So it's been an extremely long time since I've been to the Kitten. My life and my family have changed so very much since I started writing and sharing my work here. The last few years I've been volunteering with a local organization bringing support and educational programs to prevent suicide and to shine a light on depression. Every year Just Live, Inc. holds a music festival. This festival is their largest fundraising effort to support the programs. A few years ago I was volunteering at this festival and I met a mother who lost her child to suicide and her story crushed me. Her sorrow as a parent made me ache and I was overcome with sadness and the only way to deal with my pain was to write. I wrote a short story and began to share it with people, with adults and teens that might find something in the story that would create conversation. "Dear Kane; what I wish we would have said" is the title. It is a kindle book and is now available in paperback. It is about the relationship between a parent and a child. It is about hurt and bigotry and most importantly it is about courage. What I am most proud of is that I have partnered with Just Live, Inc. to share proceeds from the sale of this story with the non profit group. Every copy, electronic or paperback, generates a donation.
I have to also share my sincere gratitude with every Kitten that I've met over the years. I have lost touch with so many of you but please know that this place and all of the wonderful Kittens here made me a better human being. You taught me to speak up. You showed me that love is love and we all deserve to have it. Visit my website

Being... be brave.
