Thanks for the update on the well um update Rane. Sounds like you have to tie your muse up ;) Of course that could delay the update even further. Anyway, I can sit back and wait patiently for another serving of Camp Flutie to hit the pens.

Update on Flutie???

Postby Nation » Sun Dec 29, 2002 9:17 pm

Please please please....UPDATE SOON?!? It's been over a month and I am slowly losing my sanity waiting for this fabulous fic to have an update. I made the mistake of reading the whole second part over a weekend in mid November, and since then I have been checking (almost) daily for updates....any time frame guessable? Seriously, your fic is awesome and kudos to you for writing it! You're doing a great job, and all of your adoring fans are looking forward to more of your great work! :clap :clap :clap

Cheers! Nation

Rane,

I've just started catching up after an unfortunately long hiatus of that pesky real life thing.

I had planned to catchup before commenting. However, after what I've just read I couldn't wait;

Willow was under the same night sky she looked out upon this very instant. She always had been she realized, and that simple thought comforted her beyond belief.

That's just beautiful. There's comfort in that for any two people who are further apart than they wish to be.

Rane I am not here to pressure you but I was way behind and now I am all caught up, your muse will return to this story , it's always has a difficult history but it has a will of its own :p Meanwhile I hope the computer and your ankle are doing better. You know I love you even if I am a big flake :heart

Postby Blue77 » Tue Jan 14, 2003 5:32 pm

What can I say? Just caught up from scratch in 2 days ... no wonder I was late into work this morning :D

It's beautiful it truly is, this is a wondeful fic. Hope you are really proud of yourself because the way you write them together is so adorable and perfect, as perfect as I always imagine them. They are so cute I could read about them and watch them forever ... if only there were a W/T 24 hr tv channel ... but then I might forget to eat or pee :rolleyes

I just absolutely :love this story. The passion is just so real. The truck scene was amazing and then the movie theatre and the barn, not to forget the stage curtains ... and every time they managed to get 5 seconds with each other. But, the real clincher is their love and how apparent it always is when they are just talking, when they are just looking at each other. The bracelet that Tara made, the poem she wrote, the tiger that Wil won for her, and I liked how Xander thought to himself that they 'glowed' around each other. It's this type of vivid imagery that makes it easy to picture and so special.

Most of all it's the way they can't bear to be seperated from each other when all they want to do is spend every second together for the rest of their lifes, to declare their love to the world and have no recriminations yet knowing that this unfortunately wouldn't be the case with the camp or with Tara's family. This fic is so realistic and yet idealistic all at the same time ... and to quote a certain blonde "How do you do that?" ;)

Cannot wait for more and thank you hon for writing this!

Blue Freak

Postby Rane018 » Mon Jan 27, 2003 3:44 pm

AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry! This is not an update of fic but an update of what is up. I’ve been working and trying to finish off kinks before I finish flutie. I’m so almost done with kinks that I’m totally 100% only thinking about that fic right now. Well, that one and the 1850 but I’m totally just working on the kinks. As soon as that is finished (soon) I will start again with Flutie's ending. I’m condensing the story to finish it sometime this year. Lol…. :p

Puff- I so wish I had something besides an update on the update right now. I’ll just give you a big ole HUG to squeeze you over til the next update.

Ten ten- it better be worth the wait. It’s been tooooo long.

Spice- I’m like *vacation*? And then I saw the date of your post and I understood which vacation. Lol. It was great. Good things will come, esp to willow and tara. Yay!!!!!

Bev- you’ve had to have learned patience by now, no? :lol

Nation- hi hon. I’m soooooorrrryyyy about the lack of updates. The reason I haven’t yet posted flutie on many sites is the fact I get like you. I read a fic in its entirety and then I get all angsty for an update. Sorry to have done that to the kittens. All the gods know I tried really hard to finish this after the last parts hiatus took months as well. I had a better reason then but this time it’s all my fault! I take the balme. Bad me! And as for adoring fans… hehe…

Raspberry- hi sweetie! :wave I’ve still got to email you back! Lol..

RS- I fixed my computer! Yay! Well sort of cause I have a shitty OS but at least it’s not crashing every two minutes.

Drlloyd- has a foot fetish… check….

Xita- it was my KNEE not my ankle! I love it the way you pay attention when we talk! :spin Lol.

Blue- :blush I’m so varklempt by your words! You are so sweet. Thank you so much for reading

R- soon? Lol. As soon as I’m done with kinks I’ll get to flutie. Sorry!

hugs and kisses y'all! plus, i'm loving the new smilies!

