Lilo & Stitch!

Salem Witch Trials, koala bears, SpongeBob: what's on TV and at the movies!

I had totally missed your post with the wallpapers. Thank you. :) I am going to use them on one of my computers. I have several so I won't have to feel guilty about replacing WT on one of them, they still grace the screen of my other three comps, and hum yeah, I am one of those people who can't get rid of their old stuff.

Oh, I've been watching the Beauty and the Beast special edition dvd and I noticed that Chris Sanders was one of the story guys. He's been with Disney for a long time!

Stitch's tv show is to hit UK shores on October 23rd, if you read the official Sky magazine. On the Disney Channel, 8am. What an unearthly hour to see genius!

Anyone see it yet? I guess they're calling it Lilo & Stitch instead of Stitch! The Series or whatever it was going to be before.

I think this was the first episode, but I'm not really sure. I've had a bit of trouble finding information about it. I had to forsake the internet and use my TiVo to search for times and channels. Looks like it's on ABC every Saturday morning at 7 (Central), and on Disney at bizarre and random times. The good news is that, as far as I could tell, they repeat the eps fairly frequently, so if you miss some, it's not hard to catch them again later.

I was pleasantly surprised by it. The animation is not all that great; it seems to be even a step down from the straight-to-video sequel. Plus, apparently Dr. Hamsterviel will be around forever and ever and ever. (At least he wasn't in this ep much, praise be.) But the writing seemed decent and it had more than a few good moments. Jumba's hair issues? Hilarious! :lol And Myrtle? Must....be.....punished! And "Black Cat to Mutant Dog, Black Cat to Mutant Dog..." Oh, man, I need to watch this again. :rollin

Overall, I was happy with it and I'm going to keep watching it. As long as they don't change the basic nature of Lilo, Stitch, and the quality of their relationship, I think it'll be fine.

Plus, there's that sort of "chosen family" message that's always there - that there's an 'ohana out there for everyone. Appealing.

ABC eh? I'll have to look for it. It's been years since I watched saturday morning cartoons! :grin That was always the best part of the week.

Hamsterwheel (I gotta call him that!) is a definite minus for the show if he's in it a lot. Yuck :( The rest of it sounds fun, even if the animation is sucking.

Ah, yes, I have many fond memories of sitting down two feet from the TV in my pajamas with a big ol' bowl of Crunch Berries and a whole morning of cartoons in front of me. Saturdays seemed to last forever back then. ...sigh...

Anyway, the animation isn't horrifyingly bad. It's just we were so spoiled by that beautiful, perfect animation in the first film, I think. This is probably no worse than any other Saturday morning cartoons, and possibly even better than most. I don't know. It's better than Scooby Doo anyway.

Yeah, I'm really displeased by Hamsterwheel being around at all. I guess they needed someone to be Gantu's boss now. If the rest of the eps are like this one I saw today, though, his presence is mostly limited to communicating with Gantu on that phone thing. I fear him becoming a bigger part of the show, if that ever happens. Bleh.

No Nani, no Cobra so far. I hope they'll be around in the future.

Bleh, I missed it. If I am ever up that early on a Saturday, it is usually to let the dogs out and then go right back to bed. I'll have to catch it on the Disney channel.

Nani and Cobra.... Tia Carrere and Ving Rhames. I kinda doubt that they'd get themselves involved in voicing a saturday morning cartoon. :sob Maybe a cameo here and there? I hope! And no animation could be worse than Scooby Doo, but that was made it so fun! It was sooooo bad!

I'm trying to remember my saturday morning cartoon breakfasts. We weren't usually allowed any of that sweet cereal stuff so it probably would've been Shreddies loaded up with heaps of brown sugar. :grin I got around that "healthy" cereal thing!

My sister and I often had some friends sleep over so saturday mornings would start with the night before, watching The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. heheheheh And I think we'd usually be up by 8:00 because there were good shows on already. And Battle of the Network Stars!!!!!!!!! Oh that show rocked!!! :lol

Whoops, memory lane!

