Aly in AP3: American Wedding

Anything about Willow & Tara, Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson.

Re: ALY in AP3?

Postby xita » Fri Aug 30, 2002 12:01 pm

Well I mean I am no fan of this type of movie really. And I withheld watching AP for a long time because of that. What separates this movie from say Porkey's or something is that the kids are sweet, they are just sex obsessed like kids will be sometimes, but there is an idea that sex when you love someone is way superior. And for all the sex-talk there is actually very little sex being had. I think Aly contributes a lot to the compassion of the film, if she wasn't in there I doubt they would come off as sympathetic.

American Wedding - it would seem to promise wackiness, doubts and temporary hitches and ultimately happy couples. Formulaic that might be, but actually I found myself caring about Michelle alot - which is probably due to Aly's performance - but her self-sacrifice in AP2 until she gets her own band geek was charming to me.

Not really appearing?

Postby Indygo » Mon Sep 02, 2002 8:24 am

Did anyone else hear the rumour that the first draft of the script for AP3 has been submitted and that ALL the female parts (including Michelle) have been written out?

That would just be a damn shame. If they are actually going to make this movie, they need at least some of the girls returning.

That was a very early script, before any of the talent signed. As it is the only ones confirmed to return and signed are Sean William Scott (Stiffler), Jason Biggs (Jim), Eugene Levy (Jim's dad), and Alyson Hannigan (Michelle). All the other female parts and even half the actors are not signed and unlikely to, though the producers say 1 or 2 might yet be cast.

*breathes sigh of relief*

Very glad to hear that. American Pie just wouldn't be right without Michelle!

I also loved Jessica (Natasha Lyonne's character) just for her pure common sense and sarcasm, but considering how little she appeared in AP2, I guess there really isn't much for her character to progress to even if they did manage to sign the actress to do it.

(I certainly won't miss Mena Suvari or Tara Reid if they don't come back.)

American Wedding

Postby Italiangirl » Mon Sep 02, 2002 10:25 pm

Here is this from the site Upcomingmovies.com:

Quote:
Release Date: August 1st, 2003

Title Note: (8/30/02) It's possible the final title might somehow work in "American Pie 3" (as a subtitle, etc.), but just "American Wedding" is what's currently on Universal's schedule.

MPAA Rating Note: (8/30/02) Nothing's official until the MPAA sees the final cut, but it's likely that this film will receive an R rating like the first two did.

Distributor: Universal Pictures

Cast: Jason Biggs (Jim Levinstein), Alyson Hannigan (Michelle Flaherty), Eugene Levy (Jim's Dad), Seann William Scott (Steve Stifler); other cast not announced yet.

Cast Notes: (8/30/02) Although most of the cast of American Pie returned for American Pie 2, that won't be the case this time around, with several of the characters not written into the script at all. We can expect, however, that Biggs, Hannigan, Levy and Scott are not the only cast to return.

There was also a 'net rumor (started at Moviehole) that Hugh Grant may also be coming aboard the franchise (after starring in About a Boy, which was directed by Chris and Paul Weitz, who are the producers of the AP series). The Grant story is completely unconfirmed at this point.

Director: Jesse Dylan (How High)

Screenwriter: Adam Herz (American Pie, American Pie 2)

Based Upon: This is, of course, the third (and possibly final) film in what may be a trilogy that started with 1999's American Pie (in which a group of high school friends tried to lose their collective virginity) and continued with American Pie 2 (in which those guys got back together for a summer vacation away from college).

Premise: The group of best friends from their days back at East Great Falls High reunite for the next great sexual adventure in their lives... a wedding (probably Jim and Michelle, but that's not confirmed as of 8/30/02). If there's a wedding, we can bet that Stifler (Scott) will be instrumental in orchestrating the correlating social event... the bachelor party.

Filming: Production is scheduled to start in January, 2003.

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Sequel

Official Series Site: AmericanPieMovie.com (nothing there yet about this third movie, as of 8/30/02)

I too agree that it would be no great loss if Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth, and Mena Suvari were absent from a sequel. I would like to see more of Natasha Lyonne, however, and also Danny Kaye Thomas and What's His Name that played Oz. I think the four men of the movie really had good comedic timing and worked well in their ensamble scenes. Just a thought.

Casting call for Michelle's sister

Postby Incarnadine » Sun Nov 10, 2002 12:48 am

Just a little update.

Alyson Hannigan: If you ever wanted to get close to this powerful witch from "Buffy's" world, November 23 is the date to remember. The casting folks in charge of American Wedding, the latest flick in the American Pie series, are looking for an 18 to 22-year-old actress to play Hannigan's sister in "Wedding". An opening casting call will be held that Saturday from 10:00am until 1:00pm on Stage 19 at the Universal Studios lot on 3900 Lankershim Boulevard in Universal City (enter at Gate 3 on Muddy Waters Drive). If you attend, be sure to carry a photo for the filmmakers to keep on file.

incarnadine, i love you. soooo much. this is massive information handiness for me.....world upsidedownnessturning now.

hmmmm.....what a lovely impetus.

peace.

