Just figured I'd start a thread about this movie. Trailers are amazing. I know whwn I first saw it, I was thinking, 'wait Uma Thurman in an action movie.' I kinda forgot her turn as Emma Peel in the "Avengers". But 'Kill Bill' from what I've seen has lots of strong women characters. Eagerly awaiting Oct. 10

The first time I heard about this movie was when reading Total Film magazine. When I saw a picture of Uma in the yellow tracksuit, wielding a katana, I immediately thought of Amber Benson in her place.



I haven't seen the film yet, but I'm certainly looking forward to it.

Hello all,

Same thing as chilled monkey here- I posted about Kill Bill in the Movie Recommendation thread so forgive me for double posting. I have been fortunate enough to already see Kill Bill, I went to a BVI press show in London 2 weeks ago and I have to say it was pretty good. And the cast were stunning.

I did a sort of semi-review in this thread so if you want an idea of what it's like then you can always check it out there.

Computers are kind of beyond me and I don't really know how to post the link to it, but I think it is on page 41.

This months Total Film also has a good feature on Kill Bill and a lovely pic of Uma Thurman on the front cover.

PS. If anyone is interested in getting the music that accompanies the trailer it is called "Shin Jingi-naki Tatakai" and it is by Hotei Tomoyasu. I don't think it is on any albums produced as it was specifically recorded for the trailer but it is available to download from various file sharers. And it is bloody excellent!

I just read that in one scene, 100 gallons of fake blood was used. The make-up guys filled condomns with it all and splattered the extras.



I now really have to see this film. All the trailers look absolutely bollocking, I think that the Japanese school girl with the morningstar mace was in Battle Royale AND Uma Thurman kicks some atomic arse. This film is going to be really, really cool.



It may turn out to have a crap plot, but who cares? Swords. Samurai. Yellow with black stripes. 100 gallons of blood.

OMIGOD this is going to rock so much!

I just love Quentin Tarantinos extremely excessive overuse of gore and blood, so yay! Fun for all the family, well thats of course if your family is over 18 with a stomach that can handle such things.

Uma is just awesome, and I just hate Ethan Hawke so much with a passion now for what he did to her. I hope he suddenly contracts genital warts and then after a few days of pain gets hit by a bus. Not too harsh a punishment for infidelity.

I went to see Kill Bill this weekend and loved it!



It's typical Tarantino, gore and blood galore, but it was awesome! And I hate using that word. I sound like a pre-teen. (No offense to the young-uns)



Anyway, I loved how the film progressed through chapters. It flipped through black and white/color and some animation. It really gave the movie a great look and feel. I would recommend it to anyone who has a strong stomach and can dig Tarantino's style.



I was skeptical as Uma being a kick ass chick but I have to say she did an incredible job. And Lucy Lui, well, I just love her regardless. Lucy deserves big kudos for her role and her portrayal. She was incredible. I can't wait for Part 2.



I may go see it again with some friends just for the hell of it.

I've already seen the movie twice and seriously considering going again. That scene with uma vs. the Crazy 88's is absolutely jaw-dropping. Eagerly awaiting vol. 2 just to see how it all ends.

Am I the only one who’s really not all that interested in this? I’ve never seen Pulp Fiction, and although Lucy Lui is a real draw in this movie, just not ready to run out to the theater and see it. Ah well, there’s always one in every group

Oh, no, you're definitely not the only one. In my case, though, a big part of why I have no interest in Kill Bill is because I did see Pulp Fiction and seemed to be about the only person in the world who thought it was .

Well, I'd never wanna be a buzzkill on a thread for a specific movie/show, but I'll chime in since it's started!



I liked Pulp Fiction, but more *despite* than because of the gore (much like my feelings about Silence of the Lambs). PF had a really clever script, and great performances, esp. by my man Samuel L. But gore for gore's sake, No.



Now w/ that caveat, I'm even less-excited by the prospect of grrl-on-grrl violence. Hey, I loved Xena vs. Callisto (or Buffy vs. Faith), but that was because of the plot, not merely the visuals. But in watching the trailers for Kill Bill, I got that same icky feeling as that commercial I ranted about a few days ago "Pay-Per-View Perfect 10 Model Boxing!" It looks like a sexualized show for straight male pervs (not that that's not their First Amendment right, but I just don't get off on it).



Put me down as Classic Dyke Male-Basher , but if I'm gonna watch "Chicks Kick Ass" (instead of gettin' to the lovin'), I'd much rather watch 'em kick male ass. At least that's the kind of violence which, in the abstract, serves *some* social purpose.

After waiting 2 months and 2 weeks I saw Kill Bill last nite with my best mate. I am really shocked how uncool this film is! I totally love all the films that Quentin Tarantino has made in his career, but this one doesnt do it for me!



With Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and the cool From Dusk till Dawn ( he wrote that!) I was blown away coz it had something wonderful, something special just a huge kick in my teeth kinda films. I couldnt believe how slow, boring and cold this film was. I hoped it would jump out and make me feel like joining in....it didnt!