Way to go DrG, yes, very addicting. My daughter was on the other day and we had to go to a Birthday Party and I had to tell her 3 times that it was time to go, she was so engrossed with one of the games. She told me she couldn't leave the computer (as her eyes were watering from the concentration) hehe it was funny.

Good luck, I think I'll go play for a bit.

Actually the surfing is not that hard. You just have to stay at the far end of the wave, most of the objects float by at the front. It can be a bit hard to estimate your position to avoid getting hit though, if you get hit once, it usually is over soon oddly enough.

Anna, that's so cute. :lol

Edited to brag: I am now number *one* in the hall of surfing fame. I rock. :smug

Disney just had a marathon on Saturday and I finally got around to watching some of the eps this evening. I still have two more, I think. But...whoa...I had to post and say that "Cannonball" is excellent. Like, after the original movie, this ep is the best L&S thing I've seen. For real.

Four words: highly contagious butt rabies

:rollin

"Spooky" is also really good. Three words: MYRTLE NALA KWEESTA!

I guess we know how Stitch feels about Myrtle now. :lol And Lilo is classic as a dead hula girl. Complete with a hatchet in her head.

My Hawaiian gf got such a kick out of Gantu trying to pass for Samoan, too. (Even though she's been irked by a few things. No squirrels in Hawaii and no snow-capped peaks on Kauai. Yes, she can pick a nit with the best of them. I have trained her well.)

If you see no other eps, you must see "Cannonball" and probably "Spooky" too. They're gonna be on Disney again in the next week or two.

Oh damn, I am jealous now. If we ever get to see this series here it is going to be in Dutch and I can't listen to that. I did buy Stitch the Movie on DVD a few days ago, and I liked it. It had a few sweet and funny moments, but I definitely prefer Lilo & Stitch. Hopefully the series will come out on DVD as well. Oh and Myrtle? Since when does Stitch watch AMC? :p

Check your tv guide and have a look. It may be there.

I need remedial Lilo and Stitch viewing because Lilo's still irking me a bit. I loved her in the movie. Was bored by her in the sequel. And I thought she should maybe do her own "badness" chart. Guilt guilt guilt!

The little stinker just needs more hugs, right?

Stitch.... Love him.

Pleakley doing yoga! So love that!!!!!!

And stopping for baby back ribs on their way to save the world was so hilarious.

I just saw my first episode of Lilo and Stitch: the Series, at one in the morning. Which I think was odd. It was Cannonball, I think, that I saw.

Are they really planning on making 620odd episodes?

The interesting thing about this is that I watched it as part of my homework - we're supposed to watch TV and analyze gender roles, looking at cues as to who's rescuing/being rescued, who seems confident, is in a position of power. . . Between this and a certain other show I might watch, my results might be slightly skewed. . .

Are you saying that Jumba is gay? :shock Whatever could make you think that?

Anyone seen "Yapper"? I loved seeing Jumba and Pleakley checking into the hotel as "Mr. and Mrs. Jukiba." :lol I also like that it's a non-issue on the show. It appears that Jumba and Pleakley are pretty much raising Lilo. I do wish they could find a way to show Nani doing that working-single-parent thing without making her come across as neglectful. I think they're doing an okay job of that, but I've gotten wee vibes a couple times. And I feel conflicted about it.

Anyway, "Cannonball" is awesome! My favorite ep so far, definitely.

Is Jumba gay?! Noooooooooo. Really?? ;) He and Pleakley just make me laugh. Mr. and Mrs. Jukiba!!!!!! Excellent.

I've only seen the one with 606. Black Hole thingie. And yeah, Nani is sure trying, but the neglect thing is sort of present. :(

And no David! :cry

I've now met Myrtle's mom. I'd have sworn she was a tourist. Guess not!

Ok, I get to edit because I've now seen one with David. Excellent!

And in other news....

If the dvd is really really cheap, then ok. Otherwise I'll wait for it to air again.

