Oh my. Those were grim Thursday postings last week. May this one be better.

Well... I have good news here. It rained. Not on Thursday, I grant you, but it rained this week. Hasn't done that in any quantity since.... I can't remember. Perhaps when we got the remnants of T.S. Isaac? A good long while ago at least.

It's cold as anything now and all that rain has turned to ice, but again.... I'm not complaining.

I have spent the day trashing my "poor sainted mother"'s house by using the second floor as a germination chamber for vegetable starts, her dining room table as a seeding space and her bathroom to water them all. I love my mom; she just hands me a glass of wine and offers to help.

So here is a Thursday toast to my Mom. Cheers. Hope you all have someone so great to toast too.

Boschi

Glad someone is having a good Thursday out there. Not gonna lie, I'm struggling. My mother is in intensive care with a very long list of problems that have gradually gotten worse since last September. Looks like she's going to pull through again, but her mind is a little messed up now, either from the infection she's fighting off or the heavy drugs they've had to give her.

Then found out earlier this week my uncle (mother's brother) - who I'm named after - is losing his battle with cancer. We were all under the impression he'd had it beat, but he wasn't being totally honest with us. His doctors have told him there's nothing further they can do, so he's gone to Mayo for some kind of experimental treatment. My aunt called and finally told us because she thought it was time for the immediate family to know. We can't tell him about mom's condition because he'd want to come down here and he can't. We can't tell mom about his condition because psychologically she really couldn't handle news like that just now.

After all that, this is going to sound horribly selfish ... but I had a fight with mrs. gorn and I'm feeling sorry for myself now. We're both under a lot of stress, I know, but I really, really, really just wanted someone to hold me. That sounds as pathetic as it probably is, but this fight - over nothing in particular, just the two of us being bitchy - has left me feeling like a kicked dog. Everyone always brings their problems to me, always needs me to pick them up, help them when they're down ... and when I really needed someone now, no one was there for me.

I feel worse now for feeling like this. My father is spending the night in the hospital next to my mother, spends every day there, and I never hear him complain. I shouldn't complain, either.

I don't like writing posts like this, I'd rather write about Boschi's wine and indoor garden. But it's Thursday, and I didn't have anywhere else to go.

Next week will be better, MKF.

Happy Thursday everyone! I am very proud of myself for being here, because honestly, most of my days sort of run together and I keep missing posting. Hope everyone is having a great day. I'm a zombie today, and that seems to become my near-permanent state of being. My youngest son is still getting up a couple of times a night to eat and that means no sleep for me. (My oldest son gave up naps so there's no time to make it up during the day, either.) I'm happy to get up with him - I know it won't last forever - but I am looking forward to getting my brain back someday. Sleep deprivation is such a killer way to live; I understand fully why they use it in totur- er, enhanced interrogations. I sit down sometimes to reply to emails and when I read back what I wrote, it sounds like something written by Cookie Monster and edited by Yoda. Anyway, hope all is well. I'm going to try and steal a moment to listen to the new Tegan and Sara album today. Hopefully it'll dislodge the Thomas the Train theme song stuck on loop in my brain!

I had so hoped to post some pictures of the insane snow here, but my phone and laptop are apparently not on speaking terms....

Let me tell ya, though.... crazy, crazy snow. Two rounds of 12+ inches, 2 days apart. The second round was heavy, wet snow that stuck to everything and has bent small trees to the ground (or snapped them off). It froze last night, so what melted formed nothing but ice on exposed surfaces. Definitely a day to stay in until things thaw a bit.

Last year we had 4 inches of snow all winter... what the hell, we need the precipitation. Hurrah!

I'm thinking a Thursday snowman, or igloo... hell, a snow castle may be in order. That sounds much more Thursday appropriate.

Hey, MKF, I missed you. Things are much better than last time I stopped by, and I owe a big thanks to everyone who told me to hang in there. My uncle is still pretty bad, but mom is home now and doing good. Mrs. gorn and I are doing good, too.

