Poll On Marriage and Civil Unions

Postby OhGroovetasticOne » Fri Dec 19, 2003 8:26 pm

Mods please move or delete if necessary.

While checking out the blog on Margaret Cho's website I came across this poll by The American Family Association. Basically, they were hoping to show that the majority of Americans are against marriage for homosexuals. The link has been passed along to groups they obviously weren't planning on and the results are most likely not going to be what they wanted or expected. The according to the site, the results are going to Congress.

Help tip the scales even more in our favor. When I voted in this about 50% were in favor of the legalization of marriage for homosexuals, about 8% for civil unions only and 40% against both.

It only takes a few seconds but thanks for taking the time!

Heh ... I just got an email about that and was going to post it here ... you beat me to it *G*

Seriously, though ... this cracked me up. Those in favor of gay marriage have about forty to fifty thousand more votes than those opposed. I didn't even look at the 'civil unions' number.

I'd love it if this ended up looking like one of those Willow/Tara polls after the Kittens get ahold of it and converge en masse to be heard.

And in all honesty? I don't really care whether or not this number ends up going before congress ... I just want to imagine the looks on these people's faces when their little poll backfires on them badly.

So - send that link to friends, to lists, to whomever ... but get people voting.

I actually posted about this on the daily thread yesterday. . . Thursday. . . Whenever. Like I said there, when I voted on the poll it was something like 81 percent against gay marriage, seven percent for and the rest for civil unions but not marriage. That was Wednesday, I think. . . So it's interesting to see how much it changed.