I thought Uma was very manly. Her feet look just like guys feet! Me and my mate were laughing at that. I really liked Lucy Lui. I thought she was brill, and I wouldnt like to piss her off when she has some knifes in her hand hehe. Oh I liked Daryl Hannah in this film, its good to see her back at last! And seeing Mr Blonde, Michael Madsen once again.



I enjoy the fights, they were amazing. But to be honest, I felt sorry for everyone she killed. Yeah I know she needed to get her revenge, but she looked so bloody sad doing it! If revenge is sweet, then can someone tell Uma please before Kill Bill Vol. 2!



All in all, I thought it was ok, cool but not wonderful. I hoped for something like his old films. I will go and see the second film coz the cliff hanger was good ( I wont tell you what goes on hehe) and I cant wait to see Bill....we didnt see him much



I would give it 5 out of 10. Thats me being nice coz I always give his films 10 out of 10........



Oh and yeah if I ever need some revenge....then hid the knifes and the yellow jumpsuit from me

I saw Kill Bill for the first time on friday night and I just have to say that Tarantino is God



To be fair I think I annoyed everyone in the cinema by pointing out every camera angle and spenind most of the film analysing the use of editing and blahblahblah (media studies will do that to you)



I loved the cast and Uma actually managed to pull off a convincing act of which i had been a bit skeptical off in the beginning. Lucy Lui rocks though I think the last fight scene could have been a lot better.

The only problem I had with this film was when The Bride was using two katanas at once to fight in that restaurant place. The katana is a two handed weapon, no way could she have used two of them in the way she did! But I'm a big nerd and noticed stuff like that

p.s did anyone else noticed those little sexual innuendos that were slipped in during the film? Like 69 on The Brides heart monitor in the hospital scene?

Finally got to see this movie on Saturday, and it so rocks! I definitely got my dose of violence for the weekend. I went with my parents, and it was so amusing to watch my mom hide every time blood would spurt all over the place, which was a good portion of the film.



My favorite scenes were definitely the fight scenes between The Bride and Go Go, The Bride versus the Yakuza henchmen, especiall when it was in silhouette, and the final battle scene between O-Ren and The Bride. Awesome. Oh, and the anime sequence was great! Can't forget that. Go Go, the school girl bodyguard was awesome! She totally kicked The Bride's ass, and would've won if she hadn't been stupid and gotten so close. But, still, hurray for evil, insane, Japanese school girls.



Oh, shootingstar, I agree that it would be uncomfortably awkard to weild two katanas, but it's not totally inconceivable. For example, Miyamoto Musashi wielded two swords, a katana and a wakizashi. Though, the wakizashi is a quite a bit shorter than a katana, so it's not quite the same, especially since The Bride's sword looked really long since she had such great reach.... and I'm rambling, so I'll stop now. Anyway, I just chalked it up to The Bride having mad skillz.

I saw kill bill last week, I thought it was a really cool film, some of the fight scenes were just wow! But...is it me or was the blood thing a bit nasty? There was like 10 times as much blood as in any other film, I found myself hiding behind my popcorn whenever she went to stab someone!

Well I'm no expert, but I am pretty sure that a skilled sword-fighter would be able to effectively wield a katana one-handed as they were very well-balanced. I'm not so sure about using two at a time though.

I thought the plot was really good and the characters were just amazing. Words just cannot express how good this movie is!

I enjoyed the movie scene by scene, the way he split it into chapters, all the different techniques, genres and ideas he touched on throughout part 1. It was just so surreal, harsh and funny for the viewer, well for me anyway. It lived up to my expectations and then some.

My favourite bit from the movie was when she beat the crap out of that hospital orderly...well, one of my favourites

Morning all,

I watched Kill Bill Volume 2 last night and I have to say it's really rather good I was very surprised we got the print in this early to be honest as the first preview isn't until Thursday, but somebody up there must like me because it was in, and being the ever conscientious projectionist I am, ran it asap to obviously check the print for details. That and I was absolutely dying to see the second half.

And I have to say it is really very good. Not as blood drenched as the first one, but there are one or two sequences that are a little grimace inducing, so the squeamish amongst you beware. I don't know how to use spoiler coding on the board so I won't post any details here, but Volume 2 is essentially shot in the same style as Volume One, with flashbacks and alternate viewpoints used to create backstory, and there is a greater fleshing out of the characters Budd, Elle and Bill who remained in the shadows mainly in the first film. And the fight between the Bride and Elle, I doubt that's really a spoiler as part of it is in the trailer and it's obvious the Bride has to get through the DiVAS before she reaches Bill, is worth the price of admission alone. It is balls out bitch fight and it is ruddy marvellous! And we also get to see how the Bride got her martial arts training from Pai Mei (he's the guy with long white hair and crazy beard in the trailer)and it is very, very cool

Anyone wants more details of the flick, mail me unless someone can tell me the spoiler coding.

But it is definitely worth going to see. And a new charcter is introduced who has a deep effect on the Bride. Trust me, it's great
