Eyes Inward

Screams in the abyss

echoing vibrations substitute

the lack of love within a kiss

poisoning the grip, like rotten fruit

softening the stone of full hips

trapped within the wooden frame

choking on the crunchy sips

of glass from a shattered name

basking in the joy of inexperience

burying the innocense behind the wall

quarantined hope reaches from the fence

as eager ears listen for freedom’s call

scampering emotions hide in the cracks

of every hole in the same excuse

barefoot dreams slip on the backs

of past demons let loose

exiled chalk travel a curved line

scribbling on the contours of a blank face

swollen doors groan, shutting with time

stopping fragile tears in their place

rusted vents weaken the cries

grooves in the sand, fade to skin

sinking in the irises where guilt lies

pushing forward the pain from within

thick smiles reveal dark fears

barred lips swallow unspoken words

visions pause when reality nears

falling from the wings of broken birds

masks shift to fit the mold

insecurities make slaves of the mind

chains click when hope is sold

robbing the light and creating the blind.

Vows

lost words

the tongue is silent

but misery screams

witnessing kisses

has turned violent

silencing the lover

who dreams

tears become as ice

sweet words

a mother has sung

intoxicated joy

of falling rice

whispers of devotion

from the lung

gasping for approval

futures die

before they spark

behind chapels

of liberty

justice has left

in the dark

pursuing happiness

banned

burning on the edges

of democracy

only one love can exist

in this blind land

of hypocrisy.

In Three Weeks

I had known your soul

lost in the beauty of your curves

into the unknown confines

I spotted my goal

escaping into the small nerves

tumbling like liquid skies

into the depth of your emotions

Venus between your thighs

rising from the foaming oceans

wildly insane

I laughed into your kisses

dancing in the sweetness of your voice

when you whisper my name

it’s like a thousand wishes

granting my hearts’ choice

twenty-one days and I’m not yearning

for any signs of tomorrow

content here, I am returning

every touch you’ve let me borrow

dreams come within your arms

and I have seen what I seek

captivated by your eyes, your charms

wait for me on the fourth week.

Yvonne - I've so enjoyed reading your poetry. You capture the image of emotion in your words. The poems are really thought provoking and I'm drawn to read them over, because each time I do, I see something new, a little nuance I'd missed. I love reading poems that have this kind of depth, that draw you in. Your words and images are very powerful. I liked them all, but was really drawn to "Eyes Inward," - very striking on many levels. When I read your 'stuff' I'm always struck by the apparent ease with which the words flow, I don't know if this happens for you in the writing process (what's the saying, 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration), but it certainly reads and flows effortlessly.

Thanks so much for sharing these, they are wonderful!

Peace!!

Patches

You know I've heard about people like me. But I never made the connection. They walk one road to set them free, And find they've gone the wrong direction. But there's no need for turning back 'cause all roads lead to where I stand. And I believe I'll walk them all No matter what I may have planned

Thanks Renee85, SJ and Patches for the comments. BTW Patches, for me it's probably 60% perspiration and 40% inspiration. Boredom fits somewhere in there too.:)

Allure

Smear love upon my lips

trace my soul, my burning core

with glowing, phantom tips

and give me so much more

than I have ever given

my dreams, my life, my joy

by you, I am always driven

to be your admirable toy

to leave this old, dusty shelf

where I have sat and cried alone

trapped in the darkness within myself

you’ve made me search for home

I refuse to tip toe around your heart

on the outskirts of social morality

we’ve drifted together as the same part

both struggling to define our reality

I’ve lifted myself, but you’ve helped me climb

the rosebush, the ladder, the gate

the region between pause and time

between undying love and newborn hate

drawn to the place, where judgment is dead

I found you; my guidance in the dark

scars faded with everything you said

gentle words erasing each mark

you have read me like a closed book

summarizing the lines of my mind

like a willing fish, wiggling on your hook

it feels so good, I need to press rewind.

A Rose

A rose bleeds from within

Holding on to humanity

Soaked in pain, dipped in sin

Embracing its insanity

A rose bleeds from each petal

Running down its dirty thorn

Shedding hope, never to settle

As the dirt below begins to mourn

A rose bleeds from its weak stem

Acknowledging its demise

The crumbling of its leafy rim

Screams peace through its silent cries

A rose bleeds, unable to stand

Diseased within the earth

Blowing away with its fellow land

Dying before birth!

