so yeah... thought i'd give this Inward Eye thing a go. I have a poetry thread on the pens, which some of you may be familiar with... if not you should be :lol

at any rate, i am a poet. not the best mind you, but i do have a strange love of playing with words. sometimes if i'm lucky, they play back.

oh and the thread title? tip of the hat to my favorite dragon. got the feeling she wanted me to name my thread on the pens that, but alas i'd already decided on dog years.

so here's the first attempt. for the love of anything leave me feedback. even if it's scathing... i could use it.

four women have made me

a fount

have made my pen flow such as this

to run out

miles and miles of ink

in pursuit of them

one meant nothing

was only

my youth riding as hard

as it could

one was the teacher

the opener of doors

the mona lisa

with whom i waited all night

for the sun

then came the one

i loved

i needed

i pursued

the one the one the one sure thing

the insane girl

the end of the world

now in hindsight

i can go back to her side

as a friend

and as stuck as i was

on the third

i've found a new goad

for my word-spinning ass

she is noble

she knows better as i do

but we both go on

as she does

a sense of calm

steadiness

saying no, yet following

working half

dreaming half

following

i am

afraid, but following

blue flowers along the road

*woof*

gently in your thread...Oh good. No wax on the floors. *whew* Okay, first off...you are an incredible poet and don't ever say any different. The dragon won't stand for it. *stern face* Second...as for your poem. *shakes head* Again, I am stunned. I have searched for the right words to say here but I just can't seem to find any that match the skill of your writing. *The dragon bows to you* A poet you are and a poet you shall always be. Perhaps one day I will be able to write on the same level as you do. Thank you for putting this thread up and especially for the name of the thread. *smiles* One of my better ideas, I must say...teehee...

PS..Please do not wax the floors of this thread. It is quite unseemly for me to land on my head. Thanks love.

Katy - heh.. thank you dear. as always, most pleased that you liked it. deep eh? don't know about that.

La Signora Dragon - you know... everytime you leave me feedback you claim speechlessness. now, my dear, seeing as to how well i know you... that must be a feat. i can attest to the fact that you are very rarely speechless. oh and by the way:

Quote:

Nice rhyme.:grin and yes i promise... no wax. maybe oil though...

SJ - well hey there. yep yep... decided to give this Inward Eye thing a go. glad you read... thrilled that you liked it.

now then, something new. not for me really. regarding situations that i hate watching replay whether it happens to me or anyone i happen to care about. bit of an inspired poem. be warned.... it's loooooong.

you deceived me

to be sure

let me believe in something so fantastic

i should have died

it's no grace of mine

that i live

you led me on

let me believe

you gave me lies and i must say

maybe i asked you to

maybe it was my doing

i think i always knew

from the first meeting

eyes from somewhere not real

the hiding of my own

the quiet, the fear

i think i knew it then, but

i could not name it

you were the one i meant to find

and i let you go

at times you'd come to me

when i slept

or on the day

you brought her by

i think i knew it then

i know you never did

but i hid my eyes, my intentions

for fear you'd know

for fear you'd see the thoughts

swirling in my head

because if you knew

then my mind's slight grip

upon my heart would be loosed

so that you would hear it beating

i was strong

i stayed on my side

but i think i knew

and wanted no confirmation

then you spoke

came around

dropped your hints

and had no idea what you were doing

no idea of the power you

wielded carelessly

i think i knew

but my mind lost its grip

on my heart

you heard it beating

thought it was your own

you listened to it

and thought it yours

i have no ill will for you

i have no desire to see where

you go now

because i know and

can't bear to see the way

your life moves

away from me

your perfect self

with that one human flaw

you didn't know

i couldn't give everything

and you didn't know the meaning

of my words

you let my heart sound for your own

and said you were in love

maybe you fooled me

maybe i fooled you

maybe i should have just known

but i got my golden moment with you

and i'll never trade it in

i will never release

the memory of your lips

or hands

or eyes

but let me not see

those same eyes

viewing me indifferently

but seeing her

the way i thought was mine

let me not see

you going aimlessly away

let me not know

how you don't need

or love

or want

or think of me

for a time the not knowing will

hurt me more

but in the end

my lies will be less painful

than yours

you deceived me

to be sure

and i let you

go free and let me die in it

knowing you live

and celebrating that

*pants*

The dragon comes in for a landing. Sliding across the well oiled floor, Stopping upside down against a door. Bulldog, this simply will not do, says the upside down dragon. What is next? Super glue?