I envy Boschi's snow. Spent most of my life up north, can't quite enjoy a winter where it's just cold and grey with no snow coming down. Seriously, if it's not going to snow why even bother with winter? Next place I live is either going to have lots of snow, or no winter at all. No more of these in-between half-hearted seasons.

I'm glad today is Thursday.

I have a horrible cold, MKF. Seems like it's been weeks now, but it's probably just been two different colds. Just as the last one was fading, started coming down with something else ... then rode an airplane. Good god, that was horrible. A week later and my ears are still weird. But the kids are good and Mrs. gorn made her original marmalade rib stew, so all is more or less right in the world.

Yes, MKF, I said marmalade.

Did I really miss the entire month of April, MKF? Well, I'm sorry, but it was a rough month; I missed a lot of stuff in April. In all honesty, this week has been so crazy I didn't even realize it was Thursday already. Just happened to be responding in another thread (ANOTHER thread ... on Thursday? I know!!) when I felt a disturbance in the Force.

Unrelated, but It looks like my youngest daughter is going to be left-handed. If so, I'm going to love her the most. No, not really, but that's what I like to tell my wife because I know it makes her mad. I particularly like to say it in public when they are other people around.

I didn't particularly care if they were going to be born a girl or boy, but I am (not so) secretly happy one of them may be left-handed.

Tired and run down today, MKF, but it's Thursday and I'm happy to see some long absent faces around the Kittenboard again. Yeah, Thursday is tough sometimes, but goddamnit it's still Thursday. I worked hard to get here and now Friday is starting to peek in my window.

They say there's a storm coming tomorrow. I kinda like storms.

Hey, MKF! I had a surprisingly good Thursday. Tough day, tough week, but we suddenly decided to go to our daycare's "graduation" ceremony tonight. We weren't planning on going because our oldest isn't graduating, but when picking them up after work today we were told that our oldest had been practicing with her class to sing tonight. What the heck, Mrs. gorn and I really have nothing better to do, so we decided to go. And I'm glad we did. It turned out to be a cute little show. And afterwards we took the girls out for ice cream.

We hit the dollar store on the way home and picked up a balloon each for them. They've been running around all night now like speed freaks (hopped up on ice cream, naturally) with these balloons having a ball. Best two dollars I ever spent.

Stumbled onto these videos of a few bird mating dances. If you have ever acted the utter fool when you've been attracted to someone, these will make you feel oh so much better. You must...MUST.... watch the emu. I rarely laugh out loud, but have spent the past 5 minutes laughing somewhat hysterically.

Happy 4th of July to the Americans here.

I don't have much to report this Thursday but "manure shoveling" on my to do list and a planned late afternoon (post shower and clean up) bbq.

I hope all of you avoid the former and enjoy the latter, wherever you may be.

So, I seem to always pop in here thinking it's Thursday, only to realize it's still Wednesday or the day has inexplicably turned into Friday. Clearly I am suffering from the former today.

I was reading the news about Britain legalizing gay marriage and it got me to thinking about my first kitten friend Candleshoe and all of the other lovelies I met here on the board (big shout outs to Boschi and Gorn). I'm in the home stretch of planning my big fat Jewish wedding that's next month. It definitely has my brain fried (who knew selecting linen colors could cause your brain to liquefy and drip out of your face?).

I will try to duck in tomorrow for the real Thursday celebration.

Hope everyone is well!

Well look who it is!

Okay, just to be clear, today is Thursday. That would be now. Yet I see no ktv posting. I think we've lost her to the linens.... sigh.

I think if I ever get hitched and must grapple with such things that I will just go with burlap. Which may be one of the more lesbian-y things I've said recently....

At anyrate. On to my Thursday revelation: water is good! (also: Beer good!). Turns out I've been dehydrated for the past few days and didn't quite realize it. Drank about 2 gallons of water today and managed to avoid the aching legs, exhaustion and spaciness that have plagued me lately. Brilliant!