American Aloha: Hula Beyond Hawai'i, Now Available on DVD

www.customflix.com/Store/...?id=205033

Produced by Lisette Flanary & Evann Siebens

For Hawaiians, the hula is not just a dance, but a way of life. Yet

while most Americans know only the stereotypes of 'grass skirt girls'

from old Hollywood movies and tourist kitsch, the revival of the

ancient art of hula tells of the rich history and spirituality of

Hawai'i.

American Aloha discovers a renaissance of Hawaiian culture through

music, language and dance as it continues to grow in California.

Following three kumu hula, or master hula teachers, the film

celebrates the perpetuation of a culture -from the very traditional to

the contemporary- as it evolves of distant shores.

With more Native Hawaiians living on the US mainland that on the

islands, the hula is a living tradition that connects generations far

from home to their heritage. Revealing the challenges of cultural

survival through the struggles of Hawai'i's past, American Aloha is a

proud reminder of the power of reclaiming tradition for communities

creating a home away from home.

Featuring Kumu Hula Sissy Kaio and Hula Halau 'O Lilinoe Na Pua Me

Kealoha, Kumu Hula Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu and Na Mele Hula 'Ohana, and

Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakane and Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE: The newly authored American Aloha DVD is currently

in production, and will be availble for shipment November 21, 2003.

oh. my. god.

The ep they aired on the disney channel today "Fibber" is too priceless.

Pleakley tells his mother that he is engaged so she'll call off some wedding she had set up for him. Lilo gets Nani to pretend to be Pleakley's bride. She backs out for good when his mother gets an ordained Las Vegas minister. So, on the wedding day, Pleakley has a new bride. Jumbina.

And Stitch in a top-hat and tails.

Freaking priceless.

Oh, God, I saw "Fibber" and "Amnesio" today.

:rollin

"Fibber" has got to be the gayest ep so far. :lol Definitely a keeper.

And Stitch in top hat and tails? :heart Sooooo adorable it hurt to watch!

Anyone else finding themselves hopping on the Jumba Love Train lately? I'm seriously loving me some Jumba now. I actually didn't care much for him in the movies, but since the series has been on, he's really grown on me. Even Pleakley (oh, sorry, Wendy :lol ) is growing on me and he was the about the only thing I didn't like in the first movie.

Random thoughts:

Any amount of Hamsterwheel is too much Hamsterwheel.

Ah...there is a reference to David being Nani's "boyfriend." Uh-huh. Right. Look how into David Nani seems. :rolleyes

Was Amnesio the first of the experiments that has actually made it to Hamsterwheel?

I just saw The Ring again the other day, and I paid closer attention to Samara, since I hadn't realized when I saw Lilo & Stitch that Daveigh Chase was that girl. It didn't freak me out too much, because Samara spoke more slowly than Lilo does. Samara talks like all Scary Creepy Girl, whereas Lilo speaks like a normal little girl who isn't trying to kill people. But it was still kind of odd.

Pleakley's sister - Bruce McCullough

Las Vegas minister - Dave Foley

There's going to be a special edition double dvd. I was grumbling about it, but I'm feeling a bit better.

And "Aunt Pleakley" dressed as an Elizabethan wench! Awesome!

Lilo & Stitch - Originally intended to have dual DVD

releases like Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Lilo got the

short-thrifted by a new management mandate telling

enforcing a single-disc release. The result was a

single-disc release, with more supplements than most

single-discs, but far short of a 2-disc Collector's Edition.

An audio commentary was supposedly recorded, and the

terrific but short fly-on-the-wall documentary that

appears on the current Lilo & Stitch DVD was surely

trimmed down from a more significant running time.

(Heck, even the A*Teens music video was trimmed down

to 1 minute.)

Editing because I finally saw Cannonball. Yay!

And Mr. Stenchy. heh

I love when Stitch was accidentally on purpose helping Gantu find the little stinker. A little devil Stitch popped up on one shoulder. And then another one popped up on the other shoulder and they both cheered him on. :rofl Too funny!

Oh I love Stitch!

Myrtle, not so much.
