Part 13:
The scoobies were gathered in Willow's living room. The room was quiet, everyone looked as if they were in a daze. One of them was continuously looking between the other three. His dark eyebrows scrunched in confusion.
"Ok, one more time.....how is this possible? I mean, you're both girls. Am I the only one having a problem getting that?" The man asked pacing back and forth trying to wrap his mind around the situation.
"I know you're both witches, but magic wasn't used right?"
"Xander, for the last time...it was because it was meant to be. I mean, come on, you've been here as long as me. You know weird things happen here in Sunnydale." The slayer said, her frustration building. She looked at Willow seeing the look on her face.
"Did I say weird, I didn't mean weird....I meant happy. Cause this is a happy thing right?" She said giving the redhead a pleading look that said she wanted forgiveness for what she had said.
The redhead looked down at the tear in her black skirt that she had gotten when the demon attacked. She glanced at Tara who looked to be in a different time zone. She hadn't spoken to the blond since the demon was killed. The main reason being she wouldn't know what to say. She didn't know whether or not Tara was mad at her, if she hated her, and she didn't want to upset her further. The shock was still fresh in everyone's mind. It's not everyday a woman finds out her girlfriend is pregnant with her child. The redhead suddenly felt the reality of the situation. Until now she was just numb, she knew what was happening, it just never sunk in...like it wasn't real. It was real, and she was scared, would she be a good mom? Would her child love her? What if she did something wrong? She took another look at Tara, this time with different eyes. She could feel a new love in her heart, a love for her child, and a love for the blond. A tear rolled down her cheek and she smiled.
Buffy saw the redhead looking at Tara and the tear. She herself looked at the blond and didn't understand what was wrong with Willow.
"Willow? Are you ok?" The slayer asked.
Tara heard Buffy and had to look at her love. She hesitantly looked only to see the face of an angel. She could tell Willow wasn't upset but...happy? She wanted so badly for the redhead to hold her and tell her everything would be alright, that they would be together and be a family. Looking back down, she was determined not to let the tears fall. She didn't want to cry in front of the scoobies.
After seeing the blond look down, the redhead knew she had to talk to her. It was now or never. She jumped up causing everyone else to jump in the process. She put on her resolve face and stood in front of Tara.
"Tara, we need to talk." Was all she said, giving her a look so the blond knew it was important.
Tara nodded and stood up, she followed Willow to the kitchen. She walked into the kitchen and heard Willow close the door. Scared of what the redhead might say, she stood still, not daring to look up.
"Baby...look at me, please?" Willow said, not wanting to talk to the back of the blond's head.
Tara did as she was told. Looking at the redhead with watering eyes.
Giving the blond a smile she continued. "I don't know what you want to do about this, but I know what I want to do." She said, pausing to see if the blond had anything to say. When she didn't get a response, she went on. "What I want is you. I want you, me, and the baby, together. To be a family. I love you Tara, with all that I am, and I know that you love me. This baby wasn't planned, but I think it's meant to be. It's a miracle, and we did it Tara, you and me. I know we can do this, together...if that's what you want....is that what you want?" She asked praying to the goddess that it was.
Tara was left speechless, tears were streaming down her face. She chocked out a "yes" before throwing herself in Willow's arms. Everything once again felt so right. She knew she still had to talk with the redhead about the magic but that could wait. Right now was about her, Willow, and the baby, that's all that mattered.
They came back into the living room where everyone was quiet. Willow could tell they were worried and confused, she decided to put them at ease. Clearing her throat to get their attention, she began.
"Ok, I know this has been one crazy evening but things are gonna be alright. Tara and I have decided to accept the circumstances and welcome them. So...we're having this baby, together. We're both happy and we hope you're happy for us. I think congratulations are in order and we should celebrate. I'm gonna be a mommy!" She said smiling from ear to ear.
Before she knew it, the scoobies were crushing her in a group hug. "Um....breathings becoming an issue."
They gave her an apologetic look and released her.
"I'll get the champagne!" The slayer said raising her hand. She saw the look on Willow's face and furrowed her eyebrows. "What? No champagne?" She asked in a disappointed voice.
"You seem to be forgetting, someone here's expecting." The redhead said looking at Tara.
"Oh....sorry" The slayer told the blond.
Tara smiled. "No, you can get it. I'll have water."
"You sure baby?" Willow asked.
"Yes, we need to celebrate, and for that, champagne's a necessity." The blond said smiling, things were looking good, very good, and she couldn't be happier.
