Just having a day. This made me feel better although I'm not sure why.

Living frost

Outside the window

There are traces

Footprints pressed into newly fallen snow

You’ve been here

I can see

I can touch your presence

I scorn the sun

Inch by inch

You'll wither til my eyes must strain

I damn the heat

For I know

By spring every trace of you will dissolve into the soil

I curse the mind

For I know soon

It will forget the joy outside the window.

Wonderful Osiris! Echo's a large Wow! Cool imagery.

You know I've heard about people like me. But I never made the connection. They walk one road to set them free, And find they've gone the wrong direction. But there's no need for turning back 'cause all roads lead to where I stand. And I believe I'll walk them all No matter what I may have planned

Oh Urnieleh, that was amazing. It's been so long since any of us have expressed ourselves in such a way. Good on you for being the first to reclaim the glory! And what a glory it was.

The phrases you used were so wonderful and so alive. Not only are the emotions behind your words heart-wrenching and real, but the images you give are ones that most anyone can relate to. Particularly during the yummy season of winter! Well done to you! I adored your usage of the window, the snow, and the coming of the spring. It's very original too because most people would use the winter as cold and bleak and the spring as life. You see things through blessed eyes. I also loved how you linked the reality of the seasons to thoughts in the mind. It's not just the footsteps physically melting, rather it is them fading in your memory. Just beautiful!

I understand how this would have made you feel better. Thank you for reminding me what a wonderful escape the world of poetry can be. Thank you for sharing this amazing part of you with us.

Mwa! I love you lots!!!!

Suzy - Thanks. Sometimes things pour out of you and it actually mirrors what you've been feeling. I adore poetry for that

Patches - Thank you, I've been reading some of your work and I must say how wonderful it is. Having you here to read my work is fantastic and greatly appreciated.

SJ - Clearly a kitten of few words. I will say thank you for them all.

Rachy - You darling kitten dear. What a fantastic review of this piece. Can you believe a year of poetry is all locked up inside. Who knew it would take a little ache of the heart to jump start it again. You know what a crap memory I have so this all seemed logical. I love you doll!!! Mwa!!

My latest piece...

Size and matter

I feel bigger

Because my ladder stretches over yours

I can press it hard into your spine

I climb

And I am better

But yours may one day rise

And I will feel

That same injury

Will I be as passive?

Our ladders could connect

If I wanted to share

the glory of reaching the top

It’s so lonely

Up here

On top

through your eyes I am small

Looking down on you

I feel bigger

Moosie,

So I read and re-read that poem. I kept trying to decide what words I could possibly say that would do it justice. Frankly, I was amazed by it.

You managed to, in only a few words, write about such a sensitive and true subject. It happens everyday in everything that we do; that strive to reach the top, be better than another. Be it in school or work or just general life. While we are up there, at the top, we feel good. Being up there makes us forget those lower than us on the ladder. It makes us disregard people who have helped us. Struggling to stay afloat in the ocean of life people often use others as buoys.

I loved your usage of the ladder. Saying how they 'can press it hard into your spine'. They have the ability to hurt so many people and sometimes they don't realise they are doing it or they just don't care. They don't see the people that are on the bottom of the ladder holding it up.

Quote:
"Our ladders could connect

If I wanted to share

the glory of reaching the top"

They are in a position where they could help others reach their goals. They are blessed in one way or another with the ability to save.

Quote:
"It’s so lonely

Up here

On top"

but then they don't. Often it doesn't make sense. Could be greed. Could be a blind eye. Deep down, they know that one day another ladder may raise higher than theirs, yet for the moment they feel bigger.

All your words are so beautiful. Each has it's purpose and reason for being there. Your writing is fantastic and really makes one think about life and the way people work.

Your ending was the most powerful of all. I loved how you showed that they may feel bigger and better because they have reached that rung but to all of the other people looking up at them, they are small. Being important to someone is not something that can be bought. You can't buy love. All that they achieved was distancing themselves from potential friends and alliances.

Beautiful poem Urnieleh. I must say that I am so glad you started writing poetry again. Well done to you!

I love you! Keep up the great work!!!

SJ - Thanks

Rachy - You really are a doll. There is great frustration in most of my current work. I'm sure that is farely easy to read. I adore your insightful replies. Thank you for taking the time to savor the words and move me equally with your appreciation. It makes writing worth it. Mwa!!!!

So on to the latest piece.

Civilly disobey

I raised my sign

And your rotten Christian fruit splattered

But my cheek turned

I peacefully held a hand

Stood strong

Smiled at the love

Felt

I was proud

Your outcries made it

Dirty

Evil followed

And your rotten Christian fruit splattered

But my cheek turned

And hands held tight

Strength of sturdy wills

Branches widen

For the opportunities of this world

Rooted

Passionate

You pull and pull

But steadfast linked

We stay

Unfaltering

And your rotten Christian fruit splattered

But my cheek turned

The numbers of

Love is

Outside Webster’s periphery

The passionate fruit

Originally defined

There is

What shall always survive

In the final

What true souls know

Your rights will not wrong.

