People who hammer away at the button at pedestrian crossings. Children doing it I can understand - they're kids, it's a button, yay, press the button... But adults, man it irks me. It makes no difference, people - one press, one bajillion presses, all the same. Press it once when you get to the crossing just to make sure it's done (because it does make a difference whether it's pressed at all) but then leave the damned thing alone! It makes a metallic 'clunk' every time, so standing next to someone who just keeps banging it like they're some sort of slow-motion robotic woodpecker is maddening.

Re: Pet Peeves

So we book appointments for surgery on certain days. We try to keep Wednesday's light since Doc has to go to Mosque and pray. We also don't do surgery on Friday or Saturday. We tell the owners of the pets not to give any food or water after midnight the night before. So first, people are complaining that we don't do surgery on the weekends. Hello, call any other clinic and see if they do it on Saturdays. You will find that the answer is no.

Then the moronic pet owner thinks it's ok to give Fido his breakfast on the morning he's schedule for surgery. What part of no food or water after midnight do you not understand? So Fido comes off the table and starts to come out of the anesthesia and vomits profusely in his cage. This causes me to give an injection to control the vomiting and now I have to sit with Fido to make sure he doesn't aspirate into his lungs and drown. So as I'm "babysitting" for Fido, I'm writing up his bill for everything that we've done for him including the above mentioned injection and carefully filling out discharge instructions.

Fido's owner comes to pick him up and when I ask why he was fed, the owner blantantly denies this. Oh really, the kibble chunks in his cage tell me otherwise. Fido's owner looks at the bill and says he was not told about vomiting injection and why is he being charged for it. I explain that Fido blew chunks as he was coming out of the anesthesia and this injection was necessary. Fido's owner grumbles and pays the bill and is given an instruction sheet stating to withhold water food and water until the next morning to let him recover completely.

An hour after Fido and his owner leaves, I get a call from an angry owner saying that Fido has vomited numerous times. I asked if he gave Fido anything to eat or drink. His owner explains that Fido looked thirsty and drank a big bowl of water. So I tell him that he can bring Fido back for another injection but I'd have to charge him again. "No, I'm not paying for another shot". Grrrr :smash

So my peeve is: If you aren't going to pay attention to what the instructions are and if you are going to complain about the cost of treatment, don't own a pet. Stupid, ignorant pet owners get on my last nerve.

Sorry for the rant.

As a reformed smoker Miss Shoe and Gemma, I can assure you in my smoking days, I never did that. I find it rude as well.

Topic: I have handicap parking for my car due to breathing issues and also from the surgery on my ankle. I don't keep my placard hanging up on the mirror like many do. When (and its not very often) I do park in handicap, An older person will start to point to the sign and proceded to yell at me for doing so. I put my placard on the mirror right before I get out of my car. Handicap people come in all ages, sizes and shapes people. The geriatric crowd does not own the handicap title nor the spaces that are provided. I am entitled as permitted by the law and my placard to park there....So back off!!!

I was going to peeve about teabags tearing in the mug, but Barb opened up a whole other can of worms!

I have to second that Barb. I, too, have a handicap placard. I don't use it all the time, but there are days when it's a godsend. One particularly bad day, I had to go to the grocery store & parked in the handicap slot. I wasn't out of my car for more than 2 seconds and some old biddy was having a shit fit that a young'en was taking advantage...blah,blah,blah,blah. Most times I just want to flip'em off, but there's that whole lady-like issue. People!! Folks with disabilities or debilitating diseases don't always look sick! Would you go up to someone with cancer and say, "Gee, you don't look sick! Ya big faker!"

We have an intern in my lab for the summer, and he's one of those people that absolutely REFUSES to look at you while you're talking to him. I'm not that scary looking!!! Seriously, it just drives me nuts when people won't look at me when I'm talking to them, or when they are talking to me, because it's like saying they don't think you're worth it or something....Same with people that refuse to make eye contact. Am I just weird? lol

I dunno if this is a pet peeve, but my girlfriend has some pretty stupid friend's. Namely the one friend of her's who is 15 and who think's her main priority in life is to have a boyfriend and to meet these guy's on myspace. That's stupid. When you're 15 you don't need to worry about thing's like boyfriend's. You should be worrying about SCHOOL and that kind of stuff that's ACTUALLY important.

When you just step out of the bath wearing a towel and your cat decides to affectionately rub up against your still damp legs and deposit mega hairs all over you. I'm seriously considering shaving him right now....

Followed by your dog. Both of which are long-haired.

There are so many more attractive things I could think of waiting for me after getting out of the bath...

When there's a bit in a song that sounds like someone is calling your name in the distance. So you turn the music down and listen and it's all quiet. So you turn the music back up and when it gets to the same part of the song again you do the exact same thing. And you never learn.

I have lived in this apartment for the last 9 years. We don't exactly have assigned parking spaces. I have been here the longest and I have parked in the same spot since the day I moved here. I really hate it when someone parks in my spot. Especially when they are too cheap to use the valet parking for the resturant across the street. Can you say Private Property?

The condition of the yarn selection at Hobby Lobby. We have three Hobby Lobbies near our house. One is under constant re-organization of the yarn selection. One is moving into the former Mervyns next door (which at least seems promising because it's 3x as big). The third has a very small yarn selection. Today I cleaned them out of white, baby yarn by buying the one and only skein. One skein of white? That's somewhat pathetic.

^I can't stand that either. :( People were doing that to one of my best friends for a while and it REALLY pissed me off. I don't think I'd have minded so much if they'd done it do me, it was mostly the fact that they were hurting her. Heh. Protective streak.

I reaaaaallly hate it when people don't like to take their car somewhere because they don't want to add miles on their car, even when they never take it anywhere. And I hate it even more when they actually say: "I don't wanna put miles on my car" or "I'm leasing it, I don't want to have a really high mileage. That's the point of having a car people! To actually use it.

people who flake on long-standing plans not caring about the detriment caused to their co-planners. i'm going to be quasi-alone for two days at falcon ridge now because the friend going with me didn't get the time off from work in advance. i know people who will be at the festival so i can probably hang out with them a bit, but i'm still going to have to set up our camp alone and pretty much be alone. i'm so peeved with my friend right now that i almost want to tell that we shouldn't bother going at all.
