Tomorrow People (original show)

Any fans out there? What's your favorite series? Who's your favorite character? Any juicy tidbits that you gleened from listening to the DVD director's commentaries?

My favorite as a child was "Rift in Time". I'm a sucker for "change the time line" stories. My favorite character was TYSO. And I think that the checker board jaunting belts are far superior to both the other version and the wrist band jaunters.

I've never seen it, but I worked for its creator Roger Price when he came over to North America and did Nickelodeon's You Can't Do That On Television. :shy

I used to watch that show when I was a kid. I'm amazed at (looking back) how minimalistic Roger Price shows were. Maybe it was just the time period, but he got a lot of mileage out of a row of lockers and a couple of tables set up to look like Barf's. Do you know why they rotated so many young stars in and out of that show?

Also, do you remember UFO KIDNAPPED? Did it really exist? I seem to remember the kids from YCDTOT, Alastar and Christine maybe getting sucked onto an alien ship. Why? Fill me in oh connected one.

"Minimalistic" is just a fancy way of saying "cheap." :p

There were a few reasons why so many kids rotated through You Can't Do That On Television. First and foremost, kids grow up - especially boys. They never made more than 13 episodes at a stretch, and during the months in-between kids grew up, moved away, lost interest, etc.

And yes, there really was a show called UFO Kidnapped, starring Alasdair Gillis and Kevin Kubucheskie. It was CJOH-TV's attempt at a "backdoor pilot" that never really went anywhere. I heard all about it from Alasdair when I was working on YCDTOTV.

And now I'd better shut up before this becomes a You Can't Do That On Television thread. :shy
