I am a happy Kitten. S4 DVD's were delivered yesterday so I spent the night wallowing in Willow/Tara goodness. New Moon Rising....sigh. I'm bummed that Marti didn't do a commentary for that.

It was also great to hear Joss's thought process around "Restless" and what the theme's were etc. I won't spoil it for the rest of you but, suffice to say, it makes you marvel at the creativity of the man.

Everyone's watching S4 DVDs but me *cries* Damn being a poor uni student, I wanna watch these DVDs now. What are the extras like for those who have them? I found the featurettes on the first three seasons pretty interesting, so I hope the S4 ones are just as good.

"Lie to Me" on the U.S. Season 2 DVDs is edited.

I compared it to the tape I made of the episode when it first broadcasted on TV, and I found that a few lines were cut here and there. The FX-channel kind of cuts. If you're wondering what was cut from the original broadcast, just get the transcript from you-know-where and compare them.

Just got the S4 DVD. So far I've only seen Hush & NMR and it's money well spent (well, spending money is one of my most developed talents and favorite hobby). Interesting comments and features; a most welcome addition to my collection I would say. Just to say I'm well pleased :)

I got the season 2 DVDs today. While watching one of the features (on the sixth disk) about villains there is a part where cast and crew (mostly ASH) are talking about Spike’s character. Tony says something like… Spike was supposed to be killed off but we loved him so much we kept him around. That comment really made me B.I.T.T.E.R (but I hold nothing against ASH).

The DVD menus, the packaging, the booklet, the featurettes, the picture quality are all superb. The only thing that could make these disks any better would be any interviews with Aly. Clips from interviews with NB, ASH, JM and JW are included but I didn’t see Aly once damn it.

Oh but you know what.. no one will tell Joss not to kill an evil murdering vampire..cause ... the story calls for it.. wait..

Maybe the story can be compromised if it involves Spike.. just not the innocent lesbian.

The extras on the S4 DVD are really quite good. There is a S4 overview which features interviews with ASH, NB and Amber as well as mostly Joss and the other writers talking about S4. Still no Aly though :(

the commmentary for Hush is great and the way Joss talks about Amber made me yell at the TV "why did you just kill her off like that if you know she is a "mainstay" of the show?"

Bah is all I have to say about Spike.

Oh, all this talk about how wonderful the S4 DVDs are.... now I'm torn. Do I get them or the Xena DVDs which aren't likely to be around for much longer? (despite my hatred for a certain Taproot I still want the eps on DVD, my tapes suck). Again with my 'damn being a poor uni student'. Might have to just layby them together...

Hey, there's a question. Have our Aussie DVDs been edited from the original broadcasts? I haven't noticed anything myself, but I haven't watched all the episodes, just a few.

I haven't seen the season 4 ones yet (*crosses fingers that postie will deliver them tomorrow*) but I didn't notice any cuts in the first three seasons. It would have been hard to pick though, there's not really that much that they would need to edit out.

I have a question. I'm not sure if this has been asked or answered before. Does the Season 4 DVD's have extra W/T stuff? Like deleted scenes or outtakes?? I'm very, VERY curious. ;)

Re: Buffy DVD Thread

Postby MadeinNZ » Fri Jun 14, 2002 11:00 pm

The only specific W/T stuff is included in the commentaries for the episodes in which they appear. Joss talks quite extensively about them in the Hush commentary. There aren't any deleted scene's or outtakes which is really disappointing (I would kill for an outtake section). Again, the commentaries do give a bit of insight (like that Aly couldn't stop giggling when ASH did his singing scene in Restless) but that's about it. I think Joss mentioned in one of the earlier DVD commentaries that they don't do the outtake thing. Don't let this put you off though. The commentaries are still pretty interesting and jam packed with behind the scenes information.

Thanks MadeinNZ!!!!!

That totally sucks that there are no outtakes. I would kill for an outtake section too. :) I'm hoping that season 6 has some more goodies for us. It's sooooooooo long until season 6 comes out here though. It's very possible I may go crazy by then. ;)

I really wish they'd put in an outtakes section as well. Ah well.

I finally caved in today and bought the S4 DVDs. Who needs to pay bills... only watched the Hush commentary so far, and even then I couldn't help but get angry at how Joss called Tara a mainstay of the show.... but anyway. Still love that episode to death, and Amber looked very gorgeous. Off to watch the rest tonight.
