You're Fired - The Apprentice Thread

Postby Puff » Thu Mar 18, 2004 1:54 pm

This show is my guilty pleasure :) I love it. It's down to the final 6 and really time for one of the men to get fired again as it has only been women recently and the men seem to be ganging up against the women in the board room. I was sad to see Heidi go, it just fell apart for her last week. Amy is the strongest remaining woman and probably Nick from the men.

Does anyone else watch? Do you have a favorite to win? Is Donald Trumps hair a new species of life? Your guess is as good as mine.

So, the day started and I knew my name and had my pants on. So far, so good. Yay.

Dude, I am totally addicted to this show. I absolutely love Carolyn. She is the F-bomb. hehe

I think Nick is so smarmy. I don't like him at all. Amy is the best women left. I hate the other girl that's left...Katrina. blah. like Troy, Bill, and Kawme is just .....meh

I hope either Amy or Bill wins. Actually I think anyone but Katrina/Nick I would be happy.

Hi Puff!:bigwave

Along with Survivor, this show is my other reality show guilty pleasure. I really didn't like Donald Trump until I started watching this show. He cracks me up, but you're right, that hair is scary. I agree, lauriebear that Carolyn rocks.

I think it might come down to Troy, Amy and Nick. It seems like Trump really likes Nick, but I'm not impressed with him at all. His behavior during the restaurant job at Planet Hollywood was unbelievable. Since then, I think he's been lucky as the weeded out the rest of the dead weight.

I think the assignments are cool. I'm not sure the suite their staying in is big enough for all the egos these young people have. Some of them have made some remarkable achievements though, so I guess they have a right to feel proud and they're playing for a big prize.

Good heavens do I love this show. I watched it at the very beginning, lost it for a while, and jumped back in about 4 weeks ago. So last night's "recap" show was excellent for me.

The one thing this show has really taught me is that I could never be a business person. At least not one of those kind. I'm not assertive, dishonest, and schmoozy like almost all of the contestants have been. I mean, just listening to them at the initial meeting (the meet and greet with the Donald) made my stomach turn (especially Omorosa's speech... "I grew up in the projects of... and worked for the President..." man... :rolleyes )

I'd like to see Amy take it. I want to smack Katrina almost everytime she's on screen. I like Kwame, but I don't think he has what it takes to run one of the Donald's companies. Troy, as much as I hate to admit it, has kinda grown on me. But I don't want him to win. I couldn't stand Bill, even from the first episode. It chaffes my hide to see that he's still there. I think Nick is a pretty good candidate for running a company. And while I kinda liked Heidi, she had a tendency to be very disrespectful to people sometimes (a key example was when Caroline was talking her in the board room... not cool Heidi). And speaking of Caroline, she scares me. In a cool way. Alfred on the other side (I can't remember his real name... is it George?) kinda reminds me of an old dry-cleaner. Not intimidating at all. But that icy stare of Caroline's... *shudder*

Woo hoo Katrina got fired. Can I just say...what a bitch! Here's hoping that Nick manages to work with Amy for the next two weeks and then they will be in the final. Although Nick really needs to prove that he can work because frankly I haven't seen him do much. I've grown to like Bill. I don't think Kwame does anything and he is a terrible leader. Troy has a lot of good ideas but he's such a patronising piece of work and if I hear him mention Idaho one more time I might scream.

Troy... Ugggh! That guy grinds my last nerve. The way he was talking to the women in the casino. I would have knocked that smarmy grin off his face. What a little prick. I liked Amy until the last ep, she didn't impress me in the board room. If she ends up in there again she'll be gone. I think she leads well in a large group. It seems as though the more people she has beneath her the better she looks. Katrina is such a katty Biiiiiitch. All her bad mouthing, blech. I can't think of a single contestant that I've been impressed by. I would have said Amy all the way but her thing with Nick seems horribly unprofessional even if she's playing him, It makes her look seriously manipulative and kinda trashy. But what the hell do I know about NY and big business.

Troy got fired! I was actually pretty pleased that they fired him because he is so dishonest and smarmy. Kwame looks like he would never get hired though as he is moderate and never leads. Bill just likes to cause trouble going on about Nick and Amy on the plane to each other. Amy and Nick did really well although they were very lucky that person came back, I wouldn't say they work well together though.

I can't believe they fire 2 people next week. And they are bringing Omorossa (sp?) back. She's a bitch. I honestly think the final should be between Amy and Bill and overall I'd still like to see Amy win.

Well, Amy and Nick both got the axe yesterday... I think Omarosa was being a perfect bitch, but I've got this suspicion that she was planted as a foil to see how Kwame does in an emergency situation.

I have to say, I like Kwame. I liked Nick at the beginning, but I was glad to see him go in the end.

Poor Amy just doesn't interview well. I still think it would be better between her and Bill. Omorosa IS a bitch. Bill will probably win and Kwame really doesn't lead and Bill has impressed most people although I don't really like him.

It will be interesting to see how Bill and Kwame pull off their respective jobs. They both looked to be in over their heads when the show ended last night.