Rane.....okay, time for a little praise and sucking up....:wink

First off, I truly love your writing. At first I thought I wouldn't like "Flutie"....boy was I WRONG! I was hooked in an instant and as I explained earlier, made the mistake of reading the whole thing way too quickly. So for a couple months I have had my update withdrawal. :D Then I started to read "Kinks" and I thought, "oh man, Rane's writing is freakin' amazing!!!!", which it is! I love all of your stories, and I am not afraid to tell you that you are definitely one of my top 3 writers on this board (I won't mention the other two, can't have a lot of big egos running around out there haha). I will wait patiently for updates to both "Kinks" and "Flutie", although I will be in the hospital for a few days in about three weeks, and it would be great to come home to an update of either story. :) Please do not rush the endings on either story. You are so damn good at writing, that I dread when the end is near of either fic. Although, that would give you the opportunity to write something new, which I wouldn 't complain about either. Okay, enough of the flattery, get back to your other adoring fans and/or your life outside the kitten board. Take care and hope to hear from you soon....

good lord, nation, what a sweet thing to write. you are too sweet.kittens sure are so appreciative and appreciated! for a second there i'm like *has nation been actually reading my fics?* lol. ask any of my pseudo beta's and they'll tell you how unsure i always am about writing. heck, i even post it here. very cool to hear when someone like's your stuff and not just one fic you know cause kinks and flutie are so different. i need to have a different frame of mind when writing each. feels like i have ten different frames of mind and personalities. lol.

but tell you what you'll have an update of both fics for your stay at the hospital. hope it's nothing too bad sweetie. :kiss

More Magical Brilliance Please!!!

Postby Blue77 » Tue Mar 11, 2003 6:00 pm

Hey Rane,

Just dropping you a line to request More Magical Brilliance soon. I cannot forget about this fic, it's a drug pulling me in and I'm so addicted you have to help me before the withdrawal symptons get too much and I just start :drool at the sight of trucks which could seriously affect my driving.

More importantly I can't wait to see where the story goes, I know it's illogical but I can't help worrying about what is gonna happen when Camp Flutie is over. I'm hoping Willow will rescue Tara from the evil clutches of The Chairman of No Fun Brigade (Tara's dad) ... but I'm not sure she can overcome her fear of horses to be the Knight in her heart!!

Anyways I need a :smash ... can you help me out?

Sending you all my :bigkiss your way

Camp Flutie=Joy!

Postby MellindraX » Wed Mar 12, 2003 8:55 pm

Hey! I read Camp Flutie (#1) in the archives a day ago, then saw #2 here, and had to read it. Both are beautiful, sweet, lovely, and hilarious tributes to W/T. Also, I've always been a huge fan of meeting-fics, and this is one of the best handled version developmentally. No speeding through nor tortourous slowness that makes me want to beat the writer over the head with a bat :smash . This is awesome!

Oh, and one more thing.

not an update.

Postby Rane018 » Wed Mar 12, 2003 9:52 pm

:p I’m alive though not for long cause some kitties are going to kill me. I know I said soon and soon has turned into forever again but I started a new job and the hours are crazy and my weekends are the only me time and friends and family time and writing fic time. I’ll get to this asap. I will but I cant give a certain time frame. Sorry sorry sorry.

Hugs to all for reading and still waiting patiently for an update.

R- LOL. I got the computer up and running but then did some changing of my OS system and now I’m getting used to the new OS. And to top it off at work I’m now using mac so it’s a new OS all over again again. *sigh*

Kiwigrrrl- sorry but there is not update soon and telling from your post date you must’ve kinda figured that out already. :lol

Discatay- this is definitely a great place for fic. Lot’s of great stuff out there. I’m acutally quite surprised people still remember this fic with all the new fic coming about. :) and remember not just the truck… :blush

Blue- you need a pounding, or a hammer to play with? :p You should have been with us a few weeks ago when xita and a couple other kittens checked out a kitten’s new truck and checked for Flutie realism. Looks like quite a few people will never look at a truck the same way again…. As for your questions… willow rescue tara? Nope not going to happen. And I know that sounds terrible but don’t worry. It’s a happy ending remember?…as for her horsie fear she’s sorta overcoming them slowly. Who wouldn’t with tara as a teacher?… Update will come some day soon. Lol… sorry!

