Urnie, these two updates are superb. I just want to state again how much I love your writing style and whether you write a fic, a short story, or anything else I’m sure I’ll adore it and I’ll be one of the first to eagerly read them.

I think ‘Snowflake’ is my favorite as well. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you for reading. It's so interesting that you'd like snowflake. That poem actually came from a conversation I had about the current U.S. president. I read it now and feel very different about the words. I love poetry for that.

Here's a little something that forced me from my bed at an insane time of night. I hope you like it.

Devotion

You tampered with the pattern

I had etched in stone

It was so hard

So thick

Your hands did not confront

With bands of force

But with soft tones

It was sad

Always believed

Walls could only crumble

With the harsh attack

Of hammer and chisel.

Awesome!! Powerful!!

Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more… He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew.. and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless Us, Every One!

Joy

dropped in

one spoonful followed another

licked off moist red lips

the taste caramelized

stuck to my soul

as I swallowed

down

it gave me substance

another spoonful

floated to the top

stirring

the cyclone pulled it

to the core

until it collapsed

into wonder

piercing ecstasy.

Hope that you enjoyed this new one. I shall thank you properly for the wonderful words of encouragement. They keep me going.

I discovered joy today after witnessing such sadness. This came from there. I hope that you enjoy it.

One minute more

I can not buy

what I desire most

The price

Has no measure

I can not make

What once was beautiful

The elements

Just don’t compare

If I could steal

Nothing would stop me

From taking more

But it would never be

What I had

I did not own it

And never did something so free

Fill me

Touch me

So deeply

For to short

And leave me so empty

In its absence

Abyss

disappear

from the light

swallowed entirely

the way your soul

now enjoys

being seen

in this place you dance

uninhibited

as you disolve

into the comfort

of shutting out

all the world

in your shadow

dark dark space

keep dancing

turning in solemn celebration

if you stay

in that place

none will ever see

the bright white

you've surrendered

to the darkness

lay down

alongside

each piece

peddle this

some will walk by

and stumble

over your waiting

nature

never rests

even when

the surface of the lake

is still

Urnnnnnnnnnnnnn offf Osirissssssssss! You are brilliant!! You're amazing!! What can I say? You're an excellent, writer, drawer, creator and poet! How do all of these things apply to your work?

Well, when I read your poems I don't see clumps of words that vaguely resemble something good, I see images and feelings and moments in my own life. You have the ability to draw people in on so many levels.

I reallllllllllly love that!

Ok, granted I just reviewed but I was reading through your other poems, and man, that one is bloody awesome! Short, too the point, but it is so descriptive!

Thanks for that Urnie!

Rachy, Wow! Again you give wonderful feedback. I appreciate how enthusiastically you reply. It always puts a smile on my face. We do know how the darkness is when that bright white has disappeared. It may be metaphor but some eventually experience such a vacant existence. I'm just shining a light. *grins*

Thanks to you three for leaving feedback. Each expression is deeply appreciated and knowing that you'll return to read encourages me to post when something new comes to mind.

Enjoy!

This illusion

sought diversely

Fists, signs

All waving with truth

We can walk for miles

Spouting words

Only half an ear or eye will notice

Doors still swing one direction

Locking out the lesser

Eyes pressing to glass

Wishing

To be of the few

Pray

but solitarily

so those words spoken

Cannot be twisted

And held up

Against your future

Your truth

Is not mine

But take what you can

bake the moistest dessert

Devour it gluttonously

While some starve

For theirs.

Few are blessed

With such abundance

ahh Urnieleh,

How I do love your poems! I reallllly enjoyed that one! My most commonly said phrase "don't I know it!" would definitely apply. I love how you take little things that are just wrong with this world and put them into poetry.

Good on you, oh talented one!

You're wonderful!!

Love you!

Thank you Rachy!!

I realized today how much freedom I have, to use bad grammar and punctuation, when I write poetry. Yay that! I suppose I should get a beta for this now though. :p

*waves to best beta ever*

Thanks for reading and sharing what you feel. I do appreciate it.

Enjoy!

Gratitude

I had a party today

It was for me

It wasn’t time to mourn

What was,

What seemed impossible.

There were candles

Each

Individually placed

As a celebration

Of what is.

There was one there for you

For the gift, that having you, has been

as I drew breath

to extinguish

I realized

That your presence

Might never have come

If I hid

From being

So I dedicated

a second candle

to that.

A door closed

And I looked back

I almost missed

What was ahead

So caught up

In losing

I lit

one more.

What an awesome poem. We can understand where it's coming from, it touched home, and you said it perfectly. I like the analogy of the candles, too. And what you lose by hiding.

You're the best friend ever Urnieleh! We love you!

Wow. I just sat here and read all your poems so far and I must say I'm quite impressed. I'm normally one of those people who reads poetry and just never understands what the person is talking about, but with yours it's like, I understand it, and it moves me! I love it!! Can't wait to read more.

To believe

An arrow’s flight is true

When nocked

And given forceful direction

This life

Will tumble against

The vibration

Never finding course

Until power

Settles it with purpose

nock me against the string

Pull with focused aim

Send me out

To target

What will give the world

The clearest mark.

Hey Sj, BV, Renee85, Yvonne and Rachy!

I wanted to thank you all for reading and for leaving feedback. I love poetry. It is wonderful that what the eye catches randomly, can swirl around in my head and spill out in here. Sometimes it is raw and painfully real and other times it is a a simple act of nature. Either way it speaks to you and I appreciate that you take the time to tell me that.

More soon.

Legislate everything

Until

I don’t exist

in your eyes

You will play

And make believe

Trolley around in bliss

While the huddled

Mass together

To stumble in your muddy tracks

You can write

But words are not actions

What I see in you

Illusions and mirrors

The reflection so distorted

But the magnet

Will always find steel

When you’ve taken

All that was once mine

I will shiver

naked and cold

but I will still be your fear

only stripped down

to what is

essential

sacred.
