Despite some job-related suckiness, I'm really happy right now. My best friend is in two for a couple weeks and I should have lots of time to spend with her. I have a new "brother" who's really awesome, and we talk nearly every day which is great after more than a year without anyone that I share the little unimportant details of my life with. I'm part of a really great online bar that's really supportive and just generally awesome. I created a group on facebook that seems to be going well, though it's very new. I got A's in both my classes, which I really didn't expect after the last couple weeks of the semester. Even though I'm probably delusional, I get the occasional inkling that my crush likes me, which induces absurd amounts of squee. I'll see my mum one day next week to go to a Christmas bazaar. On Monday an old friend I see a couple times a year is coming over to watch bad horror movies, on Tuesday I'm throwing my best friend a birthday party with the added bonus of it being at her parents' house so I don't have to clean, on Wednesday I'm celebrating International Dalek Remembrance Day, and on Christmas I'll have brunch with my family then, best of all, watch the Doctor Who Christmas special which I am soooooo excited about. Sometime in the next couple weeks I may even get to go camping for a night or two, yay! Life is pretty darn okay.

What a wonderful day and party. We had Chiara's 4th birthday party today. Mary Poppins theme. It was great with sidewalk chalk and kite making and cake and presents and friends. I just love our friends and family. Plus everyone kept saying how great the floors looked. And how great Rachel looks (she's lost over 30 pounds). Plus Rachel was so on top of everything. All week the kids and she worked on the house and kept it clean so that we had time yesterday ( I took the afternoon off to work on the house and party) and today had enough time that we even went out to lunch before the party. It was wonderful!

Feeling pretty relieved right now. Just got back from the ER, and although I had a very scary moment when they told me they wanted to do a ct-scan on my brain, I am tumor free and only need to see a neurologist.

My child is cracking me up tonight. Her current obsession is 'Cake Boss.' She's about halfway through S1 and has now adopted a thick Italian New Jersey accent and can't stop saying, 'How you doin?' and 'They call me Buddy, I'm the boss. The cake looks awesome.' It's hilarious. :rofl

She wants to visit the bakery when we go to NY next year and order a custom cake. Her idea:

-A giant gay rainbow with Buffy stabbing a vamp, Willow & Tara on their bridge from OMWF, me with a camera, her with a violin and my wife with a hundred dollar bill. LOL :lmao

Finished a brutal death march to demo my software to some executives, who felt that a few weeks before Christmas must be "slack" time for everyone.
Plus
I have managed to organize a birthday surprise party for my wife this Saturday. I dare you to arrange a surprise party the day before Christmas. Every year I try give her a party, and ever year it doesn't happen. Not this time..

I have finished wrapping everything I bought for Christmas. It was a hell of a feat but I actually did it all myself this year! My girlfriend is so much better at it than I am, but she was at work when I needed them wrapped. It's silly, but I feel very accomplished!

I am a Grinch when it comes to Christmas. Huge participant on the Christmas blues. This year though I'll admit it wasn't so bad. Yesterday I fell asleep at 1am and didn't wake up until 2pm, 13 hours of great sleep. Hid from everyone else and did my thing alone. Anyone who reached out to me yesterday received a unique and special response from me today. I do things my way. I came home at 5:30am today. I like the aftermath of things. I wasn't expecting any gifts from anyone. I arrived to presents waiting for me in my room. I won't open them until New Year's Day though. I am different that way and again do things my way. :)

Just finalized our trip to New Orleans in a couple weeks. :grin Just my wife and I are going and it'll be the first time in 12 years (since our daughter was born) that we are taking more than an overnight trip somewhere. Should be a fun trip!

Re: The all purpose happy feelings thread

Postby CrazyTaraWitch » Mon Jan 02, 2012 10:15 pm

On New Year's Eve, shortly before midnight, I sent my crush a long, rambly message telling her I like her and would really like to get to know her, even just as a friend. Shortly after midnight, so that it was one of the first things in 2012 for me, she wrote back with a short message saying she'd like to get to know me too, and implying that she'd be interested in dating. I was basically over the moon, but out nerves didn't write back until the after I'd slept. Then we messaged back and forth a bit and exchanged numbers, then I hadn't heard from her in a day (though I knew she was online) so like the worrier I am I wondered if I'd said something wrong, but I decided to text her and we texted back and forth for a few minutes, just talking about our days and Doctor Who, and and it was really really nice. Then tonight she texted me to say that she "quite likes me" and we wrote back and forth for a while on a more personal level, and even talked about how much we want to meet each other (and of course the dorky Whovian date of texting and scones that we'll have when we do). It was... completely wonderful. I've honestly hardly stopped smiling since I got her message more than 48 hours ago, and not at all in the hour and a half since the text saying she liked me. It has been soooo long since I've been excited about a girl or had anyone be interested in me.
Screw the cost, screw the fact it means waiting more than a month to look for a new job so that I can take a day off, I am going to Gallifrey One in February so that I'll be in the same state as her, and even if she can't make it there I *will* find a way to see her. No way I'm missing an excuse to meet this girl!

Oh, and my best friend, despite having no understanding of online friendships/relationships/romantic interests/etc., seems genuinely happy for me and wanted to hear all about it, and when I told my flatmate she grinned and jumped up and down. I feel so lucky to have such awesome, positive, supportive people in my life.

I have a full week of work next week (should be about 40 hours, instead of my normal 30ish) which means I'll get paid halfway decently, I found the textbook I need for school for under $5 (granted it's the 7th edition instead of the 8th, but it's also saving me $75, so totally worth it), I just spent the better part of 2 hours texting with my crush, I get to see one of my sisters on Wednesday, I watched loads of Doctor Who today, yesterday I had my first run in months which was short but good (though my legs are a little crampy today, but not bad), my brother will be back in Austin from his rather disasterous move to Montana in just over a week, and I even got a couple chores done today. All in all, I'm feeling pretty damn happy with my life right now :)
