hey everyone. in this last two years i've written quite a lot of pieces of "poetry", if you could call it that. sometimes it's just crap, some other times i really felt what i was writing and i hold those poems close to my heart. i thought i would share some with all of you.

Author: Thianne (Vale)
Disclaimer: it's all original, all mine. if you want it (i can't imagine why, but....whatever) just tell me
Feedback: is very much appreciated
Note1: i translated it from the italian, and i hope it makes sense....even if probably it has lost some of the original..."spark"
Note2: it's the first time i post something i wrote so...please be gentle :-D
Note3: i forgot to put the date...this was written the 10-11-2005 (mm-dd-yyyy)

Non sono più

C’è chi mi dice
che muoio ogni giorno
un pochino di più.
Mi è stato detto che
vivo nel passato,
nelle vane speranze
e nei sogni impossibili.
C’è chi non si cura
del percorso interiore
del mio fragile cuore,
chi non vede
i passati chilometri,
le pietre miliari
che piangendo
ho lasciato indietro.
C’è chi non riconosce
gli ostacoli superati,
i dolori, gli affanni
cha prima ho patito.
C’è chi sminuisce,
ride, ferisce,
chi guarda e non vede
abbastanza
in quello che sono.
C’è chi sfotte,
sfrutta
gli antichi travagli
per rovinare
la serenità.
Non sono più
quella che ero una volta.
Ho tolto le lacrime
dalla mia tasca,
ho messo d’accordo
il cuore e la mente,
ho perso interesse
per ciò che non conta.
Chiunque tu sia,
che mi guardi negli occhi,
chiunque tu sia,
che per ignoranza non vedi
quanta strada ho percorso,
chiunque tu sia,
che con determinato odio
mi cerchi e colpisci,
ebbene ti dico:
non sono più
quella che ero una volta.

Translation: I'm not anymore

There’s people who tell me
That i die every day
A little more.
I’ve been told that
I live in the past,
In vain hopes
And impossible dreams.
There’s people who don’t care
About the inner process
Of my frail heart,
Who don’t see
The past kilometers,
The milestones
That i, crying,
Left behind.
There’s people whoo don’t recognize
The overcome obstacles,
The pains, the anxieties
That i had to suffer.
There’s people who lessen,
Laugh, wound,
Who look and don’t see
Enough
In what i am.
There’s people who mock,
Who take advantage
Of ancient trouble
To ruin
The serenity.
I’m not anymore
Who i was before.
I’ve moved the tears
From my pocket,
I’ve found an agreement
Between heart and mind,
I’ve lost interest
For what doesn’t count.
Whoever you are,
That looks me in the eyes,
Whoever you are,
That for ignorance don’t see
How much i walked,
Whoever you are,
That with determinated hatred
Search me and strike,
Well, i’m telling you:
I’m not anymore
Who i was before.

i hope y'all understand...let me know if you like. i will probably post some more after i translate it

Vale, I hope you'll forgive me, cos I didn't read the translation. When I can, I prefer to read the original version of anything so that I can appreciate it the way it was intended by the author, because as they say, "tradurre è un po' tradire".

This said, I loved your poem . Often, people have a fixed idea of who we are and it's hard to make them understand that yep, we're still us, but at the same time we have changed. Sometime the changes are subtle, sometime more dramatic, and it's hard to explain why we change to someone who's not aware of the catalysts of those changes. But we don't have explain everything to everyone, do we? :)

Thanks for sharing, I hope you'll post some more :)

Thanks to Barb, Spighy, Emms and SJ. there's not much i can say except that, and...i hope you like this one:

Disclaimer: same as before
Date: 01-27-06 (mm-dd-yyyy)
Note1: sorry, but this has no title. i wrote it for someone who was having some problems, but didn't want my help at the time. here we go:

Sei strana,
e non so che dire.
Stai male,
e non so che fare.
Piango in silenzio,
nascosta:
le mie lacrime non
invaderanno
la tua aura
di dolore privato.
Ti guardo,
e senza parole,
fuoco liquido
scivola
sulle mie guance.

Translation:

You're strange,
and i don't know what to say.
You're hurting,
and i don't know what to do.
I cry silently,
hidden:
my tears won't
invade
your aura
of private pain.
I look at you,
and without words,
liquid fire
slides
down my cheeks.

