I'll probably see it at the end of May, after the season finale is shown in the US and I can buy season 3 on VCD off ebay!

Over here we just saw Prelude. Good ep, especially for Lauren hating!

It's sooooo nice to be loving Alias again!

I'm pretty sure tonight was the last ep before the finale. And I think it's a 3 week wait. Too long! But at least I'm really digging the show again.

So.... Finale.

Anyone watch?

I'm too lazy to look for the spoiler code and I'm not ever sure what I could say if I found it! And we have to wait until January for any new information. Dumb ABC schedule!

Season Four Premiere 1/5

Postby Gatito Grande » Wed Jan 05, 2005 11:49 pm

Well, that sucked. :miff

Oh, I'm not talking generally. It was OK, I guess, but not great.

But what sucked beyond the telling, is news that Irina Derevko (as embodied by the luscious Lena Olin) is dead.

I was brave when Sydney first said it: "Syd thinks her mother's dead: ho hum, where's the body?" But by the end of the ep (w/ Nadia in Russia, looking at her mother's crypt), Sydney made it clear that she DID see the body (and what a body! :( ).

So, barring the kind of implausibility Too Out There for even this show, it looks like LO's Irina is well-and-nigh gone. :sob

GG Why, dammit, why??? And I NO WAY believe that Irina would seriously try to have Sydney *killed*. No Freaking Way. :mad Out

I'll watch this show a bit longer, but it better do something to grab me, fast, or I might do that "Ooops, I missed it. Oooops, I missed it again!" bailing thing that I do . . .

I thought it was a rehash of a lot of things they'd done previously from Jack pulling up in the car to rescue Syd to the tearful clench with Vaughn at the end. The whole Irina is dead because Jack had to kill her to keep her from killing Sydney is a leap into the boneyard of bad plots that reminds me of another show that will not be named. It isn't smart to mess with audience favorites, or characters that they hope to see again , because it gives the audience a reason to stop watching the show. That and emotionally it makes no sense, and this show was barely making any last season . So much for TV geniuses.

OMG OMG OMG just found out some seriously good news about the show ANNA ESPINOSA is coming back :bounce :bounce :bounce I know its wrong to be this excited but come on no one can say that her and sids fights are the best ones and who would say no to hot girls rolling around on the floor certainly not me Also i like this rivalry cause it actually has a rivalry that existed before the whole series begin in the canon sense so it adds more depth

I finally watched my tape of the season premiere last night, and I thought it was... okay. The resolution of last season's cliffhanger wasn't done very well, and most of the "surprise twists" weren't very surprising. And I couldn't help noticing how many characters talked about "the old gang" being back together again. In Hollywood-speak, that's code for, "We're sorry we messed up the format! Please watch us again!"

But even with all that, it was still okay. I think I'm going to pass on it for now, though, because I've already got enough shows to keep track of in my schedule. Maybe I'll check it out again in the spring, when other shows are in reruns.

oh my god! i just saw the season finale, what the HELL? :thud
i wanna say it's a dream (or rather nightmare), but who knows? man, i'd heard all bad things about season 4, but it turns out i loved it! loved the addition of Nadia, the return of Sloane, the Marshall moments (when he saves Sydney after a scene a la Kill Bill vol. 2, pfffew!), the big bad, i knew something was up with Sophia!! and between Dixon and Chase hehe, but that's secondary, anyway...

and the finale, for a second there i thought i was watching "dawn of the dead" :lol

yay for Irina, i hope she'll be back!

and the ending... in case some people haven't seen it yet, i'll try the spoiler button:

Spoiler:
if the end sequence is not a dream, what's up with Vaughn not being Vaughn, and does it have anything to do with Rambaldi? (the reviewer at TWOP says that the ring has a Rambaldi symbol on it), and the accident? wooosh!!

by the way, what's up with Jack, wasn't he dying? did i miss something? lol

turns out i'm looking forward to season 5, i hope they won't start late like last year :pray lol

I agree, BFR: Alias made a very nice return to form over the course of the season (and I, who was so sure they hadn't allowed any wiggle room on Irina being alive, was SO HAPPY I was wrong!). Mia Maestro was a great (and HOT :drool) addition, and hubba-hubba, that new opening! (JG :thud -orama!)

