Just got back from Twin Cities Pride Block Party. :pride

Cyndi Lauper was AWESOME!!!! OMG(ess) :wink She has the most incredible voice... and it's amazing that it comes from such a tiny person. When her track ran out and she had no more songs, she came out to sing a cappella. Even requests from the crowd. Including one of my favs, "I Drove All Night". TRULY amazing. :love

OH I love that song, I love it, a cappella no less, lucky you. Why oh why did Celine Dion have to ruin it, you cannot improve on something that is already perfect.

GG And now, some Pride-inpired gossip! "THE BUZZ in L.A. over the weekend was that former "Ally McBeal" star Portia de Rossi, who played Nelle Porter, "married" her longtime girlfriend, Francesca Gregorini. (The latter is the daughter of actress Barbara Bach.) All this happened during L.A.'s Gay Pride festivities, where there was probably a bit of wishful thinking in the air. As of the moment, de Rossi and Francesca are still legally single." :pride Out

Portia married her? I thought they married last year or were they just getting engaged back then and am I confusing my gossip again, or are the mags full of it? Anyway eh, seeing as they can't get legally married, I suppose they are doomed to stay legally single, unless Canada invades the US. :p

I went to Pride in England last Sunday, first time ever and it was wicked..........i think.......way too much alcohol!! We got there early, about two-ish in the afternoon and stayed there until some ridiculous time in the morning, i had work as well later that night, so not a good idea. If anyone is thinking about going, i strongly suggest you do. If it's anything like the one i went to there's plenty of alcohol, and other things-legal and ilegal if your into that stuff, games, fair rides, food, music, performances, lots and lots of women! What more do u want, just make sure you bring your wages for the whole year cos it aint cheap. VERY, VERY, VERY, good day and night out.

And speaking of pride: it just occurred to me that Pride 2004 is the 35th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. So even if the parties and picnics and marches and rallies and dances aren't your scene, I think it might be worthwhile to show up, just out of simple gratitude to our "forequeers", for taking a stand on a hot Greenwich Village night in June '69 . . .

GG . . . and making our lives so much more bearable---celebrateable! :party ---35 years later :pride Out

June 12 is also the same day that Melissa Etheridge is going to be at Meadowbrook. I’ll probably have to leave Pridesfest early to make it to the concert in time. It looks like a very full day, but it should also be a lot of fun.

By the way, Sunday, June 6 is the Southeast Michigan Pride Celebration. It runs from noon till 7 pm on Nine Mile Road in Fabulous Ferndale.

Well, Michigan Pride went off without a hitch yesterday. :pride The weather, which had been threatening early on, cleared up just in time for the parade and the festival and a good time was had by all (except for possibly the Jesus people who were pontificating all along the route). It wasn’t as well attended as some marches I’ve attended previously, but the participants were enthusiastic and the politicians and media were aware of us. I even ran into a couple of kittens there, which made the day even more pleasant. Next - on to Chicago Pride on the 27th which, conveniently, also happens to coincide with the Taste of Chicago Festival. Chicago’s going to be a very busy town that weekend.

Wooo-hooo!!! As of today, my hometown has the record of the largest pride parade in the world! :) Shame that they just started with the parades after I moved to the US...

1.8 million people in the streets of Sao Paulo. Way to go!:clap

Funny to think that's more than half of the population in the entire state of Oklahoma (where I now live)...

I've got a friend who went to the Chicago parade (she was on the HRC float) and who's looking for articles or pictures from the parade.

Google didn't turn up much so I was wondering if anyone here knew anywhere that we could look.

Hey Justin, they have some pictures here, but I don't think it's the float you're looking for. It seems like maybe they'll put more up, eventually.

A local channel , ABC 7, was covering the parade, and it says they'll show an encore on July 11th.

Since it just happened over the weekend, more pictures might turn up as the days go by.

Toronto Pride was awesome - as usual, but I think a little tamer :flirt or maybe that was just me ;) Most estimates say over a million. www.pridetoronto.com/ should have pics and vid up soon if anyone wants to check it out.

For Kitten interest a small contingent of 'Nerds are Sexy' was in the parade and one lovely woman had a Willow and Tara forever sign - my friends all looked at me and asked if I was reproducing :lmao
