I don't usually remember what my last thought is before I go to sleep. Actually, I don't think I remember the last ten thoughts... Perhaps something along the lines of "Good God, let my mind stop racing so that I can get some sleep?!"

What is your fondest memory from childhood? A specific toy? Perhaps a family vacation? How old were you then and why do you think this memory stands out above others?

Ahh... the things we say when we're dumbfounded...
Amber: "Hi I'm Amber... and this is (referring to Adam Busch)...

Me: "I know who he is... (scowling) He's the guy who killed your character."

Amber stifling a chuckle: "This is Adam."

A #1: Yes, I've hated. Unpleasant sensation. The person is so close to marvelous, but has a knack of inspiring great hopes and idealistic notions and then brutally dismissing and disappointing. Also, this person has a history of hurting someone I love with this business. Just a betrayal of a couple of sacred things... pisses me right off.

A #2: Hmmm... a don't have one single fondest memory, but I remember this footrace in 5th grade with the whole school watching. It was a distance race and I was racing against 3 others. I started slow and they just sprinted away, leaving me plugging along. Slowly I inched up as they slackened and I remember this moment as I drew up close behind the girl in third. It occurred to me that if I passed her right then that I might win. So I did. And then I passed the next one. And then I zipped on in to the lead and won. I like doing things at my own pace, on my own, and this was just a great justification for that mindset - felt really good.

Q: What piece of clothing (if any) do you look at and feel like a piece of yourself is looking back at you?

A: Well my jeans feel like a part of me and can have the effect like they're a part of myself looking back at me. They're pretty old now and I have worn them almost everyday since I bought them, meaning they have been through a whole lot of things with me. They're my favourite jeans and now they're ripped
Now they're work jeans mostly used for when I'm working on my car. Still are a part of me though, and they help look after another part of myself, my car, my new baby.

Q: What is the longest amount of time/effort you have put in to a gift for someone you love? And if you want to say, what was the gift?

i spent a couple of months making a scrapbook type thing for my first girlfriend for our third valentine's day. i have little to no artistic or crafty ability now, and was probably even worse at it back then (i was 20), but we'd agreed to have a hand-made only valentine's day. so, it took me ages but made this little album which was like "the story of us" and i called her mom in texas to get pictures of her growing up and paired them with pictures of me during the same time periods.... it was pretty cute and there was a little story to go along with it (about us before and after meeting), along with ticket stubs and other mementos. she really dug it. of course, we broke up within the year. we're very good friends now, after several years of not speaking, but i haven't gotten up the nerve to ask her if she still has it. i think she might have gotten rid of it when she started seeing her current girlfriend but it'd probably hurt a lot to have that confirmed.

when did you vote for the first time and what do you remember about the candidates/issues on the ballot? (and if you haven't voted, please let someone who has answer).

I was 18 and visiting my mother over the summer. She said, "hey are you registered to vote here?" which I was. There was a school bond election and she took me over to vote and told me which way to vote. It wasn't a great example of the voting process but it's probably what happens more times than not. In major elections I've voted for Ann Richards (2x), Michael Dukakis, Clinton, Clinton, and Gore. I've never voted for a senator who won but I've voted for representatives who have.

Goodness no. I'm skinny as it is (and not necessarily 100% by choice).

Q: When was the last time you did laundry?

Hmm...
the goofy pom-pom-like fringes on the curtains from my childhood bedroom
the little brick nook on the side of the house where I liked to hide because the laundry vent was there and it was warm and smelled like dryer sheets
lincoln logs
the big red chair

I woke up in the middle of the night, and lay looking at the ceiling. Then I text messaged someone hundreds of miles away, who had apparently also been awake at the same time, looking at their ceiling, and who had just started texting me. Very strange...

I replaced the ancient and nasty linoleum tile in my kitchen on Sunday! This had been on the household to-do list for almost a year. And now it is done! It is so clean and pretty that I get happy feet whenever I'm in the kitchen.

A: little 4 cylinder pickup truck. red. not so new, not so clean. back window is broken out, radio has been stolen, windows were spray painted recently (though I've gotten most of that off). check engine light comes on often, emergency break should not be trusted in an emergency, and it's very finicky about when and how the key must be turned to start.

All the same, I'm rather fond of her. Goes like a gem once she's started. I think of her as "little Nicky", short for Nikita. Don't ask, I don't know.

Oddly, 3 lesbians including myself work where I do. We all drive little red pick ups....

Q: Hmm, on this topic: do you have a name for your vehicle(s). If so, what and why?

i have a '96 ford explorer i affectionatley call "sexy bitch" - cause, well, she is. i have a sick, sick love for my car in spite of her 16mpg. unfortunately, she's parked at a friend's house back in massachusetts while i'm cruising around in my mom's kia sportage - the kind of "suv" my car eats for breakfast.

tell us about the last time you had sex in a car...

I remember a very sweet moment. I was 5 years old and I found some blood drops on the playground, I sat next to them and started 'taking notes' on my little notebook. (well tried to write something that later I got to translate as: blood, red, 4 drops, one is bigger) and when a friend of mine asked me why was I looking at the ground and not playing I answered : I'm investigating because I am going to buy a bigger microscope when I grow up.

you know...now I look back and see that I was a little cute dreamer. (I have to say that at the age of 7 I changed microscopes for books but now my scientific heart has shown up again.

I guess there are 2 songs to describe my mood in this moment.
one is "modern man" (BAD RELIGION) which talks about humans being just a sample of carbon-based wastage who spend with careless abandon everything that the earths give us.

the other one reminds me of my girl, 'cause yesterday I remembered a pic she sent me when we were just good friends. I almost melted when I saw it...she looked absolutely gorgeous and had a special look in her eyes. I didn't realize I was falling in love with her then but I felt something different from then on. this song is called "poder-tocarte" (to can touch you) and is about someone planning to make a girl fall in love with him/her because she/he can't stand being just friends.
