Willow's comment about Buffy taking one look at naked Tara and finding her inner lesbian was funny. liked how you described what was going thru Riley's mind as he was hiding out at Xander's. glad that Tara is finally telling Willow everything so that they can figure out what to do about Prof. Walsh

Poor Riley, I like this guy more and more in retrospect. He is truly confused. I hope him and Buffy don't make a premature move on Tara. And WIllow is completely adorable. Jealous, possessive, god I'd melt. But Tara's right, she still will have to protect Willow and that means, once outside that room they'll have to still pretend they are angry with each other. :(

BB :applause Excellent update as usual.

Never particularly cared for Riley, but you make him seem more human and caring.

Should be interesting to hear Tara's explanation of just why she did what she did, and I know Willow forgive her out of love.

Looking forward to the next part.

BB I loved the update. Your description of Riley was brilliant and dammit I actually like him now. Him and his plan. The Willow and Tara interaction was prefect (as always) but Tara is right nothing on the outside of the room has changed. Even though Tara is worried about Willow with Walsh and her evil plan, I think that I am really worried about Tara. Riley and Buffy are not a force to cross often.

Thank you for the update and I am looking forward to part B.

I love how you've made one of the simplest characters in the show into a fully complex personality here. Riley has depth. Who knew? :lol I'm loving the way you're writing him. It's as comforting as his gesture holding Buffy in bed. Nice work.

Hey BB:

So, Riley likes plans... who knew? ;) Seriously, I like how in depth you've gone into Riley's thinking process. He was basically Cpt Cardboard on the show and it's nice to see a third dimension with him.

And so far as nekkidness... I could get into that...

Hey BB--God, was I glad to see another update. I love this fic!

The scene in Willow's house, with both of them so gloriously nekkid, was simply wonderful. First of all, it was just delightful to read; secondly, there's an underlying poignancy to Willow's wish. Things are so complicated outside of those walls; how rare this moment is, not only by virtually of their spectacular love-making, but by it calm and simplicity. For this moment, they're just two women very much in love, enjoying the fruits (as it were) of that love. But soon reality will come a-knockin'...

I really enjoy your characterizations, BB. Looking forward to 28b.

Hello Kittens-

I love Willow's solution to the madness and danger waiting for them away from this safe shelter. Riley's thoughts are showing how much hurt has been done as Tara tried to protect everyone. Now Tara is doing the best thing that she can, but will the truth be in time for anyone but Willow?

I guess I'll have to wait for the next update. :)

Ohh.. I do hope we get to hear/read what Tara says. Much as we know what happened we don't know it all from Tara's point-of-view. Besides that I want to know Willow reactions during the story telling.

Back to Riley, yes he is truly likeable and human here. Planning is a GOOD thing, I so agree with that :) He's the next in line (after Willow) who has been really hurt/confused by Tara's actions. He doesn't like confused I think, can't say I blame him. Assuming Tara will be able to tell him/them her reasons, doesn't mean that all things will just return to normal once more. Life ain't that easy :(

Much as I understand why Tara did what she did, I still don't like it. Will take a lot longer before I'll fully trust her again, don't know exactly WHAT that would require it's just this nagging feeling of distrust/dislike... unreasonable as it may be.

Could be my protect-Willow attitude blinding me a bit I suppose:-) I adore possesive Willow, laying there in front of the fire, sooooo cute.

I just caught up on this fic and WOW, it's really intense and powerful! The emotions pouring from the story just blow me away.

*chuckles* I have to admit that I couldn't help turning into a giggling mush ball when Willow and Tara made love outside in the rain. I mean, it was SO intense and HOT... but I couldn't help but be reminded of chapter 15. As soon as I read: "Of course, Willow knew that their first time would be special no matter what the room looked like. They could be knee-deep in mud and surrounded by frogs, and making love with Tara would still be special, simply because it would be them, together, at last." I knew that Willow had jinxed herself. *bursts into giggles* So, I couldn't help but laugh and think 'well, at least there aren't any frogs' :lol

Keep up the good work! :grin

As someone who had sometimes been scornful of Riley and his "need to be needed" routine, it's strange for me to be sympathetic towards him. You have a wonderful way of describing credibly how each character thinks.

The scene with our girls was just delightful.

blameburner,

I've just caught up with this fic, and I'm blown away. Your carefully constructed use of words to describe the slow build of the character's emotions has been nothing short of inspired. I will wait patiently for every update, believe me.