Cath- hi! Welcome to the board as a registered kitten. Lol… Glad to hear you loved the fic and even remembered it. Hehe… thanks for delurking.

Mellindra- torturous slowness. LMAO! You should have seen the emails MC would send me when I gave her sneak peeks of the first couple of chapters. She was like *are they kissing yet? Why aren’t they kissing yet?!* lol… I actually had this outlined for three parts but decided to chuck it and just condense part two and three together. That’s why it’s taking a bit longer to plot out. But I’ll have an update hopefully soon.

toodles. :fallen

Hey Rane

Just wanted to let you know my eyes hurt. I think 'm going blind, but I couldn't stop reading your fic. (Its either that or the scenes in the truck, theatre or ...:blush )

I love this story and the way that you have developed our girls' relationship, they are so cute together and their dialogue is perfect. I also love the relationship between Tara and her father, in a morbid sadistic bizarro kinda way. I can certainly relate and I agree with you that you can have different levels of abuse. I think you reflect Tara's fear and defiance really well. Until my father had his stroke a few months ago I had a somewhat frosty relationship with him, but now I travel home every weekend and things are thawing. Its also the time I get to catch up on the W/T world on the net - so bonus - its a great escape.

I'd say that I can't wait for the next update, but I can. There are so many fantastic fics to read in the meantime and I've read some good things about a story called, hmm... Kinks? You know that youv'e stumbled across a good fic when most of the feedback you see is from other authors that you admire. What amazes me is how you all find the time.

On that note and because my eyes really do hurt *awww* happy writing.

not an update but...

Postby Rane018 » Sun Mar 23, 2003 2:25 pm

is it possible that lil rane-y has actually gotten some Flutie writing done?! Oh my goodness. Yes, it is. I must say I’ve worked out the kinks (no pun or no shameless plug intended) and I should be able to get this train back on track. Only problem is work. Sigh… we’re in pre prod so lots of working late and crazyness. This means I only have weekends to get any writing done and it’s split between various other engagements. I hope to have a Flutie update by the end of next week. Til then be good y’all! (esp if my deadline comes and goes without an update. lol)

Erin- hi! I didn’t like camp very much either, never had a date to the banquet and always got ear infections. Ok, so I did have a date to the banquet but it was more like his first choice said no and I was seconds. lol. Whatever. (i also only went two years to camp cause i LOVED it so much. teehee) It’s been weird revisiting camp hell for this fic, I even called old friends to ask about camp experiences cause I couldn’t remember any.… w/t fair well in any situation I’d think if the author does ‘em justice. But then again there are some AU fics I just cant get into, just like some people cant get into this one. oh well, glad there are so many brilliant w/t fic writers to satisfy everyone.

Ade- my eyes hurt too after hours of reading. Lol. “morbid sadistic bizarro kinda way” is actually a great description on my take of Tara’s dad’s parenting skills. I’ve been blessed to have two great parents and I’ve never had to deal with any kind of abuse. mainly that’s why I don’t write physical abuse or violence against our girls. I can’t stand it (writing or reading) and I don’t want to take time trying to write something I’m not comfortable with. I mean if her dad was such a controlling freak he’d never have let her go in the first place. But that’s not what we’re here to talk about, are we? I could write a whole essay on my POV just as anyone else can write an essay on theirs. I’m just in it for w/t together… loving… sigh… working out the kinks is the other story I’m writing at the same time. Crazy me. And yes there are tons of wonderful fics out there til the next update. I just wish I had time to write and read and enjoy everyone of them. Lol…

toodles! :bigwave

YIPPEE....A Flutie update soon!!!! Just out of curiosity Rane, roughly how much longer are you going to make Flutie? If I remember correctly, the girls only had a few weeks left until camp was over. I for one will welcome as many updates as possible that can be squeezed into a fictional "few weeks" period, since this fic ROCKS! I promise not to bug you and email you begging for updates (this time hahaha). I'm headed home for the next two weeks and will be without internet access (I've got to show off my baby boy to his grandparents :D ). Hopefully when I get back, there will be updates to all of my favorite stories including this one. Take care and don't work too hard!!!

shamefully short update but i just wanted to let you all know i'm stillworking on this fic! lol...

more soon, kittens! :peace

********************

But before Buffy grabbed her second snack from Xander she suddenly turned towards Willow, “Did you hear that?” she asked a redhead bewildered by her actions.

Xander quit chewing and listened for a moment, “No.”

“’Cause you just missed it.” She rolled her eyes at him.

