I really liked A Second Glance. It hits a personal chord with me because that's basically what I've been thinking for a long time about this certain person.

Keep it up.

ah, Glenda I relate so well to all of your poems... You capture those emotions I'm familiar with so well. Running into the ex with the new person, that's always awful. I guess you might say I was "lucky", as my ex did little else than look in my direction when it was over (rather than keeping in contact). I can't say either way would have been any easier.

Hang in there *hugs*

Glenda's Poems

Postby girlfriends actually » Mon Jun 21, 2004 11:42 pm

Thank you SJ, Yvonne, Dee, numbered words and Sam for reading my poetry and leaving my such nice feedback!! LM, thank you sweety :kiss . I’m really amazed at all the people who can relate to my poetry.

I dont really have a title for my latest poem yet but I would like to dedicate it to a special kitten who has helped and encouraged me with my poems. She’s kinda shy and doesnt want me to use her name but you know who you are. Thank you for all your help!!! :kiss1

The door to true love lies just over the hill with the promises of beauty and dreams fulfilled. But too many obstacles stand in the way as I try to break free from this personal hell and reach the golden gates to my destiny. My heart faints within me, my hands start to shake, and my frozen feet slowly give out beneath me… falling, stumbling, slipping… into the chasm, deep and wide, waiting to swallow me whole and steal all the dreams I hold so dear into the black depths never to return again.

Thanks for your continued positive feedback Dee, SJ, Lauren and Yvonne. And Lauren I’m glad you were able to “see” my poem as if you were there. That’s what I was aiming for.:) Hey Renee85 thank you I’m glad you like my poems. I hope you will like this next one as well.

Arctic Chill

Your heart is as cold as an arctic berg,

And the chill it produces freezes my blood.

I foolishly thought I could warm you up,

I tried to melt your soul,

But you opened your mouth and your razor-sharp tongue cut me to the bone.

Why does it take so long to understand that “love is blind?"

For it is only now that you’ve left me, that I can see the truth.

Can I ever really trust anyone enough to love again?

Now that you’ve broken in and massacred my tender heart

And left only broken shards of glass in its place?

Someday I’ll find a way to mend this broken dream

But for now I rot away in my own private hell,

Trying desperately to find my way back to the real world.

another good one! ^^ I particularly liked the "razor-sharp tongue" line. very active desc :D

I think the iceberg idea was unique too, cause you hear lots about the "ice queen" cliche and whatnot, but you took the notion and sorda ran off in your own direction with it ^^

Hey Glenda, I really enjoy reading your poetry. Arctic Chill is really good. Also I have to agree with everyone else, I really like A Second Glance. It seems a bit sinister if you read it a certain way, but I mean that in a good way. :) Keep up the good work!

Hey everybody!! I’ve been out of town for a coupla weeks due to a family emergency, but I just got back this morning. Everything is fine now. It’s nice to be home. My bed is calling me, but I thought it high time I nestle my way back into the kitten board first before you guys forget me.

.

Thanks SJ and Kristyn for your nice feedback

Lauren, thank you for your thoughts. they are very insightful :)

Krazy – What do you mean, sinister? Have you been reading my diary again? ;)

Okay, this is my newest poem. It reads more like a story than a poem, but tell me what you think.

Tears in the Rain

Quietly I sit by my window all alone in the dark waiting to see the first star

And just as it winks at me, no sooner have I made my wish,

than the sky clouds over, and I hear a rumbling in the distance.

Quietly at first, native drums perhaps?

As I try to sleep, the rumbling grows louder and louder, until it fills my ears.

A monster at my door, waits hungrily for me.

My heart pounds in my chest, and I wish you were here to hold me.

The rain beats heavily upon the roof, and I can’t stop thinking about you.

Soon my pillow is soaking wet, and the rain outside is my tears that are calling you in the wind.
