Hi everyone. After having a crummy 2007 I decided to write a poem about letting go of the old and bringing in happy things for the new year a symbolic shedding of my 2007 skin one may say. If anyone else has any New years poems they want to post them feel free to do so here. My poem doesnt have a title bit it is this.

2008 turn back the clocks, change your fate
A year Anew a time for change,
To let the demons re-arrange
To let the angels cast some light
cleanse me of 2007 and that fright
Let me sleep,
Let me dream,
Make my days full of candy and cream,
Let me live,
Let me breathe
Let the darkness leave
Let me not dread the hours away
Let me laugh each and every day
Magic wisk my worries away
and keep all my shadows at bay
Let me get the old "me" back
Optimistic, hopeful full of love before the skies turned black
Instead of my days screaming of thunder
Let each second be filled with wonder
Let me spread my wings,
let me fly and soar
Give me lust for living, let me hunger for more
Let go of the confusion I have felt
Let my anger simply melt
Let happiness be my number one mission
To all feelings let me give submission
2008 let it be my year
Full of all the best and not a single tear.

Hope you liked it :) xxx

Hi,

I like poetry. When it rhymes or has a rhythmn it moves inside and when it's done well it's a truth distilled by beauty.

What I like is the image of spreading wings and of the sky turning to black. One beautiful image of freedom and another of great pain or trauma.

Thanks for writing.