The dragon rights herself. Now my dear for your words so eloquently written here. I fully understand the *pants* at the end. My goodness, that is quite a moment you had there. I loved it. So strong, so powerful, so raw. I would pick out some quotes but there are just too many of them. Incredible writing my dear, absolutely incredible.

alright replies to all three of you.. thank goodness there aren't any more of you guys, we wouldn't have enough party favors to go around. (heh.. party favors:devil )

Katy - note to self, "don't use the word deep in front of Katy and not expect her to wander off somewhere else with it." ahem... down girl! :boot glad you liked the poem. christ, but it was long. started to feel like i was typing just for the sake of more words. :lol

Der Dame Drache - yes it was quite a moment there wasn't it? thank you thank you thank you. and again.. nice rhyme:

Quote:
Bulldog, this simply will not do..... What is next? Super glue?

:clap *eyeballs tube of crazy glue* heh.

SJ -
Quote:
Powerful words
heh.. thanks.. they work out :lol

and with that done, here's something new. much much shorter. thought i'd keep it nice and simple, but it's kinda crap. apologies.

i wonder if you look

like i do

i wonder if you're checking

again and again

for some small thing

first dismissed

or something new

that looks like nothing

but we understand

i think i'll change it so

if you seek you will find something

i monopolize the line

"for you"

but i am not fooled into believing it

"for you" really means

"for me"

Katy - yay for no beating with sticks! beatings are generally bad things. drifted off to another place eh? well... let me know when you get back.. might just end up missing you. :kiss

SJ - Thank you thank you... :grin

and something new....

i don't want to write today

there are things to do before i go

there are miles to go when i awaken

soon enough it will be late and i'll need my sleep

i don't want to write today

it's just another chance

to try to type the picture that is you

to try to get these words to be

as beautiful as your voice

i go to you tomorrow

i should rest now, so i have more hours there

but i feel it today

without you, i feel it

there is some calm

or maybe only sleepiness

in an hour there may be a dinner

in a day there will be you

but i feel you and i hope that where you are

you feel me too

but i don't want to write

it's such a silly thing

to think i could tell the world about

what i horde away for myself

thoughts? comments? questions? stones to throw?

*woof*

thanks you two. got something new here... little rough yet... might get adjusted later.

i don't think

there's any way to tell her

sometimes i wonder if i need to speak

i think if she looks at me

she'll know

i have to laugh at how that used to be

a frightening thing

i have to smile

remembering to try

not to touch too often or stare

to maybe not let it show so much

when i glance at her

have her know

that i have thoughts

that might leave her wide-eyed

i have to laugh at myself

knowing there is likely nothing to fear

that i should try to be brave

so i have

set my mind to a new task

i have to never stop taking care

only now it's not a careful sort of avoidance

now i have to take care of her heart

i still must think before i speak

i still have to do the right things

only now it isn't choosing words

i think though

that now i have to be more careful

than i ever have before

i don't think

there's any way to tell her

sometimes i wonder if i need to speak

she couldn't see me every night

but i think

i think that if she looks at me

she'll know

been a bit but i thought i'd reply to the feedback-type stuff and throw something new in here.

Katy - yep, you and your stock reply *shakes head* eh, well, at least it's dependable that way. speechless? again? sometimes i wonder if that's good or bad. :p

RaiStarr - thanks for reading. glad you enjoyed it. new to the poetry thing eh? well it's good for you. builds strong bones and a healthy body.. oh wait.. that's milk isn't it? heh. as for reading more of my stuff.. well there's always more, i just can't seem to shut up at times.:lol

SJ - thank you. thank you.

FireFlyofDust - don't worry about being afraid to say things. i like to stay laid back. if you find you have something to say, then say it. if not, no worries. one replies when they feel the need and i think that works just fine. and the words? i don't find them.. they usually find me. as to your 'guess who?' well now, i'd say you're the type to make... oh say, "thinky faces". am i close? ;)

and with that done.. here's something new. little different from the usual fare, but it won't bite... at least i hope it won't. *looks for a muzzle just in case*

NOTE: i've removed the poem previously posted here... sorry... i don't want to look at it right now. it may get thrown back in due time.

questions? comments? visa? mastercard? i also take checks. (but not two-party)

*woof*

Edited: take something back and put something in it's place. ;)

and a new one.... it's been a long... oh whatever it's been...

strong

say the word

remember hers

and speak true

ignore resentment

abhor revenge

say the word

strong

replace that other weak

4-lettered thing

and say it

STRONG

more. than. you.

i have found

a bittersweet bed of false contentment

the laziness of knowing

there is no fight to win

of knowing there is only time

to overcome

not even carrying a judgement of this

good peace, bad peace

good piece, bad piece

all the same

as i always thought

and i stay strong

i say it

i stay it, inside of those 4 letters

the ones you were apparently mistaken

it's alright

it's just

alright

a let down

but i know

i am strong enough for us both

lying in bed

face leaking on these sheets

and i ignore it

for i've found

strength in answers i made up

for you give me none

bring this new restlessness

i try to give myself sleep, rest

and attempt to ignore

that question i can't conquer

so i must

stay strong

stay true

be everything
