After reading all the wonderful poems in the IE, I was inspired to post some of my own stuff. Feedback is welcome (if it sucks, just tell me to stop):)

*****

Another One

Silence whispers as we travel the walk

Only our stares follow

The clouds are white, like a child's chalk

The tremble of our gasp as we swallow

Raindrops drip upon the skin

Absorbed within each wrinkle

Standing strong among thy kin

As dirt below begins to crinkle

A slight pause and breath fades

Tiny tears align the lid

Frozen time among the glades

We stand alone; emotions hid

Coldness screams, a flower dies

Born in the midst of death's sound

We shed our pride among our cries

Another one lowered into the ground.

*****

This one's pretty short and simple.

***

Silence

Screaming silence

Silence of eternity

Eternity gasping

Gasping for sound

Sound expressing death

Death kisses life

Life disappears

Disappearing into purity

Pure silence!

Damn good idea that you've decided to share something, too! :grin

I loved your poems and especially "Silence"! I think it was simple but very smart with the end of the verse being the beginning of the next verse... very smart :clap

Please share more Yvonne! :whistle

Thanks Viv, I'm glad you liked them. "Silence" was originally longer, but I thought it sounded better shortened.:)

Kiwi6969- Thanks for reading. I know that I'm far from being a really great poet, but it helps to know that somebody likes my work.:)

SJ-Thanks for stoppin' in to comment on the poems!:)

Here's another one.

Her Smile

Her smile warmed the sun for hours

Penetrating every single inch

Stretching long, like the tallest towers

With her kiss, my thirst, she did quench.

Her smile could make a blind woman see

As unique and beautiful as the ocean

Like a thousand words in one memory

Streaming into my soul, like Aphrodite’s potion.

Her smile speaks through silence

As I embrace her words

Her laugh could cease all violence

Echoing like lyrical herds.

Her smile comforts my tears

I love each wrinkle upon her lip

Her smile overwhelms eternity’s years

I could spend forever with her smile upon my fingertip.

Her smile amongst my presence

Flooded; drowning all form of hate

Her smile brings light from eternal dense

And if I stared at her smile, I would welcome my fate.

I dream of her smile when asleep

I think of her smile when awake

Her amazing smile grows deep

And if I died today, her smile I would take.

I love the way that you compose your poems. The way that the rhymes are perfect, and how they just flow. Also, I must say that, you have one lucky lady. For you to have written such a beautiful poem about her smile alone. I can only imagine how beautiful a poem would be about her, as a whole.

****

Drugs

Soulful indignation

Sermons of some sort

Broken relation

Sins from each snort

Unknown images

Familiar sounds

Pus white blemishes

Forbidden grounds

Bubbling spoons

Thump the needle

First quarter moons

Juice from the beetle

Itching tongues

Salty tears

Fluid filled lungs

Tequila fears

Overflowing powder

Incisive hunger

New England clam chowder

We all feel younger

Sniff; sniff

Ignore the asphyxiation

Here, take a whiff

Enjoy nature’s creation!

Angel

She stands in the night

Piercing eyes like the moon

I’m mesmerized by this sight

Mysterious. Like the stones of a rune

Her lips like the petal of a rose

Her skin as soft as air

Visions of love she bestows

Her arrows of desire strips my soul bare

The second of her caress

The eternity within its feeling

Her every blink is like a guess

Eternal beauty worth stealing

Her wings spread; full

For nothing can capture her grace

Her voice in my ear, soft as wool

Her sweet lips, I struggle for a taste

Her laugh is like the sun, dipped in lime

So sweet, like drops of sin

Paralyzing existence and freezing time

Awakened by her kiss against my skin

Moans escape the prison of my tongue

She whispers. I hold my breath

Her lips capture the air from my lung

She is Heaven, and in her arms, I am Death.

I hope you guys don't mind me using the board to vent. This next poem is untitled, just some feelings.

**

Your lips pressed and were as stone

Words blew like paper within the storm

My soul aches beneath the bone

Like misplaced coldness among the warm

I gave you my soul

Wrapped in the innocense of youth

Dripping with hope and need

Seeking some sort of Truth

I gave you all I had to give

Remembering your sweet kiss upon the lip

You were the reason, I thought I had to live

My Heart; now broken in the cage above my hip

I wanted you to love me... as you loved him

Yet no trust; only pain came from these years

My love for you was filled to the brim

I could’ve fed a nation with the salt of my tears

But slowly, your kisses became curses

Your promises; empty lies

My dreams became nightmarish verses

My smiles became cries

You used me for my age and need to feel love

And at first, I didn’t believe; so into your lies- I dove

And though I pray to the stars above

I still can’t release myself from the web you’ve wove

I had denied myself to please you

Now ashamed of who I’ve become

I gave you a broken heart, for you to make anew

But you tore out my soul and left me numb

And though you have left, I’m not yet free

The damage is done, and I struggle to live

Begging, hoping that one day you’ll see

That you’ve destroyed the only love I had to give!