Hope y'all are all drinking like fishes....

It's still Thursday!!

Funny you should mention burlap, Bosch. We had to go down to the rentals place recently to select table runners (we'd already selected everything else via phone and email but the runner options were vexing). This nice older lady is showing us everything they have in their ginormous warehouse and none of it was pleasing my sweet little Bridezilla. So nice lady pulls finally out this large bin and says, somewhat to herself, "Oh, you'll like the burlap" at which point I muttered "and blood larvae" and the SLF mutters "What, because we're lesbians?" Needless to say, we did not get the burlap (which I actually liked and which thankfully made an appearance at the shower our wedding party threw us last weekend) and ended up with some sort of weird sheery fabric (clearly not my domain).

I'm glad this place still exists. I still believe in a place called Thursday.

I'm not a regular contributor to this thread, but it's Thanksgiving and I thought that was worthy of a post, MKF!

I'm thankful for this board and community and hope everyone is having a mighty fine Thursday, whether it's a holiday for you or not.

Yes, the ultimate Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving, all. Thanks to this board for seeing me through some hard times, for making me laugh, for giving me a great excuse to read soft porn and still think highly of myself, for having a sense of community and for generally being your (our) weird-ass selves. Cheers to that.

Happy Thursday, Thursday faithful. It's a bit of a TGIT kind of day and I'm counting the minutes until my wife is home and football is on. Hopefully everyone is having a good day and if it's cold where you are, that you have hot chocolate on the menu.

Hey, MKF! How's everyone doing? What a wonderful Thursday to be back! I just saw Kate Upton floating around in zero gravity. It reminds me of that quote in Dead Poet's Society, how aerospace engineering and the study of gravity are all noble pursuits, but using it to get Kate Upton floating around in a bikini is what we really live for. I wish every Thursday could be like this.

There's some harsh weather out there tonight. I hope any Kittens out in it are safe tonight.

Harsh weather? I'm almost jealous. My youngest son literally got a farmer's tan today on a walk around the block and my oldest had to come home and put shorts on after school. Winter? What winter?

But enough of the weather! Happy to be posting, but more importantly happy to see gorn posting. (Kitten just autocorrected to born - WTF!) How are the gornlings? Mrs. gorn? (bornlings, Mrs. born - WTF?!) Wondering if Boschi's farmland is frozen, wondering if kisstheviolets is happily married, and wonder if anyone else gets as happy as us Kittens that it's Thursday. Hope everyone is doing well, and Viva Thursday!

It's Thursday again, MKF! And not a moment too soon! Howdy, EasierSaid! Mrs. gorn and the gornlings are doing great! Actually, maybe Mrs. gorn isn't doing so good ... she's working kinda late today. I picked up the girls and took them to McDonalds as I knew she'd probably be late, and both girls saw the picture of the Shamrock Shake. I probably haven't had one of those in thirty years - no lie - so I ordered three of them and we went down to the park to drink them. It was bitterly cold outside, though, so we finished them off in the car. Kids had a ball and promised not to tell Mom about the shakes.

It's been so long I forgot I hadn't posted about this, but we took in two stray cats last Thanksgiving. A tiny little black fluff no bigger than your hand showed up on the doorstep, followed soon by a slightly more cautious mama cat. It was (again) bitterly cold outside, and at that time we'd had coyotes going around after dark, so we pretty well had to bring them in for the night. And once we did that, the gornlings went nuts and we couldn't get rid of them (the cats, not the kids - we have to keep them). Both cats are jet black, but mama kitty has a small white patch on her chest. The little cat was a boy and we named him Jiji after a cat in a Japanese cartoon my wife & I like. The black mama cat? Do I really have to say it? Yup, we named her Miss Kitty Fantastico.

