Ok, I am feeling especially couragous and impulsive today, so with the permission of my Ladylove, for whom these were written, I am posting a poem or two. If I continue to feel brave, I may post more- there are lots more where these came from.

-Kat

Someday

Someday we’ll be free to show the world our love.

Someday we can walk through town together holding hands.

Someday I’ll be able to kiss you without wondering who’s watching.

Someday we’ll be free to say, “I love you.”

Someday we can look at each other and not hide the love in our eyes.

Someday I’ll be able to tell my parents I have a date, and hear them say, “Have fun with Steph.”

Someday there will be no more hiding.

Someday we will not have to be careful.

Someday we’ll live without regrets.

Someday I’ll be able to wake up and say to you, “Good morning, beautiful.”

And here's the other one, my personal favorite. I'm very proud of this one.

Angel

I love to listen to you sing

Angel of Music

I love to watch you while you sleep

Angel of Light

When I’m with you I always feel safe

Guardian Angel

People speak of

The voice of an angel

The face of an angel

The heart of an angel

You have all three

So what could you be

But my angel?

All for you, my love.

Hear that, baby? You're my always. -Willow (Tough Love)

Medicine, law, banking – these are necessary to sustain life. But poetry, romance. love, beauty? These are what we stay alive for!

So I was enjoying the creative works over on this part of the board. I have to admit that I read your poetry out of curiosity. I have certainly understood, from LC, how she adores you. I have seen the same passion in her works. I must say I enjoy the mirrored sentiment.

I know you have struggled to be together and the shared pain could easily become a wall yet you have built an amazing bridge to one another.

You cherish each other with amazing pride. One day I hope all of those dreams are reality for you and for so many others in love.

Be well

Firstly, I would like to second that wish that Urnie made. I too pray that one day all relationships, regardless of gender, are viewed as equal. That discrimination ceases and we are free to love who we choose.

Labels. The despised word here, and I understand why. I hate them with a passion, but what we don't seem to see sometimes is that our ways of fighting these labels actually enforce and widen the gap between 'lesbians' and heterosexuals'.

Your poems speak of being able to be. Just be two people in love. Outwardly and inwardly. I understand that craving very well, for it is one that I myself experience. I know the pain in it, and I also know the intense love behind it. Loving one person so much your entire being aches with it, like your heart might burst. How can the rest of the world not view it the way you do?

I pray that your wish comes true, Kat. I know how hard the road has to have been to be where you two are now. My best well wishes and hopes for the future.

Thank you very much for the poems!!

I must admit I had forgotten I'd even posted those poems, and was unaware until now that they'd gotten any reply. Thank you so much for your kind words and good wishes. In the face of political and family opposition, it's nice to know someone's rooting for us.

In June of 2003, I gritted my teeth, packed up my life (leaving behind everything that wouldn't fit in the minivan I bought for the purpose), and moved from Ohio to Texas to be with my beloved. I cannot say it has not been very hard. I gradually adjusted to life in a new place, without family or friends within six states of me, found a job (even one where I can be out), and began to piece together a new life. Stephanie and I are more in love than ever, and a few months ago, we got a cat, making us an official lesbian couple.

I still desperately miss my family and friends back home. I still haven't made any friends outside of work. It's been very difficult to get into school, and the plausability of juggling classes and work remains to be seen. Most of my belongings are still in my parents' attic; some have been disposed of without my consent. I still feel sometimes that I'm just a part of Stephanie's life, rather than having one of my own. In light of all this, you might ask me, was it all worth it? Is love really all you need?

In responce, in keeping with the original purpose of this post, I submit the following:

Early Morning

Blink

Yawn

Warm

Snuggle

Something soft under my cheek

Look up

An angel sleeps beside me

pinch

I’m awake

Not somewhere else

Not far away

Here, in our place

With you,

My beloved

Smile at you

Sleeping, so beautiful

Are you dreaming of me, my love?

Stroke your cheek

Kiss your hair

You sigh and smile

Still asleep

Contentment

Something soft under my cheek

Snuggle

Warm

Yawn

Blink

Dream

Peace and happiness to you all; may every one of you find your own true love.

-Kat

Here's another offering- if any of you have ever been in love with a true femme-princess, you know what I'm talking about...

Pussy Whipped

You always have to look just so

Your morning routine takes forever

While you’re still in curlers, I’m ready to go

And save me some hot water? Never.

You require almost constant attention

You’re very expensive to keep

Yawn. Oh, yes, did I fail to mention,

You babble forever before falling asleep

We always do whatever you want

You pout when things don’t go your way

I have to watch you primp and flaunt

Compliments on your hair are required each day

You’re the biggest drama queen of them all

Your thirst for attention never flags

You love to drag me all over the mall,

While I carry all the bags

I cannot ever gently correct

You wilt at the slightest rebuff

Sometimes you give me cause to suspect

You care about nothing but fluff

You say jump, I say how high

You drive me crazy; my nerves are shot

And even though I nag and sigh

Have I ever been happier? I think not.

That's all for now. Hope you like.

-Kat

The poems are great, they were a joy to read. I have a few poems myself but I don't think they're good enough to post here, I'm not much of a poet. :lol I can't seem to find my inspiration, I hear that's where alot of poets get their ideas, from inspiration.

So, great stuff and if there's more to read, and you say that there are, I'd love to see them. Keep on sharing. :party

I wrote this over a year ago, as a Christmas present for my beloved, the source of all my mush, which you all obviously enjoy or you wouldn't keep reading these poems. At the time, we often played the "I love you more" game, which was the inspiration for this, my attempt to win the game once and for all. I intended to post it then, and thought I had, but what the hell, better late than never.

How Do I Love You?

Bigger than the galaxy

Hotter than the sun

More actual than gravity

That's how I love you

Deeper than the ocean trenches

Wider than the sea

More colorful than all the fishes

That's how I love you

Higher than the highest peak

Faster than the wind

More plentiful than all the leaves

That's how I love you

Candid as a summer rain

Younger than the spring

More beautiful than winter's snow-scape

That's how I love you

Sweeter than a siren's song

Rarer than a nymph

More mythical than unicorns

That's how I love you

Brighter than the snow in starlight

Lilting as a song

More magical than fantasy

That's how I love you

Softer than a whisper

Joyous as a dream

More soothing than a lullaby

That's how I love you

Richer than a chocolate cake

Sparkling as a jewel

More wondrous than a wish come true

That's how I love you

Vibrant as my beating heart

Stronger than the test of time

Far longer than forever

That's how I love you

And that's enough sap for anyone for one day. Enjoy.

-Kat