“I didn’t hear anything,” Willow replied looking towards the direction of Buffy’s gaze, a direction which just happened to lead to the exit door of the large kitchen.

It sounded a bit like the rustling leaves, “There. I just heard it again. Did you hear it?” She knew it could be anything but didn’t want to chance it.

Willow shook her head, she was beginning to get scared again. There was no way she was going to face any demon tonight. It was summer, dammit. Why did this keep happening to them? “Is there something out there?”

“One way to find out,” the Slayer voiced as she headed toward the exit.

“Buffy, no. Wait.” Willow called after her, “What if-”

“A notebook.” Buffy noticed the pad, upside down, on the ground as soon as she’d opened the screen door. She bent down to pick it up. Its pages were a bit dirty from the earth and red from the what probably was flying spaghetti.

“A notebook?” Xander asked trailing Willow with his broom still ready for action.

“Yeah, little doodles and drawings.” Buffy mentioned as she flipped thought the papers. “Some poems too. They could be spells. You do some rhyming don’t ya when you call upon…” Buffy squinted her eyes as she tried reading the fine print, “Goddess Kali of creation and transformation, transform my world.’” she read aloud. This did not sound good at all.

“Let me see.” A soon as Buffy handed over the notepad and read some of the spell writings Willow drew out her disappointed sigh… “Jamie.”

“A ‘huh’ and a ‘how do you know’ it’s Jamie’s?” Buffy questioned.

Willow pointed to the engraved letters JMW on the footer of every page as she flipped through it. “Jamie Marie Wallis.” She clarified.

She’d read the name a million times on cabin paperwork but mainly on everything Jamie owned that was either engraved with her initials or labeled with her name. Willow tried reasoning this out. Jamie was shy and quiet but that didn’t mean anything. She was very secretive though. She was the only one that didn’t unpack her belongings in the beginning of the session and always closed her suitcase with a lock. She was the only that had an incentive to use mischievous magick against her camp tormentors.

Xander was very confused, “Who’s Jamie?”

“You spent a whole day in the kitchen with her and you don’t remember her?” Buffy asked.

Willow was quiet, still in shock. Jamie, lil’ Jamie, was engaged in dark magicks. Lil’ Jamie was dealing with forces she didn’t even comprehend yet. How could Jamie do this? How powerful was she?

“Earth to Willow.”

“What?” she was shaken out of her contemplation, “Sorry.”

“I said maybe you should talk to her.”

“Me?”

“Yeah. She’ll listen to you. She likes you. Plus, you work the mojo too so you can tell her about some of your experiences with magick.”

Willow reddened at that statement. Her most magickal experiences involved a goddess named Tara and she was certainly not going to talk to Jamie about that. “But… Maybe it’s not her. Maybe someone stole her notebook and used it.”

“From Fort Knox? I doubt it.”

“Maybe she misplaced it.”

Buffy crinkled her brow in thought, “Why are you defending her?”

“Why are you so…” Willow couldn’t think of what to say. Why *was* she defending Jamie? “Why are you being such a poop head?” she huffed as she inwardly winced at the lame retort.

“Nice comeback there, Will.” Xander tilted his head in a half nod.

Buffy turned and headed towards the cabins. “I’m going to talk to her.”

“Buffy, wait!” Willow followed after her. “You can’t just go barging in there like- like a Slayer.” That is, if the girls ran back to the cabin after the fiasco at all. They were probably in bunk number five hiding underneath the covers with the boys. ‘And that sounds so wrong’, she voiced to herself.

“Ok, thanks, bye!” Xander half waved at the two retreating figures. “I’ll just be here. Cleaning up the food infested building.” He grumbled and went inside.

Willow followed her best friend. “Buffy, you don’t know, maybe she’s scared. Maybe it got too powerful for her and that’s why she ran away. You cant-”

“Willow?”

Tara’s unexpected voice silenced her in mid-sentence. “Tare?” she asked as she quickly searched around the open area for her girlfriend. “What are you still doing here?” She asked, her eyes taking in the Tara’s womanly figure as she walked up to her with a worried gaze.

“I felt-“ she nervously looked at Buffy, “I felt t-this energy. L-like magick. Dark though.” Her eyes connected with Willow’s green, “I didn’t even get to the gate before I turned back around.”

“The food turned into bugs. It was a thing.” Buffy restlessly voiced. She wanted to find Jamie as soon as possible and get this whole thing dealt with.

