miss Maclay are obviously blind.”
“Only blinded by your beauty.” Tara whispered behind Willow’s ear.
With that Willow turned gentle around in Tara’s arms. They were face- to- face and almost touching. “Tara?” Willow whispered closing her eyes.
“Yeah?”
“Can I kiss you?”
Tara smiled, “That depends.”
“On what?” Willow said, reopening her eyes.
“Can I kiss you back?”
Willow just smiled and brought her hand up to Tara’s cheeks. She gently rubbed the skin with her thumb and slowly brought her face closer.
Tara’s arms were wrapped loosely around the redhead’s waist. But, she quickly tightened her hold. Willow’s hands were cool when she placed her hands on Tara’s cheeks. She didn’t mind though, because Willow-hands were on Tara- cheeks.
Willow ducked her head a little bit and finally went in for the kiss. She let her lips linger on Tara’s for a few seconds, then pulled away. She looked into Tara’s eyes a saw a look she’d never seen before, but one she wanted to know well.
Willow again placed her lips to Tara’s but this time, a little bit harder. The two kissed, then pulled away, then kissed and pulled away. But Willow wanted more. She kissed Tara, dead on the lips and slowly took her tongue and started tracing along Tara’s lower lip then moving up. She was extatic when Tara’s lips opened and she was able to deepen the kiss. Willow tongue was wrapped around Tara’s and they were swirling. They were dueling, and no one was winning. Nobody wanted to win, they just liked the duel in itself.
Both Willow and Tara pulled back at the same time. Willow placed her forehead against Tara’s.
“Thank you.” Willow said.
Tara laughed. “Thank you.” She said placing a small peck to Willow’s lips then detangling herself from the other girl.
“I should go though. Its getting late.”
“I could drive you. If I didn’t leave the car at the school.” Willow sighed defeatedly. “If you want to wait here, I could go get it and then come back and take you home.”
“Or I could come with you.”
“That too.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The two got to the car and Willow opened Tara’s door for her. They drove in silence but Willow’s hand was on the shift and Tara’s was draped over her’s.
They got to Tara’s house and Willow felt it would be necessary. She got out of the car and opened Tara’s door for her. She took off her jacket and put it over Tara’s head, so she wouldn’t get anymore wet.
They reached the door in giggles. “Thank you, Willow.” She said giving Willow a chaste kiss on the lips.
“Anytime.” She smiled. “So, tomorrow. At school.”
“Yeah.”
“I want to see you as much as possible”
“Miss Rosenberg, I think that could be arranged.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“But your taste still lingers on my lips,
Like I just placed them upon yours
And I starve,
I starve for you.”
Willow got home with a smiled plastered to her face. She ran upstairs and fell on top of her bed. As she fell, she felt something in her back pocket.
Tara’s note.
Willow,
The past few days have been amazing. And I really love spending time with you. You’re the one person I don’t think I could ever get sick of.
I hope you feel the same about me. Because I don’t want to let you out of my sight.
And I know its soon, and I know we don’t know each other all that well. But, Will. I think I’m falling in love with you.
Love always and forever,
Tara.
“I’m reading your note over again,
And there’s not a word, that I comprehend
Except when you signed it, I’ll love you always
And forever.”
Willow smiled and placed the letter to her chest.
She’d call Buffy later.
