Eliza's movie Soul Survivors

Postby Wright805 » Thu Aug 05, 2004 3:00 pm

I have a question I'd like to ask regarding this movie.

I haven't seen it, but I know Eliza's character is bisexual and she dies in the movie. I would like to see it because of Eliza, but I am concerned about it being an example of the 'dead lesbian' cliche. To anyone who has seen it, would you say it was clearly an example of the cliche or not? That is, was Eliza's character really treated 'fairly?' Is it worth seeing?

For anyone whose seen this movie, they should know that that's a difficult question to ask, cuz this movie was considered to be so bloody confusing!! :lol

I really enjoyed it however... of course, might have something to do with the fact that Eliza was indeed in it.;) And i wouldn't have said that her death was part of the 'dead lesbian' cliche really... it was just... part of the movie. Hard to explain really if you haven't actually seen the movie... but to answer the question, no. I wouldn't say it was a cliched death at all really... hope this helps.

No cliché

The death isn't really chiché, but the film itself is a bit shit. Very confusing and you can't really get into the storyline.

Thank you both very much.

I just saw the film and you're absolutely right. It is confusing. Eliza was great though.

Thanks again.

heehee, you know, everyone i know who has seen this movie thought it was SO confusing... lol. i didn't get it at first either... it does take watching it a second or third time for you to get the jist of the movie... but once you do, at least it makes sense;) Until then... you've got a wicked hot Eliza to focus your attention on. ;) Anyway, glad i could help.

From what I understood, the premise was that four people were involved in a car crash. The main character (Cassie) lived, as did her friends (Eliza and somebody else), but her boyfriend died.

What really happened was the friends died, the boyfriend lived and Cassie was in a coma. Everything that happens after the crash is basically a dream.

One thing I'm still unsure of; was it her friends' spirits that she was with in the dreamscape, or were they just figments of her imagination?

Same

That's what I got as well. I just don't like movies (or tv episodes) in which 'it was all a dream'. Kind of makes you feel like you wasted your time.

LOL - at first I thought - "Cool. I've gotta rent this movie."

Then I read the post with a synposis.

Then I went "OHHHH!! I saw this movie."

Duh, I had it figured out. Only took me one time to get through it. About 20 minutes in I knew what was going on.

If you do get it figured out the first time through or not - it is a very good movie. Great story line. Very much worth the watching. At least I thought so.

Eliza looked great, she played the part well. Ok ill admit, i screamed when i saw her and the whole girl on girl action...i was young, naive, and too stuck in her faith role...im over it and im thinkin eliza should do more of that! So the movie wasnt all that great, but hell, id watch anything with eliza!