“Bugs?” Tara could sense Buffy’s craving for a confrontation though she didn’t understand why.

“Somebody made a spell.”

“Oh god, was anybody hurt?”

Willow reached out and softly caressed her lovers arm. “No.” she laced their fingers together. Tara was so in tune with the magicks around her, sensitive with people’s emotions, Willow wondered how she dealt with it. If it were her she’d be using her power to stop the pain, anything help herself and others. But that wasn’t the way of Wicca according to Tara. Their rules and customs forbade them from interfering with nature and the natural order of things. Unimportant use of magick like tonight was frowned upon.

“Not yet.” Buffy crossed her arms over her chest.

Willow scowled, “You’re declaring Jamie guilty without any real proof.”

“Jamie?” Tara’s voice was filled with astonishment. Jamie practiced magicks?

Willow wordlessly handed the notebook over to the blonde. She and Buffy silently watched her leaf through the pages, both nervous in anticipation. “These are harmless.” Tara finally spoke after about half a minute of skimming, handing the notebook to Buffy. “There are no spells in here. If it were a true Book of Shadows there would be more details, directions. It’s just poetry.”

Buffy was still not convinced. “Are you sure?”

“Have you tried talking to her about it? Calmly?” Tara softly half smiled at Buffy while Willow smugly grinned beside her girlfriend.

Buffy sighed. Glancing back and forth from Willow’s self-satisfied smirk and Tara’s sweet smile she now understood what Willow meant when she said Tara had this power to just soothe her nerves. She knew both of them were right and chalked it up to the lack of slaying these past few weeks with out the exception of the yucky yucky that was building up in her system. She still patrolled, mainly took long walks, every night but it just wasn’t the same. She needed a fight at least three times a week to pacify her plenteous energy.

“Ok. Tomorrow you talk to her, Will.” Buffy said as she headed to the cabins once again.

“Me?”

Buffy swung around to her friend, “Yeah, you. You’re the powerful witch.”

“I’m not a powerful witch. Tara’s a powerful witch.” She said thumbing over to her girl.

Tara quickly shook her head, “Not really.” It wasn’t that she was more powerful, she just knew more spells.

“Yes, you are.” Both Buffy and Willow said at the same time.

Stunned by their comments, Tara looked at both her girlfriend and Buffy.

“What? Willow tells me about your spells together and stuff. ”

‘Stuff’ Tara mouthed over to the blushing redhead who quickly denied it all with a shake of her head.

“I think I’m going to go run around the field or something.” Buffy said as she stretched out her legs and back muscles in front of the two girls. “I need to burn all this Slayer energy.”

“Ok.” Willow said a bit too quickly. She had already begun to drag Tara away.

“Fine. Bye.” Buffy couldn’t help but smile.

*******************

“Tara, your father- What will you tell him?” Willow asked as they neared Tara’s truck.

She wasn’t really that late just about 45 minutes. Sometimes that was enough though. “I don’t know. I’ll think of something.”

“Tell him you got a flat. And that you didn’t call because you didn’t want to bother him.”

Tara was surprised by Willow’s excuse. Not bothering her father or brother was always her best bet at not getting into trouble with them. “He’ll notice I don’t.”

Without so much as a peep Willow quickly dug into Tara’s back pocket, making sure her fingers caressed the fleshy mound there before withdrawing, and opened the door to the truck with Tara’s keys. The blonde was left breathless as she watched Willow lean over the seat towards the glove compartment with her well-cupped bottom pointing skyward. Tara unconsciously licked her lips. Willow and jeans were meant to be together.

Before she had the chance to cop a feel herself Willow was standing next to her holding her Swiss Army knife that was part of her earthquake survival kit. With a mischievous smile, she silently moved towards the back of the truck and slashed Tara’s left rear tire with the sharp blade, “Now you have a flat.”

Tara grinned while she listened at the hissing noise of air escaping the tire. Willow was so smart sometimes.

“Oh crap.” Willow muttered.

“What?”

“Do you know how to change a tire?”

Tara laughed, ‘sometimes’ was right.

TBC....

"Take care of my heart, won't you please? Take care of it because it's all that I have. And if you let me, I'll take care of your heart too." Pure sweetness in the look between Willow and Tara.

Yay an update :) So someone's working dark mojo and people think it could be Jamie. I hope it isn't. Hee hee I loved that Willow slashed the tire first and then thought about having to change it. Thanks for the update Rane it is great to see this story back.
