Nothingman's Other Artwork...Drawings (Will update soon!)

Postby Nothingman » Fri Apr 07, 2006 8:41 pm

Hey Everybody :wave

It has been a long while since I have posted any artwork on the board...
If it's ok with you guys I would like to share some of my other non Will/Tara drawings. I am going to start out posting a few things from several years ago cuz I never had the chance to share them then...and in the near future (hopefully) I'll post some newer stuff. I would appreciate any comments/constructive criticism that you guys are willing to share with me. These first few pics are pretty rough...and of course I am still learning and practicing also I apologize for the scans/photos...it's hard to get them to photograph like you want them too. :)

Ok...onto the art....

This first is sort of a random sketch...based loosely on Lexi from Beyond the City Limits. I didn't want to post this in the other thread just cuz I don't think it really resembles Aly all the much and it was more something that came out of my head at the moment. (oh, this one is charcoal)

Image

(Mods if you would prefer I move this one to the other thread just let me know...)

This second is another random sketch I did a year and a half ago or so of my roommate...it is very rough and done in pencil (which is still kind of new to me)

Image

Once again, thanks for taking a look. I promise to post more soon...so check back

Hi All

I'm back with some more artwork to share with you guys. This is an older piece as well...I promise to post some newer work soon!
This is a portrait of James Marsters that I did for a friend as a Birthday gift. I must admit that I love drawing faces but they are difficult...so every drawing is more practice.
Ok on to the drawing...

Image

Until more recently charcoal was my favorite medium but now I am starting to experiment more with pencil, I'll probably start posting more of those drawings soon.
Anyway...feel free to comment and let me know what you think...constructive criticism is always welcome, I can use the help. :)

Oh wow that's very beautiful! I love the chiseled effect. The structure of this piece is very strong and angular yet it's free-flowing at the same time. It's lovely.

Ok first off I must thank DreamLover.....
Thanks DreamLover!! :) I really appreciate you taking the time to comment, and I am glad you liked the JM drawing.

And now....

..finally a more recent drawing, done a couple of months ago. This one is pretty boring...I will admit. It's of a fork set on and leaning up against a mirror...which is why it looks like three forks. Anyhoo... the photo isn't too great. I'll try to get a better one soon and replace these next time I post.
I did this one is pencil (which I am kind of new at)

I like the lines and the shadows are great. They look real.

ps I think when Emms looks at that drawing...It makes her hungry.

hey my man nothingman! great new posted drawings! :clap :clap

james marsters: that's a great portrait you did! i find drawing faces hard to do as well... maybe because you really have to get the likeness to a tee (at least for me) or it just wouldn't work... i'm kinda OC that way.

fork: wow! i'm so envious! you were able to capture the shinyness fantastically! i wish i could!

fantastic drawings nothingman my man! more soon please!

later!

Hi all...sorry for the slow reply. As you probably have noticed I have not been online in a while. Looking at all the threads I have missed out on some great stuff! I need to get on it and leave some comments soon!

Hmmm now moving on...

Emms - thanks as always for taking the time to comment:) I am glad you like the forks. Thanks for commenting on the shiny aspect I was hoping that they would have the quality...since I thought the drawing was a little boring I made it a point to work on that aspect and make it as believable as possible...hopefully it was believable (I wonder if dreamlover was right?? :) )

DreamLover - thanks for commenting :) I'm glad you liked the drawing...plus I think you might have been right about Emms :P

tarebear - I'm a little OC too. I wish I could draw faces better...but it does take lots of a practice. I'm glad you like the JM drawing though. I think now looking back I would have worked more on the hair and ear etc, but at the time I just couldn't get it right and I knew my friend would be happy with it either way :) And the fork...the shinyness seems to be at hit! I'm glad everyone enjoyed it. Thanks for your comments.

SJ - Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

Hmmm ok I may not be clever with my replies but I am glad you liked the drawings and I always appreciate the comments! So thanks again.
It's about time I post something new. Check back in the next couple of days...I should have something by then.

Hey Guys

Sorry about not posting an update yet. I promise I did not forget. I haven't had a chance to finish what I was working on because my roommate had a little bit of a medical emergency the other day and I have been occupied with that situation. No worries she is ok now. I promise to have one up soon! Thanks for being patient.

Well...
Finally as promised another drawing. This is definitely not my best, but with all the crappy stuff that has been happening to me lately, I haven't had a lot of time, things have been so crazy at home...sorry it took me so long to get this up. I hope to put something better up soon.
This is another practice with pencil piece...

I really like the new drawings, sweetie! Very well done with the shadow placement and everything. Is this a still life drawing? I like the way you drew the leaves... the only thing I would suggest would be along the lines of contrast. This drawing would be even more interesting to look at if there was more of a difference between the light and dark values. As it stands right now you've kinda got this "gray" thing workin' for ya (which is cool, if that's the style you intended ) but it doesn't do anything to add 'life" to the peice...if that makes any sense...

I can't wait to see more of your work!

Actually I don't think the quality that you mentioned could take anything away from this last set. Nice artwork.

Hi Guys

I hope you are all well.

I am so sorry I have been away so long. Sometimes life takes us in weird directions...and that is where I have been in the last 2 months. Oh well.
I want to reply to everyone's comments on drawing I posted at the end of June, but I am sort of in a hurry to post this (since I should be working).
I wanted to thank you all for your comments though, and I promise I will be back, and I mean in the next couple of weeks :)

Thanks Guys!

Hi Everyone!

Yes, I am back, I have missed the board! Sorry I was away so long. Anyway, I have something I want to post soon, but it's not quite finished so for now I thought I would reply to some posts.

Emms & tarebear - Thank you both for posting and for your suggestions. tarebear I will definitely keep Emms suggestions in mind, you are right she is definitely an expert around here :) Thanks Emms, I really do appreciate the advice, I do see the gray issue more now that I look at it, I think on the next one I'll be a little more aware of that. To answer your question it was a still life, I have to say I was never really too happy with that one so I thought I would post to see what you guys thought.

SJ, DelWhicker &Thianne - Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look. It looks like you all like the pencil drawings...I'll try to post more of those. I have to admit I am still learning :) Thanks again.

barnabasvamp Thanks for the comment, much appreciated. I have to admit I am sort of anal so the photo quality tends to bug more than it should.

Thanks again to everyone! You guys are great!
I'll be back soon with another drawing. :)