Reflections in the intro

In the limelight of grins

confessions move fast

blazing across translucent skins

where highs will never last

bottle the delirium, tightly

within furious sounds

pipe-dreams flow until empty

spilling on holy grounds

catching the caresses

dripping

as smiles struggle on split lips

exceeding limits

tipping

slowly running from stained fingertips

seeded souls

hide the truth of yesterday

love leaks into tiny holes

pleasuring the ripe decay

rid your mind of the images

deafen your ears from the screams

cleanse your soul of life’s blemishes

repent the sins of unwanted dreams

strangers to ourselves

fighting for the Sun’s affection

burning in water, stuck to nails

lost in the unseen reflection

It's the passion in a kiss that gives to it its sweetness; it is the affection in a kiss that sanctifies it.

Killing me

I lay bare

limp in your hands

strong, passionate

destructive

turn away my stare

claw until you rip

and fade

like dreams in

the mirror

where ghosts’ bleed

and debts are paid

and your face

is a blur

scream

no one will answer

your tries

beg

and I will return

your cries

give me flowers

before I close

the door and

hum the rhythm

of death

tortured by lines

count the hours

and hope I forgive

with my

last breath.

Here

Curtains don't hang in my window

there is no sun to sheild

no oats to sow

no flowers in the barren field

soak up the pain with a mop

when laughter dies in the throat

everythings dark, when you're not on top

crashing to the ground, when I thought I would float

loosen the punishing grip

mushroom clouds in the promised land

exposed, when my heart is stripped

suffocated in the hourglass sand

my smiles have harden into smirks

my words mute into silence

frozen where my tears lurk

and my joy settles into violence

nothing is new in this place, only fear

no morning skies to admire the blue

because there is no happiness here

here where there is no you

Musician

Feeling your soul, I sit back

quieting the beat of my heart

moments like these, I want you back

but the smallest rejection may tear me apart

I stare as your hands hypnotize the strings

if only that were me underneath those tips

closing my eyes, I memorize everything

like the exact spot where your dimples dip

smile for me. I see the corners of your lips tug

I took my first breath when I kissed you

that mouth; my potent drug

you nod as if you already knew

my breath holds at your every blink

holding like arms in the night

in the waves of your hair, I want to sink

what’s wrong about feeling this right

tears jump across my eyelashes

do you mind if I fiend for you; enjoy the rush

my face welcomes the quiet splashes

memories behind the iris, make angels blush

I catch your gaze and it speaks to me

questions burst from the lid

you wait, but I don’t want you to see

the crowded answers pleading for your bid

my heart pulls until taut

but it doesn’t break and crumble

your eyes, unfocused, trapped in thought

cords scream as your fingers fumble

lyrics sputter as time resumes

your trust; give me time to mend

love eats at me, it consumes

but I will wait for your song to end

Follow

Water will always drip and so I follow you

hoping you will lead me to tomorrow

over the horizon where oceans laugh

and clouds know my sorrow

I follow you

where kisses melt like snow

upon sun dried bodies

leaving myself behind

like leafs blowing in the morning of Spring

I follow you

where no one knows my name

and I am simply... simple

splashing with flourishing flowers

bathing where streams ripple

I follow you

where rainbows wrinkle

into the fabric of my heart of stone

and canyons crumble into the dusty promises

where Life was once grown

I follow you

where houses have no concrete

and toes sink into fresh mud

leaving signatures of eternal joy

to harden under the busy flood

Of journeys left unfinished

and walls stripped of limits

I follow you

where death is colorless

and birth is a reflection, endless in its night

where children scream with love

taking pleasure in silly fright

I follow you

where stuffed souls burst

with sweet warmth, running down valleys

where clear truth, quenches thirst

and spirits gather for rallies

I follow you

to absorb the secrets beyond boundaries

where grass has never lost its green

stuck in the dreams of hollow trees

where warnings in the sky are never seen

I follow you

where words spill with mystery

seeping deep into unworn skins

where history is Her Story

and the stars take pity and descend

I flow in you

flowing

falling

following

until we are both lost.

Confessions

Unmoving, daydreaming faces

foster broken hearts

pulling at fragile laces

until words fall apart

tumbling onto the tongue

swallowed and banished

shadows struggle before hung

repenting for what they wished

these devils change fantasies

riding the invisible mirror

drifting in marble seas

where helpless hands disappear

into smiles that wither and spoil

with dreams that melt to disease

verbs planting themselves in the soil

stretching and forced to squeeze

into the unblinking face of forever

left on the edge, perching

where souls are made to sever

breaking away, searching

under the black flame

teeth struggle to chew away

the fire in the oven of blame

while gazing upon the agony hidden away

shutting doors where meanings reside

and screaming at the gritty thoughts

where love and hate confide

in the blind eyes rubbed with salts

spit out, aligning across hungry palms

unraveling the threads of silence

veiled mouths murmur songs

of dirty futures refusing the tearful rinse

of cries tripling in echoes

and drowned in endless tomorrows

glamorized desires stiffen and pose

waiting to touch the temptress’ sorrows.
