Easy fix though:

Go to profile by clicking the link at the top of the page ^.
Scroll down to Preferences
There you'll find 9 options, all with either Yes or No selected.
The 7th is "Always allow BBCode:"
Select Yes.
Hit Submit at the bottom of the page.
Post quotes, eat cookies and be happy.

I have insaaaaane power trips over my xbox 360. Regardless of beliefs or religion, the concept of the "Land of Israel" (Eretz Yisrael) is probably about 4000 years old. The city of Jerusalem and the Kingdom of Judea is at the very least old enough to have been conquered by the Romans. There also seems to be records of "Israel" found in contemporary Assyrian, Babylonian and Persian literature as early as the 8th or 9th century BC.

Whether or not you believe Jesus was "born king of Israel" is your own business, but I'm fairly certain any Jewish Kittens out there can back me up that Israel has existed for a very, very long time. Certainly longer than 1948.

Jas, the reason they call him the 'king of israel' is because the meschiach (literally 'anointed one', commonly transliterated as 'messiah' and translated into the greek 'christos' or more common english adaptation 'christ') was someone that the jewish people were waiting for, a foretold king from the line of david who would unite the tribes and, essentially, reclaim and rule their long lost kingdom. The christian movement seems to have started as a part of the jewish tradition, which reinterpreted the prophecies as speaking of a spiritual kingdom, a new jerusalem, and yeshua, or jesus, being the messiah. So naturally they called him things like 'king of israel' and 'king of the jews' etc. in their writings.

Aaand while that's a fact it's not exactly random, so...

OT: I can't seem to write a story without it becoming in some way about something deep or meaningful, even when I set out to write fluff. Not sure why, it just creeps in somehow.