Btw, i'm pretty sure she's never read this. i never showed her, i mean, the purpose was not to intrude....let me know what you think, please.

hey vale... i'm finally able to catch up on this wonderful thread of yours.

I'm not anymore: beautiful... just beautiful! and the best part i love about it is that i can totally relate with the sentiment of the personal evolution one goes through in their life and how other people may react kindly or otherwise to said changes, and at the end of the day what's important is who you believe you are rather than what they think you should be.

untitled: another great one! i can practically palpate the feeling of helplessness you might have been going though on this very difficult time... desperate to ease this other person's pain but not knowing how to go about it.

bravo vale! :clap

Your touch

I don't know
how I was supposed
to stop myself.
I just didn't think,
and I felt,
and I soaked up
the sensations
of your hands
on my skin.
I'm sorry if I don't love you,
I'm sorry if you have doubts.
I'm sorry if you question yourself
for my selfish
need
to be touched.
I couldn't resist
your hands on my back,
your fingers on me,
the warm softness
of your caress.
I just had to have more.
More of your hands,
more of your warmth,
more of your friendship,
more of your touch,
on me.
I feel so alone
sometimes.
You took my solitude away
if only for an hour.
But still, I have to ask,
is the price too high?
Can we manage to forget?
Do I want to...?

Note1: this is still one of my old poems. i'm posting these, even if they're not exactly recent, because they're like written pics of how i felt, in particular circumstances.
Note2: again, i hope the translation is not too bad. i just found this particular poem very difficult to translate, cause i used , i.e., verbs that for us are transitive, and in english they aren't, or verbs that simply don't have a satisfying corresponding word in this language. so i apologize again if something doesn't sound right
Note3: just a little something: "i love you" can be platonic love (translated "ti voglio bene") or romantic love (translated "ti amo"). in this case it's obviously romantic love

Parole degne di te.

Ho cercato
poesie.
Ho sfogliato,
setacciato,
esminato
ogni libro.
Cercavo
parole
degne di te.
Non ne ho
trovato.
I poeti non sanno
cos'è l'amore.
Scherzano,
ridono,
sminuiscono tutto.
Non hanno
mai visto
te.
Gocce di bronzo
su una pelle perfetta,
l'amore del sole
nei tuoi occhi,
l'aria,
l'acqua,
la tua anima,
la luce.
Il buio,
sen non ci sei.
Il buio,
se te ne vai.
Non oso pensare
alla mia vita
senza te.
Grigia,
vuota,
inutile.
Strade
polverose e deserte,
i miei sorrisi
espressioni
di tristezza.
Non so
chi conosco,
chi vedo
di quello
che sei.
Non so
se l'amicizia,
il mio amore
dureranno ancora,
se ciò che mi sembra
sia così forte,
in realtà
lo è davvero.
Non mi pongo
queste domande,
dolcissimo
amore mio.
Ora,
adesso,
voglio solo
te.
Ora,
adesso,
voglio solo
amarti.
Ora,
adesso,
il mio cuore
è al tuo servizio.
Ora,
adesso,
ho bisogno di offrirti
tutta me stessa.
Ora,
adesso,
ti chiedo
di accettarmi,
amarmi,
volermi,
proteggermi.
Non so
se le mie parole,
alla fine,
sono degne
di te.
Forse
niente
lo è.
Penso però
che per renderle
tali
basterà
quest'ultimo
verso:
ti amo.

Words worthy of you.

I searched for
poems.
I sifted,
examined,
went through
every book.
I was searching for
words
worthy of you.
I couldn't
find any.
Poets don't know
what love is.
They joke,
laugh,
lessen everything.
They've never
seen
you.
Bronze drops
on a perfect skin,
the love of the Sun
in your eyes,
the air,
the water,
your soul,
the light.
Darkness,
if you'r not here.
Darkness,
if you go away.
I don't dare thinking
about my life
without you.
Grey,
empty,
useless.
Dusty and desert
streets,
my smiles
expressions
of sadness.
I don't know
who i know,
who i see
of what
you are.
I don't know if
the friendship,
my love
will last,
if what i think
is so strong
really is.
I don't ask myself
these questions,
my sweetest
love.
Now,
in this instant,
i just want
you.
Now,
in this instant,
i just want
to love you.
Now,
in this instant,
my heart
is at your service.
Now,
in this instant,
i need to offer you
all of me.
Now,
in this instant,
I ask you
to accept me,
love me,
want me,
protect me.
I don't know
if my words,
in the end,
are worthy
of you.
Maybe
nothing
is.
I think, though,
that to make them
worthy
will suffice
this last
verse:
i love you.