Thanks SJ and Wolfwynd for the feedback, I've also enjoyed reading both of your threads!

Here's a new one...also untitled.

***

Diseased concrete coats the playground

Blood on the dirt, blowing amongst the swings

Broken smiles struggle for sound

Eyes tear, faces freeze, and the bullet sings

Fingers brush the cold iron gate

Twisting like a crumbling flower trying to rise

Grasping for roots; drowning in hate

Time continues flying on unheard cries

Innocense is forgotten among the sheets

Souls linger, hollow and empty of peace

Small hands wield weapons in the streets

Laughter dies as the screams increase

Grass grows; bodies tremble and fall

Sanity is destroyed, the future is bleak

Shouts echo throughout the vacant hall

Gaping holes where knowledge leaks

Nicotine breaths of life-sized cartoons

Fragile minds have become media slaves

Digesting every flavor, like cocaine balloons

Lost spirits wade in shallow graves

Death goes unnoticed by the masses

Who only bother to care for themselves

Demons stalk behind stained glasses

Placing teddy bears on broken shelves

The world has flooded; filling with sin

Scattered dreams are left on the lawn

Yet nobody has asked the simple question

Where have all the children gone?

Dream

Cold breath

Frozen touch

Invisible

Colliding dreams

Parallel visions

Forsaken

Hidden death

Tight clutch

Miserable

Fading screams

Echoing collisions

Awaken

Thanks intricate mirage, SJ and Pacou for the kind words. Glad to know that I'm not boring ya'll with my poems.:)

*Untitled*

I taste your words

Swallowed

Hanging to my lung

Blackened like nicotine tar

Piercing my soul

I bleed

Gasping

Your words travel far

I touch your lips

Begging for the lies to fade

But you continue

Do you know what you do to me?

You know I love you

But I don’t want to give in

To temptations

Of lustful mortality

Intoxicated

Harsh breath beads frost

Upon my lip

Savoring the bitterness

Of your kiss

My dirty tears

Trapped in the lines

Of your fingertips

Your smile weakens me

Raised on home-grown sin

Unwilling to survive

The lies

But

Suffocating on forgiveness

I let you in.

Thanks intricate mirage, SJ and Pacou for the feedback. My last few poems, including this one, have been very scorn-based, but I’ll write something happy next time.:)

****

In the broken closet where dreams reside

I carefully took you from the dusty shelves

In the dirty bottle where secrets hide

We loved, but never forgave ourselves

Life peeked from the dark box

At the shell within my fingers

You were hidden away behind rusty locks

Yet the pain and memory still lingers

You try to speak with shallow beats

Echoing in the halls of emptiness

Stuck where love and hate always meets

My head cried no, but you screamed yes

Bleeding away in my palms

Like blood in the morning rainbow

Each drop remembers the sweet psalms

Of when you were friend rather than foe

You had been promised the world

But given an old, battered map

Forced to strangle yourself where the ribbon curled

You left the shredded pieces upon my lap

Too hard to repair into fine shape

I let you crumble into blackened ash

Taking with you, the worn bits of tape

You slid from me and into the trash

And slowly, you were replaced by stone

Hard and invisible to cupid’s dart

And in the abyss, I have risen alone

Because I’ve already said goodbye, to my heart.

Wait

When the earth turns to decay

When creatures cry

When the lost souls lay

And smoke falls from the rotten sky

I will wait!

When the moon hides

When the sun has vanished

When the trees die

And the flowers-banished

I will wait!

When laughs become screams

When pain becomes joy

When people invade their dreams

And guns cease to destroy

I will wait!

When familiar things are unknown

When hate and love disappear

When beauty and ugliness are never shown

And life becomes endless fear

I will wait!

When I fade and become as bone

When my home becomes like dirt

When my heart layers with stone

And I numb from any form of hurt

I will wait!

I will wait after society perishes and the earth dies

I will wait forever, just to once again, see your eyes!