The premise of Initiative-Tara is simple and compelling, helping us to rethink the Willow-Tara canon dynamic. Willow is now the shy and unsure one, while Tara attempts to do her duty and protect Willow simultaneously. These tasks are at cross-purposes, forcing Tara to some brave, rash and heart-breaking decisions.

I love Riley! There, I've said it and I'm glad. Yes, he's Captain Cardboard. Yet he represents those who are not exciting or dynamic - he's down-home cooking rather than Dom Perignon. How else would Buffy realize that she's attracted to the dangerous guys, no matter her protestations contrary. You write Riley the way ME may have intended, yet simply couldn't master.

Chapter 26 - I wept. Exquisitely measured angst and pathos for two characters who had seen and said too much, and nearly lost everything. Please give us more angst - you balance it so well with the story's flow.

I'm looking forward to your treatment of the tough times ahead for our couple. I think we are in safe hands. Brava!

hello, vacation!

Postby blameburner » Thu Mar 13, 2003 11:10 am

Hey all. I just wanted to give a big thanks to all of you who have replied with such wonderful comments. I really, really want to do some individual replies, and hopefully I'll have time to do that... eventually.

As it stands right now, the remaining half of Part 28 is still unfinished. I just haven't had the time. At the moment I'm scrambling to get school work done before Spring Break starts tomorrow. Since I'm actually taking a vacation this year (yes, I'm one of those insane people who generally stays home during break to get work done), I probably won't have any time to write while I'm away next week (not if my g/f has anything to say about it, anyway... hehe).

So... just know that I haven't forgotten about all you wonderful kittens, and I fully intend to complete this story. I will update just as soon as I can.

a bit behind

Postby blameburner » Mon Apr 14, 2003 1:24 am

Hey all. Dear Lord, it has been quite a while since I've posted, hasn't it? Yikes. Since I got back from my vacation (which was great, BTW), I've been just totally overwhelmed by school (oh yeah... and my computer bit the big one and I had to buy a new laptop last week - grr). The good news is that my last law school class EVER is in 10 days! The bad news is that means that I have a paper due in 10 days which I've barely started, and my first exam in 14 days. Ugh.

I guess I just wanted anyone who's still interested to know that I will finish this fic! There's still about another 14 chapters to go, and I will get back to writing as soon as I have some free time. Most likely I'll finish up Part 28b relatively soon, probably by writing a page here or a page there when I just can't deal with reading about casino law or the laws of war anymore. After that... I hope to get some writing done betweent he end of exams and graduation (hooray for graduation!), but I honestly don't know how that's all going to go. Then I'm moving to a new city and will be frantically looking for a job (if anyone wants to keep their fingers crossed, I certainly wouldn't object). But after that... Hehe. I know. Cazy, ain't it?

So the bottom line is I hope you'll bear with me through the next month and a half. I've got a lot going on, but I will definitely continue this story if anyone's still interested in reading it.

Look forward to reading more when you find the time to update! Even if it's like, six months from now, I know at least I'll still be interested :D .

Blameburner,

As much as I like your story I would recommend you spend the next ten days or so working on your school-projects. Best get rid of it in a hurry, I'll survive waiting some more... I think :D .

I must admit I was suprised to see this thread back on page#1 :) . I'll just have to re-read the story partly whenever you truly have enough time to pick it up, don't want you to run around just to give us a new chapter on time. Got to life a bit as well after all :D .

And yeah this fic is a bit angsty indeed, but I like those fics. Especially the longer ones, I'll take the longer wait with those gladly :-)

Wow.

I've just read this fic from the start, and I thought I better get over my mild illiteracy to let you know how great this story is.

I was having a search around on pens for a short fic to read to kill half an hour or so, and 2 and a half hours later I have read and re- read your fic. You should really have a health warning on this story to let people know that if they begin to read, they will soon be addicted:wink

Now I have to go and get the feeling back into my butt. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I would do that?:grin

Now I'll be hanging out for the next chapter. Awesome work.

non-update update

Postby blameburner » Thu May 29, 2003 11:08 pm

Hey all...

Well, I am officially done with law school! A big 'ole WOO and double HOO! Graduation was a blast, and a bit of a blur, and now I am busily packing for my move to DC on Saturday. My room looks like a tornado hit it.

Anyhoo, I know I have been very, very absent these last few months. I had been afraid that I wouldn't have any time to write before graduation, and as it turned out, I didn't. But while I have to do some heavy duty job searching after I get settled in my new city, I have decided to take this time off to do some serious writing as well. I actually have a book I'm planning to start writing, but I also plan to pick up TOD again. As soon as I get internet access again, I'll start posting.