. . . but I'm afraid I'm pretty sure I've got some bad new for you, on the late start thang. Both ABC w/ Alias and FOX w/ 24 were very pleased w/ the late start: they felt it held their audiences better, to not be interrupted w/ re-runs (because of the thriller nature of the shows, I think they're probably right). So, you're looking at January 2006, to find out what happens (don't think I need spoilers now, do I?) w/ "Vaughn" and the car crash . . .

GG In answer to your question re Jack: it was very complicated---surprise!---but Jack knew, buried in his subconscious, exactly the Right Doctor w/ the knowledge of radiation-sickness, in order to cure him. To find out the info, they had to hypnotize him, and make him think it was 1983, and in a truly DISTURBING turn, have Sydney play Laura (aka Irina). Talk about your Electra complex: Eeek! Out

Yeah, I forgot about the new opening, my friends didn't like it, but I love it :-D Have you noticed the moans that ponctuate it? It sounds like a Mylene Farmer remix! :lol Anyway...

I saw the episode about Jack hallucinating the doctor, but I didn't realise that finding him would resolve everything and that he would be able to cure Jack this fast... but yay!

I didn't know the reason for a late start was to avoid interruptions by re-runs, I though last year's was because Jennifer Garner had movie contracts... but okay I'll wait, there are other shows to keep me company :p

Cheers GG! :wave

It's over...

ABC's 'Alias' to end run after 5 years

Nov 23, 2005 — LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Alias," the ABC espionage drama starring Jennifer Garner as a sexy, globe-trotting secret agent, will end its prime-time run in May after five seasons on the air, the network said on Wednesday.

No reason was given for bringing the series to a close, but the show has declined sharply in the ratings since moving to a tougher time slot on Thursdays this season opposite the CBS reality hit "Survivor: Guatemala."

"Alias" also has undergone a creative make-over this season as producers wrote the real-life pregnancy of Garner into the show's story line.

It was not immediately clear what role, if any, Garner's impending motherhood played in the decision to conclude the series at the end of its fifth season. The Houston-born actress, 33, is married to Hollywood star Ben Affleck, her co-star in the 2003 comic book movie "Daredevil."

In a statement announcing the move, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson and executive producer Jeff Pinkner promised fans that the show would "rev up" for the remainder of the season as it heads for a climactic finale.

Garner has earned four back-to-back Emmy Award nominations for her role as super spy Sydney Bristow, a master of disguise who has chased terrorists and dodged danger in hot spots around the world, even finding time for occasional romance.

The CIA was so impressed by her character that Garner was enlisted last year to film a recruitment video for the agency on its employment Web site.

"Alias" enjoyed its biggest ratings success last season in a plum Wednesday night time slot following ABC's hit castaway thriller "Lost." But the show has struggled this fall on Thursday nights against "Survivor," averaging 7 million viewers a week, down from 10.3 million last season, according to Nielsen Media Research.

By comparison, "Survivor" tallied nearly 19 million viewers last week, giving Viacom Inc.-owned CBS control of its hour. ABC is a unit of the Walt Disney Co.

*tear* I watched this show from the first episode all the way to the last one. I'm quite sad that it's over now. But dang, that was actually a really good finale! They wrapped up a good number of open plot lines, brought back some good characters and gave us some satisfying backstories. 2 of my favorite 3 characters died which definately sucks but the way they were killed I can deal with.

I stopped watching Alias 3 or 4 episodes into Season 4 but it looks like I gave up on it too soon. Time to get the DVDs to see what I've been missing I think.

Oh my GOD, watch this if you like Alias. I laughed so hard I nearly cried. It's a 15-minute time investment, which I normally would not give, but it really caught my attention and I couldn't stop laughing.