I absolutely love your poems, Vale. You have a real gift for them, sweetie.

I love your word choices, line breaks and tone. And I love the way you write about things everybody writes about but somehow are able to make what you're saying so different from anything else I've ever read. Your poem has great flow and measure. It's balanced. And it's minimalist, yet it says everything it needs to say.

This part really stuck something in me:

Quote:

Imaginary lover.

When i'm kissed
by the rays
of the Sun
I feel you
watching me.
When the wind
caresses
my skin
is your hand
I feel.
When I hear
music
is always your voice
in my head.
I'm overwhelmed
by sensation.
my fingertips
trace trails
of burning ice
on my hot
and tense
body.
Faster and harder,
'till i forget
my name.
Your touches
bring me pleasure.
Your words
bring me love.
Your soul
brings me peace.
But when I open
my eyes
all I see
is my empty room
while my spent
body
still remembers
the feeling
of your love.

Vale,

I know I haven't left feedback yet, it's one of my bad habits, sorry.

I want you to know that I absolutly love your poems. They are so filled with emotions and feelings, that it's tangible.

This last one was so poetic. It's probably something that we have all done, imagining who the perfect person for us would be just to realize that person does not yet exist or is not with-in our grasps. I have to say that reading these makes me forget how young you still are, and also, how mature for your age and how much your soul has already experienced.

Keep writing Vale, you certainly have a talent for it.

Anna :sigh

Emms: sweetie, you make me blush :blush i'm happy to hear that somehow i'm able to say the most common things differently from everyone else. that's what i try to do, usually, i try to use simple words, but i try also to accostate them in a way that seems new, and i'm glad you think i managed to do that. as for the line breaks...that was actually a thing i noticed, that my verses tend to be a little...fragmented. not that they don't flow naturally, it's just that i want to highlight certain words and so i write short verses. the pauses give the words a more powerful effect, in my opinion. thanks for reading sweetie, from such a talented writer, your words mean a lot to me. thank you.

Barb: thanks sweetie, i'm glad you like them. i value your opinion a lot :blush

Willowlover: hey, thanks! i'm glad you like my writings, i will certainly not stop writing! i'll update soon, i promise. i have a lot, i just have to choose. thanks for reading!

SJ: you're so laconic, but somehow you probably express more with a few words that a lot of people could with a thousand pages of writing. I'm always ecstatic when i find you've left feedback because you say exactly what you need to say, nothing else, and.....i guess i feel proud that my poems can make you write something, at all. makes sense? i don't know. but i love your feedback, so thanks. and thanks for reading, it means a lot to me

Anna: Hey babe! you said that my emotions and feelings are tangible....that's because i only write when i feel something inside me that seems to eat my heart from the inside. it can be extreme happiness, or extreme sadness, but when i feel something so powerful that i simply can't stand it, then i write. and i guess that's why you can feel my emotion in my poems. i try *shrugs*. anyway, thanks for reading, and for leaving me feedback *hugs*

Oh wow im late :blush sorry Vale heh!

I wish i had started reading sooner because oh. my. GOD. Your poems are so expressive! They're not just words you've put together, when read aloud the reader tends to really feel them, the last poem you posted- very smokey! Almost as if you're there and experiencing whats happening.

Great stuff! Keep it coming now okay? :-D

Stace xXx

ETA: I love it when you translate them too, I love attempting to read Italian just to realise i'm not italian BUT i bet it sounds so beautiful when its read aloud :blush :blush okay leaving now heeeh..

This last one really intrigued me.
It draws you in to read it from the very beginning, carries through, and ends just where many, if not all, of us have found ourselves before. :glasses
Thanks for sharing.

Untitled #2

i'm writing. how alien is it, now, to take the pen in my hand! i feel things difficult to explain. i see my open chest and an angel that licks my heart. i feel unsure and scared, and my skin only asks for your arms, your arms around me. i want safety, and i can't find it.

Tears of wax,
burning traces
on your evaporating
skin.
Streams
of liquid blood
slide
along your arms.
Where is the love?
Parted lips,
wet with saliva,
the sensuality
of your pain
kills me.
You're afraid
of the abysses
inside you,
and even if i can see them
in the mirror,
i don't care about
your supplicating eyes.
