Evening all,

I can't help but buy DVDs. They're all shiny and lovely and full of extra features to keep geeky projectionists like me happy. I know my mother just rolls her eyes every time she comes to visit and sees that my movies have taken over yet another shelf in the house. Though I do like to point out to her as the DVD cases are smaller they take up less room than my VHS collection. It's just when I get the two together in the house that I start to get lost And she just doesn't get why I have two Alien boxsets. One's 5 discs the other is 9 - you figure it out I'm a geek, I should be taken out to pasture I know this, I know this

Astrangerhere - Requiem for a dream is stunning and an immensely powerful film. I have to admit I was in tears at the end - it's just the final shots of Ellen Burstyn that get me. Distressing but utterly compelling

Also I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of Gia, I bought it during my whole Angelina Jolie phase but I do appreciate the whole cinema vs. TV film constraint it worked under. I thought her performance was good but the editing left a little to be desired imho.

I have my eyes on more DVDs that I think would look nice on my shelves (hehe!) and am casually droppping hints to the gf about Valentine's Day

And Dr G I have Chance too. Bought for me for my birthday. It's not the best disc I have in my collection but it's not bad