I, too, wondered if Omarosa was there to deliberately cause problems. If she isn't, then I don't know what the hell kind of game she was playing by not speaking up at dinner about the problem.

Amy sure did get bashed in her interviews. How many of them called her irritating and the one who thought she was a "Stepford wife" made me laugh.

I don't care much for Bill or Kwame, so I really have no interest in who wins now.

I really like Kwame. I think out of all of the contestants he is the one that reminds me most of the two sidekicks, George and Carolyn. I think Bill micromanages too much and after calling Nick "sweet" (gay) last ep I hope he loses gloriously. I hope Kwame gets it. Though he's go to take care of that wacko fast.

Ok, I have refrained from posting in this thread until now, because I don’t know enough about business, and therefore do not feel qualified to make judgments on who is doing the best job, but I do recognize a sham when I see one. Interesting that most of you believe that Omarosa was planted as a spy or a foil. I hadn’t thought of that. You’re probably right. I was just thinking maybe she had revenge on her mind, because when I look at her, all I see is a dragon. Behind that (most of the time) calm, cool exterior beats the heart of a dragon. She tries so hard to present herself as a classy, sophisticated professional, and she’s pretty successful in her presentation, but her eyes seem so hollow and void of humanity. Ok, let me get to the point. Does anybody remember the words she used on the episode in which she was fired? Right before it was time to go to the boardroom, in one of her private interviews, she stated that if Kwame took her to the boardroom, she was going to have to take him down. She came completely unraveled that night, though, and dug her own grave. So since she got fired, I didn’t think too much about her words, because she left, and he stayed, but after seeing how she’s messing things up for Kwame now in his final assignment, it’s seems clear to me that she was very serious. Unfortunately, she’s been given the opportunity to wield her revenge by ruining things for Kwame now when everything is at stake. I’m really interested to see how he handles this situation. This woman scares the hell out of me. The way she was just dismissing Diane when she was explaining that there was a mix-up as to what time Jessica Simpson’s flight was supposed to arrive. Then just continuing with her meal as if nothing was wrong and not even explaining to her teammates, especially Kwame, what was going on, even though they asked her. Then she had the nerve to lie to Kwame when Diane called the next day, and tell him that she had not spoken to Diane directly the night before, but had only been given a message to call Diane. Her whole act of innocence and pretending like she doesn’t understand what’s going on around her is so phony. I have met three other women like Omarosa in my life, and none of them have been pleasant experiences.

That said, I really don’t care who wins. The two finalists, Kwame and Bill, both have such dull personalities as far as I’m concerned, but maybe that’s what it takes to run a multi-million dollar company. I don’t know. It’s just that Kwame reminds me of a toad, and Bill reminds me of a lizard. My favorite contestants, personality-wise were Jessie, Troy, and Sam. (Sam was a little scary and intense, but definitely entertaining to watch.) Bowie was pretty cool too, but I did not like Tammy at all, and Katrina was just annoying. My feelings about Heidi were mixed from one week to the next. Amy was just eye candy, although I was very impressed with some of her ideas, (especially the advertising on the rickshaws) but the rest of the contestants really left no impression on me at all. But from the beginning, I really expected that Nick was going to win this game. So, them’s me thoughts.

Bill got hired, although there really wasn't very much of a surprise in that. I hope Amy gets a good job from out of this show and I hope that Omorossa never gets hired again.

NBC is giving us more of "The Apprentice" and another series from it's producer:

2004 Broadcast Upfront Presentations: NBC
Quote:
In addition, the network will feature ..."The Contender," the next great unscripted drama from the creator of "The Apprentice" and "Survivor" -- Mark Burnett. The driving force behind the series will be the pursuit of the American dream and the natural trials, tribulations and heartbreak inherent in that quest.

...

The legendary "Must-See" Thursday schedule takes on a new viewer-friendly face with the series premiere of "Joey" - starring Matt LeBlanc as he reprises his role as Joey Tribbiani from "Friends" - from 8-8:30 p.m. (ET) followed by the Emmy-winning "Will & Grace" (8:30-9 p.m. ET), the #2 comedy in the 18-49 demo behind only "Friends" in each of the last four seasons. Next up is the current season's biggest monster hit, "The Apprentice 2" - which bolted to become the #1 new series among the 18-49 set - and stars business and media colossus Donald Trump.
Mark Burnett is also doing shows for the WB:

The WB Wants Young People
Quote:
Today, we learned that Burnett would have three new shows on The WB. There's "Commando Nanny," a comedy loosely based on the former special-forces soldier's experience as a nanny in L.A. (He's been taking dramatic license with other people's stories on "Survivor" for years, so fair's fair.) There's "Global Frequency," a drama about a super-secret intelligence agency that, in the network PR department's words, seeks to "prevent international politics from undermining the security of the global community," which would make a great rationalization if we ever decide to forcibly seize the UN building. And there's what The WB simply described as an "upcoming reality project," which is television-speak for "We have no idea what he's going to do, and maybe he doesn't either, but he's on a roll, so we backed up the money truck for him anyway."