As your rotten Christian fruit splattered

My cheek turned

With every whipping motion

My eyes

Dedicated beyond

The stain of your rotten Christian fruit.

That's all for today people. I hope you enjoyed it.

Here's something I wrote shortly after the death of a very dear friend.

How to make an American quilt

I am a square

On the ground, on the wall,

To you nothing more.

Who was I once?

Man, Woman, Child?

A someone... to someone... Somewhere.

And how am I here

On the ground, in a square?

Stitch by stitch,

sewn with needle and thread.

Beside me another,

Not sister, nor brother

Just another,

Man, Woman, Child.

I was born from a womb… Infected

I was loved by another…Infected

Affected forever

One cell at a time.

Do you see?

I am a square on the ground,

on the wall.

Listen when I say

I'm spread across this place.

Filling this, by a mile.

My life is measured eight feet by eight.

I am left now

With no more tomorrows

Always.

I'm a square on the ground, on the wall.

I am part of a name

A project for pieces

So many squares to be sewn.

Yet stitch by stitch

We’ve grown, day by day

Forever increasing

Eight feet by eight.

Don’t favor this position

Just linger upon

The grossly brief space I require

And now I am here

on the ground,

just a square

Yet another Man, Woman, Child !

Ravaged, devoured.

The noise in my head.

Your loving

Forges political liability

Your banded fingers

Chase the blissful to extremes

The wrench in the machine

Is a thumping heart shaped valentine

With intertwined northern poles.

The hazy shadow painted

Smudging the narrow line wide

Forced an aboriginal nation

Into sectioned square

Rotting waste.

A strong hand

Chains the weak

Lead into tortured servitude

Smudging lines to fit their needs

Into tattered shacks

Perforated libation

Spiders crawled across a continent

Spreading sickness

Worshipping intolerance

Forcing innocence into suffocation

Chambered sounds haunted surviving souls

Plastic Jesus

Toppled

Ceramic Buddha

Checkmates

Mohammed’s wooden form.

I must imagine

In the heavens

They despise this tournament

The jagged edges of fear

Rip across what is peaceful

These coarse scars

Are the wake

Of a few that hide

Your ringing is so offensive to such thin skin

When will the sectioned squares arrive

To chain

To chamber

To checkmate and stuff what frightens the frightened.

I'm feeling slightly out of sorts these days. Here's a slice of that.

Thanks to all of you that read.

LIVING

It’s battered

The crush of your fist

Has twisted and distorted the wiry frame

Numbness is the wake of your slow manipulative stirring.

Shake the crumbs

The wretched will be pleased

Such withering banner bleeds with saltless tears

Aching has bashed against all hope

Longing has twisted what was content

I wake no more with leaps of joy

Lust has maneuvered

Twisted through

Looming an intricate tether

Only the wicked can defy

Stand here among the bound

For there are no longer few

The mass has heightened

Weak, weak from despair

No longer gripping

Brushed and bruised from devastating vice

Your queue, certain support

To cripple

Drowning

I hated it

the way your love dripped,

i could swipe it

like the raindrops that cross my view

as i drive.

I loved it

the way your hatred seeped,

it thickened

like a pot of bubbling stew

as I stare.

I wanted it

each time the dark stench loomed,

it wafted endlessly

like mountains consumed by untamed fires

as I cry.

I ache for the way you intoxicate,

the way i can feel

without a single sensation,

twisting into the depths

as i yearn.

There is no boat

bouncing across the waves

as the ocean rocks

while the birds spiral

effortlessly

as I die.

Can I tell you how much I love your writing? How I missed your thread I will never know but I’m glad I finally caught up. All of your pieces are works of art. ‘How to make an American quilt’, ‘Living frost’, and your latest one titled ‘Drowning’ are just a few of my favorites right now. They’re just so powerful and expressive and I really love it. Please post more if you can, I’d love to read more. :)

Thanks R85. I appreciate the feedback. I've been in a very dark writing mood lately so you are getting poetry. When I'm in better spirits I write fic or short stories. I'm in the American midwest so the change of seasons brings much blechyness. Health issues just add to all of that. I'd expect you'll get your fill of my dark prose in the next few weeks. Things are looking kinda grey at the moment.

Hey BV, Thank you! Your words are very flattering. Sometimes I just don't know where it comes from but I do know it must be shared. I really do appreciate you kind words.

So here's another.

Snowflake

tatters about the edge

pens across pages

ink to flesh

flushed deep

penetration

the mark forbidden

the edge glides across the flattened stone

slick from the harsh cold

winter has come

taking all that warmed me

chilled to the core

tap across the hollow of the barkless trunk

who chose this

Whispers so elegant

sought it

shouted it out for all

just

a touch against my flesh

a weep

from the sky

Foam

Little bubble

it makes me smile

to watch you dance,

bouncing around the glassy rocks.

How the water moves you

on your tour

you brilliantly master

survival.

how I've been bounced

and spun wildly

I do hope

that I can navigate

the jagged rocks

undeflated,

and keep surviving

the mirror

of your journey.
