Postby xita » Sat Apr 23, 2005 11:45 pm

We tried to transfer everything from the other board. It's part of the reason we chose this board, a transfer utility. Unfortunately, some posts may be out of order. For the most part this is not a problem. If you spot a huge problem, let us know.

A lot of our index threads, etc. will have broken links. We'll be fixing that in the coming weeks.

Hey xita! Cindipitude just IMed me saying that she hasn't gotten the email to complete registration. She's worried that she made a typo in the address. Is there anything you can do to fix this? Even if it is erasing her first registration attempt so she can try again?

Thanks

Love the new board, but I was wondering if it's possible to increase the size of the text. With my poor eyes even at the largest setting it's still much smaller than the other board. Thanks.

I'll try to find out why that is. On Firefox, I am able to make the font much bigger by pressing ctrl and using the scroll wheel on the mouse.

Thanks Xita. I have IE and really the difference between small and largest when increasing the text on this particular board is hardly noticable (which is quite odd).

ETA is there a spell check on this board... if so I can't seem to locate it?

Geez, and I thought it was just my old eyes that made the font look smaller!

Could we please get the horizontal menu back across the top of each forum? i.e.

Home || Kitten || Witches & Vixens || Pens || Magic in 2 || Genuine Molded Plastic || FAQ || Pens FAQ || The Nether Realms || Links

It really makes it a lot easier to surf between forums.

Also, I would like to dispense w/ the "message successfully posted" screen (or whatever that is). For those of us with slow dial-up :fit2 it just slows things down that much more.

Other than that, congrats on the new board: may it, like Willow&Tara, be livin' and lovin' forever!

Ok those with the problem with the fonts. Firefox will resize it to your size, but IE isn't doing it. To override that on IE go to Internet Options then on the bottom right click accessiblity. Then check the box that says ignore font sizes... then you can adjust the font to a large size on your browser.

One small issue is that when you use the links at the top to go to a different forum, it opens the forum up in a new window on Firefox.

Jackie,

They haven't completed the transfer for Pens yet. Xita said it should be completed sometime today.

I'm with you...I hope it's sooner rather than later. I'm missing the updatey goodness. And I have some feedback novellas that need to be posted. :-D

Hello Kittens - :bigwave

As anyone else, besides myself had problems with multiple posts??? I'm glad that I have the ability to go back and delete one of them, but if you notice... you actually lost your post count. I have been going up and down from 1010 back down to 1009 for the last 10 posts, heehee. I'm not a big post counter but I just wanted to share with others what I had found. Take care kittens. =)

Heh, yes. Don't worry about it too much yet. It's going to take the server some time to settle down, probably.

And Pens is still being worked on. So very sorry for the delay.

I'm glad to hear Pens is being worked on, I look forward to having that around...

But I was just noticing that there's only one page left on the old pens board, and my fic isn't on it. Plus, it's not in the unfinished fic archive here.

Where did it go? Is it in the process of being transferred? Am I going to have to repost it? If I do it's no big, I only had two updates anyway, but I'd like to know.

I am hiding them for now. None of the fic is gone. It's just helping me keep track of what needs to be moved. Once the move is finished, if your fic isn't here for some reason. you can repost it or ask me to transfer it. Either way.

HOW do you delete multiple posts? I see the "Edit" post button, but not the "Delete" . . .

GG Every time I was getting the white screen of death, my post was actually going through---Aargh! Out

And I see that "Message successfully sent" screen is still there---any chance of getting rid of it? (especially as my messages were being successfully sent *without* getting it anyway!)

Yeah, the board went a little weird there for a while. It's kind of a work in progress.

I cleaned up those posts in the Tru Calling thread, btw. Deleted three of yours and one of Shinnen's.

From the FAQ:

Q

15. How do I edit/delete my post?

A

Make certain you are logged in. You won't be able to edit or
delete unless you are logged in.

To edit your post, click on the "EDIT" button in the
upper right corner of your post. This will take you back to
the posting form where you can make any changes.

You can only delete your post if it has not yet been
replied to - that is, if it is the last post in the thread.

You can delete in one of two ways:

Either click the "X" in the upper right of your post or
click on the "EDIT" button and then check the box beside
"Delete this post" and click the "Submit" button. You will
be asked "Are you sure you want to delete this post?" Click
"Yes." Your post should now be deleted. But please remember
that this will only work before another post is made after
yours. If another post is made and you're no longer able to
delete yours, and your post contains information you want
gone, just edit your post.

If a post you've made is able to be deleted, you should see three buttons in the top right - "QUOTE" and "EDIT" and "X"

If the board is wonky and you end up making three or four posts, you should still be able to delete all the extra ones, because once you delete your fourth post, your third one will become delete-able. Delete that and you'll see your second post can now be deleted. All this, of course, only if no one else has posted after you. Once that happens, best to let a mod know.

About the information screen after you've posted, that's just the way a phpBB board does things. For right now, at least, it has to stay that way, as far as I know.

I've been having a lot of the same problems you've mentioned. I HAVE noticed, however, that when the "success message" shows up, it now automatically redirects to my post. I just have to wait about 3 seconds for it to happen.

OK, when I clicked on the link to this board from the old one, the intro screen said that any inappropriate posts would be deleted by the mods...including posts of a sexually explicit nature...is this true? If so...there goes my fanfic career!!! What's up with that?
