Don's Plum

Postby xita » Thu Jun 13, 2002 12:28 pm

So this movie is now making the rounds at ebay. I got to see it (thanks rhiannongayle :) )

Anyway, yuck .. and yuck. It's a bad movie but worst of all is Leonardo's behavior in it. I understand a good chunk of this movie was improvised. Well let me tell you, I hurt for Amber, cause all he was so insulting to Amber's character. At least Amber got to unload with a bat and bust a car. I just.. wish she'd popped him one. He comes off as the ugliest kind of human garbage. No wonder he didn't want this to make it to America.

Officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Amber is in about 20 minutes of it towards the beginning. She is great, plays a hippie kinda chick. She of course beautiful Amber like and she speaks of masturbation :grin . Unfortunately a good deal of her part is spent with Leonardo calling her names.. and god I got so angry I wanted to punch his lights out.

bought it off of ebay and only watched it through ambers exit

because that's all I could stomach

amber was superb, did feel they gave her too little play in the "introspection/mirror scene" and she could have had a better outfit but wow she can sure swing a bat and has no problem talking about sexual gratification!

Ooh, what about the infamous shoe-throwing scene? Does that make it into the final cut? Do tell.

And was Tobey Maguire any good?

Is Don's Plum that movie that was made a while back with a really extensive and impressive cast, where the director basically had them improvise non-scripted scenes? Or am I confusing it with something else?

Wham, bam, slap-a-tag-on-my-toe, ma'am.

You know what is it with Amber and really bad movies? Is she just all "La lalalalala it's a paycheck!" - I realize that lesser known actors can't always be choosy but dear God. She's like little Miss Direct to Video these days. ;)

Does she realize the depths to which we must sink to eek out and view her performances? Does she realize that she's made lesbians watch the right wing religious PAX TV just to ferret out an episode of Promised Land?

And Aly doesn't have a lot of wiggle room on this issue either. I hang my head at having watched American Pie 2 in a moment of weakness on Spectravision in a hotel room. And let's not even get started on Beyond City Limits. Sometimes these girls just make it tough on their fans. ;)

Heh heh, straight to video doom. I know what you mean Autumn; it would be delicious to see "The Aly and Amber Thing" with both girls just walking around and chatting in every shot. Yum.

Well I'm glad you got a giggle off of it. Something needs to come of the fact that I watched dreck like S.F.W. just to see baby Amber's face on magazine covers at the end. I think she has like 3 lines in the whole damn icky icky movie.

Perhaps I should be thankful that at least The Crush is watchable and leave it at that.

I could barely stand to watch Amber get upset.

She should've taken that baseball bat back inside the restaurant with her.

Jeremy Sisto also needed to get smacked around for kicking her out of the car.

And, is it just me, or did Tobey Maguire look stoned through most of the movie?

But, Amber was still great in it.

Tommo, I know this is OT, but I have to ask. Where did the "squish squish squish" sig. of yours originate from? It reminds me of this part in an anime series called El Hazard. Just curious......

I'm not Ruth, nor do I play her on TV, but that is a line from Entropy. Anya says it in the montage where she is trying to get someone to curse Xander.

straight to video doom...

i know a girl in that movie and she hasn't been able to see the flick. how do you kittens manage it? hehe...

you know when you're a struggling actor any paycheck is good not matter how horrible the job. unfortunately this movie, from what i know about it, was made as a favor to the director. if you see the cast it's a lot of up and comers in it that wanted to do it not only for him but for themselves as well. i dont think anyone was even paid to work on it, it was exposure and them just having fun doing a film. What happened though is through the improvisation a lot of things were said and done that were very much like what they are like in real life. Tobey mentioned his bisexuality i think and Leo acted like the ass he is. then leo and tobey began to hit it big with titanic and the ice storm and they stopped the film from being released here as to not 'damage' their reputation. whatever. i cant stand either of them anyhow.

unfortunately a lot of movies sound good in a pitch or on script but then the filming process messes it up. i think that's what happened with Beyond and Don's and even Taboo. They do sound cool but from what those of you that have seen them say it looks as if something happened furing filming that made it pretty bad. i hate it when that happens.

and i have to admit i love American Pie 2. i hated the first one though so i dont know where that leaves me...

ps- would it be possible to get a clip of the film on the internet? i'm not part of any user group or such so i woudln't know where to look for a clip.

I will second the lovely Rane's request... can any clippage of Ms. Amber (preferably her masturbation diatribe : D ) be found on the Net?

If things need to be kept clandestine, feel free to email me at jsreisfeld@msn.com.

Muchas gracias amigos,

I rememberm watching something like a review of DiCaprio's life on Eh! some years ago ( I think it was the year of Titanic). I don't like him, but during the program they talked about Don's Plum and Amber made a tiny part saying that it was wonderful to work with Leo (she's a great person!! but I didn't believe her ) ;)

Anyway, does anybody know if we can find this video online? I tried some Dicaprio sites, but there was nothing (and I mean it) interesting. (sorry, leo's fans)

I'd love to see some clips of Amber in Don's, and I searched in Kazaa and Edonkey, but nothing.

And Rane, I liked AP2 more than the first part. Aly was sooo cute, and Natasha Lyonne too. Although, the wannabelesbians seemed a little disgusting to me.

Japanese posters

Postby tyche » Wed Aug 14, 2002 12:59 pm

I've long been trying to find some pics of Amber in this film, and the Google image search came up trumps. Both of these posters are in Japanese

Amber on left-hand side of poster - www.wingz.co.jp/cinewind/schedule/images/bokura.jpg

Amber at top left of poster - www.tbc-sendai.co.jp/tc_cinema/movie/image/anokoro.jpg

If the links above don't work, go to google.com, click on 'Images', type in 'Don's Plum' and they'll be on the first page. You'll also get lots of pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. (And also, bizarrely, an ashram in India where there's presumably some guy called Don who grows plums.)

And if you search on Dons Plum, you'll find an Amber-less Russian version of the poster - and the page it's on has Amber's name written in Russian! (I feel like such a geek for getting excited about this.) I always knew that taking Russian at school would come in handy some day...

[Willow] should have taken time out for a few minutes to slowly torture Xander for sounding like a Hallmark card on crack.
