If These Walls Could Talk 2

Postby Shinnen » Thu Aug 26, 2004 10:13 am

Has anyone watched this ??? I'm watching the first couple in the movie... it's so sad. I'm gonna continue watching the movie.

ETA:- Instead of posting another... decided to add to this.

I finally finished watching all three parts. All three are emotionally strong. The second part was something I could related to, people trying to change how I am to fit into archetypes. Chloe Sevigny was very very cool.

She's the most amazing girl in the whole world. She's the only girl who makes my heart beat faster and slower at the same time. When I'm not with her, I'm not living. I'm not existing until I can hold her in my arms again.- hence i'm not here now

I have seen it. The first one is the saddest thing! So awful. :( It is all well worth the watch though.

Ironically, I just bought this DVD when I randomly saw it in the store.

I adore it, the first one makes me cry always, but the others are happy and sexy enough to make up for sadness.

I happily taped it a year or so ago: I'd been wanting to see it for ages.

Part One - Vanessa is such a goddess: she has more pathos, in the tiniest look or gesture, than most actors ever achieve in a career! This story will help one get over any nostalgia one might have ever had for the "good old days" in a hurry :spin

Part Two - A little bit over-the-top (plays into Limbaugh-like conceptions of lesbian-feminists as narrow-minded "feminazis" :happy ), yet still a great story (heh-heh: and inspirational to a semi/former/psuedo/quasi/whatever Drag King like myself :p ) Isn't it amazing how much better---and hotter---Chloe Sevigny looks as a butch, than she did as a femme in Boys Don't Cry? :grin

Part Three - my least favorite. Ellen DeG gives the best dramatic performance I've ever seen her in, but the story feels awfully formulaic. It's nice that Sharon Stone agreed to do the role, but couldn't she have given a little more weight to it? I found her more sexually convincing girl-on-girl in Basic Instinct! OK, j/k. But still . . .

Bottom-line: while wildly mixed in terms of quality, If These Walls Could Talk 2 is still a very worthwhile :clap sketch summary of far-too-ignored lesbian life---in every era. :pride

GG Love to see the equivalent of a "ITWCT3," to cover other periods of history: maybe the late 19th c., just as "women's romantic friendships" start to (in this case) turn sapphic? Maybe a WWII romance? And sumpthin' else. :hmm Out

I saw this movie about two years ago.. If I remember correctly I did like it I didn't think it was a really good movie, but I liked it.. Chloe Sevigny was great of course..

(I guess you take what you get when it comes to movies about lesbian relationships.. And this is a great idea, great thing to do..)