Oh, wait, PSness: just got more info about the casting call. They're interested in "hot, gorgeous actresses" to play the role. she's a sex kitten. all eager to lose her virginity like the guys were in the first movie. i bet they want the quintessential 20 year old who can play 16, but looks like a runway model at the same time type. theyre also looking through models too. i betcha this one'll be cast based on face alone....not that that's surprising. i bet we can look forward to more bad acting from everyone in the cast but Aly! whoohoo!

Willow: It's horrible! That's me as a vampire? I'm so evil and... skanky. And I think I'm kinda gay.

I had heard that they were making a Pie 3 a while back but I'm super excited about it. I love Aly as Michelle. You just gotta love our band camp girl.

I hadn't heard about this casting call, though. Michelle's sister, huh? Interesting... I'll be interested to see if they can find someone who would actually pass as Aly's sister. I hate it when they cast people who look nothing like the star to play the role of a family member.

I saw the movie "Teaching Mrs Tingle" a month or so ago and one of the actresses (Marisa Coughlan) reminded me of Aly very strongly, both in her mannerisms and looks, at least in the movie, I just looked up a few pics from the movie:

movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=h...88&intl=us

movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=h...91&intl=us

The general link where I found the pics and in some of them the resemblance I saw has gone totally *poof*, oh well, can't win em all:

movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=h...mm&intl=us

Anyway, I could see her as Michelle's sister, at least judging from what I saw in Teaching Mrs Tingle.

Does anyone know who this is?

Postby willowlove » Fri Nov 22, 2002 2:17 pm

From the Hollywood Reporter:

'American' girl: Jones betrothed to Uni's 3rd 'Pie'

Nov. 22, 2002

January Jones, who has been seen in such features as "Bandits" and "The Glass House," has nabbed a role in "American Wedding," the third installment of Universal Pictures' successful "American Pie" franchise. Jones joins Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Eugene Levy and Alyson Hannigan in the Jesse Dylan-directed film, which was written by Adam Herz and is being produced by Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz, Zide/Perry toppers Warren Zide and Craig Perry, Chris Moore and Herz. Production on the film is scheduled to start in early January for an August release. Although the log line is being kept under wraps, Jones is known to be playing Hannigan's sister and the love interest to Scott's character. "American Pie" rolled out in July 1999 and went on to gross more than $102.6 million in the United States and Canada as well as taking in $132.9 million overseas, where it was distributed by Summit Entertainment. In August 2001, Universal released "American Pie 2," which earned more than $287.5 million worldwide. Jones, repped by UTA and Mosaic Media Group's Paul Nelson, next stars in "Anger Management" for Revolution Studios opposite Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, followed by a cameo in "Love Actually." Bob Dylan.

Postby Astral Weeks 2 » Fri Nov 22, 2002 4:21 pm

I can't believe that Bob Dylan's son is directing this film. His Dad must be so proud. Plus maybe he'll write a theme song like he did for Wonder Boys :)

I'm not overly enthusiastic about a second sequel but since I'm boycotting a certain show that shall not be named I am hungry for an Ally fix. At least the AP films are ultimately sweet-natured. Plus I'm curious to see Ally get a happy ending (Grrr,Argh) and I'm sure she'll look lovely in a wedding dress.

Some pie bits.

Postby Incarnadine » Sat Dec 07, 2002 9:41 am

January Jones has joined the cast of American Pie 3 (aka American Wedding). Jones will play Alison Hannigan's little sister. E! Online has the info, "In Wedding, Michelle (Hannigan) and Jim (Jason Biggs) decide to get married, and Jones, naturally, is one of her bridesmaids. She catches the eye of Stifler (Seann William Scott), who has his own matrimony issues. His mother, who has been continuing her affair with Finch, has decided to renew her vows with her husband, played this time around by Tim Allen (who I guess replaces Chris Penn--he got cut from AP2). But Stifler doesn't exactly come clean, as it were. He hasn't told Jones who he is, which, I'm afraid, could lead to more inappropriate intergenerational sex".

AMERICAN PIE shown to Muslims: "Decadence of Americans!

Postby CaptMurdock » Tue Dec 17, 2002 6:47 am

This is a link to a message thread on the Straight Dope "Great Debates" board regarding -- believe it or not -- a story from a European newspaper saying that fundamentalist Muslims are trying to indoctrinate their followers on the evils of "The Great Satan" (i.e. the USA) by showing films such as (get ready to roll your eyes) American Pie.

:spin :thud

However, if you can recover from the immediate lunacy, scroll down to a message by "Friar Ted." Here is a man after our own hearts. ;)

Many thanks for the link, CaptMurdock.

If true, this is very interesting, considering that they are in fact ignoring the long-standing tradition of arabic-language erotic literature, most famously the "Arabian Nights" (Sir Richard Burton's English translation was condemned as "pornographic" back in the 19th century [today his language seems somewhat flowery--my own favorite is his use of the phrase "hairy tout":D ]).