So how is life in the EasierSaid house? Are you back in San Francisco yet? If not, lie to me and just say yes because I like to think of you there.

I'll bet anyone twenty bucks Boschi's farm is frozen solid.

If ktv is still happily married, twenty bucks worth of drinks are on me. That doesn't sound like a lot, but we have a unique way of toasting that really doesn't require quite as much alcohol.

Yes, I live in San Francisco. /shakes head side to side mournfully, a single tear sliding down my cheek. Things are great because it is raining. I might even have to wear a coat tomorrow! Good to hear things are well, gorn. (Again with the born; get with it, Kitten spellcheck!) You're a nice dad to do the McD's run. I don't think I've ever done that when my wife works late and she works late a lot. I will definitely not tell my boys that fun Shamrock Shakes are options for children more fortunate than them. ;)

Off to watch a show with my wife that she has already seen but is watching again to indulge me. Love: It comes in many forms.

I think I've got pinkeye, MKF ... any witches here know a magical home remedy?

I didn't go to work on Monday because the whole area started imitating Boschi's farm and froze solid. First time I've ever seen the plant shut down before. Although I didn't actually see it because I was home, but you know what I mean. Come to think of it, this was also the first time I've ever had a Snow Day as an adult. It rocks! And what made it even better is how fast Thursday came this week! Seriously, I was just back at work the day before yesterday!

They say it's going to be in the 60's this weekend (for you EuroKittens, that's a pretty sweet temperature). Should I believe them?

Ew. Pinkeye? I think the remedy is death. (I hate hate hate pinkeye. Bleurg.) No, really I think it's baby shampoo. The wife and I had it several years ago and we had to wash our eyes out with baby shampoo and then FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, NOT TOUCH OUR EYES. (It was really hard.) Sorry, gorn. Hopefully it clears up soon and the gornlings don't get it (because they will just pass it back and forth till the end of time.)

Interesting about the freeze. We are back to having to wear short sleeve shirts. Glo-bal Warm-ing /clap clap clapclapclap I think our youngest has an ear infection, so hoping to keep him comfortable until we can see a doctor tomorrow. Poor guy, so happy, so cheerful and then it's time to go to bed and all hell breaks loose. It's a very powerless feeling when the little ones are sick because it's obvious something is wrong, they just can say what is wrong. Nothing else to report, just hoping the wife's flight doesn't get delayed because she'll get stranded without a change of clothes and that will make for a grumpy Friday morning commute for her. Happy Thursday everyone!

Yes. Breast milk. Probably won't help you although it might help the EasierSaid household...

So, gorn, did you find any breast milk or are your eyes still pink, itchy and terrifying to small children? ;) Oh, MKF, today's Thursday is actually our Friday (well, not my oldest, he has school tomorrow) and it could not have come soon enough. Times changes suck. I'm sorry. Let me try that again. TIME CHANGES SUCK. Why do we do this to ourselves twice a year?! And why haven't parents of small children stormed DC yet to make a change? Oh, that's right—WE'RE TOO TIRED.

/Deep breath. Leftovers for dinner so not a whole lot to do tonight except keep order until bedtime. /tips hat Kittens.

Time Changes suck, MKF, no doubt about it. I have no idea why we bother with this nonsense anymore. It's got to stop.

Mrs. gorn still occasionally breastfeeds our youngest when we have trouble getting her to sleep, but I did not have to resort to that. Turns out it wasn't pinkeye, just a nasty cold. And just as I'm starting to get over it, our four year old comes down with it and starts running a fever. No worries, though, as it also MY Friday today on a Thursday! I've got a few days of vacation I haven't used yet, and they disappear after the end of this month ... so I am taking EVERY Friday off for the rest of March! The first of my glorious three-day weekends will be spent taking care of my kids, though, since somebody's got to stay home with our oldest tomorrow, and Mrs. gorn is working Saturday.

Oh, well. I knew this kind of thing could happen when I signed up for being a parent.
